"Azara, they're still chasing us!" John shouted.
"Okay, we gotta lose these, bozos," Azara murmured. She bent down and picked up some sticks and tossed one two her brother. "John, help me draw a circle."
John stared at her, confused and completely lost. "I don't-"
"There's no time, hurry!" Azara urged him. She and John quickly started to draw a large circle in the dirt. John saw Azara drew draw in a strange symbol in the center as she finished. She got up and pulled him over to the bushes and hid. "When I give the signal, slam your hand on the spell circle."
"Azara, this is crazy! Magic is not real!" John yelled. Azara covered his mouth, telling him to be quiet. Footsteps got closer as Kikimora and the coven scouts approached, along with the two abomatons. The searched the area as they looked around trying to find Azara and John.
"Where are you, you brats!?" Kiki shouted,
"Right here!" Azara shouted and she and John rolled out from from the bushes and slammed their hands on the spell that was drawn on the ground.
"Huh?" Kiki screamed when a bright blinding light blinded her and the coven scouts. John stood in shock as he stared in awe and disbelief at what he had witnessed. He just did magic!
"Whoa," he replied, speechless.
"Yeah, cool! Magic! Time to go!" Azara quickly replied then dragged and pulled John away from the coven group before they noticed them.
The two of them arrived at the owl house and Azara opened the door while Hooty greeted her and she walked inside. She saw Luz sitting in the couch, waiting. Luz looked up, noticing Azara as she walked in.
"Azara, you're back!" Luz smiled walking over to her. Azara smiled back at her.
"Yeah, and I'm not alone as well," she told Luz. Luz saw a small boy hiding behind Azara and gasped.
"Is this your brother?" Luz asked, surprised. "How?"
"Long story short, he found the key and ended up here and is stranded the same way as I am," Azara explained. John came out from behind Azara then noticed King as he walked into the living room.
"Doggy!" John exclaimed, his eyes beaming happily. King's eyes widened as he saw the little boy run over to him and picked him up, squeezing him.
"Weh! No! Not again!" King shouted, as he tried to escape out of John's arms. Luz and Azara laughed as they watched the two. Then Luz turned to Azara, looking at her.
"Azara, I want to apologize for the way that I acted," she told her. Azara's eyes widened in surprise.
"You don't need to, Luz," she replied.
"Still, it's no excuse, for what I did," Luz shook her head. "Although, I am surprised, I'm also happy that your mastering the spells so quickly. If you want to continue, I'd like to teach you another spell?"
"I'd love to, but after the day I had today I need some rest," Azara smiled, tiredly. Luz raised her eyes at this in concern.
"What happened?" Luz asked.
"Well, I met someone and had a nice talk with them," Azara blushed. "Although, he sounded sad, lost, and confused with his life. I just hope that my words got through to him." Luz noticed and smirked.
"Ooh, is it somebody that I know?" She teased. Azara's face turned even more redder. "I'm not going to tell you!"
Luz gasped. "Is it a BAD boy?!"
"Luz! Stop!" Azara shouted. She wanted to crawl under a rock.
"Azara, you bad girl!" Luz smirked, teasing her more.
"I'm going to bed, good night!" Azara said, and quickly walked away heading to her room.
"You can teach my brother magic of you want?" She told her. "He can do it as well." Luz frowned as she narrowed her eyes confused.
"What do you mean by that?Wha-" Her eyes widened in shock to see John created a glowing ball of light that he had created out of thin air, using his hand. Her mouth dropped. John smiled taking the ball of lights on his hands, holding it.
"Look what I can do!" He laughed. Luz stared at him in disbelief.
He can do magic using his hands, like Azara! But, only witches with a bile sac can do that. Luz frowned, thinking completely confused.
It was the next day, the sun was shinning in the sky. Hooty was typing a letter as he banged his head on the typewriter.
"Dear Lulu, I hope that this letter finds you well and that you're enjoying your time with your parents. I'm writing to let you know that I am a genius. Whence I wrote to you last, I was in the throes of malaise. That's when I got your letter." He smiled and carried the letter in his mouth, heading towards the mail box and dropped it in. He saw that there was an letter inside that was addressed to him and opened it.
"Hello, Hootsifer, Your letter concerned me. You write feeling unimportant, while Luz, Eda, this new human, Azara, and King are off on adventures. But, Hooty, you are the owl house. You take care of everyone inside you. If that isn't a worthy purpose, then what is?"
"How are we doing, hoothouse!?" Hooty exclaimed, busting open the door as he glided in.
Eda, Azara and king were sitting on the couch. While Luz was sitting on another one, looking into a glass cage, with her face pressed against the glass, that had a small mouse creature inside that had a skull for a head.
