Chapter 9 unraveling the Past.
It's been two days since the heist to get the sarcophagus for the Director and the rest of Project Freelancer. York was worried about Carolina. She has been working herself to the bone since she lost her pedestal of number one to Agent Texas. York knew she often trained even while at the top of the world, but she is overdoing it now.
York knew She would not listen to him, so he decided to go to the one person she might actually listen to, that being her mentor Noble SIx. so the gold and silver armored agent walked all about the Mother of Invention for the spartan three. York was about to ask F.I.L.S.S. when he noticed Six in one of the few rooms for the crew to rest and relax.
SIx was sitting at a table seemingly waiting for someone, "Six?" the spartan did not respond to what York said, so he got closer, placed a hand, and repeated, "Six?"
The black and red Spartan sprung awake, looking at York, and asked, "What do you need?" looking at the other end of the table he was at and was disappointed that "he" did not show his blue fairy face.
"Well sir I'm worried about Carol. Ever since losing first place she's been going crazy." Six got up from his seat, stretching his legs and arms, "She never was good at taking losses."
York did not fully agree with what the spartan said, "She never gets this salty about losing to you." Six clarified the difference, "She knows she will likely never be able to surpass me so she doesn't value any losts I give her. Tex is a different story, at least in her eyes."
York understood that, but another idea came to his head, "Is it because how much Texas' fighting style is based on yours?" Six pondered that thought but concluded, "Likely a reason but I think it more she came out of nowhere and "doesn't need" anyone's help to achieve her missions."
York noted his finger moment for a quote on quoting, "I see. Well I leave you to deal with it." leaving the room, so Six was the only one left in it. Six remain in their wondering why Alpha did not show up?
Alpha day could not be any better. He just finished that report for the week, so he got it today and tomorrow without worrying about doing work. Alpha pushed his office chair from his computer desk and got to stretch his legs from sitting there for 10 minutes in human time, but in A.I. time, that's over 34 hours. As he prepared to leave his room, he saw himself in the mirror. His attire was his usual get-up. That being his classic mark six, Mjolnir helmet with a gold visor. The rest of Alpha's attire was a blue shirt with long sleeves and some classy blue jeans. Alpha's footwear was blue tennis shoes.
Leaving his office, Alpha saw the love of his life Tex in the living room working on her laptop, likely looking for her next mercenary job either to protect some rich kid, be a bail bondswoman, or her favorite nut check, a scumbag or Karen. Tex's outfit currently was her ass-kicking uniform. She wore a black jacket with leather straps for extra protection. Under her jacket was a military camouflage shirt that was a more dark color. Tex's pants was gray combat pants with matching combat boots for footwear. Lastly, she wore a gray scarf and a Mark six Mjolnir helmet with a red visor.
However, Tex was not alone. Playing around the living room was a girl no older than four. Carol was playing with her hand pointer stick that Alpha got for Carol from her school's book fair on the twelfth of never. Her attire was a cyan dress with matching color tennis shoes.
Carol's head was not cover by a Rouge Helmet but, in fact, a Recon helmet
"Take that you ugly mother-"Tex turned sharply towards her little girl and said, "Carol! what did we say about swearing?" Carol turned to her mom, being a good girl, "Swearing is only for mommy." Tex added, "AND?"
Carolina chuckled and said, "Daddy if mommy allows it."
Tex gave Carol a pat on the head of approval letting her little girl go back to her daydream. Which was of her killing alien scum with her staff of awesomeness.
Alpha walk behind the couch Tex was sitting on and wraps his arms around his wife's neck in an attempt at a hug. "How is knight in leather pants." Tex smiles a rare tight for sure as she places a hand effectively on the side of Alpha's helmet, "I'm doing good, hon. It seems my services of dishing out ass-kicking are not in need today."
This brought a smile to Alpha, and he was about to speak if it weren't for his little princess shouting, "Yay mommy and daddy staying home." Carol hopped onto the couch use the move bear hug on Alpha's helmet head, showing her love for her daddy. It was extremely effective, "Yes sweetie we will be staying home now why not go outside and play, mommy and daddy want to talk with less than four eyes present."
