The next week went like normal. Spencer wanted to wait till he could take Lorelai out for a nice meal and make a really romantic date to give it to her. The week was coming to an end, and he needed a truck to make the date he had planned happen. He went to Morgan Friday before leaving for the week.

"Hey Derek. A favor?" Spencer asked

Derek looked up from his desk. "What do you need pretty boy."

"I need to borrow your truck. Tomorrow night. Date with Lorelai need a truck to make it happen." Spencer said

Derek raised an eyebrow "What do you need my truck for?"

"You will laugh. But it's requires the back of a truck." Spencer said

Derek smirked. "Sex under the stars?" he asked

Spencer laughed. "Not exactly. Just to watch the stars and the sky." Spencer admitted.

Derek smiled. "Sure. What time do you need it?"

"I'll pick it up around 5?" Spencer asked

"Okay." Derek said.

Spencer left and went home.

The following day. He went to Derek's and picked up the truck. He gave him his car in case he needed it before the following morning.

Spencer drove to Lorelai's and picked her up.

Lorelai made a face when she saw the truck. "What are you doing with Derek's truck?"

"It's part of a surprise. You'll find out after dinner." Spencer told her

They went to their favorite Chinese food place. It had been over a year since they had been there, and the staff was happy to see them. They ate and Spencer paid. They went back out to the truck. Spencer opened her door for her. She climbed in and he went around and got in as well. He started to drive.

"So where are we going next?" Lorelai asked

"You'll see." He said smiling at her

Lorelai smiled "Okay."

He nodded and turned down a few roads and pulled up to an open field.

He got out and went around and opened the door for her.

Lorelai got out and was led to the back of the truck. He had set up some blankets and pillow for them to lay on.

"Can I help you up?" Spencer asked

Lorelai nodded and smiled. This had to be the most romantic date he had ever planned

He picked her up by her hips and helped her into the back of the truck before he got in as well. And the two laid down and looked up.

They laid like that for awhile looking up at the stars cuddling together

Spencer told her about a few of the constellations that they could see.

Lorelai smiled and listened. This was one subject that she knew nothing about and was happy to learn more from him.

After he talked for a bit he looked at her. "I have another surprise for you."

She looked over at him.

"Last weekend when I told you I had to handle something out of town. I didn't tell you the whole truth. Because I wanted to surprise you." He said

Lorelai nodded. "Okay."

"I went to your hometown." He said

Lorelai sat up. "Okay. Why?"

Spencer sat up. "To go to the police station. And look through the evidence that was collected from the foster home." He said.

Lorelai was very confused, and her face showed it.

Spencer reached under the blankets and pulled out the sketch book. "I wanted to see if I could find this." He said holding it out to her

Lorelai's heart stopped for a second her mouth dropped open. Tears welled up in her eyes.

"The way you talked about it. I knew it was important to you. I took a chance that she didn't throw it out." Spencer said

Lorelai took the book hands shaking and opened it up. "Spencer. I…" she was speechless.

Spencer looked at her and smiled. "You don't need to say anything."

"Spenc… I just don't know what to say. Thank you of course but that doesn't seem like enough." Lorelai said

"Of course. Look if I could go back in time and change what you went through in that home I would, but I cant. If this sketchbook will help you truly move on from that." He said

"But I have moved on. I'm so happy with the life I have now. But I'm so happy to have this back." She said

Spencer smiled. "I know you have a good life now…"

"But?" Lorelai said.

"I think maybe you might think you have moved on but every time a case leads up to something or someone from your past…" He said

"I do something stupid…" Lorelai said

"You intentionally break the rules and put yourself at risk." He said

Lorelai nodded.

"Look I don't want to ruin tonight. Lets just put this conversation off till tomorrow. Okay?" He asked

"Spenc. I promised I wouldn't do that again. And I wont." She told him

"Okay. I trust you." Spencer said with a smile.

The two laid back down and snuggled

"How did you actually get this? The police there just knew where it was?" Lorelai asked

"No. Not exactly. I went and spoke to the Captain. Told him who I was and what I was looking for. He let me look through the evidence room. Had some help from a few officers. We eventually found it." He told her

"Eventually?" Lorelai asked

"There evidence room was… Unorganized is a generous term. They helped me search I helped them organize it." Spencer said

Lorelai smiled. "Spencer. You are an amazing."

"The Captain. Knowing everything that happened in that home and the fact that you are well known in that town now. Figured out who the sketchbook must have belonged to. He wanted the new law enforcement in that town to do something good for you. No, it wont ever make up for what was done to you but a small kind thing." He said

Lorelai nodded. "I'm glad the new Captain seems like a good guy."

Spencer nodded. "He is a good guy from what I have seen."

Lorelai smiled and snuggled in close

Spencer smiled. "It's the perfect night for this."

Lorelai nodded. "Wont be much longer before the winter weather starts."

"I know its why I wanted to do this now." He said

"What do you have to do for Derek now that he let you borrow his truck?" Lorelai asked

Spencer chuckled. "Fill his tank up?"

Lorelai smiled. "I'll have to thank him too. This is the true definition of a perfect date."

Spencer smiled.

They started to kiss and before long they were making love in the back of the truck. When they were done they cuddled up under the blankets and just laid there for a while longer. Lorelai was starting to fall asleep.

Spencer smiled. "Hey baby."

Lorelai smiled and mumbled. "Yea."

"As wonderful as this is. I think I should get you home. To your bed." He said

Lorelai shook her head. "No."

Spencer smiled and chuckled. "No huh?"

Lorelai giggled softly. "We can just sleep here."

Spencer smiled and took out his phone and texted Aaron. 'Don't expect her home tonight.' He knew Aaron would wait up all night for her if he was expecting her home. He had Derek's truck till the next day around noon, so he didn't worry about that.

"Okay. We will sleep here." He agreed. He made sure they were both covered well and fell asleep.
