Confessions ~ Splossom
"Romeo, I need yer help!" Specs came bursting into Romeo's room, almost knocking over a potted plant on his way.
"Wazzup?" Romeo asked.
"You were right!" Specs flopped onto Romeo's bed, hiding his face in the pillows.
"Ha! I told ya LeBron James' hair is a hologram!" Romeo fist bumped the air.
"Wha- no, not that! You were right about Blossom," Specs sat up, adjusting his glasses. Romeo gasped and did a little victory dance.
"I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! Have you asked her out yet?" Romeo sat down next to Specs. "I need to know all the details."
"I- I ain't done anything yet… I came ta ask you for advice…" Specs' foot tapped rapidly on the floor.
"Hold up, you's askin' me ta give you advice?" Romeo smirked.
"Well- you's the romance guy, right?"
"Yes, yes I am," Romeo said with a proud smile. "Ask me whateva' ya want."
"How do I- y'know…. How do I tell her?" Specs blushed and hid his head in his hands.
Romeo's smirk grew bigger as he stood up and grabbed a notebook. "Firstly…." As Romeo started a whole story about 'confessing your love' Specs zoned out. Did he really like her? Was it love or just a stupid crush? Did she like him back? Would she hate him if he told her? All those questions circled around his mind.
"So, in conclusion you should do what I just told ya and it'll all be amazing!" Romeo exclaimed.
"Huh, wha-" Specs looked up at Romeo, who was suddenly wearing a sparkly, pink hat and holding a cheerleader stick.
"Ya didn't listen ta me at all, did ya?" Romeo asked, taking off his hat.
"No, no, I did! Ya gotta… with a hat and a… a stick?"
"Look, if ya want my advice you gotta actually listen!" Romeo softly hit Specs on his head with the stick.
"I wanted ta listen, but I just- I zoned out, I guess…"
"Zoned out thinkin' 'bout her?" Romeo sat down on the floor, looking up with a grin.
"I dunno…," Specs said, while Romeo raised an eyebrow. "Fine, yes. Yes, I was… I mean, what if she hates me afta' I tell her? Or if things just become really awkard? We's great friends as it is, I don' need anything changin' that."
"You idiot!" Romeo facepalmed and let out a deep sigh. "If ya don' tell her you'll just be waitin' around endlessly until she says somethin', which may neva' happen!"
"I guess you're right but-"
"No. No buts, you's gonna tell her," Romeo stated.
"Fine…" Specs' phone buzzed in his pocket. "Huh?"
"What?"
"Katherine just invited me to a fancy party…" Specs read the message again. "It's to celebrate some big accomplishment a' Pulitzer and she wants me ta be there…."
"Weird, why would she invite you for a fancy party? No offense."
"None taken," Specs mumbled. "I think I'll go, just ta see what it's like… and who knows, maybe Blossom will be there."
"Oh, a confession at a fancy party! So romantic," Romeo giggled before Specs shoved him off the bed.
"Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together, dancing cheek to cheek"
As Cheek To Cheek by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong started playing, Blossom slowly made her way over to the snack table… again. Pulitzer's party may have been incredibly boring, but at least it had some nice food that she could easily snatch from the table every once in a while. She felt incredibly out of place, wearing her second hand dress while most of the guests were wearing expensive dresses or suits. Sometimes she could see one of those fancy assholes stare at her like she was a rotting piece of fruit on their cake.
"And who may you be?" A middle-aged woman, wearing a very pink dress, approached Blossom.
"Blossom Miller, I'm uh… I'm the gardener." She held out her hand, but the woman completely ignored it.
"Ah, so you're the girl Katherine talked about? I'm not going to lie, I expected a bit… more," the woman said, her voice dripping with arrogance and judgement. "See, I've known Katherine basically her whole life, she's honestly a perfect girl, very talented and well-behaved…." The woman continued rambling about how Katherine was amazing and deserved much better than a gardener as a friend.
If only you knew who she's dating, Blossom thought as she smiled and nodded, pretending to completely agree with the woman. Internally she prayed for someone to come free her from this torment.
"Hey, Blossom!"
"Specs, hi!" Blossom exclaimed, thanking whatever higher power had granted her wish. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, Katherine invited me, not sure why tho…" Specs nervously fixed the sleeves of his surprisingly good-looking suit.
"So, you're another friend of Katherine's… Specs?" The woman asked, scanning Specs up and down, judging his appearance.
"Yeah, but my name ain't- isn't really Specs, ma'am." He smiled sheepishly. "It's Daniel… Wilson, Daniel Wilson." He didn't do a very good job at pretending he didn't hate that name.
"Ah… Mr. Wilson… I'll leave you two alone now." The woman walked away.
"What the hell was that?" Specs frowned and watched as the woman started talking to some of her friends, occasionally glancing at the corner where he and Blossom were standing.
"That… was probably some kind of demon trapped in a human body… I bet that was what inspired JK Rowling to write Umbridge!"
"That sounds 'bout right," Specs laughed, making Blossom's heart want to jump out of her chest. God, she loved that laugh.
"So, where did you get such a fancy suit?" She asked.
"Oh… it's an old one a' Kloppmann. If it wasn't for him I woulda probably shown up in jeans and a button up," Specs confessed. "I'm glad I didn't."
