CHAPTER 9: The Butler's Silver-Haired Cousin

[A few metres outside of Sanzenin Mansion]
Hayate Ayasaki and Kanta Mizuno left the Unity Force Academy early morning, after the former received a message from Nagi Sanzenin regarding his second cousin Nina from Finland, who arrived from Japan one day ago, is visiting the Sanzenin Mansion. Of course, Kanta is not pleased in the slightest, when he later reveals that he is also going with Hayate, much to his utter dismay. And now, they are seen walking all the way into the familiar mansion.
"You really have to do it this time, Hayate-san?" Kanta asked.
"Beats me, but were you the one who caused trouble in the Sanzenin Residence in the first place, a few weeks ago? Isn't it, Kanta-san?" Hayate questioned.
"Duh, it was you and Madam Shorty's fault that we were late." Kanta snidely remarked.
"Idiot." Hayate mocked.
"Oh, shut up, you dunderhead!" Kanta shot back. "How many times do I have to mention to you I hate pampered people?" He questioned.
"Besides, I want to see how much Nina-chan has grown!" Hayate said in a rather cutesy manner.
"You have got to be kidding me." Kanta said.
But before the two can argue furthermore heatedly, Nagi appears in front of them, as well as a young man beside the former. Hayate, on the other hand, knows who this person is, but he dreads that prolonged separation has made him unable to remember who he is.
The man in front of Kanta and Hayate has a slightly scruffy chin. He has olive-coloured hair and has grey eyes. He is also wearing a blue and white shirt with a Pepsi logo in the middle. He wears black pants and white sneakers. This is Shuutarou Shimazaki, Hayate's first cousin, once removed.
"Ah, Hayate-san! Kanta-nii-san!" Nagi greeted, before looking at the young girl. "Nina-chan has just arrived from the airport yesterday, before Shuutaro-nii-sama brings her here today, who travelled from Tsumagoi, Gunma to here."
"Oi, Hayate." Shuutaro called out.
"Shuutaro-nii-sama!" Hayate approached Shuutaro, who only bumped his fist into his own.
"You know him?" Kanta asked.
"This is my first cousin, once removed, Shuutaro Shimazaki. Nina-chan's uncle." Hayate introduced the man to Kanta. "Speaking of which, where is she?" He asked.
"Nina-chan's here now behind Shuutarou-nii-sama." Nagi said, before the girl known as Nina Shimazaki appears with a smile in her face, which completely surprised Hayate upon seeing her second cousin for the first time in 10 years.
Nina Shimazaki is a 10-year-old girl who is wearing a straw hat, a white sundress with a blue ribbon in front of it, and white sandals. She also has purple eyes and long silver hair.
"Nina-chan!" Hayate embraces Nina. "I never know you have changed a lot for the past 10 years!"
"Nina hasn't seen and remembered you for a very long time, but thanks to Nagi-nee-chan, I finally remember you!" Nina only embraces his long-lost relative back.
Kanta pondered, as he looks at the girl. "EH?! That's Nina?!" He points at the silver-haired girl, who only smiles before nodding, then he promptly grabs Hayate from his butler uniform. "You fucking fool! I told you that me trusting on your 'sources' is a goddamn mistake!"
"What the fuck?! She's a baby 10 years ago from the photo...! And that was the only image I gave to you!" Hayate argued.
"Nina doesn't like the two arguing." Nina points out.
"Who is that guy with Hayate?" Shuutaro asks Nagi.
"That's Kanta Mizuno, and he and Hayate-san tend to not get along with each other." Nagi answered. "It's a little complicated to explain, so maybe later." She then looks at Hayate and Kanta. "Will you two stop arguing?!" She yelled, causing the two to stop. "Seriously, these two..." She remarked.
"Though Nina admittedly like both of them." Nina said honestly.
"Yeah, right." Nagi said. "Ever since Hayate-san meets up with Kanta-nii-san in the Unity Force Academy, those two are always butting heads toward each other." He added.
"Unity Force Academy?" Nina questioned.
"We'll explain it later." Nagi responded.

