And now, enjoy! \(^3^)/
Hirari slowly stirred, feeling dizzy; her neck hurt again and her temples thudded painfully. She whined a bit as she slowly sat up, mentally cursing the Vampire that was the cause of her soreness.
Just like when she woke up in the morning, there was food's smell in the room. She glanced at the bedside table, expecting to see it there, but it was empty. She looked then around in search of it, her gaze soon landing at the desk. Her eyes widened lightly seeing an incredibly fancy full-course meal.
Hearing her stomach grumble just at the sight of it, she carefully left the bed and approached it. Wondering what time it was, she glanced at the clock and realized that it was one. The darkness that could be seen outside the window told her that it was deep night, making her realise that she had slept for over half a day and skipped lunch as well. No wonder she was feeling so hungry then.
While sitting down on the desk's leather office chair, she sighed in annoyance as she wasn't sleepy at all now, having slept during day time.
Of course, having lived with a Vampire for so many years she perfectly knew that they weren't active during the night nor stayed in some coffin or similar while the sun was out. No, that was just some assumptions that the Humans had come up with through the centuries, unable to realise that it was their own fault if the Vampires had to hunt during night time.
The girl remembered talking about that matter with Yukimura when she was still a child, curious as to why the legends portrayed them as creatures of the night.
Centuries ago we had to hide from the human society, because they were scared of us and hunted us down, he had explained to her while stroking her hair, one winter night. Her little self had been curled up against his lap, her eyes closed as she listened to him.
So we ended up coming out during the nights only; on one hand, it was easier like that: the Humans that were around during that time were usually alone or in small groups, so for us it was more convenient as there were almost no witnesses.
Hirari took the fork and started to eat slowly. As she brought it to her lips, she froze a moment. She took a bite before looking at it closely. A light, surprised gasp left her lips: that fork was made of gold! She picked up the knife and spoon, confirming that they were made out of the same metal. No wonder she had felt them weight more than the utensils she used to use at home.
After some time, once all food had disappeared inside her stomach making her feel happily full, she reached back to the shelves that were right behind her, and grabbed a book randomly. She even felt too lazy to actually stand up and go to the couch, so she settled to read while sitting at the desk.
She was pleasantly surprised to see that it was the Faust in its original language, written by the famous German author Goethe; she had studied it in school and was actually one of the very few classic books that she had enjoyed.
Even if she had not felt sleepy at all before, before she realised it she was napping, the book open on the lap, her head tilted to the side with her lips slightly parted as she breathed softly.
When she woke up again, she found herself in the bed, tucked up comfortably in the thick and warm blanket; there was no trace of the dishes on the desk, also the book that she had been reading was placed on the bedside table, closed and with a bookmark inside.
Hirari sat up, stretching a bit; she was actually feeling quite rested now, as if the energies that she had lost during the feeding had been completely restored. Standing up, she went to the toilet and took a warm and long bath, then got dressed in clean clothes which she had found in the wardrobe. She wondered where to put the dirty ones, then shrugged and settled to placing them inside the cupboard for the time being.
Then, she went back to the bed and sat, picking up the unfinished book from the bedside table and opening, resuming to read.
It wasn't much time later that she heard the door being unlocked. She tensed and placed the book down, wary. She was hoping that that Ootori guy would enter, but when she saw who it was she tensed and quickly stood up, moving away from him.
"You bastard…" she hissed.
Her kidnapper merely smirked. "Such language for a lady." He commented, nearing her.
She scoffed lightly. "Too bad I'm a tomboy then."
The girl suddenly had an idea. She knew it was probably futile, since she was with a Vampire, but maybe she could try to escape. Her speed was slightly above average thanks to the training under Sanada in the dojo, so she was confident in her legs. She let him come closer, and when she decided that the right moment had arrived, she sprinted towards the bed, jumped over it helping herself by making lever with her wrist, and then sprinted towards the door.
Surprise flashed for a moment in the Vampire's eyes, yet he didn't waste time and disappeared to her at once, immediately appearing between her and the door.
Hirari yelped lightly seeing him suddenly in front of her, and stopped before she could bump into him.
She glared at him, who simply smirked down at her. "Trying to escape, ahn~?"
"Che." She frowned and stepped slightly back again. "Curse you, Vampire."
The other chuckled and flipped his hair arrogantly. "Now, my dear little Scanner, it is time that you show ore-sama what you can do with that power of yours."
Hirari scoffed lightly. "I will never help you."
"Mh, you already said that." He chuckled. "But ore-sama recalls reminding you that you don't have a choice."
"I do." She countered. "And I'm gonna stick to it."
The Vampire smirked at her. "Stubborn, stubborn~. Ore-sama will then have to… ah, convince you." He purred.
Hirari started to feel uneasy. "You cannot kill me." She reminded him quickly.
His smirk widened. "Kill you ore-sama can indeed not, for he does need your power. But, you can still use it even if you miss something."
Her eyes widened in fear and instinctively stepped back. "W-what do you mean?"
The man resumed to near her. "Well, it's not like you need all your fingers, for instance."
He chuckled evilly seeing her tense and move even further from him, as if that could help that little Human to escape him. Ah yes, Atobe loved to play with his preys, especially if they fought back. He'd enjoy slowly breaking her.
Hirari let out a pained gasp when her left pinky finger started to hurt. It literally felt like she had put it inside the freezer for some time, and when she glanced at it she could see a small layer of ice covering it. She tried to get rid of it at once, wincing in pain, but not only she could do nothing, the ice was even slowly covering her ring finger. She looked at him scared. "Stop it! Please!" Her two fingers were starting to turn blue and they were numb already. The girl was breathing heavily, trying to warm them up as best as she could.
The Vampire chuckled again. "Will you help ore-sama then~?"
She gritted her teeth, obviously trying to oppose him once more, but the pain that started spreading to her middle finger made her change her mind.
"Yes." She spat out. For now, she added mentally.
He grinned in triumph and in less than a second the ice disappeared completely from her hand.
Hirari let out a very relieved sigh and started to rub them with her right hand to reactivate the blood circulation in them; she whimpered lightly when, together with it, acute pain returned.
Something obscured the light, and she glanced up only to yelp and step back when she saw that the Vampire was now standing in front of her.
He grabbed her chin with his cold fingers, smirking darkly at her. "Then, let us not waste time. Tell me, dear Scanner, how many non Humans can you feel now inside ore-sama's mansion?"
Hirari was about to refuse to answer, but the pain at her hand was still there. She looked away in defeat. "Twenty-five Vampires and five Demons." she murmured.
The Vampire's eyes glinted and he smirked widely. "Correct." He let her go and stepped back, feeling triumphant and once again, amused as he watched the girl move away from him at once.
"Very well, girl. From tomorrow on, you are going to work full-time for ore-sama." He announced to her before disappearing with a chuckle.
The door was once again heard to be locked, and she fell to her knees, trembling in fear. "Mura…" she called, her eyes teary.
