Lorelai got to the office early the next day. She was the first one there. She sat down at her desk and a few minutes later she saw the director coming towards her desk. She took a deep breathe. She hadn't spoken to him since the meeting with HIS boss.
"Director." She said when he came and stood in front of her desk
"Agent Hotchner Jr. A certain situation has been brought to my attention." He said
"Um. What?" She asked. Who had told him. It was not work related he didn't need to know.
"About Delilah Poppers." He said
"Oh." She said. That wasn't what she was expecting. "She okay?" Lorelai asked
"Her health has taken a turn for the worse. The cancer is winning." He said
Lorelai nodded. "It was inevitable. She is refusing treatment."
"Just thought you would like to know. Maybe go visit her again. I can approve the time off." He said
"Not necessary." She said.
The director took a breathe. "I heard what she said to you. About being like your biological father. Have you read his file?"
"No Sir. I was told not to. Sometimes I listen to orders." She said with a small smile
The director smirked. "Well. You are nothing like him. You might share some physical looks but that's it." He assured her
"Well, I kind of knew that. I wouldn't do any of the things he did. I care about my family. And would defend them not attack them. I don't have a drug or alcohol problem. I know I'm nothing like him. But thank you for saying so." She said
"I want you to know that I know I've made mistakes. And if I could go back in time and change some of the choices I made I would, but the past is just that. The past." The director said
"I know. I don't hold any resentment towards you. I've made my share of mistakes too." Lorelai said
He nodded. "You sure you don't want to make a final visit?" he asked
"I'm sure. I went over fifteen years thinking she was dead. Not being given a chance to say goodbye. Well, I got that chance. I got my closure." Lorelai said
The director nodded. "Okay. Your choice." He said before he said bye and headed up to his office.
Derek was the next one in. "Morning." He said
"Morning." Lorelai said
"Becca told me what happened. She said your okay. But I'm going to ask you. Are you?" He asked
Lorelai nodded. "Yes. I promise. A bruise that is already going away is the only physical injury."
"Good." He said "He contacts you again please let me know. There is nothing stopping him from turning on Becca next."
"I know. I will. I promise." She said
"Okay. How are you feeling?" He asked
"Everything comes at once it seems. Things with Delilah, with Kevin. My life story being told for the world to know. What's next?" She asked
"You know if you need some time off…" Derek started
"No. I need my work. I need the distraction." She said
Derek nodded.
Lorelai's phone started to ring. She looked at it and let out a huffed laugh. "You the one who called Emily?" she asked
Derek chuckled. "No. I think Penny did though."
Lorelai answered it on speaker. "Emily. Hi. Your on speaker in the squad room. Derek is here too."
"Hi both of you. Lorelai are you okay?" She asked
"Yes Em. Promise. I'm fine." She said
"Good. I also hear maybe there is a girls trip in the works?" Emily said
"Um. Nothing has been decided. I just suggested it to Becca. Haven't talked to anyone else yet. But yes I want to come visit you." Lorelai said
"Well, I'm all for it. We can arrange it when I can take some time off as well so I can show you all around. Penny and Derek are the only ones who have visited me." Emily said
Just than Aaron came into the room.
"Hotch is here now too." Lorelai said
"Hello Hotch." Emily said
"Emily. Are you going to cause a distraction to the team?" He asked a smirk on his face.
"No. Just calling to check in on Hotch Jr. I heard what happened." She said
"Ah. Yes. Well, she is fine. Unless she is lying which she hasn't ever been able to do when I can look at her." He said
"I will figure out my tell eventually." Lorelai said
"No, you wont." All three of them said at the same time.
Lorelai chuckled. "Okay. I'm sorry. Thanks for checking up on me Em. Promise I'm fine. We will do a group call with the other ladies sometime soon so we can start making plans for the girls trip." She said.
"Sounds good. I'll let you go so grumpy McGee doesn't come down to hard on you." Emily said with a chuckle.
Lorelai suppressed a laugh.
They all said bye before Lorelai ended the call
Aaron shook his head and went to his office. Lorelai and Derek looked at each other and smirked.
"She only can get away with that because she is on another continent." Derek said
Lorelai laughed. "I agree."
Slowly the rest of the team showed up. When Rossi got there he went to her desk.
"Your okay?" He asked
Lorelai sighed. "Okay. I'm saying this for the last time, so everyone listen. Yes. I am okay. Bruise on my arm is the only physical injury. And I'm sorry if that comes off as rude I just don't want to have to keep repeating myself." She said
Rossi nodded. "Can I see this bruise?" He asked
"Its on my upper arm. Its not that bad. Ask Spencer." She said
"I mean it was pretty bad when I saw it two days ago." Spencer said.
Lorelai shot him a look. "Your supposed to be on my side."
"Let me see it." Rossi said
Lorelai sighed and pushed up the sleeve of her shirt and showed the bruise. "Your worse than my father." She said
Rossi chuckled. "Okay. You're right its not that bad."
"It does look better than when I saw it." Spencer said
"Now can we please just get back to work?" Lorelai asked fixing the sleeve of her shirt.
They all agreed and got to work. When the time came for a new case they all headed to the conference room and than the jet 30 mins later.
