"So you're not going to tell me?"
Fin ask trailing behind her still questioning her from they left the car and his repetitiveness is starting to get a bit annoying. She regrets telling him that she was planning to take the weekend off with no interruptions, because now he's not leaving her alone, nor will he.
All she went to do was inform her chief that she was taking the weekend off which was no problem because she has enough vacation days to take months off. Now Fin is all over her trying to get her to say what he probably already knows. She hears her office door close behind her and unfortunately Fin is the one who closed it and is now standing, watching her waiting for an answer.
"Olivia"
"Yes Sargent"
He stands still with his hands in his pockets and just gives her a straight faced look as if she's suppose to spill everything. She sits with a smirk on her face she couldn't hide. It's a little funny the way he's looking at her, so desperate for her to tell him.
It has been sometime and it probably is fair that she tells him. For one he has been the one pushing them together. Also he's her best friend besides Elliot. Fin has always been there for her and looks out for her like family. Always available and present when needed, easy to talk to, just over all a great person. All he really wants is to know she's happy, clearly she is. They all can tell in the way she smiles more, definitely in better moods, she's in brighter spirits. She can see it in herself as well. Sees it when she's close to him she feels better, she grins childishly when he sends her sweet text messages when he can. It leave she smiling at her phone when her squad is spit balling to the point that sometimes they have to call her name to get her attention. Yep, it's getting really obvious.
"Soo"
She shakes her head and laughs at his persistence. "I don't know why you want me to tell you I'm sure you know Fin." She says while playing distracted, putting on her glasses. Maybe she'll go over some dd5s and push for that new detectives she really needs while the time passes, but Fin is deadass serious on getting her to tell him.
"Alright Fin" She clasps her glasses and rest them down. He stands waiting to be told what he wanted to hear for so long. Years he had spent watching the both of them ogle each other from across their desk. Also dealt with the awkwardness of accompanying them in stakeouts. Sometimes he swore he would feel tension radiating from the both of them. Shockingly witnessing the fights they had showed him most how much they truly cared for each other. He had seen how broken she was when he left but that was then. As far as he 'knows' they are working on it or already worked through it.
She does seem happier now. Refreshed when she comes to work. The whole squad would be lying if they said they didn't realize the small changes but most, more like all of them have. They just don't have it in them to ask, unlike Fin.
But their bond is different as is with everyone else. They share and confined in each other and the trust they have is deep. That she knows for a fact, then it leads her to saying. " We haven't told anyone yet but we areā¦. together."
The grin that plays on his face is priceless and contagious. She tries to hide it but it's useless. "But I will appreciate it if you don't tell anyone, we're not ready yet." She clicks at her pen nervously. The last things she wants is anyone finding out especially when she doesn't want anyone to.
" And by we're do you really mean the both of you or mostly just you."
That again he's right about. Elliot's love for her has always been..out there and obvious. It's what caused them the sideways looks as they walked through the precinct. It was hard to deflect what everyone thought was going on between them when he was caught giving her love doused eyes, being overprotective which he still is and the lack of personal space they gave each other. He spent more time working with her than he did with his wife and kids unfortunately but he had made up for it. She had only glimpsed what it's like with him and his children when he invited them to his Christmas get together but it seems as though he had sealed the cracks in their broken relationships and covered them with glitter. It doesn't make the cracks disappear but it holds everything back together. Dicky who she was pretty sure would've been more distant actually shows up and from what she sees, appreciates his dad even more.
Their were some bumps in the road of raising his kids but they portray the family she has always wanted to be apart of. She has the chance now and she is gladly going to take it.
"Yes mostly me but it'll still be appreciated. He knows I'm not ready yet so we're just focusing on us right now."
"Never planned on telling anyone in the first place. For what it's worth I'm happy for you Cap."
"And what do you think that is worth." She is curious to know what he thinks.
"Your happiness. You know it and we all see it Liv."
