When she got to the Rossi house she knocked on the door.
David opened it. "Lorelai hello. Come on in." he said
Lorelai went inside. "I was hoping to talk to Jules. Let her know she is safe. If that is okay with you of course"
David nodded. "No issue with that. I've told her of course but she might believe it more if someone else tells her too." He said
Lorelai was led to the living room where she was watching cartoons. "Hey Jules." Lorelai said
Jules jumped from the couch and went and hugged her
Lorelai hugged her back. "Heard you had a tough day at school." She said
"Daddy told you?" Jules asked a little sad
"Yeah. Told me why too. Sometimes I have bad dreams and don't sleep well either. Makes me grumpy too." She said.
Jules nodded.
"But I came to talk to you about your biological father." She said
Jules looked scared.
"Don't worry. He is still in prison and because you told your dad what that other man told you me and Derek went to speak to him and the people at the prison are making extra sure he cant get out." Lorelai told her. "And we were able to figure out who the man was who talked to you in the park, and he is in trouble too." Lorelai added
"Really? So, I'm really safe from him?" Jules asked
Lorelai smiled and nodded. "You are safe. And you can help us keep you safe. If anyone ever tries to talk to you like that man did. Tries to tell you that he's coming for you. Scream. Tell your dad. Or the adult your with. Call me tell me. I will come and get you okay?" She said
Jules smiled and nodded.
Lorelai hugged her tight and her stomach grumbled.
"Was that your tummy?" Jules asked
Lorelai chuckled. "Yup. Think its time for me to go home and get some food."
"Or you can stay for dinner here." Dave said from behind.
Lorelai looked up. "I don't want to intrude on your family time."
"Really? You are family. You're staying." David said sternly
Lorelai chuckled. "Guess I cant argue with that."
"Yay!" Jules said
She texted her dad letting him know before she went and washed her hands and tried to help but food was ready, so they all sat down and ate.
"How are things with you and Spencer?" Dave asked
"Good. Things have changed but I think for the better. I'm happy and I think he is too so that's all that matters." She said
Dave nodded. "Agreed.
"How is school?" Lorelai asked Jules
"Okay…" Jules said
"Just okay?" Lorelai asked
"Almost everyone is mean to me." She said
That got David's attention. "What do you mean? The other students? The teachers?"
Jules looked up at him. "The other students. The teachers are nice. I just have one friend and everyone else is mean to me when she's not there."
"Have you talked to the teacher? Or another adult at the school?" Dave asked
Jules nodded. "The teacher stops it when she sees it, but she doesn't always see it."
"Well, you need to tell her every time." Dave told her
"Than I'll be the tattletale…" Jules said
"Think it would help if an older student showed up and showed they were your friend?" Lorelai asked thinking about Rachel.
"Rachel used to come around sometimes but lately she's been busy at lunch…" Jules said
"Busy with what?" Lorelai asked
"Um… Kissing someone." Jules said
Lorelai made a face. "Um. What?"
David's eyebrow raised.
"Yeah. She's always hiding in a stairwell kissing this girl." Jules said
Lorelai smirked her hand covered her mouth. Clearly Rachel had a secret.
"Who is this girl?" David asked
Jules shrugged. "I dunno her."
Lorelai took a breathe. "I will talk to her. Tell her to come visit you at lunch sometimes."
They finished eating and Lorelai insisted on helping clean up. After cleaning up David told Jules to get ready for bed. And Jules went off
David looked at Lorelai. "You think your dad knows about this other girl?"
Lorelai shook her head. "She's not allowed to even date till she's sixteen. I guess she can claim they aren't dating…"
David shook his head. "You're going to tell him right?"
Lorelai sighed. "I'm going to talk to her and let her tell him."
David nodded. "That's fair. But what if she refuses to?"
"Dave I don't think I can… I'm her sister… and I don't exactly agree with his rule. I mean no she shouldn't be making out in back corners of her school but she's doing it because she has to hide it from him…" Lorelai said
"Lorelai he is the father. You need to respect his rules. Whether you agree with them or not." David said
"I know. And I usually just stay out of it. Don't give an opinion either way. But now…" Lorelai said
"I can let you stay out of it. I will talk to your dad." David said
Lorelai nodded.
"That's okay with you?" David asked
"Does it really matter?" Lorelai asked
"Of course. I can let you talk to her. Get her to tell him. But if she doesn't you will have to. Or you can just leave it up to me." David said
"Yeah either way I feel like I'm ratting out my sister." She said
"No, you're not. I am. I am making the decision. I will tell Aaron. You can just stay out of it." He said
Lorelai opened her mouth to argue.