[Inside the Sanzenin Mansion]
Hayate, Kanta, Nagi, Shuutarou, and Nina later arrive at the giant mansion. As usual, Hayate follows Nagi into the giant dining hall, to which Kanta and Shuutarou feel completely alienated by the drastic change of surroundings in front of them.
In Kanta's case, due to him living in the desert for all of his lifetime where survival is always a necessity, he is never used to living a rich, upper-class lifestyle unlike Nagi, hence the reason for his usual mockery towards nobles. But for Shuutarou's case, he lost his job a year ago, when his company was sold by a foreign-owned fund, resulting in him getting laid-off.
In front of them is a maid, who is looking at Nagi.
She has long brown hair that is tied in a ponytail and clipped, bangs with one long strand of wavy hair in the middle of her face and red eyes. She is seen wearing a maid uniform. This is Maria, Nagi's personal maid.
During the slightly long walk all the way to the huge dining hall, Kanta has seen the maids bowing, whom he attempts to flirt with Maria, but he ends up getting smacked by the petite girl.
As that happens, the group sans Hayate sit down at their respective seats, all for the while that Kanta is commenting how his opportunity to flirt Maria has dramatically failed.
"I guess rich people can have this place, but they don't know shit about survival." Kanta remarked. "Speaking of which, what is Nina-san's purpose of visit here?" He asked Shuutarou.
"To be an Akiba Idol." Shuutarou added. "Plus, she wants to learn more about Japan." He added. "The first time I met her at my family's house in Tsumagoi, Gunma, let's just say it was awkward at first." He continued, remembering the time he firstly sees Nina warming herself up from an electric fan while she lifts her skirt up, with Shuutarou completely losing it at first.
"Nina could have called him a pervert!" Nina exclaimed.
"But it was an accident, you know?" Shuutarou said. "Plus, I don't even know you at that time, until your grandparents, my own parents, told me about you." He added.
"Hey, Kanta-san." Hayate called in.
"What fucking now?" Kanta asked in a rather cursing manner.
"Calm down." Shuutarou said.
"I need you for a moment." Hayate said.
"Damnit." Kanta leaves the dining table, as he goes to Hayate.
A few minutes later, both Hayate and Kanta are seen outside of the mansion conversing from one another about something, but the conversation later leads to Nina.
"About Nina-chan." Hayate said. "While I tend to work with Nagi-chan for most of the time as her personal butler, but since you have caused trouble here a few days ago..." He added.
"Are you obsessed over beating that dead horse again?" Kanta asked.
"In fact, why not try working as a personal guard to Nina-chan? I heard stories of you surviving in your previous world with that abilities of yours, so why not apply those into something more useful?" Hayate asked with a sardonic smile on his face.
"EXCUSE ME?!" Kanta yelled, which can be heard from the inside, and with Nagi looking at the two with an annoyed face. "What the actual FUCK are you talking about?" He added.
"Listen, Rug-man." Hayate argued heatedly. "You nearly caused a shit-ton of trouble here, so you pay the favour by being a good gentleman to Nina-chan." he added. "Plus, Nina-chan is only here since yesterday, so I don't know if she's used to most of this country's cultures here." He ended.
"Are you that dense or what?" Kanta remarked. "You are obviously pointing to the wrong person." He added. "Jesus fucking Christ. I thought you'd be smarter than this." He remarked sarcastically.
"But maybe you can defend her from the bullies or anyone else who want to murder or kidnap her, just like how I protect Nagi-chan from those kinds of people." Hayate recounted.
"It's a deal." Kanta said. "But don't you fucking blame me for the shit that will happen, because of you." He added. "Plus, Madam Shorty will know how much you fuck up on a deal like this." He ended rather heatedly.
After the rest finished their lunch, with Kanta feeling delighted over such a meal he hasn't experienced from his home universe, Hayate, Kanta, Shuutarou, Nina, Nagi, and now Maria later leave the mansion, as they head outside to visit Nina's current home in Tsumagoi, with them at one of the family limousines with Maria as the chaffeur.