"Can you keep it down? Down," King's voice cracked. He groaned in frustration."Down! Why does this keep happening?!"
"Sounds our little demon is becoming a deMAN!" Hooty smiled.
"Ugh, why does that sound so wrong coming from you!? You!" King replied, his voice cracking again. "Ah! I am done with this!" He yelled and jumped off the couch, running away. Azara watched as he ran away.
"I'm going to go check on King," she told them and got up, following after him.
"Those teens, eh? Their moods change like the wind!" Hooty commented. He gasped in shock, seeing Eda. She looked like she hadn't slept in days. She had giant bags under her eyes and they were being kept open with clothespins. Her hair was frazzled and a mess.
"I'm freaking out, Hooty," Eda said. "Belos, is planning something big and I'm weaker than a newborn witchling. And if I want to protect you guys, I have to train as hard as I can, no rest!"
"But, every time you overwork yourself, you turn into the owl beast," Hooty told her, worried.
"I said no rest!" Eda shouted, getting up from the couch walking away.
"Can you please be quiet! You're scaring the echo mouse," Luz called out. "And if he's not happy, I'll never make my way into Amity's heart." Her eyes widened, realizing what she had said. She stammered, nervously. "I mean make a portal back home! Uh, we have to go!"
"You were right, Lulu. These three needed my help!" Hooty said, determined. "So, I devised a plan of plans! Your words inspired me to help everyone, Lulu. So, I'll start with king!"
King was sitting at the table, reading and skimming through a book about demons. "Maybe, I'll figure out what of demon I am, I'll know what's going on," he sighed, disappointed. "But, nothing in here looks like me!"
"I'm sure you'll get your answers, King," Azara reassured him. "You just have to be patient and it'll come to you."
"But, I have been patient!" King yelled. "How long to I have to wait?!"
"King..." Azara replied, sadly. However, for them, Hooty was also listening in on their conversation. Azara and King hadn't noticed him.
"Our little bundle of joy is growing up and he had questions. As the only other demon in the house, I had answers." Hooty said to himself. "But, would be accept help from me? Never! Unless..." He quietly moved over to where King and Azara was and hovered above them. The two looked up to see Hooty's giant mouth coming down on them. The two screamed as they held each other as Hooty ate them.
Soon after, Hooty hacked up a giant black pellet and it fell onto the floor. King and Azara cringed as they pulled the wrappings off of them. They saw that they were in a dark basement.
"Did you owl pellet me?!" King shouted, angrily.
"I can't believe you ate me again!" Azara shouted as well.
"Are you angry, sweaty? Is your hair in places? Does your voice crack in a super embarrassing way? I have the answers that you seek!" They heard Hooty's voice. Suddenly, a bright light came on. The two saw posters, charts, and diagrams of different varieties of demons and their biology. "You're going through demon puberty!"
"Ugh, the last thing I want from you is a health class!" King groaned.
"This isn't a health class, it's an unholy test. To determine what kind of demon you are!" Hooty insisted.
"Really?" King asked, hopefully.
"Besides, I'm pretty sure I'm the only other demon here," Hooty nodded. "So what other choice do you have?"
"I'd say go for it," Azara replied.
"All right, what the heck!" King agreed.
"Yay!" Hooty cheered and started to explain to the two of them. "Our ancestors arose from the muck of the decomposing Titan. And they are so many of us! But, all demons can be placed in three categories: Bug, Biped, and beast!"
"Yeah, okay, everyone knows about the three beasts," King interrupted, uninterested.
"I haven't," Azara replied. Hooty quickly moved over to the two of them, getting right into their faces.
"Do not interrupt!" he shouted.
King and Azara nodded, nervously. Hooty continued his lecture.
"Now, I'm pretty sure that you're not a big but we can't rule anything out. As a rule of worm myself," Hooty explained, showing his long extended neck, wiggling it. "I'm an expert in this subject." He replied. "Let's begin!"
King and Azara two bug like demons near Hooty as they flew next to him. One looked like a butterfly while the other was a fairy.
"Bug types naturally communicate through dance!" Hooty told them. The fairy began to dance and they circled around the butterfly until they were finished with their dance. "Poetic!"
King stared at them unsure then started to do his own dance. Azara tried not to laugh but let out a small chuckle. She couldn't help it, it was too cute! However, Azara noticed that something was wrong. The two bug demons, had shocked looks on their faces and Hooty looked appalled as they stared at King in silence.
"DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT MY MOTHER!" Hooty screamed out loud, angrily. His feathers ruffled and he lunged at King, hissing, as he chased him. Azara quickly got into the middle of them, trying to separate Hooty and King.
