My Tsunayoshi
The orange haired teen stared in awe as she stepped into Namimori's one and only airport. People were bustling around with their luggage, perhaps even just hours away from travelling to different parts of the world. The Vongola guardians each have a simple luggage with them; the guys mostly with sports bag based on their flame colours while Chrome and Kyoko had their own luggage bags. As for Haru…
"You stupid woman!" The storm guardian growled as he dragged two heavy-looking bags and another two on over his shoulder. Haru tilted her head back and raised a brow at him, as if not knowing what his annoyed glare directed at her was meant for.
"What is with all these stupid luggage of yours?! Are they filled with rocks or something, you idiot!?" Gokudera hissed as strings of curses escaped his lips in every language he knew.
"Of course not!" The brown-haired teen said with a 'hmph!' as she crossed her arms together. "They're my costumes, of course!"
An eye twitched as irritation filled the storm guardian, "You mean those stupid, pieces of ugly—"
Haru fumed as she interrupted before he could even continue. The brown haired teen didn't want to hear more remarks against her precious costumes. "Quit whining, tako-head. Geez, a gentleman should carry the lady's things at all times!"
"I don't see and damn 'lady' anywh—!" The right hand man's face was met with another handbag thrown by the angry woman glaring daggers at him. Still, she felt pleased when the right hand man lost his balance and toppled on his back with a loud 'thud!'. Haru ignored his screams in Italian afterwards.
Dark chocolate hues blinked as she turned her head back from the storm guardian and saw her best friend looking around curiously like a child at awe with everything around her. Haru smiled as she approached the restless teen.
"Kyoko-chan, you sure are excited aren't you?" It might not be much for others, but Kyoko couldn't help but to look forward to the fact that she will see a little more of the world outside Namimori. Kyoko felt a shy blush creeping up her cheeks, not knowing that she was so easy to read.
"Well, I am. But there's also the fact that I'm going with all of you...uhm…" Kyoko fiddled with the handle of her bag as she wondered if she should voice out her thoughts. "I-It feels like we're a…family…."
All eyes were fixed on the orange haired teen. Feeling the heat creeping up her cheek from embarrassment, Kyoko was about to correct herself when Haru gave her the tightest bear hug she could ever give to a dear friend.
"Silly Kyoko-chan….you've always been a part of our family!" Haru chirped. Kyoko was about to speak when she felt another arm wrapped around her from her back.
"I-I agree…we're happy that you've chosen to stay." Chrome said earnestly as a bright smile appeared on her lips.
'Well I didn't have much of a choice from the start anyway.' Kyoko thought to herself but couldn't suppress a giggle at the thought that she'd stay even if she was given a choice. Light purple hues landed on the girls and almost immediately, a merry grin appeared on his features.
"Yay! Group hug!~" Byakuran said in a childlike tone as he wanted to join in the hug. The girls could only blink in return as, before they knew it, his hands were wrapped around them. Kyoko stood frozen, Haru let out a surprised yelp while Chrome had a faint blush on her cheek from the sudden contact. However, the marshmallow lover was pulled back just as fast by the hand gripping at the back of his collar with force as if that person wanted him to choke to death, a dynamite close to him ready to blow his head away. The Vongola girls dispersed and each had a shocked expression towards the scene before them. A mist trident was also positioned dangerously close to Byakuran's neck, the owner cackling evilly with more malice than usual. Hibari narrowed his eyes as his tonfa, which almost landed on Byakuran's head, was stopped by none other than...
"I told you guys…" Chocolate browns glowed a dangerous shade of orange as he pulled his hand away from blocking the cloud guardian's weapon. "That none of us will make a scene while we're still in Namimori. "
Hearing his boss's reminder, Gokudera pulled back his weapon and immediately bowed in apology. "I apologize for my brash action, Jyuudaime!"
The half Italian then threw a glance at the stupid woman who returned the gesture with a questioningly look. Why had he almost acted against the tenth's order? Was he just worried about the possibility of the stupid woman getting hurt by being close to the suspicious Millefiore boss?
'Worry…?'
Gokudera shook his head at the thought. As the right-hand man, he should not think about her pointlessly. He needs to focus on the Vongola as well as his job of helping the tenth. Whatever it was he's feeling right now towards Haru…he'll throw it aside.
Meanwhile, the issue of fake identification and passports was handled perfectly by Reborn but their usual antics would no doubt arouse suspicion. If they were somehow sent for questioning by one of the authorities...it just spells trouble even more for Tsuna.
Mostly only because of the paperwork he has to do afterwards though.
"Kufufu…have you forgotten that I do not take orders from you, Sawada Tsunayoshi?" Mukuro smirked and was replied by a glare from the young mafia boss. The mist guardian then sighed as his weapon dissipates into the air. He had actually placed an illusion on the trident, thus the reason why no normal person should not have been able to see it. But Tsuna knew how easy it was for his guardians to destroy the airport and he didn't want to take his chances.
"I wonder…" A creepy laugh escaped his lips as the mist guardian eyed the cloud guardian, his voice dripping with suspicion that both their reasons might be the same. "Why, do you want to kill him too, dear skylark?"
Hibari glance at Chrome who was looking at her ex-master out of worry and caught what the stupid pineapple herbivore meant. Still with his cold expression, he replied bluntly, "Do I ever not want to bite any of you herbivores to death?"
Mukuro twitched an eye while Tsuna just sighed in defeat at the aloof guardian's words."…He has a point, you know."
As if to answer the dame-boss, Reborn jumped and kicked his no-good student's back, making his face land flat on the cold, hard ground.
"You're not supposed to agree with him, dame-Tsuna." The tutor lectured as he flashed a smug grin at the cloud guardian. "A good boss has to be the carnivore."
Cold onyx eyes narrowed at the infant. Though he had never admitted it, Reborn knew that Hibari had regarded him as a carnivore, or omnivore, at the very least. The same goes for Tsuna. At least he's close or already is an omnivore at some point.
"Anyways, we'll be late on schedule at this rate." The arcobaleno said as he stepped on the young mafioso's back and sat on his head, grinning evilly at the hand that winced with every of his step and the strings of profanities going through in his mind.