Her eyes blur almost from tears while her cheeks raise making it even harder to see. "Thank you Fin."
"Toothbrush?"
"Yessss mommm"
"Do you have your phone charger because last time you left it and this time I'm not driving all the way down there just to bring it."
"Yes mom I packed everything." Noah whines as he moves through the hallway to the door where Amanda is patiently waiting.
Having Lucy stay for the whole weekend just wouldn't plan out. She still has other children that she tends to and having stay the whole weekend she feels it maybe a little selfish. That's why she is so thankful for Amanda. Without question or hesitation she more than willingly accepted Noah to stay and spend the weekend with her daughters, and Carisi but she does now that Olivia caught onto them a long time ago. If Amanda doesn't bring it up neither will she, just how she won't bring her up Elliot. Amanda still doesn't seem to like him and that's respectable. They still haven't had as much as a simple conversation, well as far as she knows. She doesn't ask about him or them for that matter but Amanda is more than likely having her thoughts about them.
"Alright Noah I'll be there Sunday to pick you up. Be good for Aunt Amanda okay."
"I will. I love you"
"I love you too." She kisses the top of his head as he walks away.
Olivia is about to walk back to her bedroom to pack, what she wished she did from this morning until she hears Amanda. "Hang on Noah mind giving your mom and I a minute."
He doesn't mind at all they're not necessarily in a rush. Only Olivia wants to get to Elliot's as soon as possible. "Sure" he says then loses himself on his cell phone.
So much for them not asking questions. She's sure that's what's coming. Amanda eyes land on Olivia then shift to the kitchen. Olivia gives a small nod then moves her way into the kitchen with Amanda directly behind her.
"So what really are your plans for this weekend. What do you have a date or something?" Amanda ask trying to keep her tone as low as possible yet still friendly.
"Umm" she contemplates giving her another story about her just wanting some alone time but she settles on the truth. For some reason, everyone wants to know about her dating life today. "Yeah I do"
Her tone matching the same softest as Amanda's.
"It's with him isn't it. Stabler." She doesn't say it as if she asking.
"And if it is?" She ask not sure how to respond to Amanda's demeanor.
It's not exactly pissed or angry but she does seemed bothered. The blonde's eye contact has a strong hold that's weighing on her and all Olivia wants is for her to get to the point, just come out and say it.
"Look Liv, I don't know what's your relationship like with Stabler-"
"And I can say the same about you and Carisi." It doesn't come out disrespectful but it does bite back as defensive. She glances over to Noah who is oblivious to the conversation being held.
It's almost tiring hearing about what Elliot did to her and that she should be careful and make sure she's doing the right time, but like every relationship no one really knows what is happening but the two. He has apologized they've worked through it and everything is great for the two of them, besides finding the time to see each other. She's appreciative of everyone looking out for her but, really she's fine.
Amanda looks like she's just witnessed something traumatic. Her mouth is slightly agape and she's almost standing in a frozen like state. She sees the seconds it takes her to choke out a response.
"Y-you know.."
Olivia nods her head.
"The two of you were great detectives, but you both are horrible at hiding it. But don't worry I'm not saying a thing and I'm happy for you. And I'll appreciate it if you trust me and be happy for me."
She reaches out and takes Amanda's hand in both of hers.
Of course Amanda is happy for her, she just doesn't want it to somehow become a mistake then she has to witness that Olivia again. The Olivia that stuck to herself quietly. Preferred to be away from the company of other, seemed so hurt for such a long time. Took her long enough to gain her trust, some of it partially her fault because she wasn't exactly honest to begin with none the less.
She takes a breath and squeezes Olivia's hand lightly.
"Liv, you're my captain and a grown woman and I can't tell you what to do but I don't want you see you in the state that I met you in."
Olivia could cry just hearing her say those words that dig up memories. How they met she really wasn't in a good state.
She nods her head and gives a smile. "He's not leaving me Amanda."