King had a terrified look on his face. Hooty was next to him. "Well, your dance was offensive and your attempts to spin a cocoon was just sad, honestly."
"Can we just not talk about the cocoon?" King said, embarrassed.
"Okay, let's see if you're a Biped demon," Hooty said. "They walk on two legs and even have bile sacs, just like witches! So, for this test, you're going to have a duel with a little friend of mine!" He moved over to a small box in the corner and lifted it up. A small creature with a big nose walked out, reading a book.
"A scuffle, eh? All right, all right, let's do it!" King eagerly replied, ready. "Just, uh, don't get mad if you can't-" The creature let out a scream in rage and drew a spell circle with their finger. King was caught in a giant explosion from the fire spell.
"Wow, not a single spell, even bug demons have some magic!" Hooty shouted.
"It's fine, It's fine, let's just keep going!" King groaned, tiredly. Azara was trying to clean up his fur and brushing away some of it that was singed.
"Okay, okay, there's only one way to test for beast types," Hooty said. "I'm going to need a blood sample." King's and Azara's eyes widen in shock.
The big nosed creature pulled out a giant needle. "I graduated from medical school!" She jabbed King with the needle and he let out a loud screech in pain.
"King!" Azara shouted.
King and Azara were now at the top of the tower, awaiting for the results of the blood test. Hooty came up, from the door along with the small big nosed creature.
"After reviewing the results, we've come to a conclusion," Hooty said.
"Lay it on me. Beast, bug, I don't care," King shouted. "I just want to know what I am!"
"You..." King and Azara leaned in closer. Hooty smiled. "Are you!" Hooty placed birthday hats on King and Azara, then on himself and the small big nose creature, while they carried out a cake. Streamers, confetti, and balloons fell from above. King and Azara stared at him, confused, and with disappointed looks on their faces.
"Huh?"
"The blood tests were inconclusive. We don't really know what you are," Hooty frowned as he told them then smiled. "But, that's okay! Cause we don't need to know that to be your friends!"
"I thought you had real answers," King replied, get sadder. Azara's eyes widen.
"The only real answer is inside your heart," Hooty smiled as he moved over to King.
"I don't need you tell me to love myself, Hooty!" King shouted, angrily. "I want to know where I came from. What my dad looked like, what I'll look like when I grow up." He stared at himself in the reflection of a puddle on the ground.
"I didn't get any responses yet, or my wanted posters," He told them. "Maybe, my dad is gone. Maybe, there's no one else like me and I'll live my whole life without any answers!"
"King..." Azara walked over to him, sitting down next to him. She picked him up and hugged him. He squirmed out of her arms, pulling away from her.
"No! I didn't want to make you mad!" Hooty said, shaking his head sadly.
"Well, I am mad! At him for not being here!" King shouted in anger. "He left me, ALONE!"
Suddenly, he let out a loud screech that made an sonic boom, exploding everything in it's path. It popped all of the balloons, and erupted the cake, destroying it. It pushed back Azara, knocking her down. She sat up and stared at King with a shocked look.
"King, what was THAT?!" she exclaimed.
"Huh?" King's eyes widen as he stared down at his hands. He was stunned as well. "I-I don't know..."
"Oh, no. Now, I'm sad too." Hooty sighed.
"At least the cake was good!" the creature replied.
"It was supposed to be a crumble!" Hooty cried. He shot down from the door, leaving. King and Azara ran over to the edge of the tower, looking down.
"Hooty!" Azara shouted. The tower began to shake as well as the owl house as Hooty tried to free himself from the door.
"I can't help anyone! I did it again! OUT! OUT! VILE OWL!" He cried. "RID THIS HOUSE OF THY SELF!"
"Hooty!" Azara shouted. "Stop!"
"Hooty, calm down, you ding dong!" King shouted. Hooty didn't hear them, and manged to pull himself out of the door.
"Never shall I guess this house with my odious presence, again!"
The shockwave headed towards the tower, knocking King and Azara off from the tower. Azara managed to grab onto the edge just before they had fell, but the two were now dangling and hanging off from it. King was hanging onto Azara's shirt but slipped off. Azara grabbed onto his hand. John walked out of the house, now awake and rubbing his eyes. He stopped and saw Azara and King hanging from the tower.
"Azara!" King and John both shouted worried.
"King, hold on!" Azara yelled out.
"I will! You're one who better hold on or else we're both going to fall!" He told her.
"Ugh! This is not happening!" Azara groaned as she felt her fingers beginning to slip one by one. "Curse, my upper body strength!"