"Oh? So you've even learnt how to curse in Spanish now, dame-Tsuna?" Reborn said with that smug grin of his which Tsuna would be all too happy to wipe off (but sadly couldn't) still present on his childlike features.
The young mafioso got on his feet, slowly, he took a deep breath in and out, trying his best not to explode at the evil tutor's usual antic. A smile graced the teen's features as he uttered sarcastically between gritted teeth, "…I'm trying to be creative here, Reborn."
Tsuna sighed as he said out just loud enough for his family and the other mafia boss to hear. "Let's move, guys."
The young mafia boss felt a hand brushed over the material at the back of his coat. He looked back, chocolate brown eyes meeting surprised honey brown hues, as if not prepared for the sudden butterflies in the pit of her stomach.
"T-There's dusty footprints from Reborn-chan's shoes." She muttered under her breath. His gaze lingered on her for a second before a smile spread over his lips. He took her soft hand in his and proceeded on his way, ignoring her complaints and struggles to get out of his grasp.
"We're going to be a couple soon. Don't tell me you're not even prepared for this." Tsuna stated as he held up their hand. Kyoko opened her mouth but closed it almost immediately while the young mafioso still had that gleeful expression on his face. She wanted to fully repay back her debt, and that means doing her job perfectly.
"Of course I am." She gave his hand a light squeeze and set a determined expression as she look up at him. "We're going to be the most unbreakable couple they'd ever see!...Then you'll be free from those suitors of yours."
A chuckle escaped his lips, he didn't think she'd be so serious about her role. The rest of their conversation went on about Tsuna asking her about her training and Italian lessons while the others were chatting with each other too. Kyoko's Italian had been fairly well taught by Gokudera and she could speak quite fluently, not perfectly, but still good. Somehow, Bianchi who'd come by to visit Reborn, Chrome, Haru and her dear brother(who fainted on the spot, by the way) had also helped her to figure out what to do with her role as a mafia boss's lover which she apparently refused to let him in on the details for some reason. Lastly, the sun guardian had also taught her about some tips on self-defense, the simple ones though since they had limited time.
Meanwhile, the brunette looked relieved as they'd managed to successfully pass through the security checks and whatnot. Then, it finally came into his line of sight, one of Vongola's proud private jet just a hallway away—
"Hold it." A middle-aged woman stopped the orange haired teen and the mafia boss on their track.
Tsuna swallowed back a curse as he put on his sweetest smile at the officer. "Yes, officer?"
The woman had suspicion written all over her faces just like the other officers they've overcome. She eyed the infant on the brunette's head. "A child like him needs to have an adult with him to ride a plane."
Tsuna then felt like he was stuck between laughing uncontrollably for the fact that she treated the Spartan tutor as a child or to jump out of the window due to the murderous silence from the arcobaleno.
Kyoko shifted in her place as she tried to find a decent and believable excuse. "Umm…A-Actually, we are—"
"Ma'am", Tsuna addressed politely, silence ensuing as the officer quirked a brow in return. He then continued in a hushed tone. "We're actually… a runaway couple."
Kyoko gawked, her jaws dropped and utterly dumbfounded at the mafia boss's stupid excuse. She could hear Chrome and Haru's giggling at the brunette's sudden confession and once again, Kyoko wanted nothing more than to bury her head on her pillow and scream her lungs out. A nudge against her shoulder from the brunette and Kyoko had somehow managed to splutter out her words, adding up to the young mafia boss's lie.
"W-We want to start anew with our little boy here so you can rest assure, you s-see…" All eyes landed on the younger Sasagawa who looked almost pitiful. Almost. Since apparently, the marshmallow and pineapple duo were stifling laughs at the comedic turn of event. The officer eyed Kyoko whose eyes were darting at anywhere but hers, the award-winning smile from the brunette before switching to the little infant with his fedora covering his onyx hues. Surprisingly, the strict woman seemed to do a 180 degree turn of her personality as a wide grin spread over her lips.
"Oh, that's what I thought!" She clasped her hands together and gaze at the little infant fondly. "Maa…he looks just like his daddy!"
Tsuna paled, eyes twitching , the corner of his lips twisting to form a wry smile.
What? Where? HOW THE—?!
'Pfft—Daddy, she said…' Reborn twitched as he could hear one of the guardian's thought, bloodlust emitting from the little form with fedora.
'She just called Tsuna his daddy…'
'Ah, how adorable…. Bossu and Reborn-san.'
'EXTREME!'
'Kufufu…what a lovely family.'
'Hn. I'll bite this woman to death if this takes a minute longer.'
'HAHAHA, Tsunayoshi-kun is your D.A.D.D.Y!~'
The sadistic tutor slowly reached for Leon hiding in his pocket. The reptile immediately morphed into a gun that fits perfectly with his miniature hand. The Vongola decimo watched in utter horror, his face screaming bloody murder as the barrel of the gun was pointed at the oblivious officer who assumed that it was a toy gun of course.
Tch. He knew he'd always hate the cops.
No one dared to move, all stifled laughs were silence by the presence of the gun they knew all too well was real and could as well match a mass murder weapon in the hands of the greatest hitman.
"R-Reborn, j-just breathe in a-and calm down…" The dame-student muttered, fear gripping him for his dear life.
The officer tilted her head, wondering why the child is so silent and the father seemed to be scared of him. The 'mother', however, seemed like she wanted to attempt suicide as soon as all of this is over.
'What a weir—unique family…'
"Does he want his mummy instead?"
The gun clicked, and just as Tsuna was about to start calling people to prepare a funeral, Reborn tapped on his fedora, revealing cute, beads of onyx hues and a childlike smile on his face.
"…Bang." He muttered, making sure to keep his murderous intent hidden, just as any professional hitman would.
"Aww, he's such a cutie!" The woman cooed, not noticing the brunette who looked like he was about to faint. Reborn flashed an angelic and all too innocent smile as he whispered, his voice dripping with venom in contrast with his expression. "You're not getting out of this alive, dame-Tsuna…"
The brunette shivered, a lump stuck in his throat as he couldn't breathe, at least, not while the greatest hitman was sitting on his head casually. Suddenly, he didn't feel so well…
"Don't even think about running away." Reborn hissed in a low tone before he tapped his gun at his student's head. "Now move, before I shoot your empty, idiotic, wimpy, stupid, dumb, and utterly dame head away to a million bloody pieces."
