Lorelai got home around four that afternoon she locked her gun away in the safe before heading into the kitchen. It was quiet. She knew her dad had taken Jack to an appointment, but Rachel should have been home. She went upstairs to her room and knocked she heard some movement inside.

"Come in." Rachel called out after about thirty seconds

Lorelai went inside the room and looked around. "Hey."

"Hey. What's up?" Rachel asked seeming a little nervous

"Not much. How was your day?" Lorelai asked

"Fine. Uneventful." She said quickly

Lorelai tilted her head. "It sounded like someone was in here with you." Lorelai said.

"Nope." Rachel said also quickly

Lorelai raised her eyebrow and walked over to the closet opening the door to find a teenage boy hiding in there. "Really? Than who is this?" She asked

"Um. Well. I. We. We were just studying." Rachel said

Lorelai looked around the room there were no books or studying materials out. "Studying? What? The paint on your walls?" She asked.

Rachel sighed. "Please don't tell dad."

Lorelai looked at the boy and stepped out of his way. "You can find your way home?" She asked him.

"Um. Yes." He said as he stepped out of the closet and headed outside downstairs and leaving.

Lorelai turned back to her sister. "Really?"

"What?" Rachel asked

"Did you really think that I wouldn't know someone else was in here?" She asked her younger sister with a chuckle.

"I hoped you wouldn't." She said annoyed.

"Little tip when you are asking someone a favor don't give them attitude." Lorelai told her

"Sorry. So will you keep my secret?" Rachel asked

"Is this the first time you have had a guy here when no one else is?" Lorelai asked

Rachel sighed. "No."

Lorelai nodded "I see. Are you having sex?"

"No!" Rachel said "We're just friends. I promise." Rachel told her older sister

"Okay. I had to ask. So why don't you just wait till dad, or I are here to have him over to hang out?" Lorelai asked

"Because you never are." Rachel mumbled.

"That's not true. Either way you know the rules. Dad doesn't want you alone with a guy here." She said

"And you were never alone with Spencer. A guy you actually dated." Rachel said

"I was. But that's different. He is a co-worker." Lorelai said. "And we were never alone here for more than a few minutes and we weren't dating at the time. We were not in my room with the door closed and I never tried to hide him in my closet so dad wouldn't find out." She added. "Oh, and since I don't know if you know Spencer and I have started dating again." She told her sister

"Whatever." Rachel said

Lorelai nodded. "Well, if your going to be that way there is no way I'm not telling dad." She said leaving her room and closing the door behind her.

Lorelai went downstairs and checked to make sure there was something thawing for dinner before she went and changed into something more comfortable. She was finishing up when she heard the front door open. She took a breathe and went downstairs to see her dad and brother in the kitchen. Jack saw her and started telling her all about her dentist appointment.

Lorelai smiled. When he was done, he ran off to go play.

She looked up at her dad. "So went well than?"

Aaron chuckled and nodded. "I'm glad he's not afraid of the dentist. You get your weapon?" He asked

"Yes. It is locked in the safe." She told him

"Good." He said as he went back to getting himself a coffee.

"So. Um. There is something I need to tell you." Lorelai said. She hated that she had to do this, but she knew it was the right thing to do.

Aaron turned back to her. "Okay. What?" He asked

"Maybe you should sit." Lorelai suggested.

"Nope. Talk." Aaron said

Lorelai nodded. "When I got home it was quiet. I went to check on Rachel. Found a teenage guy, hiding in her closet." She said

Aaron sighed. "I see. I take it the young man is gone?"

"Yes. I made sure he left." Lorelai told him.

"Were they… Doing something they shouldn't?" He asked

"Not sure. She told me they were studying but they didn't have any books out or anything. I also asked her if it was the first time she had him here and she said no. She also said when asked that they were just friends." She told him

Aaron nodded. "I feel like there is more to that." He said

Lorelai let out a breathe "she says their not having sex." Lorelai said

Aaron nodded. "Okay. Well, I am glad you asked her that. She seemed to be honest?" He asked

"Yes and no. I don't think they were studying. But I do think that she was truthful that they are just friends" Lorelai said.

Aaron nodded. "I will talk to her about it."

Lorelai nodded. "Also think you should know when I asked her if they were just friends why she didn't just have him over when you or I are here, and she responded with we are never here."

"Okay. Thank you for letting me know." He told her "Did she ask you not to tell me?" he asked.

She reluctantly answered. "Yeah."

Aaron nodded. "Okay. Keep an eye on Jack for me please."

Lorelai nodded. "Can do."

Aaron went upstairs and knocked on Rachel's door

Rachel took a breathe. She knew who it was. "Yeah. Come in." She said

Aaron went in and took a seat on her bed and looked over at her sitting at her desk. "Lets talk." He said

Rachel turned to look at him. "I'm sorry." She said softly

Aaron nodded. "For what?"

"For having a guy over when no one else was here." She said

Aaron nodded again. "Why didn't you just wait till Lorelai, or I were here. Or when Miss Dancy is here when Lorelai and I are away for work." He asked

"I don't know." She answered

"I don't believe you don't have a reason." He said.