"I don't want to hear it. Your not making this decision." David said.
Lorelai chuckled. "I see. I get what your doing. Thank you. But I should get home anyways."
"To warn her?" David asked
"Do I get the chance to?" Lorelai asked
"One hour. You have one hour to get home. Driving safely. and talk to your sister and get her to tell him. I will be calling your dad in one hour." David told her
"Thank you." She said
Lorelai got up thanking him for dinner before going home. When she got home she went to her sisters room and knocked on the door.
"Yes?" Rachel said
Lorelai went in. Rachel was reading and looked up.
"Hey. What's up?" Rachel asked
Lorelai closed the door. "If you are going to be making out at school and don't want it to get out choose a place where little eyes wont see it."
"What?" Rachel asked
"Jules. Has seen you. And some girl kissing in the dark corners of the school. She told me that. At the table with Dave there…" Lorelai said
"Shit…" Rachel said
"He is calling dad in about 30 minutes. You have till then to tell dad." Lorelai told her
"WHAT?! No are you kidding me! Lorelai you couldn't talk him out of it?!" Rachel asked
"I'm sorry. You think I can make that man do anything?" Lorelai asked. "That fact that he's giving you a chance to tell dad yourself is a big deal. So, tell him or don't but he's going to know very soon." Lorelai said
"Thanks for nothing." Rachel said.
Lorelai nodded. "Nothing huh? Maybe I shouldn't have told you anything. Maybe I should have just let Dave bust you." She said before she left Rachel's room and went to her own.
"Screw you!" Rachel said as the door to Lorelai's room closed.
Aaron heard the end of what he figured was an argument. He went upstairs. "What did you just say and to whom?" He asked
"Nothing. Don't worry about it." Rachel said
Aaron crossed his arms. "No. You do not talk to anyone that way." He knocked on the door across from Rachel's room.
Lorelai opened it.
"Was the screw you directed to you?" Aaron asked
"Yup." Lorelai said
"Why?" Aaron asked
"Because I couldn't convince David to not tell you something about Rachel." Lorelai said
Aaron looked at Rachel. "What? Tell me now."
"Nothing." Rachel said
Aaron looked at Lorelai. "Do you want to tell me?"
"When I was having dinner with them tonight. Julianna let it be known that she has seen Rachel in the back corners of the school making out with a girl." Lorelai said
"What?" He asked looking at Rachel
Rachel sighed. "So much for letting me tell him."
"You weren't going to tell him!" Lorelai said
"Maybe I was. Just needed a minute." Rachel said
"Were you going to?" Lorelai asked
"None of your business." Rachel said
Lorelai looked at her dad. "Do you have any more question for me?"
"Why was Dave telling me and not you?" He asked
"I think that is a conversation we should have without her hearing." Lorelai said
Aaron looked at Rachel. "You are grounded. Until further notice. When you are ready to have a conversation come find me." He said closing Rachel door and going into Lorelai's room.
Lorelai took a breathe and closed the door and went and sat on her bed.
Aaron moved the chair from the desk and sat it so he could be across from her. "Tell me." He said calmly
"I have never voiced my opinion on the situation because its none of my business. But…. I don't necessarily agree with the rule of she not being allowed to date till she's sixteen. And I didn't want to get in the middle. I told this to David, and he took the decision away from me. He said he would tell you. He gave me one hour to get home and talk to Rachel and give her a chance to tell you herself." Lorelai told him
"Well. I appreciate you staying out of it. I also appreciate you being honest with me when you were asked and now." He said
"Whether I agree with the rule or not its not my place. You're the dad. You make the rules." Lorelai said
Aaron nodded. "Yes. I'm aware." He said
"Ha. But yes. That is why I wasn't the one telling you. I had conflicting opinions and didn't want to get involved." Lorelai said
"Okay." Aaron said
"You angry with me?" She asked
He shook his head. "No. But I am curious. Why don't you agree with that rule?"
"Because it just causes sneaky teenagers… hence her kissing this girl we know nothing about in the dark corners of her school." Lorelai told him "I wasn't allowed to date in the foster home. And how did that end for me? Pregnant. With a boy who I didn't actually have feelings for just because I was told no…" She said
Aaron sighed and nodded. "I can see your point."