For the first time in a while, Tsuna felt like dying. His thoughts already wandering to the mountains of paperwork he's going to be forced to sign and various meetings that he must attend in Italy.
Oh, the joy of having a sadistic tutor.
Soon they entered the private jet, relief washed over the Vongola family as no blood was shed unnecessarily during the whole nerve-wrecking ordeal they had just gone through. As the curious teen entered, she could already feel the luxury and wealth radiating off from practically everything in the jet. The leathered seats promising high-class comfort, velvet carpet with the proud vongola insignia, a large, flat-screen television and many other things she assumed were worth more than her whole life savings decorating the interior of the plane.
The seats were arranged in columns of four, two on each side separated by the aisle. The sadistic tutor stepped down and sat on the extreme right of the first row followed by Tsuna, second from the left just beside the window seat which he was currently tapping on with a bright smile directed at the orange haired Sasagawa.
"Kyoko, either you sit on this cold, hard leather couch or here—" He said, elbow propped on his armrest while the other hand tapped on his lap. "—safe and assured-warmth for the rest of your journey."
Now why isn't she surprised in the slightest…?
He beamed, and Kyoko swore then that she saw sparkles floating around him from god-knows-where. It was a mafioso effect, she presumed.
"….No, thank you. I'm fine with the normal seat." Kyoko answered smoothly before walking briskly to her seat and watched the still scenery out of her window. Tsuna blinked and as if on cue, a hand tapped his shoulder with all effort to comfort him for some reason.
"Tsunayoshi-kun, don't be too depressed okay? It's only rejection." Byakuran emphasized as he sang every syllables in that accursed word that pierced the brunette like a thousand knives. The young Vongola twitched, fighting the urge to throw the stupid marshmallow lover out even though the flight hadn't even started.
The guardians settled on their seat and on the second column were, Hibari, Chrome, Gokudera and Haru while the last row…
"Kufufu…I object to this seating plan." The mist illusionist spoke bluntly as Yamamoto who was sitting with Lambo blinked and wondered why his fellow guardian was glaring daggers at Hibari.
Why is that damn skylark sitting beside Nagi out of all people…just because she's a little friendly with him while he was stuck with this…this…
"EXTREME!" Ryohei roared as he pumped his fist high up to the ceilings.
Exactly. This loud, obnoxious and overly-spirited sun guardian whom he obviously couldn't get along with and could also be the source of possible harms to his eardrums soon.
"I object to this crowding." Another cold, clearly annoyed voice spoke as the eternal scowl was back on his features. Just then, a smirk crept up the arcobaleno's lips, as if he had anything to do with the aloof guardian's mere presence in this crowded place in the first place.
"No one is to object to anything. We're in a plane, not court for god's sake." Tsuna groaned at his guardian's antics and sighed. Every time his guardians were all present in one room, the stress just comes back to him.
Why couldn't they ever have a moment of peace?

The plane was finally steady, high up in the air and already a few feet away from land. Bored as they are, the girls took out the sweets that they bought together the day before. As Chrome opened the cover of her handmade chocolate, she offered them to the rest of her friends who thanked her in return. The pineapple headed illusionist was, however, an exception as he watched her ate the last piece by herself. He couldn't say he was unaffected by his Chrome who had changed all of a sudden, purple locks now flowing down to her waist. He kind of missed her previous hairstyle…
Chrome noticed the bored skylark, his eyes shut but not napping either. Out of politeness she offered him a piece from a new, smaller box, unaware of the mis-matched eyes watching the friendly gesture as she asked whether he wanted to have a taste.
"Herbivore, I do not take swe—" The cloud guardian replied, but was interrupted by her words, daringly even, he might add.
"I know. Hibari-san doesn't like sweet food…that's why it's dark chocolate!" Chrome beamed as she held up the tray of chocolate happily. The cloud guardian cracked an eye and was greeted by the mist guardian, still expecting an answer from him and a thought came to his mind. He wondered why the little one, Hibird, was attached to her and frequently visits her for her handmade sweets. Sharp onyx hues eyed the dark chocolate and then back to the purple-haired illusionist.
"H-Huh?" Chrome noticed his gaze lingering on her hand. "You want me to…?"
Wordlessly, he expected her to understand even without him speaking. He watched her, the woman whom even Hibird was fond of, and somehow, he couldn't find any reason to bite her to death for. Raven eyes captured the mist illusionist's movement, the way she shifted shyly, contemplating on whether she should do what she'd figured out was the reason he kept silent to her offer. She is still a weak prey, but unlike the others, Chrome Dokuro is a more tolerable herbivore, he concluded.
Finally, she took a piece and tried to convince herself. 'This will be just like feeding Hibird-chan!'
The seemingly bored Kyoya opened his mouth slightly, accepting the chocolate that melted nicely with a bittersweet taste. A light shade of red tinted her cheeks as she retracted her hand and waited anxiously for him to chew.
"Is it…good?" She asked meekly, curiously wondering about the cloud guardian himself. He was cold at first glance and someone her ex-master despised so she'd avoided him. But now that she was independent and no longer following her master, she was determined to get along with her family, and she meant every one of them.
"Hn." He simply answered and a bright smile spread over her lips, feeling accomplished for being able to make decent chocolates for every of her friends and family. She'd note down all their favourite types of chocolate since she'd taken making them as a hobby. Haru loves chocolate chip cookies, her bossu prefers caramels, Yamamoto likes milk chocolate and—
'Kufufu…it seems that you've gotten closer to the skylark.' An all-too-familiar voice spoke at the back of her mind, breaking her off from her thoughts. Violet eyes narrowed and she bit her lips, still refusing to even spare a glance at him, the person who encouraged her to try out making those chocolates. She'd remembered the first time she made chocolates, a simple one she'd made with Haru just for the fun of it during her time off. He'd eaten it when she shyly offered, and he'd patted her head lovingly.
Before she knew it, that simple yet gentle touch became her reason to make these sweets she'd come to love.
'What is the meaning of this, Nagi?' It was said in a tone of impatience and the fact seemed to make her feel determined to remind him of his own mistake. She wasn't his anymore. Chrome Dokuro is no longer just a tool at his disposal—she is a woman of her own. Chrome steeled her mind, determined on not letting her thoughts slipped out to her ex-master through their shared connection.
