"How was school today Jack?" She asked
"It was good." He said.
Jack dropped his bag and coat by the door.
"Please take your bag to your room." Lorelai said as she picked up his coat to hang it up for him.
"I'm hungrrrry." He whined
"I can get you a snack and it will be ready when you come back down." She said
"I'll do it after my snack." He said
"Nope. Bag to your room. Now." She said
Jack stomped his foot.
"Jack. You are taking your bag to your room. Now. You have two choices. You do it and come back down or you throw a fit and have to stay up there for awhile." She said
Jack sulked and picked up his bag and stomped all the way to his room.
Lorelai hung up his coat and went to the kitchen and figured he was just tired and hungry that after he has a snack he will be fine.
She grabbed him some goldfish and milk and put it on the table. He came back down and sat down and ate his snack.
Lorelai left him to have his snack and went to her room and rubbed some heat cream on her knee because it was very sore after it had seized.
She came back out, and Jack was already watching TV.
Lorelai looked at him. "Do you have any homework?" She asked him. He knew that dad expected homework to be done before any TV.
Jack shook his head.
Lorelai nodded. He didn't always have homework.
Lorelai was watching TV with Jack when Rachel came in an hour later. Lorelai got up and went to say hi
"Hey." Lorelai said.
"Hi" Rachel responded
"How was school?" Lorelai asked
"Okay." She said
"Good." Lorelai said.
Rachel went and put her stuff away before coming down and finding herself a snack before going back to her room to start on her homework.
Lorelai went and started to prep food for dinner she got some chicken in the oven and rice in a rice cooker and green beans to make a green bean salad. As she was cooking Aaron came home.
"Hey, how was therapy?" He asked his daughter
"It was intense. I had to use the heat rub when I got home." She said
Aaron nodded. "Okay. Did Jack do his homework?" He asked
"Doesn't have any." She said
"Did you check his agenda?" he asked
"No…I asked him he said he didn't have any." She said looking up. "Should I have looked?" She never had done that before
"Well, he has been lying about it lately." He said
"I didn't know that…" She said
Aaron nodded. He went to Jack's room and grabbed his agenda and looked in it. He sighed; the boy had lied. Again. He brought the agenda down and showed his daughter. "He lied to you."
Lorelai looked upset. "I'm sorry."
"No. He -lied to you. You do not need to be sorry." He said
"I should have checked." She pointed out
"You had assumed he wouldn't lie." He said
Lorelai nodded.
"Do you want me to handle it, or do you want to confront him yourself?" He asked
"I don't know…" She said, "You always like to tell me I am not the parent." She added
"Yes. But he lied to -you. Yes you are not his parent, but you were in charge, and he lied to you." He said. "If you want me to I will handle it. I just don't want him thinking he can get away with lying to you." He said.
Lorelai nodded.
"I mean I'm sure you don't like that he lied to you." He pointed out
"No. I don't like it." She agreed.
"You are his big sister, and he knew he was lying to you." He pointed out.
Lorelai took a breathe and took the agenda and went and turned off the TV. "You lied to me Jack." She said putting the agenda down on the coffee table.
Jack looked up ready to complain about the TV being shut off. "You went in my bag? That's mine!" He said
Lorelai crossed her arms. "That is not what this discussion is about. Go get your homework and get started. Now." She said
"NO!" Jack said
Lorelai took a breathe. "I wasn't given you a choice."
Jack refused to move. "Okay, fine. Don't do it but don't forget I am looking after you all week after school and there will be no TV for the week if you don't."
"I'll tell daddy you were mean when he gets home if you don't let me watch TV." He said clearly unaware that he was already home and listening.
Aaron was nearby listening in. He wanted to step in but wouldn't help unless Lorelai asked.
"Go ahead. But let's get one thing straight here little brother you are not in charge. So go get your homework and come and do it. I am not asking I am telling you." She reiterated
Jack didn't move. Lorelai noticed her dad around the corner and shot him a please help look.
Aaron came into the living room. "Jack Hotchner do what you were told. Now." He said
Jack jumped up realizing that he was already home. "Daddy! Lorelai was being mean to me!"
"Don't you lie to me Jack." He told his son he was not happy with the boy
Jack started to cry fake tears.
"Cut the fake tears. You have two minutes if you are not at the table with your homework in that time there will be no TV for two weeks."
Jack stopped crying when he was called out and ran upstairs quickly.
Lorelai looked defeated. Aaron went over to her. "I'm sorry I should have handled it from the beginning." He said giving her a hug
"Yeah, cause he doesn't respect me enough to listen." She said sadly she gave him a hug before she went to the kitchen to check on dinner.
Aaron was going to say something, but she left before he could stop her.
Jack came back down with his stuff and sat at the table. Aaron went over. "Do you need help?" He asked his son.
Jack shook his head and got to work.
There would be a conversation had later with Jack but for now he needed to do his homework.
He went to Lorelai. "Hey." He said softly
Lorelai wiped at her eyes a bit "Hi." She responded.
"Can we go have a chat?" He asked
"Why? So, you can tell me its not my fault?" She said a bit snippy.
Aaron knew she was upset and was going to give her a little leeway. "Lorelai I understand you're upset when you want to come talk I will be in my office. Jack is doing his homework if he doesn't continue to let me know." He told her.
Lorelai nodded.
Lorelai was mixing up the salad when she felt something hit her head and heard it hit the floor. She looked down. It was a pink eraser. Lorelai picked it up and went and put it back on the table before going back to the salad. She wasn't going to react.
