"I can't believe I'm doing this!" was all Hinata could think about, but she knew had to do this to save Obito's life.
"Have no other choice... even if it kills me," she thought while staring at two other undead Akatsuki members she was with. The first was Sasori of the Red Sand and Hinata hear stories about him from Sakura that gave her chills. The second was Deidara and she heard some interested stories about him from Obito.
Flashback a few weeks ago
"What was Akatsuki like?" Hinata asked sitting by a lake on a nice sunny day. Obito want to get her out his lair and thought they some fresh air. She had to admit it, that it was so thrilling that he could teleport them to any where in the world within seconds especially if it was somewhere she never been to.
" Why? Do you want to join? I am in need of a new partner," he said jokingly already knowing her answer would be no.
"Partner?" she said with confusion as he lay down on the grass completely stretched out.
"In Akatsuki, everyone is assigned a partner someone that usual has similar personality traits or someone is capable to keep the other person from leaving the group,"
"Leaving? So very few members actually want stay is that what your saying?" It surprised Hinata and she wasn't sure why.
"Yes almost everyone in Akatsuki was seeked out and was forced to stay one way or another. No one has a choice because to leave is to die and everyone always had their own ulterior motive in mind when they were in Akatsuki," Obito calmly reflected back on Itachi and what a pain was he when he was alive.
"Hmm that makes sense " Hinata mumbled back. She always thought Akatsuki was an evil organization trying to destroy the world, but it was a lot more complicated than that. When she first met Pein and Konan she seen that they merely tolerated Obito because they made some kind of deal with him.
"I knew in the end Akatsuki was never meant to last forever, but I would never guessed that some plans would fall through the way that they did," he was now laying on his side plucking up blades of grass. He watched the blade of grass slip out of his fingers each one representing a member of Akatsuki as the wind the sweaped away it.
"I often wonder if I never have met you...would I still be pretending l like I don't exist, "
Hinata felt goosebumps creeping up her skin from his words and instantaneously pulled him into a hug.
"B-But you are glad you have met me right? Because I'm glad to have met you, the real you Obito and not your aliases!" she felt his arms tightened around her hips as he snuggled his face into her lap.
"Didn't say I have regrets Hinata just happy I don't have to aimlessly wander around anymore," Obito sighed peacefully. He began telling her funny stories about his last partner Deidara and how he actaully enjoyed messing with him.
Flashback over
"How could this happened to us! You will get yours Kabuto like Obito said once before time and opportunity.."
"So your Tobi's girl yeah?" Deidara questioned with suspicion. They were flying sky high on what Deidara called art because it was the fastest way to the land of Iron. It was making the blue kunoichi nervous being this high in the air, but she kept telling herself not to look down and remain in her seat.
"Yes well his real name is-"
"I know who he really is now!" he suddenly snapped at her. She was reminds by Obito long ago that Deidara had a explosive temper.
"Fucking Uchiha lying about everything!...no I rather remember him as an obnoxious idiot," making Sasori snorted and roll his eyes at his undead partner for letting his hatred for Uchiha still control him.
"Danna you have no idea what an annoy shit Tobi was and now knowing what I know now!"
"None of that matters Deidara because we are dead if you haven't noticed," he saw this conversation as a complete waste of time.
Hinata could do nothing , but watch as they both began to bickering about art and at some points getting heated. She could only imagine how chaotic Akatsuki must have been when everyone was together. They were gradually getting lower to landscape as they entered the Land of Iron. Deidara's clay creation was perfectly camouflaged in this snowy climate while making a easy landing on the frozen ground.
Hinata shivered a bit as she jumped down to the ground with the ice crunching at sandals. Deidara suddenly threw something at her and she caught it out of pure reflexes. It was was an Anbu uniform specifically from Iwa and it came with a tiger mask.
"Put these on,"
"You had these the whole time and you didn't think to gave me these till now," she replied annoyed as he merely shrugged his shoulders. She began to walk away when she was instantaneous stop by the bomb expert.
"Where are you going get dressed yeah!"
"In front of you guys!? I was just going to go behind that tree and-"
"Cut the bullshit because we don't have time for your modesty. Get dressed now!" Sasori impatiently cut her off.
Hinata just huffed fine, because she did realize they were zombies in a way and he was right they didn't have time to waste. She hurried to put on the uniform in this frigid air making Deidara let out a low whistle.
"Man Tobi is one lucky bastard if only I was still alive.." which made Hinata scrunched up her face at him.
