When she got into the back she saw several mattresses all over the back and she counted nineteen women sitting on them. Some were restrained and some looked like they were either asleep or passed out.
"So, this is what is going to happen. You are going to co-operate, or I will tie you up. Got it?" The man asked
Lorelai nodded. "I-I'll co-operate." She told him
He kept nudging her till they got to an empty spot on one of the mattresses. He pushed her down and she hit her head off the side of the truck in the process.
Lorelai yelped but stayed down rubbing her head.
The man went back to the front of the truck and started to drive.
Meanwhile Agent Smith and his team were trying to figure out what had happened. When the device cut out they knew that they needed to follow the truck but somehow the truck managed to lose the car while it was following behind. Agent Smith now realized they had an agent alone with a man who likely was their unsub and it wasn't whom they had originally thought. They had looked up the name the man had given Lorelai and found that he was a truck driver from California. They contacted his supervisor who tried to track the truck, but they couldn't find it as the tracking device had been removed or deactivated.
Agent Smith notified the director about what was going on.
"Fuck." The director said, "You promised nothing would happen to her."
"I know. We clearly made a critical error." Agent Smith said
The director took a breathe. "Find her. You have one hour." He said before hanging up
Agent Smith and his team started contacting known connections of the man and trying to find him, but every lead was a dead end.
Meanwhile Hotch was looking for his youngest agent and checked the tracking device on her phone and saw that it was in the building. He tried calling it. The phone had been left with the director. The director answered the phone and told Hotch to come to his office and he would explain why he had her phone.
Hotch went up and knocked on the door and went in when he heard to.
"Have a seat Aaron." The director said
"You called me Aaron that's not good." He said as he sat
"Well, I am expecting you are going to be angrier as a father than as a boss in this situations." The director told him
He sighed "What the hell did she do this time?"
"She was just following orders. Orders she didn't feel completely comfortable doing without your knowledge but given the situation she wasn't given a choice to tell you." The director told him.
"Okay. Where is she?" Aaron asked
"We are not quite sure. She is on an undercover assignment for another team. And we have lost contact with her. The team is working hard to find her." The director said
Aaron's fist clenched and he took a breathe. "Since when do you take someone from another team and not inform the head of the team. Before hand." Hotch asked
"I am the director I don't need your permission to use one of my agents." He said
"No. Never said you did. But it would have been nice to know you were taking one of my agents." He said
"And if I could have told you I would have. This case involves some VIP people. The less who know the better." The director told him
"Well in my eyes no one is more VIP than my team or family and Lorelai happens to be both." Aaron said. "My team is now going to be involved." Aaron said
"Agent Smith is waiting to hear from you." The director told him
Aaron got up and left the office calling Agent Smith as he went and getting a rundown on the case and when they last saw his agent. When he got to the squad room he looked at the other agents.
"Lorelai went undercover for another team who was in need of someone who could fit the look of a teen and she is now missing." He gave them all the information they needed and than sent them to meet up with members of the other team in order to see if his team could help find her.
Meanwhile Lorelai was looking around trying to find away out. She turned to the teen next to her and asked her. "How long have you been here?"
The girl shrugged. "We lose track of time they drug us a lot. But I think its been along time." She said
"What date were you taken?" Lorelai asked
The girl gave a date six months previous.
"Okay. Yeah… Its been awhile than." Lorelai said, "How often do new girls come in?"
"Every few days I think." The girl said. "Why are you asking so many questions. Just keep your head down…You will make it worse. For both of us." The girl said shutting up
Lorelai took a breath. She took her phone out of her bra and looked at it. It was than she realized that there was no connection and that she didn't have any backup. They probably didn't even know where she was. The truck came to a stop and Lorelai shoved her phone back in her bra. The man came back into the back and grabbed Lorelai and pulled her out by her hair and took her outside the truck into an old rundown house.
"Ouch. Fuck what the hell I am not fighting you!" Lorelai said
"Shut up!" he said throwing her down on the ground.
She yelped.
"Give me your phone. Now." He said
Lorelai took the phone out of her bra and handed it to him. She knew she still had the necklace. The man took the phone and dropped in on the ground and smashed it with his foot. "Bet you wish I called the police now." He said with a smirk
Lorelai didn't say anything. She figured not talking was her best way to give her team time to find her.
