It had been about a week since Lorelai and Spencer broke up. Lorelai was miserable. Her and Becca had gone and had a girls day, but it hadn't really helped. Becca had to draw her attention away from Lorelai as she had happy thing happening in her own life. She was finally going to be adopted. The paperwork had already been filed. They just needed to go in front of a judge and the judge to approve it.

Derek and Rebecca headed to court that Friday. The team and family were all there as support as well Lorelai had to forget about herself for right now and focus on the good things happening in her best friends life. And she was able to do that.

The judge didn't need much time. He had already read the paperwork and as both of Rebecca's biological parents were deceased there was no one who could attempt to stop this from happening.

The judge looked at Rebecca. "Miss Harris. You have signed the paperwork but just want to verify. This is what you want?"

"Yes Your honor 100% what I want." Becca told him

The judge looked at Derek.

"Mr. Morgan you to want this?" He asked

"Yes your honor. She is my daughter. And whether you approve the adoption or not she is still going to be my daughter. I just want her to be without doubt of that and if a piece of paper is what is needed for that I am 100% on board." Derek told the judge

The judge smiled and nodded. "People always assume that child/adult adoptions are my favorite hearings to preside over and don't get me wrong those are amazing. But there is something more when an adult is willing to give another adult an official family. Especially when that adult had the kind of childhood Miss Harris has had. I see no reason why this shouldn't happen today. I approve this adoption." He said and banged his gavel

Rebecca teared up and looked at Derek.

Derek smiled and wrapped her in a hug. "Hey. No tears." He said softly

"They are happy tears dad." She said

"Okay." Derek said

The judge came down.

"Any changes you want to make to your name?" He asked Rebecca

"Last name. To Morgan." She said wiping at her tears a bit

The judge smiled and nodded. The paperwork was filled, and all signed it.

The family all went out to a restaurant. Lorelai had put her feelings aside for the sake of her friend and had planned a little party. She had rented out a party room at one of Rebecca's favorite restaurants and that's where they all went.

Spencer and Lorelai were avoiding each other as much as possible. But Spencer saw some signs that worried him. She wasn't eating much, and it had only been a week and he could see she had lost weight. Had she not been eating at all? He wondered. He took a breathe and went over to her.

"Hi." He said

Lorelai looked at him "Hi." She said. Her brain was screaming at her to walk away from him, but her heart couldn't allow herself to do it.

"I know right now you hate me. And I can handle that. But broken up or not I still care about you. And we had a deal." He said

Lorelai looked up at him. "A deal?" she asked

"That you would eat." He said

Lorelai sighed. "I am eating. And frankly it is no longer your business. You broke up with me because you couldn't handle me. So let me handle myself." She said softly so no one would hear. She took a breathe put a smile on her face and walked away from him.

Spencer sighed and didn't push things right now. He just celebrated with his friends.

As the party died down and people were leaving Spencer pulled Aaron aside.

"I know right now I am not your favorite person. And it kills me that Lorelai is hurting because of me. But I still care greatly about her and I'm seeing something that concerns me, and she wont listen to me." He said

"I know why you broke up with her and no I don't agree with it, but I understand you didn't see any other options. Yes she is my daughter, but I am not picking sides here. Now what are you seeing?" He asked

"A few months ago, after the case with Becca's ex. After Lorelai left the hospital I found out that she hadn't eaten a proper meal in days. She told me it was because she had been busy and distracted so she and I made a deal. That I would keep it to myself as long as it didn't happen again. I kept an eye on her and it didn't seem to come up again. But looking at her today I can see that she has lost enough weight that I can see, and she didn't eat much today. I asked her about it, and she basically told me its no longer my business." Spencer told the older man

Aaron sighed and nodded.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you in the beginning." Spencer said

"Its okay. I get it. I'm not angry. Thank you for telling me now." Aaron told him

Spencer nodded.

"I've noticed her not eating much the last week. Your not wrong. I assumed it was because she was hurting I didn't know there could be more going on. She told me she's fine. I don't think I will have much effect on her." Aaron admitted

"Aaron. She walked away from me." Spencer told him

"I know. And she didn't walk away from me when I brought it up. She just denied it. Yes I can go to her now and admit you have told me. Or you could try again." Aaron suggested

Spencer nodded.

"But its not something that anyone can force you to do. If you want I can handle it." Aaron said

"I just don't think I will get anywhere, and I don't want to hurt her more." Spencer said

Aaron nodded. "I'll take care of it."

"Thanks." Spencer said

Everyone headed home.