"All aboard!" Maria said. "It's a three-hour ride in there, so buckle up." She ended with a wink.
A few minutes later, at the limousine...
"Speaking of which, I've never seen a person dressing like that before. Not to mention, this Unity Force nonsense." Shuutarou points out, who is referring to Kanta.
"Man, this is going to be tough." Kanta said, as he is seen drinking a can of soda. "Alright, I'll explain it to both of you." He ended.
"Nina wants to hear about the Unity Force!" Nina exclaimed. "I wonder if it's like the Precan shows that I see!" She added.
"Precan?" Hayate asked.
"Nina's favourite magical girl show, where it also taught her Japanese." Shuutarou added.
"Man, my dear Nina-chan really likes magical girls, don't you think?" Hayate said, as she pats Nina's head.
"You really are too doting." Kanta remarked. "Alright, here's a little explanation for who I am and who the Unity Force truly is." He ended.
Kanta begins to explain to Maria, Nina, and Shuutarou about the existence of several worlds, as well as the multiverse and the foundation of the Unity Force and its mission to purge out any threats within the multiverse.
"Wait, so the three of you are from this Unity Force?!" Shuutarou said. "Man, I never knew Hayate would join in this organisation that no one has known." He added.
"Trust me, it was a lot of fun." Hayate added. "In fact, me and Nagi-chan joined in, and meet up with this guy right here." He pointed out, referring to Kanta.
"Yeah right. How can I forget the time when you and Madam Short-legs run late?" Kanta snidely mocked, before Nagi's face turned red to the point of anger.
"STOP. CALLING. ME. SHORT!" Nagi unleashes a blow to Kanta's head, causing a lump to appear from his head, before she fumes in front of him, but is stopped by Hayate before she goes completely losing it. "Let go of me, Hayate-san! I want to beat him to pulp for calling me short!" She added rather angrily.
"Jesus, Nagi-san!" Kanta said, as he rubs his pained head.
"Are you okay, Kanta-nii-sama?" Nina asked.
"Damn fine." Kanta responded.
"Sorry about Nagi-chan. She's just having a complex about her height." Maria said at the driver's seat.
A few hours later, as the rest of the group conversed during their long trip from Tokyo to Tsumagoi, with Shuutarou giving Maria the directions to the former's home, the group later arrive at the Shimazaki residence, which is surrounded by farmlands, much like how Chito and Yuuri visited Asahigaoka.

[Tsumagoi, Gunma, Normal Earth]
"Oi, Kanta-san." Hayate called out. "You're working as Nina-chan's personal guard for the day, so make it good." He ended.
"Whatever floats your boat." Kanta said with a huff. "Remember that you will be at fault if everything does not go according to plan." He warned, but Nina holds his hands suddenly. "Calm it down, Nina-san." He added.
"Nina can help you out!" She said.
"Ugh, fine..." Kanta said.
"Nanna is waiting!" Nina said.
The door of the Shimazaki residence opens, when a middle-aged woman appears.
The middle-aged woman has brown hair, who is wearing a white collared shirt with a black vest in front of it. She is also seen wearing grey pants, as well as slippers. This is Kayano Shimazaki, the 57-year-old mother of Shuutarou, the grandmother of Nina, and the great-aunt of Hayate.
How is Kayano the great-aunt of Hayate? That's because Kayano is the younger sister of Hayate's deceased grandmother Suzune Ayasaki, despite her not having the same blue hair. Like her older sister, she is shown to be highly disappointed of her nephew Shun Ayasaki, Hayate's father, and has shut off both him and Hayate's mother from her life for a very long time.
"Grandma Kayano!" Hayate called out.
"So you decided to bring Hayate in here, Shuutarou." Kayano said, with Shuutarou nodding. "I haven't seen my older sister Suzune for a very long time after passing away, but her spirit surely has lifted Hayate's spirits up." She added. "Your father is still working at the family diner for today, so he won't come back until night." She ended.
"I never knew you have another family, Hayate-san." Nagi said.
"I haven't seen my great-aunt for the last few years." Hayate said. "Also, this second cousin of mine, as well!" He added.