Carol did not argue, "Okay." She ran out the sliding back door and into the forest area behind their house to play. Alpha walks around the couch and sits on the right of Agent Texas.
The two adults remain silent for a good while before breaking it, "Why are you being so nice to me, Tex?" Alpha wonders since they rarely are not yelling at each other's faces. "What do you mean, Chuch?" Tex asked of him, wanting him to be more specific, "Well, I mean from what I remember you often act like a hard ass bitch."
Tex says to Alpha, "I was not always a bitch. Like you weren't always a dickhead." Alpha had to agree as he placed a hand behind her as the two comforted each other unaware that their happy times were in for a cruel end.
Back in the real world, Carolina was in the training room using the holograms for target practice. Her weapon was herself. Punching, kicking each target in one constant motion hitting one's in front and behind her. Once she hit each target, she asked, "Time."
F.I.L.S.S said to the cyan color agent, "You time has improve by four percent would suggest resting before-"
"Restart it." Carolina order of the dumb A.I. of Project Freelancer. F.I.L.S.S was about to do as she was told, "Overruled, F.I.L.S.S leave me with my student." the A.I. did not need to be told twice by Six as she left the training room to do something else.
Carolina was not happy about this for obvious reasons, "I need to get to training. So unless you are here to give me help I suggest you leave me to focus." Six was not intimidated by Carolina's threat as he walked closer towards her, "You are only making yourself more tired. Your body needs some rest to heal and let your work out kick in."
The girl in cyan armor was not listening to what the more experienced soldier suggested to her, "Unlike you we are not all made to be the perfect soldier. Hell probably were a protege before you even got those fucking steroids."
Six was annoyed by what she said, "Unlike you I was one in a hundred Spartan three's to still be kicking around. Also I was not some chosen one." Carolina's curiosity was at maximum as she looked at Noble Six, wanting to learn more, "I guess I opened Pandora's box have I?"
Carolina nodded, and Six sighs, "Come with me and I will share with you." Carolina followed the Spartan out of the training room, wanting to learn more about her mentor. Six took her to the lunchroom as they got some drinks. Carolina had lemonade while Six had Coke Zero.
The two sat at one of the tables as she looked at Six and gestured for him to continue. Six decided to get on with it, "I grew up on the planet of Jericho seven which was a very flat planet you could say. And had a lot of green."
Carolina joked, "is it ninety nine grass?" Six corrected the red hair's comment, "Sixty nine and it's namely the green planet since the water was green. It wasn't swamp water, it was just water with a green skin on."
Carolina nodded, letting him keep telling more about him, "My dad was a mechanic at a car shop, while my mom was a manager of I think it was a Walmart, Albertsons, doesn't matter. She ran that thing like a well oil machine and that was not the only thing she had a stern hand in controlling."
Carolina chuckle reminded of her own mom, what little she remembered, "What were their names?" Six responses caught the red hair with emerald eyes off guard, "It doesn't matter. All you need to know was my parents, and my older sister were part my early-"
"You had a sister?" This caught Carolina's attention. She wanted to learn more about the older sister of Noble Six, "What was her name?"
Six looked at her and said to Carolina, "What part it doesn't matter who they were. All that matters she… she died with them." Carolina accepted that answer, but if she saw what his face really looked like when he said his sister died with his parents. Carolina would realize Six was lying to her.
Elsewhere in the integration room, you could say had both the hardass Agent Texas who was being council by the Counselor, "Agent Texas me and the Director are happy with your performance covering Project Freelancer's tracks and getting us the Sarcophagus."
Texas knew something was up and decided to get the Counselor just to say why he was really talking with her, "Enough of the dick stroking, what are you worried about or what did I do wrong?"
The Counselor nodded and got to the meat of this talk, "Director is worried you are… getting attached to Noble Six." The Counselor was unsure why since it seems like they got close and worked as a duo, Project Freelancers can achieve any mission they want.