'I just want to get along well with my family.' She answered short and simple, wanting to kill the conversation as soon as possible. The male illusionist didn't reply. After all, this was what he wanted, wasn't it? For her to attain her own happiness and get along with the family she love.
Why then, is he feeling…lonely?
The pineapple-headed illusionist didn't want to admit it, but these few days were dull without her following him around, amusing him with her blushes and smiles. Even now, as they sat in silence, the distance between them irked him to no end. It used to be the two of them together, facing the mafia world, the path they both chose to thread.
Now it was just him alone.
Mis-matched orbs trailed to the purple-haired illusionist and before he knew it, a single word slipped past his mind. His voice was laced with longing, an emotion he never knew he had.
'…Nagi…'
Chrome gripped on the hem of her skirt. He was the one who'd forced her to take up her freedom. He…was the one who pushed her away first.
It was cruel of him to want her back now that he'd lost her.
'…Please refrain from making unnecessary communications like this. I no longer need to follow your orders.' She had surprised herself, her words came with a tinge of coldness but she didn't regret it.
With that, the connection was cut.
The orange haired teen munch on her pocky quietly, glancing at the brunette who had his eyes close but somehow doesn't even seem to make any effort to rest judging from his rigid posture as he sat straight, unmoving. She noticed the darker shade of his complexion under his eyes and frowned. Something tells her that the reason he'd been spacing out and the fatigue eating at him was not only because of the paperwork dumped on his by his tutor recently.
"Kyoko-chan." Kyoko blinked and tilted her head as she heard the Gesso-boss's call. He had a merry grin as he held up a marshmallow almost teasingly, swaying it back and forth as if she'd be lured. "Want some sweets?"
"…Tch." Both sweet lovers averted their gaze to the brunette who shifted. A moment passed, but the Vongola boss didn't utter a word like they'd expected.
Kyoko shook her head. "Someone ever told me...don't take sweets from a marshmallow loving mafioso..."
"Oh? Who was that?" The Italian boss chuckled as he popped one of his favourite sweets in his mouth.
She bits on her pocky calmly and shrugged. "Me."
"Aww, you're breaking my little, fragile heart, Kyoko-chan..." Byakuran pouted childishly, noticing the brunette who was now watching him from the corner of his eyes at the statement.
"You have a heart?" Tsuna said with a raised brow, a deadpanned expression on his face.
"I'd believe it more if he's made from those stupid marshmallows." Gokudera scowled, making sure he was loud enough to be heard by the idiotic marshmallow lover.
"How rude, Goku-chan." The storm guardian felt a nerve snapping at the nickname but Byakuran continued in an almost dreamy tone, as if he was telling a sweet fairytale. "Of course, I'm made from sugar….spice…everything nice—"
"—AND EXTREME CHEMICAL X!" Ryohei pumped his fist in the air almost too energetically.
No one could utter a word as all eyes were on the sun guardian and the marshmallow loving freak who was laughing his lungs out while also putting up a thumbs-up at the sun guardian.
Kyoko had a palm slapped over her face. "My brother thinks that it's manly and extreme only because they always punched and kicked the bad guys…"
As his sister, she felt the need to save the boxer's reputations before it crumbled to nothingness.
"I guess…" Haru added awkwardly as she scratched her cheek and turned away. "It was kind of a violent and adorable show at the same time…."
Hearing the chuckles and light laughter by his family, Tsuna felt somewhat relaxed, as if his worries were washed away for a moment. It would take hours before they reach Italy…perhaps he should really succumb to the sleep he so much needed for now…
It was supposed to be a normal Saturday in the main house, or at least, as normal as it could be for kids in the Vongola estate. Tsuna hated Saturdays. The adults always chased the kids out to train in hope that one day, they would be good enough to serve the Vongola famiglia. Usually, the Spartan tutor would accompany the brunette and help him train, but not this time. Reborn was on a mission, and it's been almost a week since he'd been gone. Tsuna crossed his legs to his chest, glancing at the other kids who were either doing practices with their flames or do some agile training which Tsuna knew he couldn't do no matter how much( and how long) he trained.
Tsuna didn't even want to be there.
If only…his okaa-san is still alive….
"Look! It's that loser who can't even use his flames." One of the older boys laughed mockingly as he pointed to the brunette sitting in the far corner of the garden. Tsuna flinched and could only look down to his feet as he held his legs closer to him. His hands unconsciously gripping on the blue charm in his hands as the boys stepped closer and closer to him.
Honestly, Tsuna didn't know whether he was really flameless.
Reborn said that he just hadn't found his resolve yet.
What did he want power for? He didn't know.
"Oi, I'm talking to you. Or are you deaf too?" He heard a boy spat those words with disgust and Tsuna could sense that he was surrounded, but he still didn't reply. This seemed to irk one of them and before he knew it, Tsuna's hand was jerked away roughly, the charm falling to the ground.
It hurts.
But he needed to get his charm back; the first gift he'd ever gotten from a friend.
Tsuna tried to pull his hands away but the older boy only laughed harder at his futile attempts. He was stronger than the powerless brunette.
"L-Let g-go!" Tsuna finally screamed and the bully only smirked.
"What're you going to do? Tell on me to you otou-san? Oh wait…" He sneered as Tsuna bites his bottom lip and only continued to struggle, thrashing, anything to get these people away from him.
No. Don't say it.
He already knew that—
"…He doesn't even care about you." A lump was stuck in his throat as he realized his father was never there to protect him from those bullies. He was hopeless without Reborn, and God, these people just have to make his life harder for him.
He was aware of it all; the giggles and mocking laughs from the kids surrounding him, the ignorant glances from the others while the rest just simply didn't care.
He should be used to it, but he wasn't.
His chocolate brown eyes met with an adult Vongola instructor's, but he was nothing like Reborn.
"Cursed child..." The man murmured, probably annoyed with Tsuna because he is a student of Reborn's and everyone knows that there's countless of Mafiosos who're envious of his title. That wasn't all though. It wasn't his fault, really, that an old guy named Talbot said that he had great potential and a flame with high purity when he first came here.
