Chapter 3 of Burning Love is here. There will be a time jump to 1 month after Chapter 2. I hope you enjoy.

Xavier mansion:

It had been a long two weeks since Wanda Maximoff joined the Xavier School Of The Gifted: she was enjoying herself but one thing had changed: her and Jean hadn't spoken. Everytime Wanda tried to talk to her, Jean would say that she was too busy or that now wasn't the right time.

It was lunchtime and just as Wanda was about to sit with Karolina and Nico, she noticed that Jean was already sitting with them so Wanda decided to head in the opposite direction and towards the front gates.

"Wanda, is everything okay?" Wanda turned around to see Professor McCoy walking over, he looked concerned as he had noticed Wanda walking away from Karolina, Nico and Jean. "Are you and Jean still not talking?" Hank asked and Wanda nodded then she looked down at her hands.

"It's because of my powers: everytime our hands touched, they would start glowing." Wanda explained which made Hank interested. "Has something like this happened to any others here?" Wanda asked even though she doubted any others had a similar connection.

"Actually, yes." Hank answered as he and Wanda started walking across the grass. "Karolina and Nico have something similar between them. They were able to control when it happens to them through their feelings for each other." Hank explained as he and Wanda looked over at Karolina and Nico, they were holding hands but nothing was happening.

"But they're a couple. Jean and I were friends, nothing more." Wanda told him and Hank nodded. "Is there any way to find out what's wrong with me?" Wanda asked then she noticed that Hank was thinking about something.

"This is just a theory but what if your powers are linked to your emotional state? It could explain how your magic-like abilities act when you're feeling different emotions." Hank suggested and Wanda thought about his theory carefully.

"So you think the reason behind my and Jean's hands glowing is because we have feelings towards each other?" Wanda asked and Hank nodded with a hopeful smile. "I will admit that when I first saw Jean, she thought to myself that she looked cute and the next thing I know, Jean looked up and winked at me." Wanda told Hank as they continued walking.

"Jean spoke to me about this and she said that since you came here, she hasn't ever felt happiness. She developed a crush on you when she heard you called her cute." Hank told her which surprised Wanda and it made her confused.

"How did Jean hear me? I thought it in my head." Wanda told the Professor. Hank sat down on a bench with a smile then he looked up at Wanda.

"Jean's got gifts similar to yours, Wanda. She has telepathy and telekinesis, the same kind that you can do." Hank explained then something came to him. "What if the reason behind yours and Jean's hands glowing is because of how identical your powers are? Like you two are two halves of a whole?" Hank suggested and as she started thinking about it, Wanda couldn't think of any other reason.

"If that is true, what should I do?" Wanda asked as she wasn't sure. Hank stood up and gave Wanda a hopeful smile.

"The only thing I can say is talk to her, Wanda." Hank told her and he could see that Wanda was afraid. "I'm sure you can do it. If you can take on Ultron with the Avengers, you can talk to Jean." Hank encouraged her and Wanda knew that her teacher was right, she nodded then smiled.

"You're right, Hank. Thanks." Wanda thanked and Hank nodded with a smile. "I gotta go. I've got a red haired beauty to talk to." Wanda told her teacher and before Hank could say anything, Wanda had run off to talk to Jean. Hank headed towards the pond, he was wishing that things went okay between Jean and Wanda.

Class:

Jean was walking with Nico and Karolina to their next class but Karolina was silent as she was on her phone. Nico stopped while Jean carried on walking, she looked behind to see Nico and Karolina looking at Karolina's phone.

"Jean, it's from Wanda." Karolina told her then she walked over to Jean and showed Jean the text message: it was Wanda asking if Karolina or Nico knew where Jean was. "Jean, you need to talk to her. We know that you're nervous but when you and Wanda started to get to know each other, we saw you happy a lot more. Don't you miss being around her?" Karolina asked and Nico nodded in agreement.

