Aaron pulled up to the school. He had gotten a call that his daughter had been in an altercation, and he needed to come in. He hadn't been told much else. As he was leaving the office the team was called in for a case. Aaron made the decision to sit the case out and he put Morgan in charge before he left.
When he got to the school he went inside and to the office. He noticed his daughter and another student sitting them each one with an ice pack. Rachel had one on her hand the other student was holding one up to her eye. It didn't take a rocket scientist for him to put two and two together. He told the secretary who he was, and the principal was called. The principal went out and told Aaron and Rachel to come into her office.
They both went in and had a seat. The principal looked at Aaron. "I'm still trying to piece together what happened but what I was told by a teacher that he had to break up a physical fight between Rachel and another student." The principal told him. "I have spoken to Rachel and the other student and neither have said anything outside of blaming each other for the fight." She continued.
Aaron looked to Rachel. "Start talking. Now." He said sternly
"She came up to me out of no where and started punching me and I just defended myself." Rachel said
"Same story I got from the other girl." The principal told Aaron
Aaron nodded. "Rachel. You are already in trouble. If there is anything you are leaving out you need to tell Ms. Dalton and me. Right now." He said his voice calm but still stern
"I have nothing else to say." Rachel said
"Any idea why she would just come up and start punching you? And how did she end up with the black eye and you with the hurt fist if she was the one who started the fight?" Ms. Dalton asked
"Luck." Rachel said with a tone in her voice
"Rachel Hotchner. Drop the attitude." Aaron told his daughter. "And I want the truth."
Rachel rolled her eyes.
Aaron crossed his arms and started to give his daughter his signature stare.
Rachel looked away. She knew that look. And her only defence was to look away from him.
Aaron shook his head before looking back at the principal. "I assure you that she will have the truth for you tomorrow. Or when she is no longer suspended as I assume she will be."
Ms. Dalton nodded. "The rules are there for a reason. No tolerance for physical violence."
Aaron nodded. "I completely understand. How long?"
"Well, her first offence but as she wont give me a true explanation it will have to be a week." Ms. Dalton told them.
Aaron took a breathe and nodded
Ms. Dalton looked at Rachel. "You sure you don't want to tell me what really happened?"
"I've told you what happened." Rachel said. "Not my fault you don't believe me." She said the attitude still evident in her voice.
Aaron shook his head. "And her attitude will be gone when she returns as well." Aaron assured the woman.
He looked at his daughter. "Do you need to go to your locker?"
Rachel nodded.
"Go. And make it quick." He told her
Rachel got up and left the office.
Aaron looked at the principal. "You have no idea what could have caused a fight between Rachel and this other student?"
The principal took a breathe. "I do know that this isn't the first fight that other student has been in. I don't doubt Rachel was just defending herself. I never get told what causes the fighting with the other student. No one ever tells me." She told him
Aaron nodded. "Well Rachel will be ready to tell you when she returns."
Ms. Dalton nodded. "Thank you."
Aaron got up and left the office and waited for his daughter to come. While he was waiting he saw Julianna walking by with her class. He smiled and waved when she smiled and waved at him. When Rachel came back they both went out to the car.
The drive home started out quietly. About half-way home Aaron started.
"You ready to talk to me?" He asked
"I've told you what happened. Whether you want to believe it or not that's on you." She said the attitude still prevalent
"Okay. You are done with the attitude. I mean it Rachel. You are in big trouble already do not make it worse on yourself. And I am not saying I don't believe she came up to you and instigated the fight. I am saying you know why she did and are choosing not to tell me or Ms. Dalton." He told her his tone telling her he was not happy
Rachel didn't say anything.
When they got home he put his hand out. "Phone." He said
"What? Why?" Rachel asked
"You can have it back when you start telling me what is going on." He told her
Rachel sighed and gave it to him.
"And you can go to your room." He told her.
They two went inside and Rachel went to her room and slammed the door.