"So. Your name is no longer Amanda Terse. Its Carla. No last name just Carla. You are 18 and from Ohio and you will do what you are told when you are told. Because if you don't I will kill you. Got it?" He said
Lorelai nodded. "Carla, 18 from Ohio." She said
"Good girl. Get up." He said
Lorelai got up and was grabbed by the arm and was led to another room in the house with a bed. On the bed was a set of clothing that were very reveling.
"Change into the clothes on the bed." He told her before leaving the room
Meanwhile the necklace tracker had turned back on so both teams got into cars and headed in that direction.
When they got there. They saw the truck and a couple agents went to the truck while everyone else ran into the house and started searching.
"FBI. Come out with your hands up." Agent Smith yelled
Eventually they came to a locked room and an agent from the other team knocked down the door. Rossi and Reid went in.
They found Lorelai fighting off the man who was trying to force himself on her she was in tears.
Rossi grabbed the man and pulled him off of her throwing him against a wall. Reid grabbed a blanket that was on the bed and wrapped Lorelai in it as she was less than fully clothed. The other agent and Rossi got the man out of there in cuffs.
"Are you okay?" Reid asked her wrapping her in a hug
"I-I'm okay." She said
"I thought you were a better liar." He said looking at her with a small smile
Lorelai sighed.
"Are you okay to walk?" Reid asked
"Yes." She said she stood up and the two of them went out. A few agents were starting to get the teenagers out of the back of the truck and into waiting ambulances and the back of police cars.
Lorelai was led to one of the FBI cars. She looked around looking for her dad and she saw him with one of the teenagers.
He noticed her looking and he gave her a small smile. He was glad she was okay and knew she was well taken care of by Spencer, and he needed to help the other victims too. And he was still reeling that she had agreed to this without him being told. No, she hadn't done anything wrong technically, but it didn't mean it didn't bother him.
Lorelai mouthed she was sorry before she looked away letting a few tears fall. She didn't want anyone to see her crying. She got into the car and closed the door before breaking down. Reid got pulled away to help with something in the house and Morgan was asked to drive Lorelai to the hospital to get checked out.
Morgan got into the car. "Hey. Its okay. You're going to be okay." He told her putting a hand on her shoulder comforting her.
"I'm sorry. I'm okay." She said forcing herself to calm down.
"No. Don't apologize for feeling whatever you are feeling. It's okay. I didn't see what happened, but I've heard enough…" He said
Lorelai nodded. "Derek. I'm sorry. I wasn't allowed to tell anyone." She said
"I know. Hotch told us how this happened. Its on the director and Agent Smith not you." He said as he started to drive towards the hospital.
"I'm not physically hurt in anyway I don't need to go to the hospital." Lorelai told him
"Hotch has ordered it." Morgan said
"Got it. I wont argue." She said looking out the window.
"Thank you." He said, "You did help bring down a pretty big trafficking ring."
"I know. The only reason I agreed to do this was because I wanted to help these kids and I trusted that Agent Smith's team would protect me the way our team would have. Apparently I was wrong…" She said
"Lorelai. Its not their fault. There was a blocker. Just like there was when you got caught in your first undercover mission…" he said
Lorelai snort laughed. "Apparently undercover and me don't mix well."
"Okay yeah you ended up in a bad situation, but you saved all those girls." Morgan told her.
"Yeah but Derek…I was almost…" She couldn't say it
"I know. And he is going to pay for it." Morgan told her
Lorelai nodded. "Is Hotch upset with me?" She asked
Derek thought for a moment. "No. -Hotch isn't. You did what you were told by the director."
"Okay. Is my dad upset with me?" Lorelai asked
"I think he is more upset about the situation." Derek said
"I shouldn't have agreed to it…" Lorelai said
"Were you given a choice?" Derek asked
"Yeah. I was told I didn't have to… But you all know when it comes to teens how I don't always think clearly." She said
"I do. And I think the director knows that too. He knew you wouldn't be able to say no." Derek said as he pulled into the hospital
They both went in, and Derek told them who she was, and she was taken to an exam room right away.
Lorelai laid down on the bed in the room and Derek sat on a chair in the room. They waited a bit till the doctor came in.
"Agent Hotchner surprised to see you so soon." It was the same doctor who treated her hand
Lorelai sighed and nodded sitting up "Call me Lorelai please and Yup. Wish I didn't have to be seeing you again. Not that I hate seeing -you personally. I just."
