Lorelai was sitting at home board out of her mind. The rest of the team were in Idaho for a case and Lorelai refused to go. It wasn't in the small town, but it was Idaho, and she wasn't kidding when she said she couldn't go back there. She decided instead to take a few days off she could have stayed at the office and helped from there, but she decided not to risk being triggered. She was doing a lot better, and she didn't want to derail the progress she had made and Hotch understood and agreed it was best for her to sit this one out.

Lorelai was at home reading when she got a call. It was JJ calling her

"Hey JJ." She answered the phone

"Lorelai hey. I've been trying to get in contact with the babysitter she's not answering Will is out of town helping a friend and Kelsey needs to be picked up from school. I'm not even sure what happened but the school needs someone to come get her. I told them you would pick her up. Please." JJ said

"Of course, I will." Lorelai said getting up.

"I gave them your name you will need to show them ID." JJ said

"Yes. I understand. Want me to bring her to your place and check on the babysitter and Henry?" Lorelai asked

"Yes, please." JJ said

"I can do that. I'll let you know when I know what's going on." Lorelai said hanging up and heading out to Kelsey's school.

"Hello. I'm Lorelai Hotchner I'm here to pick up Kelsey LaMontagne." She said showing her ID she saw Kelsey sitting on one of the chairs in the office.

The secretary looked at the ID. "Okay."

"What happened?" Lorelai asked

"The principal will talk to her parents when they get back into town." The secretary told her

"She's not sick or hurt?" Lorelai asked

"No. Nothing like that." Lorelai was told

Lorelai looked at Kelsey. "Got everything you need?"

Kelsey nodded.

"Come on. Lets go." Lorelai said taking her out to her car and getting her into a booster seat. "You want to tell me what happened?" Lorelai asked

"No." Kelsey said

Lorelai nodded. "Okay."

She drove to JJ & Will's place.

"Why are you picking me up and not the babysitter?" Kelsey asked

"Your mom and dad couldn't get in contact with the babysitter for some reason." Lorelai told her. She pulled in and helped Kelsey out of her seat before going and knocking. There was no response. She tried the door, and it was locked.

She called JJ.

"You at the house?" JJ asked

"Yup. No one answered when I knocked. Door is locked." Lorelai said

"You can go in through the garage the code is 4792" JJ told her. Lorelai went and opened the garage and opened the door to the house.

"Hello. It's Lorelai Hotchner. I am here with Kelsey" She called out. "I'm a co-worker of Jennifer's"

No one seemed to be there

"Yeah no ones here JJ." Lorelai said she hadn't gotten off the phone with her

"Okay. Maybe she took him to the park or library or something." JJ said. "What happened with Kelsey?"

"Wouldn't tell me just told me she's not sick or hurt. Said they will talk to you or Will when you get back." Lorelai said

"And you accepted that?" JJ asked

"Well, I didn't want to overstep. Figure if I know she's not hurt or sick that's all that's important at the moment." Lorelai said

"Yes I agree but it's unlike you not to push things." JJ said with a chuckle in her voice

"Yeah. Okay. I'll call you when the babysitter and Henry get back. Bye." She said annoyed as she hung up

JJ called the sitter again and there was no answer.

Lorelai looked around the house everything seemed to be in order. "You hungry?" She asked Kelsey

Kelsey shook her head

"Something wrong?" Lorelai asked

"I'm going to be in trouble…." Kelsey told her

Lorelai sat with her. "What did you do?" she asked the young girl

"I didn't do what the teacher said." Kelsey said

Lorelai nodded. "Well, it had to be more than that for you to be sent home."

"I called her a stupid head." Kelsey said

Lorelai had to bite her cheek to keep from chuckling. No, it wasn't right for her to call her that, but she was pretty sure the teacher probably had been called worse.

"That was not nice Kelsey." Lorelai said

"I know…and when she sent me to the timeout chair I-I kicked it." Kelsey said

Lorelai sighed. "Kelsey. I think you should go to your room."

Kelsey went sadly.

About thirty minutes later there was a knock at the door. Lorelai went and opened it. There stood two police officers.

"Hello, can I help you?" Lorelai asked

"Yes. You must be Lorelai. Will called and asked us to find his son and babysitter just wanted to make sure they didn't come back here." They both showing her their badges

"Yes I'm Lorelai and no. They didn't come back here." She said inviting the officers in. "Everything seems to be in order here. Nothing seems out of place." She told them

"You know the babysitter at all?" They asked her

"No." Lorelai said.

"Were going to have a look around." One of the officers said

"Go ahead but I've done a full sweep of the house. No one is here outside of Kelsey and myself." Lorelai said

"I'm sure you did but as trained professionals I think we might see something you could have missed." The officer said

Lorelai smirked. "Will didn't tell you who I am did he."

