Chapter 8 Road Rumble
Six will admit if he was not a Spartan, he likely would be hurling from the flying he is doing with this damaged Jetpack. Six finally detach the broken Jetpack to fly off and likely explode while he landed on the roof of a building. Six activated his city map and saw he was not too far from Team A, but they were still on the move.
Six started to look for a way down until he heard someone land behind him, so Six turned and saw it was another ODST armor goon, but this time it was a chick; however, her armor was on the heavy side with their being a shit ton of it and what Six can only guess was something that looks like a full-body armor enhancement.
"So you're the Spartan my boss told me to deal with?" her Russian accent was strong as Six sizes her up, seeing she was just a few inches smaller than he was, "I'm not impressed.'
Six drew the shotgun he still had on his person and shot twice, with each one landing right on the money, but did not even phase her?! He figured the armor was tough, but she should at least feel some knockback but not even that. Six wonder when did he broke a window or walk past a black ca- dam you Tex.
"Cute. my turn." she got close and did a powerful punch to the chest, which had this kinetic boom sound to go along with it.
This strike launched Six off the side of the building, free-falling to the street below. Six quickly launched a grapple shot at the side of the building to bring to a stop his descent. The grapple shot then pulled the coil in launching Six up, but the Russian heard him coming.
Her ingenious counter move was to hop off the side of the building, tackling him. The Russian lady's move ripped Six's grapple shot from his wrist, causing them both to fall to the street below. The Russian gal tried to headbutt him, but Six grabbed her ODST helmet to stop her strike and hit her in the neck, which did nothing. This, however, let Six learn she has some kind of energy shield but not the same shield that armors give.
Six kept hitting her, which the gal wanted as the ground got closer and closer. She moved, so she landed on the ground on her back which did not hurt her. Six was in the air from her sudden stop when hitting the ground, but he did not have time to block her dropkick into Six's chest with a force that felt like he was being slammed into by a Warthog full speed.
Six crashed into a car, wrecking it beyond repair, and Six needed a moment to process what the hell happened. The Russian lady was super smug, "You may have noticed that I have not received any damage."
Six decides to play into her ego while he gets up from the wreckage he was on, "Tell me more."
This gal was glad to inform the Spartan of her special ability, "I have an energy barrier that absorbs all kinetic blows done to it and allows me to release it in a few blows." she walks closer Noble Six got to her feet, and she decided to gloat some more, "Even you can't defeat that."
Six had an idea and decide to use his sharpest tool, his mouth, "Well now you told me your abilities like dumb bitch." His words clearly got under the daughter of mother Russia's nerves like a hot knife through butter, "aw what's the matter can't you absorb them and launch them back twice as hard or did they already break your defenses?"
"I'll fucking choke you with your words you modfied fucker!" She charged, blinded by rage, running right into the spider's web.
Six sides step her strike and, using his Kukuri cut off the cords connecting to what he guessed was her suit's extra power cell. With it discounted, that energy shield around her faded, and he noticed her buckling a bit under the weight of the suit.
The Russian lady tried to land a punch on Six, but she was too slow being weighed down, and Six simply stepped back. "That's the problem with some of your armor focus projects. You depend too much on your cool shit, but once taken away or run out of batteries your dead weight." Six walk away, no point in killing her, but she will give him a reason, alright.
"I heard stories of you. I thought there was no way a person could be as heartless as you." Six pauses, not looking back at her waiting to hear what she says, "But I was wrong, no wonder you killed your sister in cold bl-"
Six walks over, grabbing her head and stab her straight into the throat to silence her. He pulled the knife out and then put it back in with even more force. Six did a few more stabs to let his anger out before whipping the blood from the knife before sheathing it.
Seeing he was on the ground level, he decided to look for a ride and contact North to see how Team B is going, "North what's your team's statues?" No instant response, which was slightly worrying, but Six was more worried he would have to run all the way out this fucking city.
"We're just leaving Six, though Wyoming is wounded and lucky to get out with any lives lost." Six agreed, still having no luck in his search, "We did not get the package, Team A is on it and last I heard they got it and are just trying to give the enemies the slip."
