A week later they were called into help on a case in North Carolina. On the plane they were going over the case file
"Young women being abducted, tortured and murdered." JJ said.
They all looked at the pictures of their victims.
"Huh. They all look a bit like Agent Davies." Prentiss pointed out
Everyone took a second look at them.
Lorelai sighed. "Great. Someone else hates me."
"It might just be a coincidence." Agent Hotch said
Agent Davies looked at him. "Do you honestly believe that?"
"What cases have you worked on in North Carolina?" Rossi asked
"A few." Lorelai said
"Anyone from those who might be doing this to get your attention?" Morgan asked
Lorelai shrugged. "No open cases. Everyone who should be is in prison."
"Any of your former foster sibling in North Carolina?" Reid asked
"Why would any of them want to do this to get her attention?" Hotch asked
Lorelai sighed. "No. I don't believe any of them are in North Carolina."
"That doesn't answer my question Agent Davies." Hotch said.
"There is a personal problem going on. I will not discuss right now." Lorelai said
"If it could be connected to this case its no longer personal." Hotch said
"It's not." Lorelai said
"I don't think it could be connected." Agent Prentiss told Hotch backing up Lorelai
Hotch looked up at Prentiss.
"I know about the situation. I don't think it is connect." Prentiss told him
Hotch nodded. "Okay."
"What about Mitchel?" Prentiss asked
Lorelai looked up at Emily "Mitchel?"
"Guy from your first undercover case. The one you had to stop talking to because he got over attached and aggressive?" Prentiss said
Everyone looked at Prentiss while she spoke than looked at Lorelai for a more detailed explanation.
Lorelai rubbed her face with her hand. "Um. After the case. I made sure he was in a good facility. I even spoke with him on the phone once or twice a week for over two years and video chatted a few times when he was allowed." She started "I realized he was starting to get… overly attached. I told him that he and I would never be more than friends. He seemed a little disappointed but seemed to understand. Than Spencer and I started dating and I mentioned it to him. I realized than that he wasn't as understanding as I though. And that he had more issues than I realized. He got… to say angry is an understatement. I stopped talking to him that day. I made sure his therapist knew about all of it. I didn't think he was out…"
"Call the facility and see if he is still there." Hotch told her
Davies did as instructed. The jet was otherwise silent. Lorelai hung up a few minutes later. "He was released. Three days before the first abduction."
"Agent Davies your safety is likely at risk. You will be working the case from inside the police station." Hotch told her
"Hotch come on…" She started
"It is not up for debate." Hotch told her firmly
"Yes sir." She said slightly annoyed
When they got there. Hotch sent everyone to do their assigned task. Davies and JJ went to the police station to talk to the chief and set things up in a conference room. They started to look into Mitchel's movements since being out of the facility but couldn't find much. They did find that he had rented a white van and likely that was how he was transporting his victims.
They relayed the information to the team and those at the police station. Informing them of the guy they were looking for. They were there for a few hours when Reid and Morgan came back from one of the crime scenes. Morgan & JJ went to talk to the Chief about something leaving Reid and Davies alone.
Spencer looked at her. "You never told me you were keeping in contact with him." Spencer said
Lorelai looked up and made a face. "I didn't? Not even in the beginning when we first dated?" She asked
Spencer shook his head.
"I thought I had. I never meant to keep it a secret from you. I knew I didn't tell you he was getting attached. For the same reason I didn't tell my dad. You two are…overprotective. And if I had known -this would happen I would have told you both." Lorelai said
Spencer nodded. "You know I can be protective and not overreact."
"I'm sorry." Lorelai said. "I never meant to hurt you…" She added
Spencer nodded. "I realize that."
Lorelai knew he was hurt, and she couldn't do much to change that right now.
Spencer didn't say anything else she got back to work. They worked for three days and still couldn't find the man. They were all frustrated.
Lorelai needed some air. "I'm going to go outside to get some air. Just right outside the police station doors not further." She told Hotch
Hotch nodded. "Not a step further than the bench." He was concerned about her safety but knew he could tell she needed some air
"Got it." Lorelai said. She went outside and sat on a bench out there. She hadn't been outside since they got there. She was following the instructions of her boss, but it was hard. Lorelai felt herself being watched. She looked around but couldn't see anyone. She decided to go back inside but before she could Mitchel came out of nowhere and grabbed her and pulled her into a black van. He had clearly changed his vehicle.