"It kinda reminded me of when Karolina and I when we first realised our feelings for each other." Nico admitted and that made Karolina smile. "Now, go. We'll teach the Professor that you're taking care of some personal problems." Nico told her and Jean smiled then hugged her friends.

"Message Wanda: tell her to wait by the pond." Jean told Karolina then she ran off to the pond, Karolina and Nico both smiled then Karolina started to message Wanda.

The pond:

Wanda was standing by the pond whilst looking at her reflection, she was hoping that Jean would arrive so they could talk things out between them. She was just about to look at her phone when she heard someone running towards her, Wanda looked behind her to see that it was Jean.

"Thank god you're still here." Jean sighed as she stopped, she was feeling out of breath so she sat down and against a tree. "Wanda, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have ran off back then." Jean apologised as Wanda sat down next to her.

"It's fine, Jean. The Avengers did the same when they didn't understand my powers…" Wanda was going to continue talking but stopped when Jean placed her hand on top of Wanda's.

"No. It's not fine. I should've stayed and helped you learn how to control your powers, that's what friends do." Jean told her and Wanda could see a tear rolling her friend's cheek so Wanda moved her hand and wiped Jean's tear away. "I'm so sorry, Wanda." Jean repeated and Wanda smiled. When Jean placed her other hand on Wanda's hand that was by her face, their hands glowed again but they neither let go of the other.

"Maybe the best way to face fear is head on." Wanda suggested and Jean nodded then the glow started to spread from their hands to all over their body: Wanda was glowing red and Jean was glowing yellow. "Maybe it's like what Hank said: we're two halves of a whole." Wanda remembered as she looked at Jean.

"Something similar to Karolina and Nico, I guess. The light and the dark of people." Jean added and Wanda nodded. After a while, the glow faded away and their pair were still holding hands. "I wonder what happens now." Jean asked as they slowly let go of each other.

"So, do you think I'm cute?" Wanda asked without thinking, she quickly covered her mouth but couldn't hide her blushing cheeks. Jean looked surprised as she couldn't hide the fact that when Wanda wasn't looking, Jean would look at her.

"I'm guessing you know that I'm a telepath?" Jean asked and Wanda nodded as she was now covering her blushing red cheeks. "Well, I can't lie and say you aren't cute." Jean admitted which made Wanda look at the redhead.

"When we were at the mall, I was checking out." Wanda told her which surprised Jean. "Guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you I'm not into guys? But into beautiful redheads, I'm mainly interested in the redhead sitting next to me." Wanda whispered which surprised Jean but it made her feel special.

"Well, after our quick look at each other on your first day here, I did think that you were more than just cute." Jean confessed as she placed her left hand on top of Wanda's right hand. "I thought you were gorgeous." Wanda blushed but before she could look away, Jean used her right hand to slowly turn Wanda's face so she could smile at her.

"I want… I want to…" Wanda was staying to form a sentence but she could as she was looking at the beauty that was Jean Grey. Instead of trying to say something, Wanda leant forward and quickly kissed Jean on the lips then backed off. "Sorry if that was too forward." Wanda apologised but Jean shook her head.

"Don't apologise. I actually liked it." Jean confessed then she leant forward and kissed Wanda on her lips but it lasted a while. After a couple of minutes, Wanda and Jean moved their heads back to reveal that they were both blushing as red as Jean's hair.

"That was my first kiss with another woman." Wanda confessed as she pushed her hair behind her shoulders. Jean smiled as she looked at Wanda, she then held Wanda's hand and Wanda looked up.

"It was my first kiss with a woman too but I'm glad it was you, Wanda." Jean told her which made Wanda feel special. "Wanda, I know that it's too soon but…" Jean paused as she felt silly to ask but she wanted to know Wanda's answer. "Wanda, would you like to go out with me? As my… girlfriend?" Jean asked and Wanda chuckled as she held both of Jean's hands.