Six notices something that he admits looks beautiful, "I help Team A you and your team have a safe flight home." As Six hop onto the driver seat of a vehicle of the Covenant, a ghost.
It was definitely odd to see a vehicle belonging to the enemy of humanity in a human city, but Six was not really in the mood to ask that question. Elites would use the hovering bike to gun down or just run over helpless humans who roared to life and floated off the ground.
Six was too amazed at his find to notice a sniper, the same one that shot him down from the sky had their sights on his oblivious head. Figure on the trigger he says to himself, "Astalavista Bi-" suddenly silenced by a crimson energy dagger through his throat and with a swift flick of the killer's wrist, the sniper's head was decapitated from his body and left rolling on the roof of the building.
The killer of this sniper kept a hold of the victim's rifle with the scope still on Six, who was driving off but strangely did not take a shot. The stranger decloaks, confirming he was anything but human. In fact, he was an Elite. The Sangheili in focus was battle-hardened and for sure an elite among his fellow soldiers. However, this Sangheili was no mere Spec-ops, blood-thirsty Ultra, or the insane Zealot, no he was one of the deadliest class of Elites; he was a Silent Shadow.
Silent Shadows were part of some of the deadliest Elites that weren't zealots or field marshals. These silent fuckers had one job, kill anyone that posed a threat to the prophets and the covenant as a whole. This includes hieratics among their ranks or those that make it harder for the great journey to become a reality.
The armor of a silent shadow is not far off from rangers or spec-ops with armor covering most of their bodies, but their protection while above the cannon fodder of other classes, their main selling point is their cloaking devices, they were the best, or among the best in all of the covenant, Texas' cloak is like a PlayStation three to their PlayStation five.
This silent Shadow armor was black with a glowing red visor, showing he was above the average one rock glowing blue visor.
Along with having a cloak to shield himself from harsh environments or just to look awesome, It's been a long time, hasn't it? Ghost of Reach. Show me what you got." as he cloaked, leaving the scene of the crime.
Returning to the lead of the story. *suck it blue* Six was getting on the highway and remembered why he always preferred the Ghost over the Warthog, it was slick, it was mobile, he did not need anyone to shoot for him, he hated to admit the covenant always did have the coolest looking shit around.
Six's dreams of just cruising in to save team A from the evil mercenaries were dashed when he heard three warthogs on his rear. His glance back confirmed what his ears already told him. There were two turret hogs and one that was of gauss flavor, which got Six slightly worried. If that gauss landed a single shot on him or his Ghost, it would be game over for the mister Six.
Six was not driving in reverse in one smooth move as he unloads a barrage of plasma shots towards the gauss warthog, removing the only major threat of the trio of pigs. Seeing his plasma shots were not destroying it quickly enough, Six drew his Magnum and headshot the gunner to buy him time.
He knew it was only buying him time since the passenger was slowly trying to climb to the gunner seat. Six's endless stream of plasma shots while avoiding machine-gun fire from other hogs were chipping away at the gauss warthog to the point where almost in ironic timing, the passenger got on the gunner seat in time for the hog to explode. Six could not confirm the gunner's death along with the driver, but what he can confirm is that he is down one Warthog and two more to butcher.
Six turned the Ghost around to drive forward, and while he did, he dropped a grenade behind him. This grenade rolled across the road towards one of the approaching hogs. Once under the stomach of this mechanical beast, it exploded. This explosion launches the Warthog into the other hog, taking both out letting Six continue to cruise in peace.
Of course, Six's bad luck veered its ugly head as he heard gunfire a few miles ahead of him. Thankfully Six was not being shot at this time around. Six went full throttle with his Ghost to catch up to the action since it was most likely team A. Six's Ghost was still in good shape only got a few bullet holes in its front, but it did not damage anything internally to make it unable to reach its top speed.
His hopes for it be team A he was coming in to save the day when he saw only two warthogs, and they were shooting at a hummer. Hummers are the two-wheeled variant of the UNSC vehicle dubbed a mongoose. Six thinks people in charge of the UNSC really were animal lovers. On this hummer, it was agent Texas who had on her back a rocket launcher.