"So, you've brought some friends here from Sanzenin Mansion, as well." Kayano said, before looking at Kanta. "Who is this strange person next to you, Nina?" She asked.
"This is Kanta Mizuno-nii-san, Nanna!" Nina answered.
"Hello there, Mrs. Shimazaki." Kanta introduced. "I'm Hayate-san and Nina-san's friend." He added.
"Ah, so you're one of my great-nephew's friends, as well as my granddaughter." Kayano said.
"It's a little complicated to explain, but yes." Kanta said.
"Kanta-nii-chan! Can we go somewhere?" Nina asked.
"Hey, I don't know about this place, so don't just demand me!" Kanta argued.
"Why not go to the diner?" Kayano said.
"Oh, that's right! The diner!" Shuutarou said. "But we already ate at the Sanzenin Mansion, though." He ended.
"I want to see great-uncle there!" Hayate beamed.
"Wait, stop!" Shuutarou said. "We haven't talked about anything yet!" He ended.
But the situation only devolved into chaos, as the group leave the Shimazaki Residence to visit the family restaurant, which is just a few walks away.
A few minutes later, after much bantering and demanding, Hayate, Nina, Shuutarou, Kanta, and Nagi visit the family diner. There, no people are visiting the place yet, but they see two people in there: one is a middle-aged man and the other is a young woman.
"Hello there, Shuutarou-" The woman said, but she is interrupted by the rest. "Who are you, people?!" She added.
"Whoa, calm down!" Kanta exclaimed.
The woman is wearing a black apron, which signifies that she works as a waitress. She has a black hair and brown eyes, and is wearing a white shirt, blue denim jeans, and white sneakers. This is Tomoe, Shuutarou's 27-year-old childhood friend.
"You shouldn't have come in, Shuutarou." Tomohisa said.
"Pops, Hayate insists on coming here, so I bring him." Shuutarou said, before looking to Tomoe. "Sorry about it, Tomoe." He sheepishly said.
"Hayate?!" The man shouted from afar.
The middle-aged man has a moustache, a scruffy chin, and black hair. He is wearing white buttoned, long-sleeved shirt, black pants, and black shoes. This is Tomohisa Shimazaki, Shuutarou's father, Nina's grandfather, and Hayate's great-uncle.
"Hello there, great-uncle..." Hayate greeted rather quietly.
"Well, isn't it for a very long time, Hayate!" Tomohisa greeted.
"I feel happy for you, Hayate-san." Kanta said, as he comically cries.
"Really?" Nagi questioned.
"But I have a question, though..." Kanta said. "Where is Nina's family, if she is called Nina 'Shimazaki'?" He added.
"You mean my sister Yoko?" Shuutarou said. "She's still in Finland, who is busy with her job in interior design, working at a Finnish furniture manufacturer." He added. "As for her father, he divorced Yoko, six years ago, hence she has my sister's surname." He ended.
"That fucking sucks." Kanta said.
"I never even see her own father." Nagi said. "Not to mention, her mother." She added.
While the conversation with Hayate and Tomohisa happens, before Nagi and Maria join in, Shuutarou, Nina, Tomoe, and Kanta, on the other hand, are conversing over something different.
"Regardless of the reasons..." Tomoe said. "Shuutarou just ironically came in from Tokyo all the way here. Not to mention, he was already broke and unemployed by the time he came back here again." She said rather annoyingly.
"Do you have to bring that up?!" Shuutarou exclaimed.
"Dude, you're broke and shit-out-of-luck, so get a job!" Kanta sarcastically exclaimed.
"And what about you?" Shuutarou asked. "You're with Nina and act as her personal guard!" He shot back.
"But I have experience working in yokel jobs." Kanta responded. "Your sister would be so damn disappointed if you're like this." He ended.
"You're so blunt, you know!" Shuutarou said.
"Jesus." Kanta remarked. "Say, can Nina-san and I spend our time outside?" He added, as he raised his eyebrows. "I guess you two will be lovebirds in the meantime, so why not talk to both of you." He grinned, as him and Nina leave.