"I get why parents make that rule though. Just trying to protect your kids from getting hurt. But dating or not people get hurt when the heart is involved." Lorelai pointed out. "And that is all I have to say about that." She said
Aaron nodded. "Thank you." He phone rang at that moment, and he looked at it.
"Dave?" Lorelai asked
"Yes." He said answering it before leaving the room closing the door behind him.
Lorelai sighed and laid on her bed. She grabbed her phone and called Spencer to tell him how things had gone in Colorado and since she had been home.
After getting off the phone with Dave, Aaron checked on Jack who was playing video games. "Time to start getting ready for bed buddy." It was already past his bedtime as it was.
Jack went and got ready for bed. Aaron went and said good night to him before going and knocking on Rachel's door.
"Yeah." He heard before he went in
"You ready to talk?" Aaron asked
Rachel shrugged looking up at him from her bed.
"We will have to talk eventually. And the longer you wait the harder its going to be." Aaron said
Rachel sighed. "I'm sorry I went behind your back. I just. I like this girl and I didn't want to wait…"
Aaron nodded and sat down on the bed across from her. "Okay. I get that. But I have the rule for a reason. And it wasn't long ago we discussed you having to wait till your sixteen. Part of being allowed to date is being mature enough for it. And going behind my back isn't being mature. If you really have an issue with a rule you come talk to me about it I cant promise it will change but it can help you understand why the rules are what they are."
Rachel nodded.
"Now this isn't the same girl you were talking to before right? Because she didn't go to your school." Aaron questioned
"Its not no. She. Um. Decided to stop talking to me after my team beat hers and she was pissed that I didn't 'let them win' like I have control over how the rest of my team plays or like I would not play to my best. Apparently it's a bad idea to get involved with someone on an opposing team." Rachel said
"Ah. Yeah. Sometimes it can cause issues. I'm glad you didn't let it affect how hard you tried." Aaron said. "Who is this new girl?" Aaron asked
"Her name is Daisy. She's in a couple of my classes." Rachel said
"I want to meet her. Invite her over." Aaron said
"I'm allowed to date her?" Rachel asked
Aaron shook his head. "No. Not until your sixteen. But she's your friend and I want to meet her."
Rachel sighed. "Come on dad. Its just a few months."
"Rachel you are on very thin ice. Keep pushing it and I will push the age to eighteen." Aaron told her
"Okay. Why do you feel so strongly about this rule?" Rachel asked
"Because your very young and when people start dating to young it can end in ways we don't plan." He said
"Benefit of me being with a girl I cant get pregnant." She said
"Yes but I'm not going to treat it any differently than if you were interested in boys." Aaron told her
Rachel nodded. "Okay. I get that. And appreciate that but its four months. How much more mature do you expect me to get in four months?" She said
"It is only four months, so I don't see why its so hard for you to wait that four months." Aaron told her
Rachel sighed "Because I really like this girl and what if she doesn't wait for me…"
"Than she is not worth your time. If she is someone who is right for you they will wait." Aaron told her. "How long have you two been kissing in the stairwells of the school?" He asked
Rachel sighed. "Two weeks." She said
Aaron nodded.
"How long am I grounded?" She asked
Aaron took a breathe. "I will let it slide. But no more kissing or dating till your sixteen. Deal?"
Rachel nodded a bit. "Deal."
"However, the disrespect to me and your sister." He said
"I'm sorry. And I will apologize to Lorelai too." Rachel said
"Go do that. Now." He said
Rachel went and knocked on her door.
"Yes?" Lorelai said
Rachel went in and closed the door. "I'm sorry."
Lorelai nodded. "Okay."
"Your pretty pissed at me aren't you?" Rachel asked
"Your smart. You can figure that out yourself." Lorelai said
"I'm going with yes. Look. I was just surprised. I figured no one would find out. I reacted badly. I know. I'm really sorry." Rachel said
"I was just giving you a heads up. I was trying to help you. I didn't deserve that." Lorelai said
"No. You didn't. I know. I cant force you to accept the apology." Rachel said before she turned to leave the room.
"Hey. You want to make it up to me. Show up for Julianna, so the bullies leave her alone." Lorelai said
Rachel sighed. "I guess I haven't been a good friend to her the last couple weeks."
"Fix it." Lorelai said
"I will." Rachel said
Lorelai nodded. "Fine. I forgive you."
Rachel nodded. They said good night and Rachel left the room and went back to her own.
Aaron had left Rachel's room at this point, so Rachel got ready for and went to bed.
Lorelai and Aaron went to bed not long after as well.
