Hotch drove the five hours till he got to the hospital and went in telling them who he was. He was told what room. Lorelai was just being brought into the room. JJ was sitting there as well.
"Hotch. Didn't know you were coming." JJ said standing up
"I needed to be here for her." Hotch said.
"I'll go call Morgan let him know what's going on." JJ said as she left the room
Lorelai opened her eyes a bit. "Dad…" She started
"Just rest Lor. There will be plenty of time to have that conversation later." He told her
Lorelai nodded and closed her eyes.
JJ came back a few minutes later and the doctor followed.
Introductions were had.
"Surgery went well. We were able to repair the damage and get the bullet out. It will be 6-8 weeks till she is healed. She will likely need rehab. I would say several months before she can be back in the field." He said
Hotch nodded.
Lorelai groaned.
"Pain?" The doctor asked
"Annoyance…" She mumbled
"She is annoyed that she will be out of the field." Aaron told the doctor
"Ah. Well. If you don't follow the direction you will end up hurting yourself more." The doctor said
"She will do as instructed. Is that right Lorelai?" Aaron asked her
"Yes Sir." She said
The doctor smiled. "You will get back out there before you know it. How is the pain level?" The doctor asked
"A three." She said
"That means a seven." Aaron told him
The doctor smirked. "Do you want pain killers?"
Lorelai shook her head.
"Well, if you change your mind just let the nurses know." The doctor told her before he left the room
"JJ are you needed at the station? I will stay with her." Hotch said
JJ agreed and said bye before leaving and heading back to the station.
"What are you doing here?" Morgan asked
"Hotch is staying with her." JJ told him
Morgan nodded. "Okay. Just paperwork needs to be done." He said
They all got to work on the paperwork. They finished up late that night before Morgan told them to head to the jet.
"I will get home myself. I am going to check on her." Reid said
Morgan nodded. "They might not let you in till morning."
"I'll figure it out." Reid said
Morgan nodded.
"Maybe if you had let me take her to the hospital instead of JJ it would have been better." Reid said as he left the conference room at the station and left the station. He was pissed. He felt he should have been the one to go to the hospital with her. In the past Hotch always let him go with her because of their relationship and with Morgan in charge it had been different.
Morgan was surprised by the time he came out of his shock Reid was gone. He would have to talk to him about that at a later date but for now they all headed to the jet.
Reid was able to get into the room and see Lorelai who was asleep.
"Shouldn't you be headed to the Jet?" Hotch asked. Morgan had texted Hotch and let him know they were done the case and leaving.
"I needed to see her." Reid said
"She is asleep right now. I get you want to be here for her and as her dad I appreciate how much you care about her, but you've been working for three days straight. You need sleep." Hotch told him
Reid let out a breathe. "Sir with all do respect I am not going anywhere." He sat down in an empty chair.
Hotch shook his head at the younger man. "Do I need to make it an order?"
"In this room your not my boss. You're her dad and you can not order me to do anything." Reid said
Aaron chuckled. "She teach you how to stand up to me?"
"No. My love for her taught me how to." Reid said with a small smile
Aaron nodded. "You must really love her than."
"More than anything." Spencer said
Aaron nodded again.
"There isn't anything I wouldn't do to protect and take care of her. Although for the most part she's pretty good at doing that herself. Even if she does it in the most stupid ways." Spencer said
"Or without breaking protocol." Aaron added
Spencer nodded. "Most stubborn women I have ever met."
Aaron chuckled.
Lorelai mumbled. "And you love every part of it."
Spencer shook his head. "No, I don't love that you ignored direct orders and ended up in the hospital. Again."
Lorelai sighed and mumbled. "I'm sorry"
"I'm sure you are sorry. That it again blew up in your face." Spencer said
"I'm expecting along lecture." She mumbled.
"From several people." Aaron said. "But for now. Rest." Aaron told her
Lorelai fell back asleep
She was at the hospital for a few days. Eventually Spencer and Aaron started to take shifts with her and the other would head to a motel room to shower & sleep. When it was time for her to be released they all went out to Aaron's car and started the drive home.