Tex was annoyed, especially reminded of Six's taunts that she had feelings for him, "Please the Spartan just taunting me. I don't give a single shit about what happens to him." Counselor chuckled a bit which ticked the lady in black, "What's so funny doc?"
Counselor thinks about how to get what he thinks Agent Texas needs to hear without his balls getting crushed by her boot, "Is it possible you have "history" with Noble Six. or he reminds you of someone you actually care for."
Texas was about to give him the wrath of a cowgirl, but his words triggered a thought process in her mind, "Maybe. My memory is fuzzy at points." which was odd, but the Counselor figured it was due to being a "Ghost" as the Director told him and Agent Texas, "Maybe trying to… "access" your memories will help you get over this hurdle. Or maybe use the info to your advantage to surpass him."
Tex said she will keep that in mind as she was dismissed when she left. The Counselor was contacted by the Director, "Counselor came. It's time we shatter Alpha's world." the Counselor nodded, leaving the room he was in to talk with Agent Texas to regroup with the Director.
Back with Alpha, who was in paradise, he and Tex did not break from their embrace from earlier. However, their loving time was over when both heard the cry of their beautiful girl, "CAROL!" Tex shot to her feet, grabbing her Battle Rifle, and ran out the door, almost just going straight through the sliding glass door.
Alpha follows after but stops just a few feet from the door, "TEX don't rush away." Alpha lost sight of her as she headed deeper into the forest. Alpha remains in place, terrified of what will happen to her, "Don't leave me, again."
Moment's past with not a sound being heard, until Alpha saw a black figure moving towards him and at first Alpha thought it was Texas, but he quickly realized it was not her and was horrified by what he had hanging on his waist.
It was his friend Noble Six, but he was monsterized. His helmet's visor was shattered, showing his skeleton face underneath with bright red flames forming his pupils. His armor was more jagged and worn, along with his figure being inhuman with longer arms which made his normal legs look short in comparison. The thing on his waist that affected Alpha's psyche with horror was the bloody helmets of Carol and Tex with blood still leaking from the bottom of them.
Alpha fell to his knees, crying out, "Why you do that! This doesn't make sense." grabbing his head as his head started to get pixels that were a greenish color as his mind was breaking down. Six walked closer and said in a darker tone than he normally talks, "I never made sense Leonard. I only kill for the sake of killing." Alpha drew a sniper rifle out of his ass and began to fire, but his aim was awful, "FUCKING DIE YOU CHILD KILLER!"
Six kept his approach towards the A.I. and spoke some more, "She not the first one. Nor the last. She tried to fight, it was adorable thinking she could hurt me with the pointy stick. I showed her how you should use it."
Alpha kept firing but missing each shot. Alpha's entire body started to have a green digital effect around his body like he was splitting in two, "Someone like you can't physically exist." Alpha was becoming greener, and his voice was altering into a different type. Six kept taunting, "Reality is not bound by one's logic, it hinders us from seeing what can't be seen."
Alpha, if he wasn't having a mental breakdown, would have made a drug joke. However, he said instead, "You're right. I don't want to understand why you are doing this." as the green faded away, and replacing it with purplish pixels as a new emotion consumes Alpha, one of the strongest feelings a person can have, Rage.
"I am going to kill you!" he tosses his sniper and charges tackling Six, which would not work in real life as he starts to beat down on the murder of his wife and daughter. As he beat him down, he cried, "I will make you suffer fifteen times more than you did to the love my wife and my fucking daughter!" wrapping fingers together, he brought them down on Six's head, trying to crack Six's head open like a fucking coconut.
The blue of Alpha was turning into a purple color as the A.I. started to laugh more malicious and evil-like as we hear him shout in a stereotypical villain voice, "YOU Six will TASTE OBLIVION!" The Counselor watched in slight horror at what might be a monster they created. The Director smiled, seeing the perfect insurance to make sure his little back angel of death will for sure kill the Spartan bastard, "bring in the artifact. it seems we starting with two rather than one."
