The next day Rachel wasn't feeling well and just wanted to stay in the room. It was raining and they were going to go to aquarium and Rachel wasn't sad to be missing it so would just stay in the room and rest. Lorelai just figured she was dealing with the heat of the last couple days.
"Drink lots of water." Lorelai said
Rachel nodded.
Lorelai and Jack went to the museum. Running into their friends. They laughed. "Great minds think alike." John said.
The kids giggled.
"Or kids know how to trick us into going to the same place." Lorelai said with a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry…" they all said
Lorelai, Hunter, and John chuckled. "Come on. Lets go explore." Hunter said
They all explored. The kids were all having a good time. Lorelai felt like she was being watched. She looked around. She saw the guy from the arcade he was smirking at her. Lorelai ignored him and kept going along.
"You okay?" Hunter asked looking at Lorelai.
"Yes." Lorelai said with a smile.
Eventually out of no where someone grabbed Lorelai by the arm and pulled her in close. "I'm going to give you another chase to come to your senses." This guy said
Lorelai was to stunned she couldn't fight.
Jack saw what was happening first.
"YOU LEAVE MY SISTER ALONE!" he yelled. That caused everyone to turn and look. John went over. "You heard the kid. Let her go." He said calmly
The guy rolled his eyes and pushed Lorelai hard causing her to land hard on her ass.
Security came over and took the guy.
Hunter helped Lorelai up. "Is this the same guy?"
Lorelai nodded.
"This is the second time this guy has bothered her." Hunter told them
Security assured them it would be handled.
"It better be." John said.
Everyone went back to what they were doing, and John looked at Lorelai. "Are you okay? Do we need to get you to the hospital?" he asked
"I think I'm okay." She said. "Just shaken up."
"You sure?" John asked.
"Yes." Lorelai said she turned to Jack who was right by here and she got down to his level and gave him a big hug. "You did everything right. You used your words. I'm proud of you." She said
Jack smiled.
"And daddy is going to be so proud of you too when I tell him." Lorelai said
Jack smile grew. "Your okay? Daddy would make you go to the hospital wouldn't he?"
Lorelai smiled. "He would probably try yes."
"And so would Spencer right?" Jack asked
"Again, probably try yes." Lorelai said
"Than I think you should." Jack said
"I'm really okay Jack." Lorelai said
"If you say so." Jack said. Lorelai stood up
"Would Spencer insist you go?" John asked
"Probably." Lorelai said
"But she says she's fine." Hunter said backing up his new friend.
John shook his head. "Okay. But if it comes up I wanted to make you go."
"Okay." Lorelai said with a chuckle.
They continued with the aquarium. At the end of the tour, they went and got some lunch. Lorelai texted Rachel 'how are you feeling?'
'Still feeling kinda bla.' She responded before looking back up across the table at her friend.
"Your sister?" Brooke asked
"Yup." Lorelai said
"You're going to get caught." She said
"No, I wont. I'll be back before they are." Rachel said
"Okay." Brooke said
They ate their lunch.
As Lorelai ate she started to feel a little nauseous and go white.
"Um. Lorelai. Your white…" Hunter said
"Just a little nauseous." She said
"Morning sickness you still dealing with it?" John asked
"Um. No. Not for a few weeks." Lorelai said. "I think I just need to lay down."
"Okay." Hunter asked. They paid before going back to the hotel.
They got Lorelai to her room. "Isn't Rachel supposed to be here?" Hunter asked
"Yup. Maybe she went to get food." Lorelai said. She sat on the bed and texted Rachel.
'How are you feeling now?' Lorelai asked
'Not much better. Going to turn of the TV and get a nap in I think' Rachel said
Lorelai took a breathe. "Yup. She played me."
Hunter shook his head. "Teenagers."
'Cut the crap. You have ten minutes to get back to the room' Lorelai texted her
"Want us to take Jack?" Hunter asked. "Probably just going to let them play in the play area for a couple hours."
Lorelai looked at Jack.
Jack nodded.