"Nina also agree with Kanta-nii-san!" Nina said. "You two should marry!" She added.
"See, even Nina-san agrees to it." Kanta said.
"EXCUSE US!" Both Tomoe and Shuutarou yelled.
"I'm not marrying to this broke and unemployed man!"/"Hell no! I'm not going to marry her!" Tomoe and Shuutarou responded at the same time.
Outside, we see Kanta and Nina walking around the rural farmland. Kanta, who has never seen this place before, is obviously lost. But he tries his best to navigate this town. Instead, they end up in a forest within the town, one of which is something they have never explored before, but more importantly, they decide to spend their lives for the day.
"Kanta-nii-san... Where are we?" Nina asked.
"Hell if I know, but we should be going inside the forest." Kanta said.
"Would Shuutarou be angry to Nina?" Nina asked.
"Don't worry about them for now." Kanta said. "Why not take a break with me." He added. "After all, this is my job as your bodyguard." He ended.
"Sure! Nina wants to hang out!" Nina declared.
And with that, both Nina and Kanta hang out each other. Or so it seems...
Later on, however, as afternoon passes, Kanta and Nina arrive back at the Shimazaki residence. Nina has enjoyed being at company with Kanta, to his dismay, but he later gives in to her unbelievable cuteness, which is something completely different from the experience he faces with a familiar person with a buxom figure. But when they arrive back at the residence Nina suddenly speaks words that are highly inappropriate.
"Nina likes hanging out with Kanta-nii-san!" Nina exclaimed. "Nina also learned a new word from him as well, which is 'motherfucker'." Nina asked, before Shuutarou spits his drink out in surprise, as well as Hayate, Nagi, Maria, and Kayano.
"Don't say that!" Shuutarou exclaimed, as he suddenly covers Nina's mouth. "What did you just influence to Nina when you go with her, Mizuno-san!" He yelled.
"Oh crap..." Hayate said. "The hell, Kanta-san? Did you teach Nina-chan that outlandish lifestyle of yours?!" He exclaimed.
"Have you lost it, Mizuno-san?!" Shuutarou exclaimed. "She's only ten and you're influencing her with that?" He questioned.
"Nina-san said she wants to know about my lifestyle and my world, so I told her things that I experienced." Kanta explained. "Plus, this was your own goddamn idea, Hayate-san! Not to mention, you as well, Nagi-san!" He angrily exclaimed, as the two chased each other, with the former taking out his shotgun.
"Oh shit." Hayate runs away.
"What the? I have nothing to do with this!" Nagi said, as she joins with Hayate.
"Come back here, you swines!" Kanta chases Hayate and Nagi around the street.
"Stop this madman!" Nagi exclaimed.
"I'm sorry that I didn't think through this!" Hayate also remarked.

[U.F. Academy Dormitories, U. F. Earth]
Nightfall comes, as the students of the Unity Force Academy are sleeping. Meanwhile, Hayate, Kanta, and Nagi are sleeping at one of the rooms, with the former cursing as to how Kanta becomes a bad influence for Nina's development. However, before that happens, he receives a call from one of his classmates, which is none other than Ichika Takatsuki.
"Something the matter, Ichika-san?" Hayate talks.
"Chito and Yuuri are missing at my own dormitory room!" Ichika said.
"Wait... Wait... Let me register that in my head..." Hayate dumbly said. "SAY WHAT?!" He yelled.
"Dude, people are sleeping!" Kanta exclaimed.
"Chito-san and Yuuri-san have disappeared, and we must go to the Resolution Tower, stat!" Hayate ordered.
"You serious?" Kanta asked.
Nagi then wakes up.
"Wait, what just happened?" Nagi questioned.
"Chito-san and Yuuri-san." Hayate explained. "They disappeared mysteriously, after Ichika-san told me." He added.
"We should go to the Grand Headmaster's office and ask him what just happened." Kanta said. "But please in the holy mother of fuck, tone down your voice." He ended, as Nagi, Hayate, and Kanta leave their own dormitory room.