She hopes.
She smiles back then pulls Olivia in for a hug. Somehow there conversation brought up so much emotions.
"I am happy for you, Liv." She whispers running her hand long her back
"You guys should really disclose though, before someone rats you guys out." Olivia says pulling back from the hug but her arms stay rested onto Amanda's arms.
"You think we're that obvious?" She ask tilting her head to the side.
"It was enough for me and Fin to find out."
"Of course Fin knows. I guess he figured out about you and Stabler."
"More of he knew it was going to happen sooner than we did, in a way."
"Hmm I guess that make sense. Later Liv."
She pulls away so she and Noah can leave.
"Ready Noah."
"Ready." He says snapping out of his phone. "Bye Mom."
"Bye sweetie"
Now she can get ready.
Within minutes she's all packed and all she has to do is get dressed for dinner then she can leave. She thinks ahead and carries her bag downstairs and into her car because it wouldn't make since waiting until she's ready in heels in a nice dress moving through her lobby with a big overnight bag in her hands. Attention she doesn't need. Also it would be obvious what plans she has for the night and weekend. When she's back she hops into the shower to clean up and freshen up on a few things. She soaps up her body, washes her hair, runs her razor along parts of her body until she's satisfied with the feel.
When she's out she blow dries and adds waves throughout her hair.
She smoothes 'bare vanilla' scented lotion along her body with a bit of coconut oil so she's soft all over.
Underwear. She wants to look as sexy as she feels tonight so lingerie it is. It's been a while since she's went through her draw for lingerie. So long she almost forgot how much she has and it's a lot to chose from. Nothing that's too much, she doesn't want anything that's too brightly colored and has to many hooks or lace and sticks at her skin and make her uncomfortable. Black, black is good it won't be seen through what she's wearing. She goes through all the black sets she has and she thinks she has found the perfect one.
It's thin and she can she it won't cover much but isn't that the point? The material is soft when she brings it to her fingers which is great. The straps are thin on the bra and the sides of the underwear that hold onto her hips. The rest of it is really just pieces of lace that only cover some parts while skins peeps through the rest.
Whether it be the cold air or her arousal he'll definitely she her nipples hard against her dress.
As she is looking in the mirror while applying makeup, she never thought that one day she'll be getting all dolled up for Elliot. Never. That she'll never see the day they both realized they can't live without each other. Years ago she was positive she'll never see him again. But she did, she is going to see him and they will continue to do this for as long as they live.
She looks over herself on last time before she leaves.
She's pleased with the way she looks, more than pleased actually and without a doubt Elliot is going to be too.
Quickly she looks around making sure she doesn't leave anything so she can leave before it gets dark because she hates driving after dark. Especially after being run off the road. Her ankle is completely healed but it's never going to feel the same again. Surprisingly there isn't much traffic tonight so she arrives there in record time. Before she can properly take her keys out the the ignition Elliot is already outside making his way toward her to open her car door.
"Hey"
"Hi what were you doing, looking out of the window waiting for me?" She smirks because he really got out there fast.
"Jokes on you, I wasn't looking out of any window I actually was already down here waiting for five minutes." He says assisting her out of the car.
"Wow, what if I just didn't show?"
"You wouldn't." That he's right about. All week she had been looking forward to seeing him.
"Where's your bag."
"Your really being presumptuous tonight." She's really playing with him now.
"Liv."
"It's in the backseat, El." She laughs at how his facial expression changes.
He glanced at her briskly then he's taking out her overnight bag then they're headed inside.
On every date she has been to were at some fancy restaurants ,but somehow none of them compare to this. Walking in there's soft music playing in the background just enough so their voices would be the only ones heard. The lights were dimly lit while the mixed smells of food and a few well placed candles that fill her nostrils. His dinning table is set a little too perfect kind of making it hard to believe he did it himself. Everything looks so in place. Perfect.