"You behave. You do not want me annoyed with you today." Lorelai warned
"I will. Promise." Jack said
"Good." She said.
Hunter took Jack and Lorelai laid down.
When Rachel got the text she sighed. "Fuck"
"Busted?" Brooke asked
"Yup…" Rachel said.
They paid for their lunches and Rachel went back to the room. She saw Lorelai laying on the bed.
"Are you okay?" Rachel asked
"You played me." Lorelai said.
"I – just. I. Um… Yea…" Rachel said
"You are in big trouble." She said
"I know…" Rachel said
"Where were you?" Lorelai asked
"I went to lunch with Brooke." Rachel said "But are you okay? You don't look okay."
"Guy who was at the arcade yesterday was at the aquarium. He grabbed me and when John got involved this guy pushed me hard. On my ass. I think mixed with the heat from the last couple days. I'm a little shaken up." Lorelai said
"Lorelai you need to go to the hospital." Rachel said
"You are not in the position to tell me what to do." Lorelai said
Rachel took out her phone and called her dad.
"Rachel hey. What's up?" He asked when he answered
"Dad. Lorelai got pushed on her ass by that same guy from yesterday. She is white as a ghost and wont go to the hospital." Rachel said
Lorelai looked up. "You called DAD?!"
"Put me on speaker." Aaron said
Rachel did so.
"Lorelai Hotchner. Hospital. Now." He said
"Dad I'm fine. I'm just tired." Lorelai said
"I'm at the office. I'm looking at Spencer at his desk. Do not make me go tell him what happened." Aaron said
"That is not fair. I plan on telling him what happened myself." Lorelai said
"And you don't think he will want you to go to the hospital?" Aaron asked
"One of the new friends I have made is a doctor. He didn't see the need to force me to go." Lorelai said
"What did he say Rachel?" Aaron asked
"I don't know… I wasn't actually there." Rachel said
"Where were you?" Aaron asked
"She played me. She made me think she was dealing with heat exhaustion, and she wanted to stay in the room. I got back and she wasn't here. She had lunch plans with her new friend apparently." Lorelai said. "And yes I had ever intention of making sure you knew."
"Rachel Hotchner." Aaron said
"I know. I accept the consequences. But Lorelai isn't okay…" Rachel said
"You know where this doctor friend is currently?" Aaron asked them both
"No, I'm not sure. I'm guessing Jack is with them wherever they are." Rachel said
"They are at the play area in the hotel." Lorelai said
"And this doctor knows what happened?" Aaron asked
"Yes. He was there. He interfered but the guy just got pissed and shoved me oh and you would be so proud of Jack. He saw the guy bothering me and he used his big voice and yelled at the guy to leave me alone." Lorelai said
Aaron chuckled. "Good."
"He even tried to tell me I should go to the hospital like you, or Spencer would." Lorelai said
"So, If I was there I would make you go to the hospital?" Aaron asked
"I mean you would try." Lorelai said
"And the doctor didn't see the need for you to go?" Aaron asked
"Nope." She said her voice getting a little higher
"Rachel can you go get this doctor?" Aaron asked
"Dad. No." Lorelai said.
"Why because your lying to me?" Aaron asked
Lorelai sighed. "Yes sir." She said
"Rachel. You need to go get one of the new friends to take Lorelai to the hospital. Leave your phone with Lorelai at the moment. You need to take care of Jack till Lorelai gets back. Can you do that?" Aaron asked
"Yes." Rachel said she left the room leaving her phone with Lorelai.
"Lorelai. You have two choices here. You can cooperate. Go to the hospital. Call Spencer tell him what's going on or deal with the consequences when you get home. Because I do not care how old you are I will spank you. Am I clear?" He asked
"Yes sir…" Lorelai said
Hunter and John came back to the room. "You conceding to go to the hospital?" John asked
"I'm not being given a choice." Lorelai said she said holding up the phone. "She called our dad."
"Ah. Okay well we will take you." Hunter said, "Rachel offered to watch the three kids."