"That boy…" Talbot rasped as he faced the little brunette who was looking up at the old craftsman. He wore a dark overall and the years he'd spent evaluating many Mafioso was obvious from the wrinkles on his face. "…will change the Vongola."
Tsuna didn't believe him though. He was weak. But for some reason, the news of Talbot's words about the brunette seemed to spread like wildfire in the Vongola estate. The adults around him seemed to believe that he will pose as a threat to the famiglia when he grows up.
'Perhaps, one day he would overthrow the current boss'...was what they would always say about him.
Tsuna was broken off from his daze as he felt pain against stomach. The next thing he knew, his small frame was down on the ground. Something was thrown at him. Was it a rock? He didn't know. But the pain didn't stop just there as soon, his clothes were tattered from the dirt on the ground. And those instructors, the adults who would usually scold them for resting even for a minute during their training, chose to stay silent and ignorant as the kids surrounded him.
His little hands reached for the charm, holding it close to him as if it was the only thing that mattered in the world. He curled into a ball and refused to cry even though he was kicked or hurt.
The rest…was nothing but a blur of painful memory.
Honey shade eyes gaze at the wide and endless sky from her window seat. The sky was painted orange, a warm colour with shades of light crimson that only made it look even more beautiful than it always has. The orange haired teen never thought that she will ever be able to see such a scenery given she was too busy with her unreasonable debt. The flight to Italy took around twelve long hours and Kyoko couldn't help but feel anxious. One moment, she was a normal girl barely scraping through every day with her part-time money and the next thing she knew, she was flying in a luxurious jet to the heart of the mafia world.
Oddly, she didn't regret meeting the Vongola family at all. They treated her as part of the family and as friends. It's nice to have people to have meals with everyday instead of the ones she'd always have alone, a lively home to live in comparison to her quiet apartment, someone to talk to when she's having a problem….and the warmth to chase her nightmares away that night…
Kyoko paused.
Her fingers rested on the bridge of her nose.
There….is something really wrong with her isn't there?
The orange haired teen was broken off from her thoughts when she felt the figure seated beside her shifting uncomfortably, light mumbles escaping his lips. She glanced to her side, the source of her problem still had his eyelids closed but his brows were furrowed. His hands were gripping on the armrest, tense and refusing to loosen.
Kyoko knew what that meant.
He was having a nightmare.
She frowned, he always looked strong but perhaps, he has his own fears just like she did.
"Tsuna-kun…wake up!" Kyoko called in a hushed tone since everyone else were already fast asleep but it didn't seem to affect him. If only, she sensed that his dream was getting even drearier. Think, Kyoko, think!
What could she do now?
What…did he always do for her?
Warmth. Perhaps, that's what he needed.
She stood up abruptly and looked around for a cabinet. There was one at the far corner and she opened it before taking out one blue coloured blanket with her, rushing to bring it back to the brunette. She carefully placed it over him, noticing how cold sweat was forming on his forehead, and figured that the blanket didn't really cut it. Kyoko sat back on her seat, she eyed his hand close to hers and with not a second of hesitation…
She curled her hand around his and leaned herself towards him, hoping to transfer some of the heat to him and assure him that she was there for him.
"…I'm here… don't be scared anymore, Tsuna-kun….please…" Kyoko whispered as she shut her eyes and held his hand tighter.
Please work…
After a moment, the hold around her hand seemed to accept the gesture as it curled back around hers. His breath was steadied and the mumbles were gone. Kyoko sighed in relief.
…Now to escape this overly embarrassing position.
She tried to tug her hand away but alas, she failed.
"Tsuna-kun." She tugged her hand again, but all she got in return was a disapproving, tighter hold around her own. An eye twitched as she fought the urge to scream. "You're alright now so let go!"
…And his reply?
Kyoko felt a weight on top of her shoulder and suddenly, she was very much aware of how close they were with him breathing against her neck. She shivered, the fluttering feeling in the pits of her stomach getting worse at each second. After all she'd done, he was still messing with her in his sleep.
She hates him, really.
Kyoko tilted her head, he looks so peaceful…
She didn't know that sleepiness could be contagious, but Kyoko felt her eyes slowly fluttering close.
She wondered what he was dreaming about this time.
A small, hooded figure stepped into the park. It was, one could say, his sanctuary. This simple and quiet park was the only place where he could escape from reality. A soft smile almost made its way to his bruised lips.
Almost.
Tsuna sluggishly walked across the park, and struggled to climb up the seat. The bruise on his leg still hurts, it seems. It's been a few hours since those bullies left him alone and after that, he didn't even care if he hadn't patch up his wounds. Sure the bruise hiding under his clothes hurts, and the little cut on his forehead only stopped bleeding after he wiped the wound with his sleeves carelessly, but he didn't really care.
The little brunette buried his face to his knees, making himself as small as possible. It was a habit he'd do when he didn't know what to do or how to face the things that happened to him.
He hated this, but he couldn't do anything to change it either.
"Kyoko-chan…where are you….?" He muttered, feeling his eyes starting to sting, tears threatening to form. "I want to see you…"
Then, as if on cue, a familiar, sweet voice called. "Tsu-kun?"
Tsuna jerked his head up, only to meet with those warm orange hues that he missed so much. "K-Kyoko-chan!"
His dull chocolate brown eyes lightened up as soon as he saw her.
He stepped down from the bench and couldn't contain the smile creeping up his lips, the tears were still threatening to fall but this time, it was from pure relief and happiness.
Kyoko was prepared to flash one of her smiles, but her eyes widened slightly as he wiped the corners of his coffee coloured eyes.
"Tsu-kun! What…what happened to you?!" Kyoko said in a tone of pure worry and horror as she gently cupped his cheeks and tilted it up to get a better view. Tsuna couldn't help the heat creeping up his cheeks.
"Eh..t-this…umm…" He couldn't say that he 'tripped' anymore but the brunette was hesitant to answer her. The young Sasagawa seemed to notice this as she took one of his hands, surprising the boy.
"K-Kyoko-chan? W-Where are we going?" Tsuna squeaked as he was pulled by her towards the exit of the park.
"My home!" Kyoko answered happily. The squirming brunette was about to refuse her timidly, not wanting to cause any trouble, but he was cut short by the orange head.