Aaron sighed. He texted Rebecca. 'I am home this afternoon. You can have the day off.'
Rebecca got the text and replied 'Okay.'
'Might need you all day for a week.' He told her
'Okay. Let me know.' Rebecca said
Meanwhile in South Carolina the team was working a case. Of four missing police officers and they weren't getting anywhere.
"You know there is a scenario that no one is bringing up." Prentiss said
They all looked at her.
"Yeah. I was thinking it too, but I don't think it will be listened to coming from me." Lorelai said
Morgan let out a breathe. "Okay. If it's a cop who are we thinking?" he asked. He was thinking it to. It was why they weren't working with the local police on this case.
"There have been a couple who seem the most interested in being involved." Rossi said
"And there is the one who has stayed completely out of it trying not to seem interested." Hotch Jr. said
They all looked at her.
Lorelai took a breathe. "The Captain."
"I don't know. He has a good tract record. Lots of accommodations. Never been in a lick of trouble. He is the model Captain." JJ said
"Everyone has secrets." Lorelai said
Morgan pressed dial on the phone and called Garcia
"Hello. My chocolate thunder. What do you need?"
"Garcia look into Captain Green. See what dirt you can find. You might need to dig." Morgan told her
"You've got it." She said as she started to type. "Call you when I've got something."
The call was hung up.
Morgan gave everyone assignment. Hotch Jr. was told she would be working from the station.
Lorelai sighed softly but didn't say anything.
Everyone but Morgan and Lorelai went off.
"Do you have something you want to say?" Morgan asked
"No sir." She said
"Lorelai." He said
She sighed. "Am I staying here because you don't trust my judgement with potentially corrupt law enforcement?"
"No. If I didn't trust you I would send you away from the station where they are all working." He said
"Oh…" She said
"Lorelai. I trust you. Now that being said. Don't mess with that trust." He said
"I wont. I will follow your orders." She said
"Good." He said before he went off with Prentiss to one of the scenes.
Meanwhile Penny called back
"Hey, my favorite computer genius. What have you found?" She asked
"Hey, my favorite mini agent. Who else is with you?" She asked
"No one. They are all out an assignment." Lorelai said
"Oh…" Penny said
"Penny. Tell me what you found. Please." Lorelai said
"Well, I did have to dig. I found a connection. To someone actually two someone's we have had contact with." She said
"Stop beating around the bush. Just tell me." Lorelai said
"The former captain of your hometown….and your biological father… The three of them knew each other. They were part of the same soccer team for seven years." She said
"How did that not show up when we did a background check earlier?" Lorelai asked
"Captain Green changed his name when he was adopted at twelve." Penny said
"Oh. What was his birth name?" Lorelai asked
Penny hesitated.
"Come on Penny. I don't like the silence." Lorelai said calmly
"Matthew… Davies." She said
"Oh." She said. Her brain was spinning
"He's technically your biological uncle." Penny said
"I see. I didn't know I had any biological family alive. Outside of my bio-father." She said
"I figured. Do you need me to call Morgan to come back to the station?" Penny asked
"No. I'll be fine. Promise I will wait till they come back before I do anything." She said
"Of course. But are you okay?" Penny asked
Lorelai huffed a laugh. "Nothing surprises me anymore Penny. Nothing."
"You sure you don't need me to call someone?" She asked
"They are busy. I am fine Penny. Promise." Lorelai said
"Okay. I will keep digging and see what else I can find." Penny said and they hung up
A bit later the team came back to the station and back into the room
Reid saw the look on Lorelai's face and knew instantly something was wrong.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
Everyone looked over at her.
Lorelai nodded to the open door
They all came in and the door was closed before they sat down.
Lorelai told them everything Penny had found when she was done Morgan looked at her
"What did you do with that information?" He asked
"Nothing yet. Waited for you. Penny is doing more digging." Lorelai said
"Okay. You're with me. We are going to talk to the captain." Morgan said
Lorelai nodded and got up and went with him.
