Lorelai was applying a bit of lipstick to her lips in the mirror of her bathroom. She was getting ready to head out to a local club with her girls for her birthday. She was finally twenty-one. Her mind was wandering. Thinking back to her life before that day. The insanity of everything she had witnessed. Everything she had been through. The people she had met. How she had finally ended up in a place where she was truly happy. A place she truly belonged. She was so deep in thought she didn't notice her dad was standing in the door of her bathroom.

Aaron had a jewelry box in his hand and looked in on his eldest daughter. He stood there for a few seconds before he realized she didn't notice he was there. He cleared his throat.

Lorelai was shocked out of her thoughts. She looked over at him with a smile. "Sorry. Was thinking."

"Ah. About what?" he asked

"My life." Lorelai said

"You happy with it?" He asked

"Yes. Very. When we were kids Rebecca and I always talked about how we wanted out lives to be when we got out of that hellhole and that no matter what on well her 21st birthday we would meet up and dance the night away. Obviously thinks have come to light so we had to change it to my 21st birthday and obviously there are a few more people joining our celebration but. Its happening." Lorelai said "And I never imagined I would be as happy as I am. I would never have expected to be where I am living a good and successful life with a true family who loves me and whom I love more than anything."

Aaron smiled and nodded.

Lorelai noticed the small jewelry box in his hand. "What's that?" she asked a smile on her face.

"It's a jewelry box." He said with a smirk

"Ha. I knew that. What is in it?" She asked

He handed her the box. "It was Hailey's. Apparently it had belonged to her mother. And her mother before that. And goes back many generation. Its suppose to go to the oldest daughter on their 21st birthday. After Hailey passed away. Jessica got them but she knew Hailey would want you to have it." Aaron told her

Lorelai opened the box. It held a gold locket. "She's sure Hailey would want me to have it?"

Aaron nodded. "Open it."

Lorelai gently opened the locket and in there was a picture of her and Hailey. Lorelai let a tear fall.

"You were her daughter. And the oldest. It belongs to you now." He said, "And if you ever have a daughter it will be hers on her 21st birthday." Aaron told her

Lorelai took the necklace out of the box.

"I can help you put it on?" Aaron offered

Lorelai nodded and handed it to her. She turned around and moved her hair away from her neck. Aaron gently put it around Lorelai's neck and clasped it in the back.

Once it was on Lorelai looked in the mirror. She touched it gently. "You know I hate that man who took her from us."

"I know. I do too." Aaron said "But think about the good times. And go celebrate." He said

Lorelai turned around and hugged her dad

Aaron hugged her back.

The hug was broke a few seconds later when there was a knock on the door. She grabbed her shoes and clutch and went downstairs and opened the door. It was Alex there to pick her up. She had agreed to be the DD that night. Lorelai threw on her shoes and headed out the door with Alex and out to the car where the others were.

"Ooh. That's a new necklace?" JJ asked "Its pretty."

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "It was Hailey's. A family heirloom passed down from oldest daughter to oldest daughter on their 21st birthday. I guess Jessica was holding onto it for me."

"Wow. That's amazing." Penny said

"Hailey?" Alex asked

"Uh. Yeah. Jack's mother. She kind of took me and Rachel in as her daughters when we came around even though her and Aaron had already been divorced." Lorelai said

"Wow. I think that necklace means more than kind of took you in." Alex said

Lorelai nodded. "She was the first women to actually treat me like a daughter. But lets not talk about that or I will become a sobbing mess." She said

"Right. No crying tonight. Just drinks and dancing!" Rebecca said

Alex drove them to the club. Where they all went in and started to have a good time. After a couple drinks Lorelai and Becca were on the dance floor.

"So, is this what you pictured when we talked about this when we were kids?" Lorelai asked

Becca smiled and shook her head. "This is even better."

Lorelai nodded and smiled. She agreed fully

By the end of the evening. Lorelai and Rebecca were both tipsy. JJ & Penny had both had their fair share of drinks as well but weren't as drunk as the two other ladies. Alex being the DD had only one drink early in the night, so she was completely sober.

"Those two really can knock them back cant they?" Alex asked

"Its not their first-time drinking." JJ told her

"Clearly." Alex said with a chuckle

"Yeah. Ask my husband about the twice he busted Lorelai. In a bar. Underage drinking." JJ said

"Oh boy." Alex said. "She really doesn't go easy on her dad does she?"