"We have to get your wounds treated first…okay?" The orange head said, her voice laced with gentleness. Even though she was smiling as usual, he could sense she understands as she didn't ask for the cause of his wounds and reluctance.
Tsuna could only nod his head.

Tsuna sat timidly on the edge of a little bed as she waited for his crush to return from fetching the first aid kit. He was thankful that her parents were away, lest he'd be too shy to even introduce himself. The brunette had passed by their living room and noticed that it was nearly empty, with the exception of a few furnitures. He frowned.
Could it be because of their debt?
Light brown eyes immediately fell to the ground as he heard her steps along the hallway. She fumbled with a little wet towel, first aid kit and other medical stuff she could get her hands on. Tsuna was about to offer to help but she gave him a look to stay, she could handle as much.
"Tsu-kun, sit still okay?" The orange haired girl said sternly as she packed out some alcohol and bandages from the box. Tsuna complied but he found it hard not to blush as she patted the dust away from his hair and clothes and used the warm towel to wipe his face and the bruises gently. She then proceeded to clean his wounds which surprisingly, didn't sting as much. She must've been really careful, he noted.
"K-Kyoko-chan, you're getting better at this aren't you?" Tsuna said as she was bandaging his little arms as neatly as she could.
"Well, I asked my okaa-san on how to do a little first aid." Kyoko said as she finished up on one arm.
"Huh? But you're not clumsy and you don't trip around much so—" Tsuna stopped himself as he saw the edge of her lips curving down slightly. She didn't utter a word.
"It's for….me…?" Silence reigned in the room as those words trailed off from his mouth. Kyoko shifted in her place.
"At first, I was hoping that you won't get hurt as badly again but…" Her voice faltered halfway. "I-I'm sorry, Tsu-kun, I just can't take seeing you getting hurt."
"You don't deserve any of this..." Kyoko sniffed as she fought the urge to let her worries show. Tsuna was rendered speechless. His crush was tearing up, and not just for anyone.
She was crying for him.
How long has it been since someone had cared so much?
The orange haired girl quickly wiped her tears away with her sleeves and tried her best to give him her most reassuring smile. "But that's why I will do my best to heal your wounds, ne?"
Tsuna couldn't say it.
That he didn't even fought back.
"The people back h-home didn't like me much…" The brunette suddenly confessed. He felt a sick feeling in his gut as the word 'home' slipped from his tongue. In truth, it was nothing like a home to him and it never will.
"Huh? Why wouldn't they?" The clueless young Sasagawa asked but the brunette seemed hesitant in sharing more with her as he turned his head away and bit his lip.
So she smiled instead and spoke proudly in her sincerest tone. "You're the same Tsu-kun but I like you a lot!"
"Y-Y-You d-do?" Tsuna seemed surprised, and Kyoko wondered why such a nice boy would be considering he could make lots of nice friends, or so she thought if he was but a normal boy.
"E-Even though I'm a l-loser? Even when I get bullied? When I'm w-weak…?" The little brunette choked but to his surprise, a warm smile formed on her lips.
"I don't care what others think because, Tsu-kun, I only know that I really like you no matter what!" It was a simple answer but his heart seemed to flutter more than it already did. Tsuna parted his lips to reply, but could find no words to squeak out as he pulled down on his hoodie, attempting to hide his flushing cheeks. Perhaps, she might've meant all she said as a friend, but to Tsuna…
"I…I like you too…Kyoko-chan." The words escaped his lips like he'd never whispered anything so true in his life. Kyoko blinked as she couldn't catch his whispers.
The young Sasagawa stopped wounding up the bandages around his other arm and tilted her head at him, "Hm? What did you say, Tsu-kun?"
Light brown eyes snapped up at her face, seeing her with her face so close to him and a heart-warming smile on her cute features.
He almost forgot how to breathe.
"N-N-Nothing!" The love struck brunette shook his head vigorously, he was sure that his face was as ripe as a tomato right then. Kyoko blinked but decided to pass it as one of his shy antics.
"But Tsu-kun, you looked…pretty bad before I came." Tsuna raised a brow at her words, urging her to continue as she hesitated to voice out her thought. "It was almost like the day when I first met you..."
He remembered, the day she saved him.
"Ah…it's that bad, huh?" The young mafioso said as he scratched his cheek sheepishly. "S-Sorry for worrying you, Kyoko-chan."
She merely looked at him in understanding before sitting down next to him. Kyoko proceeded to stick a little plaster on the brunette's face, just above his brow. Tsuna blinked, while Kyoko giggled as she held up a similar one in her hand.
"It reminds me of you!" She chirped as she held out a light blue plaster with a darker, tuna shape on the centre.
"Tsuna-Tsu-Tuna-kun!" Kyoko sang with a cheery giggle following afterwards. Tsuna blinked and before he knew it, pink painted his cheeks. Now he knew why the charm she made has a tuna shape too. Tsuna perked up as he suddenly remember about the charm. Now that he thought of it…should he ask her to sew it back? It was a little torn and tattered…
So lost in thoughts was the brunette that he didn't notice his crush moving in closer, candy irises twinkling with a mischievous glint.
"Tsu-kun." She called innocently and Tsuna snapped his head at the voice of his crush. "Hmn?—"
The little brunette almost squeaked as she suddenly tackled him, his back meeting with the soft mattress. She loosened her hold around him and stared down at him, a playful grin on her lips.
Tsuna blushed as he stuttered. "K-Kyoko, w-what are you—Pfft!"
The girl with orange locks immediately started to attack his sides and started tickling him. The brunette squeaked, he didn't know what to do since he'd never been tickled before b-but…
"Hahahaha! K-Kyoko, w-wait, I can't stop—haha—l-laughing!" The young mafioso pleaded as he wrapped his little arms around his stomach but to no avail as his crush still managed to make him turn and roll around, laughing his lungs out. As tears started to form on the corner of his eyes, Kyoko finally let her victim free.
"K-Kyoko-chan! W-What was that for?" Tsuna asked as he sat up, confused at his crush's sudden action. Though he must admit, it was kind of fun…
A gleeful smile spread over her face as she giggled at her friend who pouted but still had a small smile playing on the edge of his lips. "I made you laugh…because you looked so glum and sad, Tsu-kun!"