The doctor chuckled. "I understand what you mean. So, I see you just need a general check to make sure you're okay." He said. He and Morgan introduced themselves.
"Yes. I was undercover ended up in a sticky situation. My head got hit up against the metal siding of a transport truck. Um. I was dragged by my hair and thrown onto the ground and had to fight off someone trying to…" She took a breathe "Force themselves on me." She finished
The doctor nodded. "You weren't raped?" he asked
"No. I was able to fight him off until I was rescued." Lorelai said
"Good. Can I take a look at your head?" he asked
Lorelai nodded. The doctor checked her skull, and he could see a small bump forming. "We are going to get an MRI done to see if your have a concussion I see in your file you have had a few in the past which makes you susceptible to more. Do you feel any pain or discomfort anywhere else?" he asked
"No…" She said fidgeting
Morgan had stayed quiet as he didn't need to say much till now. "Lorelai he might not know your tell but I do. Try again." He said sternly
Lorelai sighed. "My left shoulder." She said
The doctor shook his head a bit when she wasn't upfront but checked her shoulder. "Doesn't seem to be to swollen. Probably just bruised the bone but we will get an x-ray to be sure. Anything else?" He asked
"No Doctor." She said fidgeting again
"Lorelai." Derek said sharply. "Stop lying."
"I can not help you if you are not upfront with me." The doctor told her
Lorelai sighed but didn't say anything.
Morgan crossed his arms and gave her the look. "Lorelai do not make me call your dad."
"My hand." She said holding it out for the doctor.
The doctor took it. "It does look a little swollen. Did you hit against something?" He asked
She took a breathe. "Probably but honestly its been a little sore for a few days…" She said
"I see. Why didn't you come back to get it checked out again?" He asked
"I didn't want to be taken out of the field…" She said
The doctor nodded. "We will get an x-ray of it done as well. Is there anything else I should know?"
Lorelai sighed. "I might be pregnant…" She said
The doctor nodded. "Have you taken a test?"
"Yes. I have taken two at home tests. One positive one negative." Lorelai said
"Okay. We will get a blood test done." The doctor said he went and requested all the tests
"Derek please keep that last part to yourself." Lorelai said
"If you are its certainly not my place to tell anyone." Derek told her
"Thank you." Lorelai said
"No more lying to the doctors got it?" He asked
"Got it." Lorelai said as she rubbed at her stomach.
"Pain?" He asked
"Cramping." Lorelai said.
"Do you get cramping normally? During your.. Um." Derek said
Lorelai smirked. "Period is not a bad word Derek. And yes." She said
Derek shook his head and smiled. "Is it that time of the month?" he asked
"Um. No." Lorelai said
Derek got up and got a nurse who got the doctor.
The nurse and doctor came in with an ultrasound machine.
"We are going to do this first see if we can see anything. Just wanting to be cautious." The doctor said
Lorelai nodded.
"Do you want me to wait outside?" Derek asked
"No." Lorelai said tears in her eyes.
Derek went and took her hand. "I'm not going anywhere." He knew if this was Penny on the bed and Spencer with her that he would not want her alone.
The doctor set up the machine. Lorelai lifted her shirt a bit so the nurse could put the gel on her stomach.
Lorelai tensed a bit when the cold gel hit her stomach.
"Sorry. I know its cold." The nurse said
"Its okay." Lorelai said with a small smile
The doctor put the wand on her stomach and moved it around to see what they could find.
Lorelai watched the screen.
The doctor took a breathe. "Well. You are pregnant. But I'm sorry you -are experiencing a miscarriage." The doctor said
Lorelai let a few tears fall.
"Hey its going to be okay Lorelai." Derek told her
Lorelai nodded. "I-I need Spencer."
Derek nodded. "I can go call him." He went and quickly called him before he went back to Lorelai's room. "He is on his way. I didn't tell him why just that you need him."
Lorelai nodded. The doctor and nurse had already left the room. "Thanks."
"This happens all the time you know that right?" Derek asked
"I shouldn't have taken the undercover role. I knew I could be pregnant." Lorelai said
"You were doing your job." Derek said
"I had a responsibility to the baby that was growing inside me to protect it." Lorelai said
"You didn't know for sure you were pregnant, and you could have already been experiencing a miscarriage before you agreed to the undercover mission. Lorelai you are not going to blame yourself." Derek said
The transport people came in to take her to get her x-rays and MRI done.