"Family friend." The officer said

"Well, that isn't incorrect." She said. "But he left out a key point. I'm an FBI agent. I work with his wife."

The officer looked at her with a yeah right look.

"Okay, fine don't believe me but it's the truth. You do your search though." Lorelai said

She called Will.

"Hey Lorelai. Any news?" He asked

"Your co-workers are here. They are doing an additional search. They don't seem to believe I'm an FBI agent." She said

Will sighed. "I guess I forgot to mention that part. I'm sorry."

"No. Its okay. You have more important things on your plate. I want them found too. Just don't want them to overlook something I might find later on because they don't think I am qualified." Lorelai said.

"I will let them know. But stay with Kelsey please." Will said

"I'm not going anywhere." Lorelai said.

The officers came back to the kitchen. One of them read a text. "Apparently she is an FBI agent."

"She's a baby. How?" The other officer asked.

"I am very smart." She said answering the question. "However, that is irrelevant right now. Why don't you go do your job and find Henry." She said annoyed

The officers left.

Lorelai went and checked on Kelsey. She knocked on her door

"Come in." Kelsey said

Lorelai went in. "How are you doing?" She asked

"Sad. Where are Henry and Stacey?" Kelsey asked

"I'm not sure. The police are looking for them." Lorelai said

"Do mommy and daddy know where the are?" Kelsey asked

"No. The police will find them" Lorelai said

"Why don't you go find them?" Kelsey asked

"Because your mommy and daddy asked me to stay with you. The police will find them." Lorelai told her again

Kelsey nodded. "You going to tell them what I did at school?"

Lorelai shrugged. "Even if I don't your principal or teacher will. But I think you should tell them yourself when they get home."

"But I'm going to be in trouble." Kelsey said

"Well, your going to be in trouble no matter what Kelsey. I bet they will be less upset if you tell them the truth." Lorelai told her

"How do you know?" Lorelai asked

"I know your mom and dad really well and I know they would rather hear it from you." Lorelai said

Kelsey nodded.

They heard a knock on the door. Lorelai went down and opened it. The police were carrying Henry who was screaming, fighting, and crying.

"Hey. Put him down." Lorelai said

The officers put him down and he ran inside and hid behind Lorelai.

"What the hell? Why is he crying?" Lorelai asked

"He wouldn't come willingly. We had to get him here." The officer said

"Where is the babysitter?" Lorelai asked

"We don't know. We found him alone at the park. We tried to ask him he wouldn't tell us anything." The officers told her

Lorelai got down to his level and hugged him. "Its okay your safe. They work with your daddy." She told him calmly.

Henry calmed down a bit. "I was supposed to wait for the babysitter she is going to be mad when she comes back and I'm not there."

Lorelai sighed. "No. You didn't do anything wrong. The babysitter shouldn't have left you there." She looked up at the officers. "Did you even try to talk to him, or did you just pick him up and drag him out of there? Have you never worked with kids? I cant understand why Will asked -you two for help." Lorelai said

"Because we are good officers. He asked you to babysit clearly he thinks we are more qualified to find his kid." The officer said

Lorelai took a breathe and reminded herself that punching them would not go over well. "Well why don't you go find the women who left the four-year-old alone in the park." She said containing her anger.

"We need to ask him a few questions." The officer said

"Henry. Do you know where she went?" Lorelai asked

Henry shook his head.

"Is this the first time she leaves you alone in the park or anywhere?" She asked

Henry shook his head again

"Anyone else ever with her at the park. A friend?" Lorelai asked Henry

Henry shook his head a third time

Lorelai looked at the officers. "Any other questions you want to ask him?"

The officers shook their head. "We will be sure to tell Will how 'co-operative' you have been." They said

"Go right ahead." Lorelai said.

The officers left and Lorelai picked Henry back up and carried him to the kitchen and got him some water. "Its going to be okay buddy. You're not in trouble."

"They were mean police officers." Henry said

Lorelai sighed. "They were just doing their job.

"They scared me." Henry said

"I know. They could have told you what was going on, but they were just trying to protect you." Lorelai said. She didn't want the boy to be afraid of the police if he needed their help in the future.

She took out her phone and video called both JJ & Will.

They both answered. "Henry is fine the police found him. I wasn't sure if they would have taken the time to call you and tell you." She said showing them Henry was okay

Both of them were relieved.

"Henry. Are you okay?" JJ asked

Henry nodded and sipped his water.

"Where did they find him? Where is the babysitter?" JJ asked

"He was found at the park alone. Apparently she has left him there alone before and told him to stay till she gets back. The police are out looking for her." Lorelai told them

"What? You're joking." Will said

Lorelai shook her head. "Henry why don't you go lay down for a bit I bet you're tired. I will come read you a story in a bit okay?" She said

Henry went.