Tsuna blinked and opened his mouth to speak, but shut it immediately as the redness dusts over his cheeks. His light brown orbs fell to his lap shyly. However, he could hear her giggle again at his shy reaction and he glance up at her…wondering…
Maybe he should have his little revenge?
Kyoko finally stopped giggling as she noticed that her friend was really quiet all of a sudden, his bangs covering his clear shades of chocolate browns.
"T-Tsu-kun?" The orange head asked worriedly as she crawled closer to him, brows furrowed. She tilted her head to check on his expression…
Slowly…
Honey brown eyes widened. She never thought she'd ever seen this kind of expression from the brunette.
A smirk played on his lips as his eyes flashed a hint of playfulness.
"Kyoko-chan…" His smile grew wider as he raised his hands. Kyoko seemed to snap out of her trance as she instinctively tried to back off but alas, she was too late.
It was a trap.
Kyoko squeaked as the brunette was suddenly hovering over her and was about to repeat what she had done to him before. Tsuna blinked as she puffed her cheeks, not letting a breath escape her mouth as she squirmed, already trying to escape even though he hadn't moved yet.
'Eh? Is she…scared?' Curiously, his fingers travelled to her side as he tried to copy the gestures she did previously.
The orange head failed to prevent her laugh almost immediately as she was desperately attempt to wiggle out of his reach, "T-Tsu-kun!"
"I want to make you laugh too." The young mafioso chuckled with a bright grin on his face, feeling happy inwardly as he knew yet another thing about his crush, or more like, her weakness in a sense.
"T-Tsu-kun! I-I'm really t-ticklish! S-Stop!" Kyoko said in between her laughs. Seeing redness painting her cheeks, he knew she was in desperate need for air and stopped his tickling. After catching a few breath of much needed air, Kyoko snapped her head up at him.
"Tsu-kun..." The brunette found himself unable to suppress the giggle escaping his lips at her attempt glare. Kyoko crossed her arms over her chest and gave a 'hmph!' as she pouted. Tsuna's laughing died off at that as he stared at the sulking girl.
"Alright, alright, I might've gone too far. But still…" A genuine smile stretched over his little lips, these moments whence he could grin from the bottom of his heart…
"I'm not going to apologize for making you laugh!"
He'd make sure to treasure it forever.
Pools of chocolate brown fluttered open as he slowly scanned around him. It was dark and cold with only dim lights decorating his surroundings. He picked up several light breathing and even snores in the plane. The brunette shifted but stilled the next second as he glanced down at the blanket draped over him and then beside him—
….Ahh, so that's why he had such a nice dream.
Eyes half lidded, still overcome by his disturbed sleep, Tsuna unthinkingly allowed the back of his hand brushed with the smooth skin of her cheeks.
'Soft', just like the hand intertwined with his. His gaze landed on her features and a thought came to his mind.
He wondered if she will ever love him…as much as he loved her.
He hoped she never would.
Because then, she'd know how painful it is and how selfish one can be when they're in love.
He knew that she was starting to become aware of him. Not specifically 'liking' him, but still, it didn't help himself from taking advantage of the fact as he untwined their hand, carefully scooping her up and placed the sleeping teen on his lap with ease, nestling her head on the crook of his neck. Tsuna sighed as he pulled the blanket over the both of them.
Honestly, he should stop being so greedy. It should've been enough with her by his side, smiling, comforting him and cheering him on. It should have. He pulled her closer to him, sweet, vanilla scent filling his lungs as he recollected a certain memory.
"Tsu-kun, I'm sure that one day…you can stand up to them. I believe in you!" The orange haired girl said sincerely as she bid him goodbye that evening.
"Hey, Kyoko-chan…." Tsuna muttered as he felt the edge of his lips curving into a gentle smile at the way he called her as he did ten years ago. "I've…gotten a little stronger now…."
So will you stay by my side…?
Click!
"H-Haru-chan, you had it on flash mode! What if they wake up…!"
Kyoko stirred as she heard the shy illusionist's panicked but hushed voice. The first thing that registered to her was the familiar scent and the warmth wrapping around her. Somehow, her head felt heavy, like there was something buried on her orange locks.
Snap! Snap! Snap!
"Oh my god, they look so cute together!" Her best friend's squeals echoed in her ears. Light brown eyes fluttered open slightly and she caught sight of Haru who was holding a camera and Chrome with a light blush on her cheeks. Across from where she is, where the refreshments table was, was Gokudera who scowled and told them to leave the tenth alone, Yamamoto with his happy go lucky laugh as he held a glass of milk, Byakuran's giggle as he ate his marshmallow sandwich, Ryohei gagged and tied at the corner thrashing around as he looked at his sister in horror, Lambo who was stuffing his face with breakfast, Hibari and Mukuro who couldn't care less while drinking their coffee and Reborn…smirking as he was already holding a copy of his blackmail material while drinking a cup of espresso. Seeing sleepy caramel eyes wandering about, Chrome froze and tapped the brown haired girl's shoulder before pointing to the younger Sasagawa.
"No! Y-You're in a dream…this is just…a dream..!" Haru said as she tried to imitate the hypnotist she'd seen on television. The brown haired teen cheered inwardly as Kyoko closed her eyes and snuggled closer to the brunette, seemingly convinced.
"Hmn…" The young mafioso whined in his sleep and that was when the two girls decided to make a run for it, retreating and pretending as if they were enjoying their breakfast innocently though eyes still glancing at the two.
Kyoko's eyes snapped open, sleepiness chased away the second she recognize the deep and smooth voice so very close to her ears. His hold around her tightened, face buried in her locks of silky orange, locking her in place. Her gaze darted around, the blanket long dropped on the ground, she was alarmed but wondering for a second on how and why she'd always ended up in such an embarrassing predicament. Haru and Chrome noted then that Kyoko's face resembled very much that of a ripe tomato as she squirmed, desperately trying to peel his hands off of her. Thankfully, that seemed to have woken him up.
"Kyoko, stop moving so—" He cracked an eye, coffee shaded hues finally meeting hers and then the rest of the spectators watching them, amused by how the image fits him. A young mafioso sitting much like the boss he is an orange-haired beauty wrapped around his hands conveniently.