There is a bouquet of roses on his countertop what she can only guess are for her but she doesn't make the assumption. From behind she looks dazed as she looks around and he can't help but watch her. She stands still, curves accentuated in her white dress. Waves that have gotten a lot longer crashing past her shoulders. Her legs are firm in the heels she's wearing. He loves seeing her like this. Knowing that she dresses like this to see him, for dinner even if it is just at his home. Almost all men arrange the reservation at an expensive restaurant for a first date but he wants this to be special. He wanted to personally serve her himself, decorate and arrange to his liking and to what he believes she will love. By her reaction without words he's sure he has done a great job.
"You look beautiful Olivia." He tells her and she turns to face him quickly.
For some reason she looks down at her clothes as if she doesn't know what she's wearing. A bit nervous, it is their first date after all.
"Thank you."
She now takes the time to look at him. Grey dress pants with a long sleeved black shirt he has the first three buttons undone. Anyone with eyes can see he's really fit underneath his shirt. His brawny shoulders and chest, his arms flexing as he hold her bag. She can stare at this man all day.
"You look great too El. And this."
She out stretches her arm to the scenery. "This is really beautiful."
"Thank you."
For a few short seconds they stare into each other's eyes. There's that pull they feel toward each and it takes everything in him to pull out of the trance. "I'm going to put this in the bedroom be right back."
He leaves her not for long but she's already in the kitchen inspecting what smells so good.
"I don't mean to shatter your ego or anything Elliot but I find it hard to believe you did this all by yourself." He hears her say as he exits his bedroom.
"Wow, I'm a bit hurt. You really don't think I could've done this myself."
He turns her around to face him. Her lower back pressed into the counter with his arms around her waist pulling her into his chest.
"I didn't say you couldn't I just think you had help from you mom."
"Well she didn't help because she and Eli went with Kathleen earlier today so all me."
With each word his voice her lower and brought their faces closer. Their lips meet it's and it's nothing soft or slow. It's a kiss fueled from overwhelming separation and portrays 'I miss you'. It's consumed with love and she hates that she finds the power to pull away. As much as she doesn't want to, they can wait. Right?
"Dinner, El." She says breathlessly.
He pulls back and looks at her like dinner is the last thing on his mind. There's hunger in his eyes but it's not for food.
He nods in acknowledgment then leads her to the small dinner table. He pulls out her chair and she sits whispering a 'thank you'.
There's is very little talk between them but the looks they give each other across the table has the highest volume.
He watches her sip from her wine glass and she notices. A blush forms either from her intake of wine or the coy smile he lets slip. He loves watching her like a voyeur looking into a secret world. She begins to enjoy his gaze. Soaking it in. Feeling his eyes move over her. Raking from her eyes down to her nose, cheeks, lips. The curve of her neck. Her shoulders to her chest, deeply into the tiny bit of cleavage just peeking out from her dress. Neither of them notice when the music stops. Still glancing at each other as they eat. Still he's watching her eat. Calmly bringing each morsel to her lips. There is pride in his smile as he watches the pleasure she takes into every bite. Her face amazingly expressive in every bite as if it all being the first.
She gazes at him over her glass only to catch him staring again. They continue on.
He offers her a refill of wine and she accepts because it is the best she has ever had. Rome had done something good for him. Time stands still. An eternity of them enjoying each other's company. Anyone can see the energy between them, it can strongly be felt. Something surreal happening in the short distance between them. Yet to them it's completely natural. Outside gathers darker as the dinner winds down. There's a spark in her eyes. Brown with a glint of gold. It's not from the candle light reflection. His eyes are calm and dark taking in all her light and keeping it for himself. They're done so he rises from the table and step over to her. He holds out his hand. She takes it and stands with him. Their lips touch and again they are almost out of breath. They part in quite laughter. Amused by their youthful enthusiasm.
Even in the dark the can read each other so clearly in this moment.
They're really going to enjoy this weekend.