"Will. How well do you know these two officers?" Lorelai asked when Henry was gone.

"I've known them for a few years why?" Will asked

"I know they found him, but I don't think they are very good with kids…" Lorelai said

"Lorelai what happened?" Will asked

"Well, when they brought him back he was kicking and screaming, and they really scared him. I don't even think they told him they know you." Lorelai said

Will sighed. "I see."

"And they are going to tell you I was… uncooperative." Lorelai said

"Why would they do that?" JJ asked

"Well. Henry was terrified of them. I was just trying to protect him. I wouldn't let them question him. I asked him the questions I knew they would need to know to attempt to find the sitter and wouldn't let them do it themselves." Lorelai told her

"Well, if what you are saying is true than we appreciate you protecting Henry." JJ said

"I will be sure to talk to the two officers." Will said

"Thank you for being there for them when we cant be." JJ said

"I will be home in a few hours." Will told her

"Okay. I will stay with them as long as you need me too." Lorelai said. "You have both been there for me through everything I have been through. This is small in comparison."

"Well, we are glad they have you to take care of them." They told her before they said bye and they hung up the video call.

Lorelai went and checked in on the kids. Both were asleep on Kelsey's bed. Lorelai smiled and covered them up before going and looking in the fridge to see what she could make them for dinner.

She was quiet so as not to wake them up. She quickly started to whip up some chicken noodle soup it was getting into the fall weather and after the long day both kids had it would be good to help them feel better too. Chicken soup could fix almost everything when you weren't feeling good whether it was physically or emotionally.

A couple hours later Will came into the house. He could smell something cooking. Smelt like chicken soup to him. He went into the kitchen where he found Lorelai sitting at the table reading a book.

"Smells good." He told her

Lorelai looked up and smiled. "Figured it was the perfect weather for soup. Hope I didn't use anything that was ear marked for something else." She said

Will shook his head. "Not an issue. Where are the kids?" He asked

"Napping. Both in Kelsey's room." She told him

Will smiled. "I'm happy they get along so well. It could have gone so bad when we adopted her." He told her

Lorelai shrugged, "Clearly they were meant to be siblings."

Will nodded. "The officers come back with any information?" He asked

"Nope. I figured they will probably just call you. Since I am not their favorite person." Lorelai pointed out

Will nodded. "I will talk to them about that."

"Its fine. I don't care if they like me. I care that they didn't tell Henry anything and just basically dragged him from the park." Lorelai said

Will nodded. "JJ and I am very grateful that you just dropped everything and helped." He said

"Will you are my family and that's what family does. Besides I owe you both so much for everything you have done for me. Taking care of your kids who I care about very much is the least I can do. And when it comes to children being involved in danger or crime I don't take that lightly especially when those kids are my family." She told him

Will nodded and smiled. "I'm going to check on them and take a shower." He told her

Lorelai nodded.

Will went and checked on them and found them both still asleep before sending a text to the officers and taking a shower.

He checked the texts when he got out and found they hadn't found her yet. Will was pissed. How long had she intended on leaving his son at that park. It was cold out and he had been left alone and would have been for hours if the police hadn't found him. He had already been pissed but this just made it worse.

He went back downstairs and found both kids had come down from the naps. He smiled as Lorelai had already dished out their dinner and was making them wait till it cooled down.

Will got himself a bowl and joined the three at the table. They all ate. Afterwards Will thanked Lorelai again and told her she was welcome to stay but she could go if she wanted.

Lorelai nodded. "I think I'll head out." She told him. She gave both the kids a hug and whispered to Kelsey to tell her daddy what had happened at school before she left.

Will sent the kids to watch TV before he cleaned up from dinner. When he was done he went and took Henry to give him a bath and get him ready for bed. He talked to him about what had happened that day and asked him a few questions, but he didn't get anymore information than Lorelai had told him. After his bath he got the boy into bed and read him a book the boy feel asleep during the book. Will smiled and went back to the living room where his daughter was.

"Your turn to get ready for bed." He told the young girl

"Daddy I'm sorry." She said

Will sat down next to her. "About what happened at school?" He asked

Kelsey nodded.

"What happened?" He asked

Kelsey told him what she had done. Will listened and shook his head at the little girl. "Why would you do that?" He asked

"I wasn't done playing…" She said

"Kelsey there is a schedule that the teacher has to keep to so that you and the other students in your class learn what they have to. I understand that playing is more fun but when the teacher says playtime is over its over and you do what you are told." He told her sternly

Kelsey nodded. "I'm sorry daddy."

"Not me you need to say sorry to." He told her

"I will tell the teacher sorry tomorrow." She said

Will nodded. "Good. If this happens again you will be in big trouble understand?" he asked

Kelsey nodded. "Yes daddy."

Will hugged her and they went and helped her get ready for bed as well.
