A/N: If you noticed, I changed the title of the fic to 'Mafioso Lover' since the previous name seemed long and I just realize that it's more appropriate, sorry for the confusion .

A Place To Belong

"We're here, Kyoko-chan. From now on, this will be your new personal bedroom!" Haru opened the door proudly while Kyoko was slightly anticipating the room which is soon to be her own. Her mouth formed an 'o' as she entered and explored her so called personal bedroom. Across her king-sized canopy bed was a huge tv along with a wardrobe, dressing table, a door that leads to the bathroom and the velvet curtains that flutter with the chilly night wind from the balcony. She sat on the soft bed and looked around in awe. Haru giggled at her expression and proceeded to tidy up the bed.

"E-Even the bed feels so springy and comfortable…" Kyoko muttered in glee.

Haru giggled, happy to hear Kyoko's amusement since she had always lived in a simple home which has just enough furniture to live by. Truthfully, Haru had always been worried that she had to live in such a rundown place with little to no furniture lying around but now her friend look so happy and that's all that matters.

"Hey Haru…." Kyoko started as she lied down and stared up at the ceiling which has carved English pattered to the edge. This place is still too foreign for her no matter how luxurious it seem.

"Yes, Kyoko-chan?" Haru said with a bright smile as she moved around to make sure that everything in her room is in order.

"You know….I've been ignoring this the whole time but…since when were you related to the mafias?" She sat up and faced her friend, wanting answers and yet, worry coated her voice. She should feel lied to and sad that her best friend had kept her in the dark all this time but she felt worry more than anything for the pony-tailed girl as of now.

"H-Huh?" Haru dropped a bed sheet she'd been holding at the sudden question. She turned to look at the other teen who had a questioning look.

"Umm...actually, I've been employed here since the time before I met you Kyoko-chan." Haru confessed with a sheepish grin as she took a seat beside her.

"Then…you're a Mafioso too?" Kyoko's asked out of curiosity.

Haru waved her hands furiously in return.

"N-No way, I can't fight like Tsuna-san and the Vongola guardians...actually, some of them are even busy with missions as we speak. I'm just the maid of the household taking care of their meals and stuff."

Kyoko frowned with concern, she couldn't help but still be worried of her friend.

"Don't worry, Kyoko-chan! I may be the only maid here but Chrome-chan still helps me at times. Well the mansion is huge and Tsuna-san doesn't like having a lot of employees but he'd never make it hard for me.I-I'm sorry I've never told you about it Kyoko-chan…" Haru's voice trailed off, afraid of her friend's reaction for keeping such a secret this whole time.

"It's fine, we've never talked much about each others' lives much anyway so I'm actually happy to know more about you." Kyoko gave her usual heart-warming smile.

Haru wiped the tear forming at the corner of hey eyes.

"Thank you Kyoko-chan…I'm glad you understand."

Kyoko giggled in return as she moved to give her friend a brief, reassuring hug.

"Is there anything else you'd like to ask?" Haru beamed as she return to her normal self.

Kyoko fidgeted with the hem of her skirt, wondering if she should really ask the question that has been bothering her all this time. "Actually…there is…"

"What is it?" Haru tilted her head, curious at her sudden change in attitude.

"That perv—" Kyoko coughed to correct herself. She was still bothered by the fact that he had just tricked her, but it seems that he is not a bad person to Haru.

"I mean, Tsuna-kun….what kind of person is he?…and this might sound crazy but I swore his eyes just changed colour just now."

At first, Kyoko thought that it was just her own eyes playing tricks on her but she was reminded that the same thing happened when he saved her from those thugs.

"Oh, that was probably just his hyper dying will mode." Haru chuckled.

"Hyper…what?"

"You see, Tsuna-san is a direct descendent of Vongola Primo and he inherited the ability to enter what they call the 'hyper dying will mode'. It improves his fighting abilities as well as his hyper intuition which enables him to even sometimes see through lies and predicted people's thoughts based on the slightest action. It really helps a lot since he's a mafia boss now."

Kyoko thought about her explanation and nodded in understanding.

"Wow, Kyoko-chan, you sure are taking this quite easily, aren't you?" Haru said in awe as she couldn't believe that she would just accept all of these things right away.

"Well, I've seen a flame on his forehead and his eyes did change colour. The mafia world is something people don't really delve into so who knows?" Kyoko decided that since he'd seen pretty supernatural stuff from him, she should just try to accept all of this for now. She had a feeling his 'guardians' are more than what they look too…

A sudden thought came into her mind as she remembered about what Haru said.

Wait, so he did that 'hyper' thing before to check if I was lying?

...Why that cheating, perverted—!

Kyoko's thoughts were stopped in its tracks as Haru continued her explanation.

"As for Tsuna-san himself…" A faint smile formed on her lips.

"He gave us a place to belong to….a place we could finally call our 'home'" She scratched the back of her head, feeling embarrassed for calling the mansion her home.

"A place to belong ?" Kyoko's brows burrowed in confusion.

"Yes. Tsuna-san not only accepted us when we had nowhere to go but also placed his trust on us as his comrades. And in time, we came to know and treasure the bonds we had as a 'family'."