"I know people at this hospital I will get you in quickly" John said
"You do? How?" Lorelai asked
"I went to university here and did part of my residency here. I have privileges at this hospital as well." John said
"I take it you're the doctor?" Aaron asked through the phone.
"John, Hunter My father Aaron, Dad John, Hunter." Lorelai said
"Yes sir. I did try go convince her to go earlier." John said
"I don't doubt that. I know how stubborn she is." Aaron said
Lorelai got up and went with the two of them on the way giving Rachel back her phone.
At the hospital John spoke to a few people and he was told what room was available and Lorelai was taken in quickly for an ultrasound. "You're okay with me doing this?" John asked. "Or would you prefer a woman?" He asked
"I don't have an issue." Lorelai said before she called Spencer on video chat.
"Hey babe. How are you?" Spencer asked
"Long story short. Dick guy from yesterday was at the aquarium today. He grabbed me and when John interfered the guy shoved me, and I landed on my ass. I'm fine. But Rachel called my dad and I have been forced to go to the hospital. I am here with Hunter and John. John is an obstetrician he has privileges at this hospital.. I didn't want you to find out from my dad. I was going to tell you either way." She said
"What tests are you having done?" Spencer asked
"Bloodwork has been done. About to do an Ultrasound. I don't know what else." Lorelai said
"Okay." Spencer said
"We don't know the gender and don't want to." Lorelai said
John nodded. "I have no reason to check that area." He said "You're 20 weeks right?"
"Yes." Lorelai said
"I will just check for anything that could have been an issue from the fall. I'll let your regular doctor do the normal 20-week scan." The doctor said
He checked a few things. "Everything looked okay. Do you have any pain?"
"Well, my butt and lower back." Lorelai said
"On your side please." He said when the ultrasound was done.
Lorelai turned on her side. John checked. "Well, you are bruising. We should get an x-ray." He said.
Lorelai nodded. "Okay."
She was taken for x-ray. And was back before long.
Hunter handed her back her phone. "Your dad has called. Twice."
Lorelai chuckled and called him.
"Hey Lorelai. Spencer is in my office you're on speaker." Aaron said
"You two need to chill a little I was getting an x-ray." Lorelai said.
John came back in. "Well. I have some good news and some bad news."
"Bad news first." Lorelai said
"Your white blood count is high. And platelets are low. Good news is you have no broken bones. You likely bruised your tailbone. You will be sore." He said. "The bloodwork. And other symptoms. You have heat stroke. Made worse by the extra stress on your body from the fall." John said
"I've been chugging water like its going out of style." Lorelai said. "I have stayed under an umbrella out of the sun most of the time. How do I have heat stroke?" Lorelai asked
"Its been higher than normal temperature the last couple days." John said. "You didn't do anything wrong." He added
Lorelai sighed. "Well, what do I do than?" Lorelai asked with a bit of annoyance.
"Take a couple days out of the sun. Convenient that its supposed to rain again tomorrow." John said "Keep drinking the water. Drink something with liquid IV as well." He said
Lorelai nodded. "Okay." She said
"I'm going to go get the paperwork started. Once your IV is done we can get out of here." John said before he went. He came back shortly after, and Lorelai signed some paperwork, and they went back to the hotel.
The kids were all in Lorelai's room. "These two boys got us kicked out of the play area." Rachel said
"What did you two do?" Hunter asked
Neither of them answered
"They were fighting with a couple other kids. All got kicked out." Rachel said. "I tried to stop it, but they wouldn't listen."
"Callum. Lennox come on. Back to out room." John said arms crossed at his son.
Lorelai's arms were crossed at her little brother. She took out her credit card and handed it to her sister. Can you do me a favor and go check the little grocery store next door for gatorade and any liquid IV powder? I'm dealing with heat stroke. The baby is okay." She told her
Rachel took it and went.
Lorelai sat down and pointed to the other chair in the room "Sit." She told her brother
Jack sat down.
"You promised you would behave. What happened?" She asked
He shrugged.