"You owe him, these people would've destroyed you."
"Yeah, I owe him a lot… Do ya know why Katherine invited us?"
"I have no clue…." Now that Blossom thought about it, it was pretty weird Katherine invited her and Specs. Well, inviting Blossom wasn't so strange, more practical. Her shift had ended ten minutes before the party started, so Katherine offered if she'd like to stay and join the party. Why she'd invited Specs was a mystery to her. Maybe, because Specs was most likely to not break down the place? It still didn't quite make sense to her. She wasn't complaining though.
"See, I always thought Pulitzer ate like really fancy rich people stuff, but Henry could make this and it'd taste ten times betta'," Specs mumbled carefully, making sure none of the other guests could hear him.
"I have no doubt, his sandwiches are the best." Blossom took a look at the living room, everything had been cleaned that morning. In her opinion it was boring, but Pulitzer clearly didn't think so as he went around bragging about his amazing house. Not one comment about the garden of course. That's when she had an amazing idea. The garden.
"Specs, how about we just go and hang outside for a bit?"
"Gladly."
"Lemme just…" Blossom slowly took a plate with a bunch of fruit from the snack table before rushing outside. She was closely followed by Specs.
Unlike the living room, the garden was empty and quiet. They immediately ran over to the bunnies in the corner of the garden. It was the place where they spent most of their time in the garden.
"Honestly, bunnies are the superior animals," Specs said, holding Nero, the calmest of the bunnies, in his arms, while sitting down on the ground.
"I have to agree, they're amazing, definitely the best thing about my job," Blossom sat down next to him, holding Jasper. "I love them."
"Yeah, me too…" Specs took a piece of melon from the plate. "Why do rich people suck?"
"I have no idea… I'm sure not all of them suck."
"Most of them do tho. At least da rich people I met."
"What about Medda? She seems great from what you've told me," Blossom asked, grabbing a piece of pineapple.
"Oh, Medda's great! She actually seems ta care 'bout us, unlike some other people…" Specs stared at the house where Pulitzer was now talking to the pink dress lady. "Blossom, can I ask you somethin'?"
"Yeah, of course, what is it?"
"I… I've just been wonderin' lately…have you ever… been, y'know, in love?" He looked at her for a second before looking away again.
"Yeah, yeah I think so."
"Do you- did you… how'd it feel?"
"I… great, I guess. Whenever I see- saw him I could feel my heart do a little flip. When he smiled or laughed I couldn't help but laugh too…. But there was also this fear, I think. The fear of him not feeling the same and that I'd… I'd never be more than 'just a good friend'."
Specs nodded as he seemed to think about something, like he was trying to make a big decision.
"What are you thinking about?" Blossom asked, moving a little closer.
"I uh… I'm not sure…" He looked everywhere except for Blossom's eyes.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?"
"Yeah… I know, it's just that- it's… this- it's something…. What the hell, I gotta tell it to ya someday." Specs took a deep breath and adjusted his glasses before he continued. "Blossom I… this ain't really easy for me, I've never really… not like this. Look, you matter to me, in a way that no one has before. I can't stop thinking 'bout you and- and I don' think I really want to stop. I like thinking 'bout you, it, it makes things seem a little better. You make things seem better. When you smile I-I," Specs stuttered a bit as he looked at Blossom. "It feels like everything will be alright. Like when you're here nothin' can go wrong. And I know I'm… me…. But what I'm tryin' ta tell you is… I like you. A lot."
Internally, Blossom was screaming. This was what she'd been waiting for. Now she just had to say she liked him back.
"I'm gonna be honest, I wasn't expecting that."
You absolute idiot. Blossom mentally punched herself. What kind of response is that?
"I'm sorry, I should've-"
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I uh… You didn't let me finish!" Blossom exclaimed. "E-everything you just said… it- it perfectly adds up, I-I-I-I… I think, I know, I-"
"Okay, okay, okay, hold up. My brain is exploding, do you…."
Blossom chuckled a bit. "I like you too. God, that sounds so stupid compared to what you just said."
"No! It's… it's the best thing I've heard in a long time."
"So…" Blossom stared at the bunny in her arms for a while. "Does that mean we're, y'know…. Are we dating?"
"I'd like that, a lot. Would you-"
"Yes, yes of course, you idiot. I wouldn't have suggested it if I didn't."
Specs laughed and stood up as a slow song started playing from inside the house. He bowed and offered his hand. "Blossom Miller, will you take this dance with me?" He asked, summoning his best impression of a rich person.
"Why of course, Mr Wilson," Blossom accepted and laughed at the face Specs made when hearing his last name. She took his hand and he pulled her up. Constantly tripping and standing on each other's feet, they danced around the garden.
Meanwhile Katherine was looking at them through the window. "Who could've known it would actually happen?" she asked herself with a smirk. Quickly she opened her phone. "Romeo, you're not going to freaking believe this… your plan worked."
BOOM THEY'RE OFFICIALLY DATING NOW. THEY WERE ALREADY DATING IN MY LAST SPLOSSOM ONE-SHOT BUT WE'RE GONNA IGNORE THAT. Please do tell me what you thought of this in a review, it would make my day