"But...I still don't trust him yet." Kyoko whispered as she frowned.

"Don't ever trust a Mafioso. Maybe someone like me...for example."

If he is such a person then why did he warn her not to trust him?

"Why not? He's actually a nice person you know, well…only if you don't piss him off…" Haru shivered at the thought of the countless times she witness the bloodbath and how Chrome and her always sighed at the thought of cleaning up god-knows-whose-corpse next. Well, not really 'corpse', they're still….half alive at least.

Haru snapped off her thoughts and gave a nervous chuckle, "Well he hasn't always been like that. He has changed due to his position as a mafia boss. But he would definitely keep to his words."

"Back then, for a moment he…looked lonely for some reason but he hid it with that fake smile of his. He's hiding something from me….." Kyoko didn't know why but she doesn't like seeing him with that fake smile of his.

Haru gave a weak smile as if not even the least bit surprised by what the other teen said, she stood on the velvet carpet and turned towards her friend.

"Still…maybe someday you'll understand what I mean, Kyoko-chan. You're practically part of the family now so I'm sure you'll come to accept Tsuna-san along with the rest of us soon. "

Kyoko's eyes widened in surprise as she expected her friend to disagree immediately seeing how she respected him a lot, but she never did. In fact, Haru giggled with a cheery grin on her face.

"….I'll try." the orange haired teen whispered with a smile..

"Alright then, we have school tomorrow so you better rest for today. Good night Kyoko-chan!" Haru smiled softly as she headed out.

Kyoko waved at her before the door closes and plopped back to her bed, feeling the soft material of the sheets. She closed her eyes and heaved a long sigh. The image of the young mafia boss with that bright smile flashed through her mind once again. Though to her, she could only see those eyes reflecting pain and longing.

She just met him, but why?

That forced smile...

I hated it...

Kyoko opened her eyes to the warm ray of sunlight streaming into her new bedroom. She stretched her arms and rubbed her tired eyes lightly. She began her morning routine before changing to her Namimori high uniform, brushing the stray locks form her stream of auburn hair and walked down the main stairs towards the kitchen. The teen looked around in admiration as she noticed in closer inspection how elegant the mansion really is. Kyoko turned on the shiny doorknob of the kitchen and was greeted by the delicious smell of breakfast.

"Good morning Kyoko-chan! We're having omelettes today!" Haru beamed and Chrome bowed politely.

"Good morning! And you don't need to be so formal Chrome-chan." Kyoko smiled at the female illusionist and she blushed with a slight nod in return.

"Is there anything I can help with?" Kyoko asked. Haru ponder of the question before a thought popped up in her mind.

"Actually, there is." Haru replied. The orange haired teen was ready to lend a hand in the kitchen but alas, her task was not meant to be as simple.

"Umm…could you help me wake Tsuna-san up? He's in the only room next to yours. Please….?" She clasped her hands together. Kyoko's mouth twitched at her friend's request but she couldn't refuse seeing how busy they were chopping up vegetables and whatnot.

She gave in to Haru's pleading puppy dog eyes and sighed.

"Alright, I'll do it."

The auburn-haired teen left the kitchen and dragged her feet towards the young mafia boss's bedroom.

Right. I'll just come in, wake him up and leave….

Kyoko stopped in her traacks when a thought came to her mind. Out of all the vacant room in the mansion, it just so happen that his room was next to hers while the others are on the third floor?

How suspicious.

Perhaps there would be more than just waking up the mafia boss today. Kyoko thought as she wondered what she should do to get back at the brunet.

"Ah, Kyoko-chan, he's not really a morning person so you should really be careful—oh she's gone."

Haru shrugged and return to her pan of omelette while humming a song.

Kyoko finally arrived and knocked on the hard wood of the double mahogany door. She repeated the same action three times and didn't even hear the slightest response. She carefully twisted the brass handle which was surprisingly not locked. He is a mafia boss but it feels as if he can be clumsy too….

Kyoko peeked in curiously. Kyoko scanned the room and noticed that it was similarly close to hers with the exception of a leather sofa, a few other furniture littering the room and stacks of books and papers placed neatly on the wooden study table. Slowly, she made her way and crouched to the side of the bed. There he was in front of her with the usual unruly chocolate brown hair nestled on the soft pillows, his eyelids closed and his breathing deep and relaxed. Her caramel eyes trailed over the sleeping mafia boss, she noted that he was wearing the same shirt he had the day before, albeit it being messier than before. Glancing at the pile of paper on the desk and paper strewn all over the floor, he must've been working till late at night. Her eyes absentmindedly took his features. His messy hair seemed soft to the tip, eyelashes are long and pretty for a guy, chiseled chin….

A blush crept up to her cheeks as she shook her head back to reality.

I-I should just hurry and wake him up...

"Hey…wake up." She poked his cheek playfully and giggled when he twitched in return.

"Mmm…shut…up." He grabbed her outstretched hand and pulled her without warning. Kyoko fell forward and the next thing she knew, a hand wrapped around her hip securely and her head was nestled on the nook of his neck. The culprit was still sleeping comfortably on his side.