Eventually Sasori pulled out a map to the prison, but it seemed he was under someone else control now because Kabuto's voice was coming out of his lips. He explained that he had two spies of his waiting to for them at the checkpoint up to where the Summit Kage was being held at. He also informed them that they will have backup in dealing with the Kages and that Sasuke's fate was undecided.
"What does that mean? That you don't even know if he is alive?" she question steely.
"No he is alive, but his time is running out...sort of ironic don't yo-" instantly silenced him with a gentle palm to the face disintegrate it in the process.
It took a couple seconds for Sasori's face to come back fully. Hinata put on her mask and changed her appearances making sure her necklace was tucked in her patted armor.
"What the hell just because I can't feel that does not mean you get to do that!" The puppet master came back pissed making Deidara snickered.
"So what? You guys told me to get dressed and your not even in your disguises!" she didn't even wait for their responds and started heading up towards the mountain. They made it to the checkpoint where they received special earpieces to keep them connected. When they enter the prison, they were all lumped in with other Iwa Anbu.
Hinata lost sight of Deidara and Sasori because they all split up in three groups of four. She ended up with the captain which made her nervous because usually a captain could tell who was a member of their group. They ended up in a dark room in front of them was a window looking into another room that was so bright that she had to squid and saw Sasuke in there.
But he wasn't alone in his cell because Naruto, Kakashi and Sakura was also in there. She could hear her heart beat pounding in her ears and her palms were sweaty watching them interact. Hinata told herself to calm down to remember the mission and what she came here to do. She had close her heart and see them as enemies.
"Hey it is our turn to watch the prisoner!" the captain with the hawk mask barked into an intercom at them. Kakashi signaled back to give them a minute as Sakura began to heal Sasuke's jaw.
This made the captain pressed the intercom button again.
"Hey you don't have permission to heal the prisoner! Get out of the holding cell now!"
Naruto looked agitate while the pink kunoichi was unable to finish as Kakashi told them it was time to go.
"What's your problem!" Naruto shouted at the captain as soon as he entered the room. Before it he could answer the silver nin intervened.
"Not now Naruto and sorry for taking up your time," as he grabbed a hold of his former student along with Sakura to haul them out room was when he paused and sniffed the air.
Hinata suddenly realizes that he had a keen sense of smell like Kiba and that even if she was under disguise her scent could never change.
"Shit shit shit what do I do!" internal she was panicking while trying to not let it show in her body language. She had to make sure not to say a word because her voice would be instantly recognize by them.
"Is there a reason your getting so close to my new recruit Hatake?" the captain narrowly his eyes at him.
Kakashi merely shook his head mumbled something underneath his breath think his sense of smell has to be off and left with the rest of team seven.
"What a pervert am I right rookie?" the captain suddenly elbowed Hinata in the ribs as she could nothing, but nod her head in agreement and rub her side.
"That was too close for comfort,"
"Can you believe they try to heal the prisoner captain?" the man in the dog mask remarked.
"I'm not surprised Leaf nin are the most softest and bleeding hearts out there," he laughed. Hinata noticed the other Anbu in Ox was one of Kabuto''s spies which was perfect they could two vs two if need be. She looked at the captain belt seeing a set of keys and looking at Sasuke in chains knowing one of them will unlock the stait jacket.
She need to figure out how to open his jail cell it seem that there was lever next to his door. The captain was engaged and distracted in conversation with other members of the Anbu. Hinata pretended to itch ear to turn on the earpiece in her quietness voice.
"Found him D," she hoped that he had all his bombs set up.
"Pretty good H," Deidara replied back before laughing like a maniac and screamed.
"Art is a bang!"
The earpiece went completely radio silence and the entire place was rocked by a series of explosions in the distant. Alarms and flashing lights were blaring as Ox stabbed Dog in the back. Hinata with the quickness drew her katana and slashed the captain's neck as blood sprayed all over her tiger mask that she forced to close her eyes.
"You t-traitorous bitch!" he chocked hold his neck before collapsing in a pool of his own blood.
Hinata breathing heavily as she hurriedly grabbed the keys from his belt put her bloodied katana back in the sheath. Pulling the lever and she ran next to Sasuke who stare at her with glossy and lifeless eyes.
"Was he blind?" she fumbled the keys before finding the right key to unlocking the chains. As soon as he was free he shot lightning out narrowly missing her head and hitting Kabuto''s spy right in the chest instantly killing him. She fell to her knees out of fear as he stood up towering her shaking his chains off.
"Who are you and why are you breaking me out?" when she didn't answer right away he yanked her up by her bloody collar.
Don't think I'd missed on purpose kunoichi," Sasuke to make sure she didn't underestimate him just because he was going blind.