"I will let Spencer know where you are when he gets here. Than I will probably have to get back to work okay?" Morgan asked
"Yes. Thank you Derek for being here for me." Lorelai said
"Of course." Derek said
She was taken away and a few minutes later Spencer came into the room.
"She has been taken to get an MRI and x-ray of her hand and shoulder." Derek said
"Oh. Okay. She needs me?" Spencer asked
"Yes. She will explain when she's back." Derek told him
Spencer nodded. "Is she okay?"
"Spencer she needs to be the one who tells you, but she will be fine." Derek told him
Spencer nodded.
"Does Hotch want me back?" Derek asked
"Yes." Spencer said
Derek nodded and got up saying bye before heading out back to the FBI building
Lorelai came back into the room about two hours later and she was a bit loopy.
The doctor had come in with the transport team. "I had to give her some medication to calm her down. She was in hysterics." He told Spencer
"Lorelai. Hey, its okay I'm here." Spencer said taking her hand
"Did Agent Morgan tell you what is going on?" The doctor asked
"No. He said Lorelai should tell me." Spencer said.
"Okay. That is fair. Her scan results should be here soon." He said
"Thank you Doctor." Spencer said
The doctor left the room
Lorelai looked up at him and smiled weakly
"Hey Baby. I'm here." Spencer said
Lorelai nodded a bit and teared up.
"Hey. What's wrong?" He asked
"Spenc…. I am so sorry." She said
"Sorry for what?" He asked gently caressing her face
"I was pregnant… I'm miscarrying.." She said
Spencer took a breathe. "Baby hey. Its okay. It's going to be okay."
"But I knew, and I took the undercover mission." She said
"Lorelai. Don't apologize for doing your job and saving those children." He said softly
"But our child…" She said
"Lorelai. We have plenty of years to have children. This baby wasn't meant to survive." He said
Lorelai nodded.
"Get some rest baby okay?" He said
Lorelai closed her eyes and Spencer just held her hand
About an hour later the doctor came back in.
"You awake?" he asked softly to Lorelai
Lorelai opened her eyes. "Yes doctor."
"How are you feeling?" The doctor asked
"Headache." She said
The doctor nodded. "Your shoulder and hand are okay. Just bruised bones. Ice and rest for a few days and you will be fine. No concussion." He said
Lorelai nodded.
"Have you told him about the other thing?" The doctor asked
"Yes. He knows about the miscarriage." She said
"Good. It should pass on its own I am giving you a script that should help it pass quicker. If you are still cramping or bleeding after two weeks you need come back." He said
"Yes doctor." She said
"I can recommend a phycologist if you think you need one." He suggested
"Thank you doctor I have a therapist I have been working with for years." She said
"Okay. Good." He said. "You are going to be discharged in a bit. But you need to go home and rest." He said
"How long?" Spencer asked
"Three days at home. No field work for one week." The doctor said
Lorelai nodded.
"And if your hand or shoulder still hurt you need to come back. Understood?" The doctor asked
"Yes Doctor." She said
"I will make sure she does." Spencer said
"Thank you doctor." Lorelai said
"Of course. I know you are in good hands." He said before he left the room
A little while later the nurse came in and took out her IV and gave her the paperwork to sign. Lorelai signed them and she got up.
Spencer held up a bag.
"I went to your place and got you some clothes." He said
Lorelai nodded and changed before the two of them left. Spencer started driving towards Lorelai's place.
"Has my dad said anything about if he is upset with me?" Lorelai asked
"No. He told me to go to the hospital when he heard you needed me. Didn't say anything else about it." He said
Lorelai nodded. "Can I stay at your place for a few day?"
"Lorelai you cant hide from your dad forever." Spencer said
"No. But for a few days." She said
"Lorelai. You didn't do anything wrong" He said
"At work no. I was well within my rights to take that undercover mission. But he is my dad too." She said
"Yes. But at work he is your boss." He said
"But at home he is my dad, and he can still be angry with me." She said
"I will tell you what. I am going to take you home. If he give you a tough time you can call me, and I will come and get you and bring you to my place. Deal?" he asked
Lorelai nodded. "Deal." She said
He pulled up to her place and they went inside where she went and took a shower before getting into bed.