"H-Hey, let go you idiot!" she finally screamed as her face flushed with different shades of red. Tsuna unwillingly opened his sight halfway, his vision still blurred and mind fuzzy from the disturbed sleep.

"Oh…it's only Kyoko…just….give me…five…more…minutes…"

He brought her closer before she could even utter a word and his chocolate browns lazily closed once again.

"I said…" Kyoko took out her free hand, clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. Her reddening cheeks still clearly visible.

"HANDS OFF ME YOU PERVERT!" She punched him straight to the gut. Anyone would think Kyoko is just a frail teen at first sight but with years of working, even if it is merely part-time, she managed to build up some strength. Enough to pack a punch at a sleeping person that is...

"OOF—" The brunet shot up ad cringed while the grasp around her immediately moved to care for his hurting stomach. "Ugh….That hurts…."

"Why do you have to be so rough when waking someone up? I was going to be up soon anyway…" He mumbled as his hands ruffled through his unruly hair.

"You were obviously dozing off again just now!" She pointed to him accusingly.

The brunet pouted in a childlike way.

"I just hate waking up early in the morning, that's all…"

Kyoko watched the young mafia boss and thought for a second, just for a single moment….he looked cute, just like a little puppy. She had to do a mental slap before pushing her stupid thoughts to the back of her mind.

Stop the stupid thoughts Kyoko, this is the mafioso who tricked you!

There must be something wrong with my eyes…

"A-Anyway, Haru-chan told me to wake you up for breakfast and we're heading to school soon." She got off the bed and retreated to the door.

"Oh…do you need Gokudera to send you off with the limo?" He smirked. Smug.

Kyoko rolled her eyes.

Show off.

"I'm fine with walking, thank you." She turned on her way.

He gaze at the spot where she'd been just a second ago and blinked.

"Stubborn as always, huh…" The brunet chuckled.

Extra Corner:

One fine morning, by the doors of the decimo's bedroom….

"Hey…I had my turn a few days ago so who wants to have a go and wake your lazy boss this time?" Kyoko spoke in a hushed tone.

Everyone broke out in cold sweat and shook their heads.

"Ok…" The orange haired teen carefully examined her choice, each of them looking away from Kyoko's gaze. "Yamamoto-kun, go!"

"Ehh? Me?" The rain guardian blinked and pointed to himself.

"You're a nice guy, I'm sure you can do it!" Kyoko cheered.

"Uhh…ok…" The baseball lover did a short breathing exercise before he opened the door cheerily. "Hey, Tsuna! Wanna go play baseball outside?"

There he was, the lazy being with his mop of brown hair nestled on the pillow, the vicious, tired orange eyes that seemed to pierce through him like a dagger while the dark circles around his eyes only made his glare seem more dangerous.

"….It's raining." Tsuna growled as a warning as he refused to leave his territory(the bed).

" …."

Rain Guardian, Status: Defeated.

" ….Chrome-chan?" Kyoko decided to bring out her trump card right away. There's no way Tsuna will get mad at the shy and quiet Chrome!

Surprisingly to the orange haired teen, the female mist guardian nodded obediently when suddenly, she brought out her trident.

" …." Chrome focused and her purple glames lit up on her ring.

"W-Wait, I'll go!" Gokudera smartly intercepted the incoming danger he sensed. He knew that if his boss sees the horrifying illusions first thing in the morning, he might never even wake up anymore.

Mist Guardian, Status: Disqualified.

As the respectable right hand man, Gokudera Hayato, mustered his courage and slammed the door open.

"T-Tenth! Good morning!"

But alas, the beast had bore his fangs once again, the mafia boss's aggressiveness only seemed to heightened at the multiple disturbance.

"I-I APOLOGIZE TENTH!"

Storm Guardian, Status: Free nightmare unlocked.

One by one, the members of the team was taken out by the fearsome grumpy boss of Vongola. The leader of the team had no choice but to seek help from her best friend. Honey brown eyes gazed hesitantly at her friend but was only greeted with a smile instead. Haru shook her head.

It's alright.

I will go.

Kyoko couldn't bear to watch as her friend proudly walk to up to the challenge, knowing what was to come.

"T-Tsuna-san...?" Haru peeked into the room but it was too late, the many failed attempts had angered him even more than before. Death was certain and yet she will not give in.

"What now!?" His eyes were shut, refusing to open them any longer.

"Uhh…I made your favourite salisbury steak with eggs for lunch…." Haru blurted out. There was a moment of silence as the target's eyes suddenly flew open. Could it be?

He has finally taken the bait?

"Steak...?" The mafia boss muttered as he looked at the pony tailed girl, still dazed.

"Y-yeah…" Haru replied hesitantly.

There was a shine in his eyes at her answer and he decided that it was time to rise from his slumber.

"Got it, I'll be down in a sec!" The brunet answered as he stretched.

Haru nodded and closed the door before facing her comrade with a victory grin.

"Well…that was easier than I thought."

The rest could only stayed silent at the events that had occured.

I-It's like handling a little kid!

Haru, Status: Winner!

"Hehe so I guess it's my win?"

The pony tailed teen grinned as she faced the camera and pose a peace sign.

"Reviews are welcome! XD"