Penny shook her head. "Nope. But honestly those two girls. They went through hell. The way they both give their dads a run for their money… It makes sense…"

"It was really that bad?" Alex asked

"You heard about the foster home in Idaho. The really bad one that got shut down a few years ago?" JJ asked

"Yeah." Alex said

"They grew up there. And the things that they went though since then too. They both needed to be shown true parental love and tough love sometimes too. To help them." Penny said

"And a lot of therapy." JJ added

"Wow. Didn't realize. Yeah I guess it does make sense." Alex said

"But they are both really good people. I don't know Becca as well. But Lorelai. Has the biggest heart. She feels everything ten times more than anyone else. She would run into a burning building to save a kid even if the fire department was already there." JJ said

Alex nodded. "I believe that. I've seen her in the cases with kids."

"Yeah. You've seen her help in the right way…" Penny said

Alex nodded. "I heard she was just getting off a six-month field work suspension when I joined."

JJ nodded "In the past. When a case involved a kid… or something personal. She… has ignored orders. And almost ended up dead. More than once. I think that suspension and the breakup with Spencer shocked her into realizing she needed to make some changes."

"Becca I think had some good foster parents before she aged out, so she wasn't as stubborn when she joined the family, but she definitely still needed that tough love." Penny told them

The two younger ladies came over. "More shots!" Becca said

"Yes!" Lorelai said

They ordered shots for everyone. They all took a shot expect Alex.

They continued to dance and drink till the early hours of the morning when the two young women had to be practically drag out of the club and into the car. When Alex got Lorelai home. JJ & Penny helped her into the house in the process waking up Aaron.

He came downstairs and shook his head with a smile. "I take it she had fun?" He asked

JJ and Penny chuckled. "Yup. She and Becca had to practically be dragged out of the club when they were closing." JJ said

Aaron helped them get her into bed. "Becca this drunk too?"

"No. Not quite as drunk. She was able to get inside herself." Penny said "Lorelai just kept going with the shots. And us trying to get her to stop didn't work" she added

Aaron shook his head.

"But its her birthday. She deserves to celebrate." JJ said

Aaron nodded.

They all said good night and the two ladies left and went out to the car and all went home.

Aaron got her some water. "Drink this. Trust me you don't want to be dehydrated."

Lorelai whined. "I don't wannaaaa."

Aaron smirked. He had never heard his daughter whine before. "I don't care if you want to. Its for your own good." He said

Lorelai sulked.

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "I'm not asking. I'm telling you drink it." He said

Lorelai sat up and took the bottle drinking half of it before putting it on her nightstand and passing out still fully dressed.

Aaron removed her shoes and made sure he was propped up on her side before covering her with a blanket and leaving her room.

He went back to bed himself.

A few hours later Aaron got back up and started on brunch. It was a Sunday morning tradition. He always made a big brunch for the family. Before long Rachel and Jack were up and downstairs for breakfast. Aaron got the food on the table before he went up and knocked on Lorelai's door.

He heard a groan before he went in. "You awake?" he asked

"No…" She said

"Than why did you answer?" He asked with a small chuckle. "Breakfast is ready. And food will help the hangover." He said

"You angry at me?" Lorelai asked

"Why would I be?" Aaron asked

"Because I got drunk?" She asked

"You're 21. As long as you're not going and getting drunk every weekend I don't have an issue with it." He said

Lorelai nodded. "I'll be down in a few minutes."

Aaron nodded and went.

Lorelai got up and went and looked in her mirror. "Yikes." She said. She washed her face and ran a brush though her hair. She changed into sweats and a baggie tee before going downstairs and grabbing a cup of coffee before sitting down and eating with the rest of the family.

"How was last night?" Rachel asked

"It was a lot of fun." Lorelai said

Rachel smiled and nodded

They finished eating.

"What do you have planned today?" Aaron asked his kids

"Spencer is taking me out for dinner but that's about it." Lorelai said

"I'm meeting up with a friend at the park." Rachel said

"Nothing." Jack said

"You two done your homework for the weekend?" Aaron asked his two younger kids

They both said yes.

Lorelai got up and started to clean the table. Rachel got up and helped her.

When they were done Lorelai went and took a shower & Rachel went to get ready to meet up with her friend.