A few minutes later something else hit her head and landed on the counter. It was a pencil this time. She looked up at him. "Do you need help?" she asked him
"No. I don't like you anymore." He said.
Lorelai nodded. "Well, I still love you." She picked up the pencil and put it out of the way.
She was finishing up in the kitchen when her head was hit with something harder than before and slammed on the floor and it sounded as if a lot of things fell at the same time. It did kind of actually hurt. She looked down. It was a hard plastic pencil box and its and its contents were sprawled on the floor. Lorelai took a breathe and walked out of the kitchen. She was pissed and really emotionally hurt.
Aaron had heard the bang from his office and went towards the kitchen. He passed her and she had tears steaming down her face. "What happened?" He asked her
Lorelai shook her head and just walked past him. Aaron went into the kitchen and saw the things on the ground and put it all together. He went over to his son. "Jack. Did you throw your pencil box at Lorelai?" he asked his voice very low he was livid with the boy.
"She's mean." He said arms crossed.
Aaron pointed to the stuff on the ground. "Go pick it up. Now." He said. He didn't know what else to say at the moment.
Jack did as he was told and went and picked up the pencil box and its contents. He brought it back to the table.
"Are you done your homework?" he asked the boy.
Jack nodded. Aaron looked though and found what was in the agenda listed as homework was done. "Go. To your room." He said
Jack went.
Aaron checked on the food and saw there was about twenty minutes left on the rice and chicken and that the green bean salad was not finished yet. Aaron quickly finished it and set it in the fridge for now. He went upstairs to Lorelai's room and knocked.
"Yea…" She said
Aaron went in. "Are you okay? Physically I mean." He asked
"Yeah. It hit my head and it hurt a bit but I'm fine." She said
Aaron nodded. "Emotionally?" He asked
Lorelai shook her head. "No. I'm not." She said
Aaron nodded. "I promise he will be dealt with appropriately."
"I'm sure he will." She said
"I will finish up dinner okay?" He said
Lorelai nodded.
"I love you and so does Jack even if he isn't acting like it." He told her leaving her room and letting her be alone.
Aaron finished dinner and called the kids down. All three kids came down and the four of them ate dinner.
Rachel could sense the tension and wasn't thinking. "What did I miss?" she asked
"Nothing that you need to worry about." Aaron told her.
"Sorry…" She said quickly.
"Oh, so she only has to worry about it when he turns the anger on her than?" Lorelai said in a disrespectful way getting up and walking away from the table when she was done.
Aaron was surprised and Rachel was regretting her question even more. When Jack finished Aaron sent him back to his room. Jack sulked but went when he got a look from his father.
Aaron looked at Rachel. "Jack isn't listening to Lorelai. And is treating her badly" he told her. "I just don't want you to worry about it. Okay?" He said
Rachel nodded. "The last time I heard Lorelai react like that… Was at the old foster home…"
Aaron sighed and thought for a moment. "Did anyone ever throw things at her while she was cooking there?" He asked
Rachel nodded. "-She did…" indication their former foster mother
Aaron nodded. "Thank you. Did you finish your homework?"
"I've got my science test tomorrow I am going to study some more." She told her
Aaron smiled. "Thank you. You can go." He said
Rachel went, she was done eating anyways.
Aaron sat at the table for a good hour just thinking. He had texted Dave and asked him for advice on what to do.
Dave texted him back. 'Aaron. I think you know what you need to do. I know it's not easy. But this is not the first time he has disobeyed the person in charge. Or thrown things. And he threw it at his sister. I get it he's only six, but he knows what he is doing is wrong.'
Aaron knew he was right. He had spanked the boy before but only ever a few swats. He knew the boy needed to know that this was very wrong and that he needed to learn quickly not to do it again. He got up and went to the boy's room and knocked on the door before going in.
Jack looked up from his bed where he was looking at a book.
"Jack Hotchner I am just so unbelievably shocked at what you did. You threw something hard. -At your sister. You hurt her. I remember how sad you were when Rachel accidently hurt her and you than do this on purpose." He said. "It is -never okay to throw things at anyone." He added
Jack mumbled that he was sorry.
"And that was on top of lying to her and not doing what you were told. We have talked about listening to the person in charge and you didn't. Again." He said sitting down on his bed. "I am really disappointed in you. And this is the most trouble you have ever been in." He told the boy
The boy nodded.
"Come here." He told the boy.
Jack did as he was told. Aaron put him across his lap and removed his pants and underwear and started to spank him. The spanking wasn't long, but it was the most swats that he had ever given the boy. When the boy was sobbing Aaron fixed his clothes and picked him up and hugged him till he calmed down. Aaron looked at him. "There will be no TV for one week." He told his son.
Jack was sad but didn't argue. Aaron told him that he loves him and hopped he would never have to deal with him again for that. He also sent him to apologize to Lorelai.
Jack went and knocked on her door.
"What?" She said in an angry tone
Jack went in. "I'm sorry…" He said
"Okay." She responded. She was not ready to forgive him.
Aaron told Jack to get ready for bed after the apology. He looked at Lorelai. "I realize that the pencil case being thrown at you might have triggered something from your past. Do you want to talk about it?" He asked
"Nope." She said
Aaron nodded. "I am here if you do." He reminded her before he went to tuck in Jack and check on Rachel. The night ended and everyone went to bed.