"Well, if you think you know what do you think is the reason?" She said with an annoyed attitude

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?" He said

"You heard me." She said in the same tone

"Rachel, you need to change you attitude. Right. Now." He told her firmly.

"Or what?" She asked testing him.

Aaron took a breathe and got up. "When you are ready to talk to me in a respectful way come find me. Until than you're grounded." He told her before he left her room and went downstairs.

Lorelai was sitting on the couch with Jack reading him his favorite book.

Aaron went and grabbed the coffee he had started before and went and sat in his office looking though a cold case file while he drank his coffee.

When Lorelai was done reading the book, she looked at Jack. "I'm going to start dinner." She told him giving him the book to look through himself before getting up and going to the kitchen and starting to make dinner. Once everything was in the oven she went to the office.

"What case are you looking at?" She asked

"Old cold case. From before you were part of the FBI. It's the 10-year anniversary this week." He told her.

Lorelai nodded. "What was the crime?"

"Sting of murders. Men aged 20-25 from all over California were brutally murdered in a six-month period and than the murders just stopped." He told her

Lorelai nodded. "Are you okay?" She asked

Aaron looked up at her. "Why wouldn't I be?" He asked

"Dad. I'm a profile. I have learned from the best. I know something bothering you." She said

"Lorelai. I am the parent you're the child I'm not going to put things on you." He said

"Oh. Okay." She said softly she walked away and went to the kitchen. She was hurt.

Aaron put the case file down and leaned back into his chair. He realized he just upset Lorelai. He got up and went to the kitchen where he found her chopping up lettuce for a salad. "Lorelai. I apologize." He told her.

"It's fine. All you did was state the truth." She said as she continued to make a salad.

"Lorelai. Please look at me." He said.

"I'm busy right now." She said

"Okay. When you are ready to talk, we can." He said. He wasn't angry he knew she just needed time.

He went and sat down with Jack the only kid in the house who wasn't mad at him. A few minutes later there was a yelp from the kitchen. He got up quickly and went to find Lorelai running a finger under water.

"What happened?" he asked

"Nothing. I'm fine." She said her voice shaky.

Aaron went over. "Lorelai your not fine." He said softly.

"Its just a little cut." She told him

Aaron went and got her a bandage and brought it back to her. "Here." he told her.

Lorelai dried her finger with paper towel and put the bandage on. "Thanks." She said looking down.

"Lorelai. I'm sorry I upset you. I didn't mean it to come off that harsh." He said

"You're not wrong. You are the parent." She said

"Yes. But you are not a child. Our father daughter relationship is not ordinary. That being said. It wouldn't be right for me to put my feelings on your shoulders." He said

Lorelai nodded. "I understand that. But do you have someone to talk to?" She asked

"Yes. I do." He told her.

"Is it something Rachel said?" She asked

"Lorelai." He said

"Come on dad. I just want to help." She said

"And you did. You told me what happened. You're her sister not her parent." He said

"Yes. But that doesn't mean I cant help." She said

"Lorelai. I have it handled." He told her

"Fine." She said slightly annoyed. "Dinner will be ready in about 30 minutes. I am going for a drive." She told him. She walked away from him. Grabbed her keys and bag and went out to her car.

Lorelai was upset. She didn't want to be at home, but she didn't want to be alone either, so she drove to Spencer's.

"Hey." She said when Spencer opened his door.

"Hey. This is a nice surprise." He said as he let her in.

She smiled a bit. "I just didn't want to be alone and didn't want to be at home." She told him

Spencer nodded. "Something happen?" He asked as she sat down on his couch

He sat down next to her.

Lorelai nodded. "Got in a fight with my dad." She told him

"Oh. Want to share?" He asked

Lorelai shrugged.

"Studies show if you talk about why your upset it can help." He told her

Lorelai smiled. "Your facts are one of the reasons I love you." She said than she realized what she had said and looked away. That was the first time she said that to him.

Spencer smiled. "I love you too." He said

Lorelai felt her heart flutter. "You do?" She said softly looking back at him

He nodded. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it." He told her. "You meant it right? It wasn't just because of how you're feeling?" He asked

"I do mean it. Yes, maybe it was easier to say because I'm a little emotional, but I do mean it." She said looking him in the eyes.

He nodded. "You're sure you don't want to share?" He asked

Lorelai shrugged. And she just started talking. She told him everything that had happened since she gotten home that day. She teared up a few times clearly fighting with her dad and sister had put a toll on her emotional state.

When she was done Spencer pulled her into a hug and held her for a few minutes.

"I don't know what to do." Lorelai said

Spencer shook his head "Yes you do. You know what you do. You just don't -want to because its going to be hard."

Lorelai sighed. "But I didn't do anything wrong." She said

"No. Technically you didn't. But. You're not responsible for your sister. You've spent so many years with the role of parent, and I have noticed when it comes to Rachel and even Jack you try to parent them. You know that's not your responsibility. You need to step back and let your dad handle that." He told her

Lorelai looked down. "Its so hard."

"I know. And no doubt your dad knows that too. He's just trying to help you." Spencer told her

Lorelai ran her fingers through her hair.