Six knew he could not pass the three without being seen. Besides, I don't want the director on his ass for letting his waifu die on the battlefield. So the spartan behind the two gunning warthogs and unloaded a pour of plasma shots. Most of these shots landed on the rear of the hogs doing damage to the vehicle and the gunner to a lesser extent, but some were passing them and getting dangerously close to Tex's rear.
"Hey watch where you are shooting." her glance back revealed who it was, and it was the last person Texas wanted to thanks for their help, "Why is it always fucking you." Six just rolled his eyes at what she said,
"Trust me I am as happy as you are about this situation." Six took out one of the two hogs leaving one to go. However, she was tired of Six's help. She was no damsel in distress. Tex spins her hummer, drawing her Rocket Launcher, and fires it into the remaining, removing all current threats.
"Congradulation's your one rocket down." Tex places the rocket launcher on her back and then flipped Six off, "WOW really mature on your part agent Texas."
"Fuck off I don't need your back seat driving." Tex pulled the rocket launcher out, having a feel about blowing something up, and when both glanced up, she got her target in her sights.
The two black armor soldiers saw two hornets chasing after a warthog which Six and Tex think saw the aqua color of Carolina's armor on the gunner seat of the hog. Tex rode up this part on the side of the highway, using it to launch herself on the highway lane above the road she was on before. Six follows her and sees Tex mid-air fires the last rocket into one of the hornet's causing it to crash and burn.
Six saw Tex driving ahead, pulling out her side gun, which is an SMG gunning down the passengers of two mongooses she zoomed past. Six unload a barrage of plasma into the gooses to remove them as a threat before speeding up to catch up with AgentTexas. This is due to Ghost being way faster than a simple hummer.
Agent Texas notices Six and wants him gone, so in a failed attempt of giving helpful advice, "Why not you get out of here Six. I will finish cleaning up the mess the team is making on this highway." Six was not phased as he saw through it like a stone sinking through water,
"Sorry Agent Texas but cleaning up my student's mess is my job." Six felt like another dab at Texas would make him feel better, so he did, "Why not you go back? So you don't have to go back with me cleaning the egg from your face."
"Fuck off you Sister killing-"
Six suddenly sped up and got in front of Texas and turned around to face her, causing her to slow down a bit or risk crashing into him, "Don't even think about it. You might think because I slaughtered families, killed kids in front of their parents that I enjoyed it. that I have never had a single day in my life wanting to give those nightmares to the people who sent a vengeful young boy to make them richer or for some pity grudge. The truth is not as it's written in the report AGENT TEXAS."
Texas was at a loss for words at what Six said but also what she saw. Allison was no longer in the city on a highway; she was in a forest. She felt like she was looking for someone, and before her, she found him. Leaning against a tree, crying into his arms and knees, was a boy no older than five wearing a red shirt and blue shorts.
Allison tried to reach out, but a few words shattered her dreamscape, "DUCK!" she did in time for Six to fire a magnum shot over her and into the enemy on a hummer closing in on them, "Why did you not move when I asked you to?"
Six noted she was trying to shake off something that Six guessed was a trance, "just lost in my head… Six I think-" both pause when they heard a strange noise, and it was getting closer to them, "Six does that sound mean anything to you?"
Six at first gave a nod of yes and went into greater detail, "Yes their Skaters, get a knife out, they love their blades, namely katana's." six moves out Texas' way at long last along with facing the same direction as her hummer.
Texas drew out a typical combat knife while Six Emile's kukuri, "Great their fucking weeaboos.'' She glanced back, confirming their three with only two really approaching, which was odd to Tex, but she ready herself for a fight.
These skaters wore ODST armor, though, on the lighter side, heavy padding in the arms and chest, their legs were fine due to prosthetic legs with wheels for feet. Their helmets were Recon variety. A skater approached on one side of their ride and began slashing with their Japanese swords, but the two soldiers in black and black and red were no pushovers in their knife skills.
Six swiftly blocked his skater foe's strikes until he got a quick shot to ice pick stab the Skater's throat, killing him before pulling it out letting the corpse skid across the pavement. Agent Texas was not as swift about this to the point where her knife got knocked out and was forced to grip the sword itself to keep it from slashing at her, but Six aided her by headshotting the Skater, leaving one to go with Tex up one Japanese sword.