"Not an answer young man." Lorelai said
"The other kids were being mean." Jack said
"To you?" Lorelai asked
"Yes. To me and Callum." Jack said
"Could you walk away?" Lorelai asked
Jack nodded.
"Why didn't you?" Lorelai asked
"I'm sorry…" Jack said
"Again, not an answer." Lorelai said, "What did they say or do that was mean?"
"They said we couldn't play on the slides cause of Callum having two dads." Jack said
Lorelai sighed. "Well that wasn't right but why didn't you go get one of the adults who were working?" She asked
"I was going to… But Callum said we could handle it ourselves." Jack said
Lorelai took a breathe and nodded. "But you knew better."
"Yes…" he said
"Since I have to stay in and rest tomorrow. I think we are all going to stay in this room." Lorelai said
"Nooo. I want to play with Callum." Jack said
"I think you two need a break from each other." Lorelai said
Jack sulked.
Rachel came back in the room with a bag of stuff and handed Lorelai back her credit card. Lorelai put it away.
"Your little stunt today Rachel has landed you staying in the room all day tomorrow. We all will be." Lorelai said
Rachel nodded. "Okay."
Lorelai's phone started to ring she went over and answered. "Hey Hunter."
"I was informed that Jack wanted to do the right thing and Callum made the situation worse. I want to apologize he does know better." Hunter said
"Either way they both stayed and were part of the fight. They are both kids. Its okay." Lorelai said. She was relieved that this didn't cause an issue for their friendship as it could have. "Did Callum tell you what these other kids said?" Lorelai asked
"Just that they wouldn't let them use the slide." Hunter said
"Apparently these other boys told them they couldn't use the slide because of certain opinions they probably got from their parents." Lorelai said
"Because he has two dads?" Hunter asked
"Yeah." Lorelai said.
"Okay. Thanks for letting me know." Hunter said
"Of course. Were going to be spending the day in the room tomorrow so maybe we can see about the plans for the amusement park the next day." She added
"That sounds like a plan I agree the boys need a day apart." Hunter said
They hung up.
The next day came soon. The three of them slept in. When they got up it was a slow start eventually they ordered room service to the room for brunch.
Rachel got a text and sighed.
"What is it?" Lorelai asked
"And chance I could get you to bend your no one leaves the room rule. Just for ten minutes." Rachel asked
"Nope." Lorelai said
"Come on please. I just want to see Brooke." Rachel said
"Absolutely not." Lorelai. "And keep pushing it I wont let you see her at all for the rest of the trip." Lorelai said
Rachel sulked and put her headphones on and turned on her music.
She texted Spencer. 'I'm so glad we will have at least a few years before the sulking starts with our little one'
Spencer read the text and smirked. 'Who is giving you a hard time?'
'Rachel. I have decided between her playing me, Jack not knowing how to keep his hands to himself and me having to take it easy. We are staying in the room today. No one out no one in. Even eating in the room.' Lorelai said
'Ah. I'm glad your following doctors orders.' Spencer said
'Of course.' Lorelai responded
"I need something at the store." Rachel said
"Oh really? What?" Lorelai asked
"Female things." Rachel said
"Oh, I have some of those." Lorelai said
"Why would you have them? You're pregnant." Rachel said
"Because I do. Now do you actually need them or are you trying to play me again?" Lorelai asked
Rachel crossed her arms and didn't move.
Lorelai went and flopped next to her on the bed. "Come on. Why don't we all watch a movie?" Lorelai said
"Yay!" Jack said
"Whatever." Rachel said.
Lorelai put on a movie that they would all enjoy. They spent the day in the room as Lorelai had planned. Eventually Rachel stopped moping and they even pulled out a deck of cards that Lorelai had brought and played some card games. It was the perfect bonding day they all needed. For dinner they ordered in as well and afterwards they put on another movie. At one point they did call Aaron for the nightly check in. Lorelai found it a bit ridiculous, but she didn't want to fight her dad on it, so she just did as he asked. Afterwards they finished the movie before going to bed.