"You are eighteen years old. You don't need to be a parent." He told her

"I just want to help. He is a single parent…" Lorelai said

"Yes, but he has a lot of support from others. You need to just be a typical eighteen-year-old." He told her. "And you can help without parenting." He added

"I know you're right." Lorelai told him

Spencer squeezed her knee gently. "So, what are you going to do?" He asked encouragingly

"Go home and apologize." She said

"And?" he asked

"Stop trying to be a parent." She said sounding defeated

Spencer nodded and kissed her softly. "One day when you are ready you will be a parent. And a great one."

Lorelai smiled "Thanks."

Spencer looked at the time. "Did you have dinner?" He asked

"No. I was making dinner when the argument started, I left my dad to finish it. I was upset." She said

Spencer nodded. "Do you want to go home and eat? Or we can get something to eat here?" He offered

"I think I should go home." She told him.

Spencer smiled "I think that is the right choice."

They both got up Spencer walked her to the door. He gave her a hug before she left.

Lorelai went inside when she got home they were all sitting at the table eating.

Aaron looked up. "You're back. Are you hungry?" he asked

"Yeah. A bit." She said

"Come sit and eat." He told her

Lorelai sat down and ate with them.

Rachel was just poking at her food at dinner, and it took everything in Lorelai's being to not say something. Aaron noticed also but decided not to bring it up at the table.

When they were done eating Lorelai started to clean up the table and Jack helped. Rachel went back to her room. When they were done Lorelai went and found her dad in the living room.

"Hey." She said softly

Aaron looked up from his book. "Hi."

Lorelai sat down across from him. "I'm sorry." She said

Aaron nodded. "For what?" he asked

"For trying to be a parent and not just a sister." She told him. "I'll try to be better." She added

Aaron nodded. "I'm not angry. I understand you were trying to help and while I appreciate it, its not your responsibility." He said

Lorelai nodded. "Yeah. That's what Spencer said too."

He nodded. "Well Spencer is as you know very intelligent." Aaron pointed out

Lorelai chuckled. "Yes, he is."

"So are you." Aaron told his daughter

Lorelai nodded. "I know."

They talked for a few more minutes before Rachel came into the living room.

"Dad…I'm sorry." Rachel said

Lorelai got up. "I'm… going to go draw." She said leaving the room.

Aaron pointed to the chair. "Sit."

Rachel sat down.

"Sorry for what?" He asked

"Having the guy over here when no one else was. Giving you attitude." Rachel told him

He nodded. "Are we going to be able to have a conversation now?" He asked

Rachel nodded. "Yes daddy."

Aaron took a breathe. She rarely called him daddy. "Good. Why did you have a boy over when no one else was here?" He asked

"You are Lorelai can be very intimidating. I didn't want him to get scared away." Rachel told him

Aaron raised an eyebrow and smirked "That's not an excuse to break the rules."

"I know… I just…" She was starting to say something but stopped.

"But you like this boy and didn't see any other way?" He offered

Rachel looked down. "Yes… I didn't lie to Lorelai. We are just friends. But I want to maybe be more." She said

Aaron nodded. "What were you doing with him when Lorelai knocked on your door?" He asked

Rachel pulled at her ear a bit. "We were um.."

"I am going to stop you before you come up with a lie. I want the truth." Aaron told his daughter

"We were kissing… a little" Rachel told him

Aaron nodded. "Rachel. You're thirteen. You are to young to be getting involved with boys."

"And that's why I hide things." She told him honestly

"Rachel. There is a reason I have these rules. Its to protect you. And because I see what can happen if people get involved to young." He told her

"I'm not other people." She said

"No. You are thirteen and while you are very smart you are young and young people don't always think before they do things." He said. "And even though I do trust you and I trust you have no intentions of doing more than kissing sometimes we do things we don't intend to when are heart and emotions are involved." He told her.

Rachel sighed. "I get to make my own decisions about my love life." She said

"When you are sixteen you can start dating or get involved with anyone on that level. Until than no you do not. I am the parent. If you choose to break the rules there will be consequences." Aaron told her.

"I cant control my feelings." She said

"I know. I'm not saying you cant be attracted to people. No, you cant control that. But you are not allowed to start -dating till your sixteen. And until you are eighteen you are not allowed to have someone you have are involved with here unless an adult is here also. Those are the rules. Like it or not." He told her.

Rachel sighed. "Fine."

"If you, do it again you will not be allowed to be here alone again. Got it?" He asked

Rachel nodded. "Understood."

Aaron nodded. "You are grounded for one week. Someone will be picking you up from school everyday for the next week. You will be brought to the office. If Lorelai or I are not there you will be hanging out with Penny." He told her he would have to let the team know but he knew they wouldn't have an issue with it.

Rachel sighed. "What about Jack who is going to watch him?" She asked

"Miss Darcy." He said

"Cant I just come home with her?" She suggested.

"Nope." Aaron said.

Rachel nodded. She wasn't going to argue.

Rachel went over and hugged her dad before going upstairs to finish her homework.

Aaron looked at his watch before getting up and going to get Jack ready for bed. The rest of the night passed by. Slowly everyone headed to bed to get ready to get up early the next morning.