The last one zoomed up close and said, "let's make this fun grandpa." From his back, he drew two Katanas, one for each hand as he slashed at both, but his targets blocked his strikes, namely Six, with Tex almost getting scratched by the Skater's swords. Seeing the weak link in Tex focused on her and kept far enough away to not be in the range of Six's kukuri.
He got his blades around her neck with her borrowed sword on the outside of it. Tex was worried that the Skater would chop her head off. Texas did her usual answer to problems, punch it, or in this case, did paw strike the chin of the Recon Helmet knocking the Skater into Six. The Spartan hit the brakes, causing the Ghost's jutted-out parts to sweep the Skater's feet.
After stopping to get some distance from the fallen Skater, Six kicked it and, with a burst of speed slam into the Skater's head, smashing it into a metallic and blood piece under his Ghost.
Tex did not notice this as she saw team A and an enemy with a jetpack flying onto a Hornet, so she picked up the pace. Six did as well but to drive up to team A, "York pull over and wait for-"
Carolina then hopped on the front of Six's Ghost and said, "Me and Six will get the case now PUNCH IT." the Spartan sighs and does as he was told.
Which was good since the tunnel ahead was closing and would block Noble Six and Agent Carolina to catch up with Tex, who was on the heels of the key for the Sarcophagus. The Ghost was more than fast enough to zip right through before closing on their faces.
Tex saw Six catching up to her and surprise to see Carolina on Six's Ghost, "Both of you fall back. I got this." Six was about to respond to what she said, but Carolina beat him to it, "You back off."
Tex saw a structure that was likely for a way people could take a tunnel beneath the tunnel she just drove through, but she only saw it as a ramp. She rode it off and hop off the hummer launching it towards the Hornet. However, a sniper round was heard in midair and hit the hummer, exploding it with it only doing small splash damage to the Hornet.
Six sighs knowing what to do, as he said to Carolina, "hop off, I will be sending them an elite package." Carolina nodded as she hopped off as Six leaned to the side suddenly to flip the Ghost. Six feet skidded across the pavement and then chuck the Ghost into the Hornet. A random sniper round shot the bike, exploding it before it could crash and explode on contact with the HornetHornet. Six sighs knowing what to do. Carolina hopped off, knowing Six's sigh meant something he was going to do to be dangerous.
Six move his entire body to the slide flipping the Ghost, and in one swift motion, hold it above his head before launching. It went into the HornetHornet, destroying it. Causing the mercenary to hop off the flying vehicle. the guy with his arms ba
Tex caught up to Six, who was following Carolina, who ran ahead towards the guy who shot Maine multiple times in the throat, "Show off." Six just rolled his eyes, kind of tired of their battle of wits.
Eventually, they caught up and saw the case on the side of the road, which got Agent Texas' main focus, while Six focus was on Carolina, who was clearly in pain with her helmet off, showing Carolina's red hair.
The two ran to their focus, with Six helping Carolina to her feet and making sure she was not bleeding, which she wasn't. Tex picks up the case, and contacts the Director, "Command, the package is secure, heading back home."
Director smiled at this new, "Excellent work, Agent Texas." Tex enjoyed the praise and decided to taunt Agent Carolina, who earlier was being super competitive on this mission, "Better Luck next time, Carolina."
Carolina clenched her fist, but Six placed a hand on her shoulder and said, "You're in no shape." she looked away from Six, knowing he was right but would not say it out loud. A pelican came by, and both got on with York helping the wounded Carolina up with Six's help.
The Spartan walked to the pilot seat and saw it was Niner's pelican, "You on my shit list." Niner wasted no time trying to clear up what it looked like, "Don't blame me. I was put with a gun to my head to get that coffin to Mother of Invention at no cost."
Six did not say anymore as he took the co-pilot seat and knew he would have a lot to talk about with Alpha tomorrow during their battleship game.
Meanwhile, the one that sniped Agent Texas' hummer was Silent Shadow, who did this to see what Six would do at this inconvenience, "I never would think of using a Ghost like that. You are truly impressive as "She" said you would be Spartan."