However, this particular woman is Kyoko Sasagawa, sister of his sun guardian, a girl who could actually pack a punch when she wanted to. As she tilted her head at him, a sickeningly sweet smile over her face—
"HANDS OFF, YOU PERVERT!"
And out he goes again.

The brunette tightened his tie, trying to ignore the pain stinging his chin from the uppercut punch the sun guardian had taught her. In a couple of minutes, they'll finally arrive in Italy. The guardians had all changed into their best suits and completely armed with their necessary weapons. Kyoko, however, had changed into an elegant, slit long black dress that compliments her curves and a pair of matching heels. Light make up adorned her features along with her glossy lips. They needed to create the image of a perfect mafia boss's lover and Tsuna…well…he still couldn't stop gawking and stealing glances from time to time. Kyoko felt embarrassed with the dress and wasn't really one who is used to neither heels nor make-up in the first place.
But he, in his pin-stripe suit and cloak, power radiating off of his mere presence, had a soft smile over his lips reserved for her. Offering her a hand, she took it as she made her first step in Italy, the heart of the mafia world.
Hundreds of men ranging from twice to thrice her size and age, some women, sharp and cunning, crowding yet organized as they watched the infamous Vongola famiglia's every move. The air was thick, tense as if the slightest movement could cause the loss of a life. She could feel eyes on her even with the calm demeanour she put up. Some smirked while the rest had obviously fake expressions, as if smiling masks were glued to their faces. Murderous intent filled the air and the guardians, the right and left hand man in front of her and their boss as well as the rest following suit, seemed like the carefree and loving family she knew had switched with cautious and protective professional Mafiosi.
However, it wasn't long before the Vongola Decimo was bombarded with questions and offers. She was fairly surprised when not even after they had only taken a few steps, several had already asked the young mafia boss to meet or even marry their daughters. It was as if they refused to regard her presence or had chosen to ignore her. Tsuna of course, refused politely, a forced smile on his face and she knew then that it has to stop.
Enough was enough of their selfishness forced against the brunette without a care about how he felt.
"Alright, Kyoko-chan. To build your so-called 'role' as being Tsuna's lover you first need to get the idea on why the said role even exists in the first place." Bianchi explained as she crossed her arms over her chest. The girls were seated around the table usually used for the meeting between bosses.
Kyoko blinked. "Isn't it so that his suitors would back off and leave him alone?"
The poison cooker nodded. "However, that doesn't mean that simply standing beside him with the title of his girlfriend and looking all pretty would make those girls give up on him. They may just be suitors, but they are Mafiosi as much as their persistent fathers are."
The young Sasagawa felt confused but urged her to continue anyway.
"You must be the perfect lover, one who has the potential to even be the future lady of the Vongola. Show them that the two of you are inseparable and that the one who stands beside him could be no one other than you and you alone." The older woman explained and Kyoko made sure to take note of it in her mind.
"You mean…like showing off to them how close we are?" The orange haired teen said, she refused to use the term 'madly in love' but the mere thought had already made heat creet up her cheeks.
"Correct. One of the ways is of course, by using the greatest weapon a woman in a relationship could ever have." At that, Kyoko was lost. How was she supposed to do such feat if she is only an ordinary woman who was clueless to love?
Bianchi wasn't surprised at her reaction since she knew Kyoko was never experience in this forte anyway. Instead, she told Haru and Chrome to help with her demonstration.
"For example, this slice of cake…let's say it's yours." She said with a kind smile on her face, pushing a plate of delicious looking cake towards her. Kyoko eyed the pastry before her and then the poison cooker suspiciously.
"Go ahead." With that, Kyoko cautiously took up her fork. But just as she was about to take a bite, Haru took the cherry on top of the cake followed by Chrome who sneakily took a piece of the cake with a fork.
"Huh?" And all she could do was watch as the two girls stole her sweet before her eyes, taking piece by piece and savouring her cake.
"H-Hey!" She finally objected, but still they didn't stop and somehow that seemed to tick her off as she snatched the plate and brought it closer to her. "I-It's mine!"
Kyoko frowned while the purple-headed illusionist squeaked and apologized. Haru, however, pouted as she'd rather like the cake.
"That is exactly what those suitors are trying to do, Kyoko-chan. Stealing your man with or without you watching them….that's just how annoying some of them can be." Bianchi said and a grin spread over her face as the orange haired woman narrowed her eyes, finally getting the point.
"So what are you going to do, Kyoko-chan…?"
"Decimo-sama, surely you'd love my daughter." One of the Mafiosi said and Tsuna could feel his smile cracking, anger boiling at their ignorance and how rude they are with his 'lover' already by his side. Kyoko had orange locks shadowing her caramel hues and as the brunette squeezed her hand and tried to refuse once again...
"Why she is a very intelligent and graceful lady, surely you wouldn't regret meeting her—"
The mafia boss's lover abruptly stopped on her tracks, surprising the brunette and every single person as she muttered coldly yet bravely.
"...Shut up."
Caramel hues reflecting anger and irritation, intimidation towards those who'd dared to ignore her presence. "…Can't any of you see that he is tired of all this?"
"Oh wait..." She breathed out, calmly, as if the countless pair of eyes set on hers meant nothing to her.
"You were all busy offering to throw your girls on 'Decimo-sama'." Her eyes narrowed, fierce, yet loyalty was reflected in her eyes, as if relaying the anger of her family towards them with a single, strong gaze. Hearing no response from the shocked Mafiosi around them, she wrapped her arm around her lover's neck, honey browns sharp and enticing every single one of those fools who'd dared to irritate her favourite brunette. Her frame pressed against his, and he whose hands automatically reached to hold her, welcoming her who seemed to fit perfectly against him. A smirk stretched on his lips as she had once again surprised him with her incredulous actions.
"Well...I'd love to see those girls—" Delicate fingers traced the lines of his jaws daringly, watching the wide eyed audience with a mischievous curve of her lips. "—Try and steal him away from me."
Locks of silky orange locks brushed against his skin as close to his neck, just a mere breath away, were those lips which tugged all-too-innocently.
As if she was a child about to have a taste of her favourite sweet…
"…My Tsunayoshi."
