The next couple of days they spent in the amusement park. Everyone was on their best behaviours. Lorelai was keeping herself hydrated and was feeling completely back to normal again. She made sure not to over do it. The second day in the amusement park was Saturday and their last day they were going to be there. Lorelai allowed Rachel to invite Ericka and Brooke to join them as well and they did. The three of them were having a great time. At one point Ericka had to head back to the hotel. Rachel looked at Lorelai.
"Can I take Brooke to the arcade?" She asked silently begging with her eyes. Lorelai took a breathe. "I promise if you do something stupid I will make sure you are grounded for the next six months."
Rachel smiled. "Is that a yes?"
"Go." Lorelai said.
Rachel and Brooke went off together.
Lorelai took a breathe.
"Wondering if you made the right choice?" Hunter asked
"Yup." Lorelai said
"I'm sure they will be fine." Hunter told her
Lorelai smiled and nodded, and they finished at the amusement park for the day. They headed back to the hotel to pack and start getting ready to go the next morning.
Rachel was walking back from the arcade holding Brooke's hand as they walked along the beach. "This week has been amazing." Rachel said
Brooke nodded. "I agree. It was a really fun week. I really like that I met you and had a chance to really get to know you."
"What happens now? Do we just say it was a summer vacation fling or do we connect in September when you are at UOV?" Rachel asked
"I do not know. I really like you that I know for sure. I just wonder if the sun and sand are making us feel more that we will when we are back to our normal lives." Brooke said
"We can stay friends and see what happens?" Rachel said
Brooke smiled. "That sounds like a perfect plan."
The sun was setting. Rachel and Brooke looked at each other and took a breathe. No true summer fling could end without a kiss.
They both leaned in, and their lips touched, and they kissed. When they did they could both feel the sparks. They broke the kiss after a few seconds. They said goodbye and both went to their own hotels. When she got to the room Rachel sat on the bed.
Lorelai saw the look. She knew that look. Her sister was falling in love. Lorelai went and sat next to her.
"You want to talk?" Lorelai asked
"I just. I am just. Is this?" Rachel asked
"Do the love songs make sense?" Lorelai asked with a smile
Rachel took a breathe and nodded. "Holy shit they do."
Lorelai smiled "Well I think you have your answer. And watch your mouth."
Rachel smiled. "Sorry."
Lorelai nodded. "Its forgiven. Now I know you have all these amazing new feelings. But we need to pack."
"Just give me a few minutes." Rachel said
Lorelai smiled and nodded. She made sure her a Jack were as packed as possible. Rachel started to pack and around 8pm they went to have their final dinner with their new friends.
Hunter saw the look on Rachel's face too and nudged Lorelai and whispered. "She's falling in love isn't she?"
"Yup." Lorelai said. "I cant believe when we came on this trip I thought we would spend it just the three of us. But all of us are coming out of it with new friends and closer than ever."
Hunter smiled. "We will definitely need to get the kids together back home. And double dates. Need to meet that man of yours."
Lorelai smiled and nodded. "Agreed to both."
They all finished eating and paid and said goodbye. They would be leaving at different times the next day and it was easier to say their goodbyes now. When they went back to the rooms everyone went to bed.
The alarm went off the next morning at 6am for Lorelai's crew. The three got up got ready and did the last-minute packing. Lorelai and Rachel did a final look around the room checking under the beds and behind things to make sure they forgot nothing. They packed the car and Lorelai went and checked out.
They got into the car and started for home. They had come on this vacation for some bonding and were leaving being closer than ever. With tan lines that would fade but memories that would last a lifetime.
