Lorelai sat in the waiting room of the hospital. The roles reversed. She was waiting for news on Spencer. He was having tests done after he got tackled by their unsub. She was replaying everything in her mind wondering if she could have done more to protect him.

*flashback*

Their case had them in Georgia. Looking for a man who was kidnapping older men in order to use them for ritual sacrifice. They had been following leads and eventually found themselves at an abandoned slaughterhouse where they suspected their unsub might have been taking the victims to start his ritual. Hotch had sent two teams to investigate. Reid & Morgan was one and the other was Hotch Jr and Rossi. When the four had gotten to the scene they went inside the building from two separate entrances. Rossi & Hotch Jr. Heard a scream and went towards its. When they met with them inside they found Morgan had been trapped in a separate room and Reid on the ground unconscious. Lorelai was unsure of what happened because the next hour was a blur. Rossi got Morgan out of the room and called for an ambulance and Lorelai worked on waking up Spencer. She was able to get him awake as the ambulance arrived and she went to the hospital with Reid. He was taken in. Spencer had remembered being tackled by their unsub but that was the last thing he remembered.

*end flashback*

So now Lorelai just sat waiting for a doctor or nurse to come out and let her know he is in his room. She kept getting texts from members of the team asking if she had any news. It got to the point that she was getting frustrated that she sent a mass text. 'I have no information as of yet. I will let you know as soon as I know.' Hoping that everyone would give her a break. It was another hour before a nurse came out.

"He is on the way to his room. You can go and wait for him there if you would like." She said

Lorelai got up and followed her. "Do you know anything about the tests?"

"Doctor will be in to talk with the results soon." The nurse told her and showed her which room

"Thank you." Lorelai said before going in and sitting down. Spencer was brought in a few minutes later.

"Hey." She said. "How are you feeling?" She asked

Spencer smiled. "I'm okay."

"How's the head actually feeling?" Lorelai asked

"I have a bit of a headache nothing I cant handle." Spencer said

"You know if it was me on that bed lying you would be pissed." She said

Spencer chuckled a bit. "I'm really okay."

Lorelai shook her head. She didn't believe him. "Anywhere else hurt?"

"Not really no. Just a bit sore all over. Like I got tackled." He said

"Well, you did get tackled." Lorelai said

"That much I remember." He said

Lorelai took out her phone. "I should let the team know." She sent a text.

'He is awake and in his room. Waiting on text results. He had a bit of a headache and is sore all over.' She sent.

"They texting you every five minutes like every time when you are the one in for tests?" He asked

Lorelai chuckled. "Yes. I didn't realize they did that to you too. I sent a mass text after awhile telling them I would text them when I had news. It stopped the consistent texting."

"Yup. They care." He said

"I get the reasoning. But it doesn't make the tested happen any faster." Lorelai said

Spencer nodded and cringed.

"Yup. I knew it was worse they you were saying. Was that your head?" She asked

"I'm fine Lor." He said

Lorelai shook her head. "I know. There isn't much I can do to make you tell me the truth." She said her eyes sad

"Oh. Don't give me that look." He said

She continued to stare with sad eyes.

"I told you it's a headache. That's the truth." He said

"Fine. Scale 1 – 10 how bad?" She asked

The doctor came in. "I'd like to know that too." He said

"A six." Spencer said to both

"What do the tests say?" Lorelai asked

"A minor concussion. And your going to be sore for a few days. Any severe pain anywhere?" The doctor asked

"No." Spencer said. "Just the head. And soreness. Which is to be expected." Spencer said

The doctor nodded. "Well at least a week out of the field." He said

Spencer sighed. "Okay." He said

The doctor looked at Lorelai.

"I will make sure our superiors know yes." She said

"I can take care of that." Spencer said

"Okay." Lorelai said with a smile. She would let him do it.

The doctor cleared him to leave.

Spencer filled out the paperwork and they both left and went out to a car. Lorelai started the drive to the police station. It was quiet.

"You okay?" Lorelai asked

"Just not looking forward to a week out of the field." He said

"I handled far longer. You can do a week." She said with a small smile

"I know I can. Doesn't mean I want to or will like it." He said with a chuckle

"Hey. You sound like me!" She said with a smirk

"Funny." He said

"Just don't be like me. Follow those orders." She said as she pulled into the police station.

"Yes because I will have that choice." He said with a chuckle.

The two of them went inside.

Spencer spoke to Hotch let him know what the doctor had said. Hotch thanked him and they all got to the paperwork as while they were in the hospital the rest of the team got their unsub and were all finishing up on the case.

At one point Rossi took Hotch Jr. aside away from the group.

"What's up?" Lorelai asked

"The way you handled yourself at the slaughterhouse today. I'm impressed." He said.

Lorelai made a face. "What do you mean?"

"I mean there was more than one occasion where you could have gone off on your own. And when we heard Spencer scream. I know you wanted to run to him, but you did what you were supposed to." Rossi said

Lorelai took a breathe. "When we heard him scream. Did you think I was going to run toward it?"

"Doesn't matter what I expected. You didn't. You did the right thing. I'm proud of you." He said

Lorelai smiled a bit. "Thanks. Guess its going to be awhile before I'm fully trusted."

"Hey. I didn't mean to upset you. This is a good thing." Rossi said

"I know. And I appreciate it. I do. I just. The fact that you have to tell me that your proud of me for not doing what I shouldn't have ever done anyways…" She said

"You came to the FBI as a child. Literally a child. From a situation where you didn't have proper boundaries to learn and grow. You were forced to have to learn from your mistakes. Those mistakes just happened to be things that lead to dangerous situations. If you had the upbringing that you should have had. It might have changed how you reacted to those situations." Rossi said

Lorelai nodded. "Well thank you." She said

Rossi could tell she didn't want to talk about this anymore so the two went back to work.

They finished up the paperwork before they got on the jet and went home.