They went and knocked on his door.
The captain let them in. "Any news? Have you found my officers?"
"Do you know who I am?" Lorelai asked
The captain made a face. "Your one of the FBI agents who is supposed to be finding my officers."
"My birth name is Lorelai Davies." She said
The captain was surprised. He looked at her. "I didn't realize. I know of you. My brother called me when you were born. But we were never close. Different paths in life." He said. "I never knew what happened to you." He said
"They lost custody. I was put into a hell hole of a foster home. Where the hell were you?!" She asked
"Lorelai. I didn't know. I figured you were with your mother." He said
"She was worse than him!" Lorelai said
Morgan put a hand on her shoulder. "Okay. You're angry. But we have other questions." He said
Lorelai took a breathe. "Your connection with your brother and the former chief Dillon have made us wonder. If you know more than you are saying." She said walking closer to him
"Agent Hotchner." Morgan said warningly telling her to stop.
Lorelai stopped
"Do you know more than you are saying?" Morgan asked the captain
"No. Look I haven't spoken to my brother in 19 years and haven't seen him since before I was adopted. And Dillion and I were friends when we were kids. I haven't spoken to him in even longer. I am not in contact with either of them. If they are some how involved it has nothing to do with me." Captain Green told them. "My brother hates me so if he wanted some sort or revenge maybe he did it. And he and Dillon were best friends as kids. So maybe the two of them are involved but I'm not." He said
Morgan nodded. "We got our questions answered. Agent Hotchner." He said telling her it was time to leave him alone.
Lorelai nodded and went to go with him.
"Wait." Captain Green said
They stopped.
"Lorelai. Can I speak with you alone?" He asked
Lorelai looked at Morgan and nodded.
Morgan left them alone giving her a warning look.
Lorelai turned back to him. "Yes?" she asked
"I assumed you were with your mother. I assumed she was who you should have been with. After all things went down in that town I tried to get in contact with my brother, but I had no way of finding him. If I had known the situation I would have stepped in when you were young, and my wife and I would have fought for you. I cant image the hell you went through knowing you were in that foster home. But I can see in spite of that you have clearly made something of yourself. Law enforcement is in the DNA after all." He told her
Lorelai tilted her head.
"You don't know anything about your grandparents do you?" He asked
She shook her head. "I barely know my biological father."
"Your grandfather was a police officer. And great grandfather work for the CIA. All your great uncles were in law enforcement as well." He told her
"Any of them alive?" She asked
He shook his head. "Your grandfather was the youngest. He died when I was young. Hence why I ended up being adopted and changing my last name." He told her
Lorelai nodded.
"Look I know you don't know me, and I don't expect you to just want to get to know me or your cousins. But if you do." He wrote down something on a paper and handed it to her.
She looked at the paper and it was a phone number. "I have cousins?" She asked
"Four. Daughters are 4 & 16; sons are 7 & 13." He told her
"Wow." She said
"They know you exist. Hannah she's my oldest has been bugging me to do one of those DNA tests to try and find you." He told her
Lorelai chuckled. "Well would have been useless. I haven't done one."
He chuckled. "Well, you have my number. If you want to know your biological family. I take by your last name there is parents?" He asked
"Yes. Um. My dad is an FBI agent as well. He had to take some time off for personal reasons otherwise he would have been here as well." She told him. "And I need time to wrap my head around all this, but I would love to meet my cousin. Being adopted doesn't mean I'm not curious about my biological family." She said
He nodded. "Well just call. We can arrange something. When your ready." He said
Lorelai smiled and nodded. "I should get back to the case."
He nodded.
Lorelai went back to the conference room only Morgan was there.
"Everything okay?" Morgan asked
She nodded. "Yes. It was a good conversation."
Morgan nodded.
"But what should I do next?" She asked
The two of them left to follow a lead and try to figure out where the missing officers were.