"Too soon? Doubt it. Besides, how could I say no to a beautiful angel like you?" Wanda asked with a smile and it made Jean happy. "Jean, I will be your girlfriend." Wanda answered then the pair got up and smiled at each other.

"How do you want to do this?" Wanda asked but the question confused Jean. "I mean our new relationship: keep it a secret? Or have people know about us?" Wanda asked and Jean smiled.

"Unless someone asks, don't tell them." Jean suggested and Wanda agreed as they both knew that their relationship was no one else's business. "But I think we should tell Karolina and Nico. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here talking to you. I would be in class." Wanda nodded then they ran off to tell Karolina and Nico about their new relationship.

Deanoru room:

After class had finished, Nico and Karolina had gone to their room as Nico got a text from Wanda asking to meet them in their room. The walls of their room were wine red with photos of them with their old friends but on either side of bed on the bedside cabinets: they each had a photo of them together when they joined Xavier's school.

"Do you know why Wanda wanted to meet us in our room?" Karolina asked as she was looking in a mirror while changing her style from being down, she was now putting her hair into a ponytail.

"Don't know, she didn't say in the text." Nico told her as she put their books away. The couple were hoping that Wanda was okay and that she and Jean had made up. Karolina was just about to pick up her lipstick when they heard knocking on the door.

"Karolina! Nico! It's me!" Wanda shouted then Nico walked over to the door and opened it, there stood Wanda and Jean. "Can we come in?" Wanda asked and Nico nodded, she stepped to the side then Wanda and Jean walked.

"Please say that you're both here to tell us you're friends again." Karolina begged and Nico nodded. Wanda and Jean looked at each other and smiled then Wanda used her right hand to take hold of Jean's left hand.

"You can say that our bond is stronger than before," Wanda told them, then Karolina and Nico looked at the pair to see them holding hands. "We're together." Wanda told them then she and Jean were jumped by Karolina who was hugging them.

"I only hug Karolina but I can make an exception this time," Nico told them then she joined in the hug. "Congrats you two. I'm guessing you'll be keeping this a secret?" Nico asked as she and Karolina sat on their bed while Wanda sat on a chair and Jean leant against the wall.

"Yeah as we don't think it's anyone else's business about who Wanda or I date," Jean answered and Wanda nodded. "We obviously had to tell you two as you both helped us get to this point." Wanda and Jean then looked at each other and smiled.

"You two remind me of when Nico and I first got together." Karolina told them and it made Nico smile and blush. "I got an idea. What do you lot say we have a girls night out? Night out at a bar and have some fun." Karolina suggested and they all agreed.

"I like that idea. And I know where there's a good bar: opposite Avengers Tower." Wanda told them and the three women nodded. "Until then, I'm gonna to practice using my powers." Wanda told them, she kissed Jean on the cheek then walked off; leaving Jean blushing.

"Jean, you're as red as your hair." Karolina told her but Jean smiled then looked at her friends. "We've never seen you smile like this before." Karolina and Nico got up and looked at how happy Jean was.

"I don't know but I now feel like a different person; more happier and in love." Jean explained to them and it made both Nico and Karolina happy for Jean and Wanda. "I'm gonna go and support Wanda. See you two tonight." Jean smiled and waved as she left their bedroom and went off to catch up with Wanda.

"If we're going out tonight, could you help with my hair dye, Karolina?" Nico asked then Karolina smiled and nodded. "I was thinking about red highlights; try and change a bit at a time." Nico explained as the pair walked into the bathroom to get ready to give Nico highlights in her hair.

This is the end of chapter 3. I know this took a while to do but I wanted to make it perfect. What did you think of the reason between why Wanda's and Jean's hands glowed when they touched? And what was your reaction to when they first kissed, their bodies started glowing?

I hope you've enjoyed the first three chapters on Burning Love. And throughout this amazing fanfic, there will be more amazing things coming. See you all next time.