Azara lost her grip and King and her were now falling, heading towards the ground. Something shot out and managed to grab the two of them, just before they were about to splat on the ground. Eda had caught them! King and Azara stared in shock and in surprise at her new form. Her hair had grown longer, eyes were black but with gold irises, she had wings sprouted from her back, and her feet and arms had changed into claws and talons.
"Eda?" King asked, still in shock.
"Whoa, Eda what happened to you?" Azara asked.
"Don't worry, I think it's a good thing!" Eda smiled. "But, where's Luz?"
The three looked down to see Luz and another girl with short purple hair, wearing a black dress, and shoes, with crescent moon designs on them. Around her neck, was a moon necklace in a near phase of an eclipse. Azara assumed that she must have been Amity that Luz had mentioned before.
"What's going on?" Amity asked, confused.
"I don't know, but things always gets weird when Hooty's upset!" Luz told her. Up above them, a piece of the tower started to crumble, about to fall on them. Azara gasped.
"Luz! Luz! Run!" King shouted. The
"NOOOO!" King roared. He made another sonic boom and it shattered the brick, destroying it.
"Did you do that?" Eda asked, shocked.
"I-I think I did?" King stammered. He laughed, happily and cheered. "I think I got a power!" Eda flew down, while carrying King and Azara and landed near the two girls.
"Are you two, okay?" she asked.
"Whoa," Amity gasped.
"Not as okay as you! Dang girl!" Luz smiled. "I have a few questions for later!"
"Hi! You must be Amity!" Azara smiled as she walked over to her, holding out her hand. "I'm Azara! Luz has told me a lot about you-" Luz's eyes widened.
"Oh..." she let out a flustered groan.
"Hello?" Amity smiled, confused, not knowing who Azara was, shaking her hand.
"Hey, did you know that she really likes-"Luz eyes widened when Azara was about finish. However, a piece from the tower fell and landed on Azara, knocking her down and unconscious.
"Azara!" King and John shouted, running over to her. John tried to shake her awake, but she was out cold.
"She'll be fine," Luz told him.
"I failed you all! I failed you all!" Hooty cried as he failed about.
"Come on, Hooty! You actually weirdly helped me!" Eda tried to reassure him, to calm him down. "I'm like a harpy woman now!"
"And I can explode things with my voice powers!" King said, happily.
"But I still failed Luz!" Hooty cried.
"Luz, what was Hooty trying to do?" Eda asked.
"Quick! Pretend he helped you, before he destroys everything!" King shouted. Luz motioned Eda to come closer to her. Eda moved closer covering Luz with with her wing, so Amity couldn't hear her.
"He was trying to help me ask Amity out," Luz whispered. Eda's eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh, whoa, do you wanna?" she asked. Luz glanced over at Amity then looked back at Eda, blushing. She nodded.
"Then do it!" Eda insisted, smiling. Luz cringed, gesturing over to Hooty.
"Like this? she asked. The owl beast was crying his eyes out as he rolled on the ground.
"Yeah, I hear ya." Eda replied. "I might be able to help. It won't be perfect but, huh, does it really need to be? Good luck, kid!"
She took King and flew off, heading over to Hooty. Luz turned back to Amity.
"Amity," the ground broke around Amity and Luz knocking them both down.
"Oh my gosh, Amity, are you okay?" Luz asked, worried, as she rushed over to her.
"I'm alright," Amity assured her. Luz smiled nervously and cupped her hands together, trying to figure out what to say.
"I was just-I've been wanting to ask you something for awhile, but I wanted to do it in the best way and in the tunnel of love I thought, Amity's too cool for this," she said. Amity smiled softly, moving her hair back behind her ear.
"I'm not as cool as you think," she replied. Luz continued.
"Okay, everything's so crazy right now and I have no idea what my future holds but it would be so cool if you were in it." she said. "So, uh..." she stumbled over her words.
"Do you wanna go out with me?!" Amity quickly blurted out, barely able to contain her excitement any longer. Luz groaned and face palmed her forehead, embarrassed.
"No, I wasn't ready!" she answered. Amity blushed even more.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you can say it!" she urged her. Luz sighed and took in a deep breath. She looked at Amity directly into her eyes, smiling.
"Okay, Amity Blight do you want to go out with me?!" Luz asked.
"YES!" Amity exclaimed, happily.
"OKAY!" Luz smiled, happy as well. The two looked at each other unsure of what to do next. Luz held out her hand and Amity took it and they were now holding each other's hand. Luz rubbed her thumb on Amity's finger.
"Why is this still so scary?" Luz asked.
"I don't know... " Amity stammered, scared as well.
Above them, Hooty, Eda and King were watching the whole time. Hooty was crying with tears of joy, while Eda and King smiled.
"Dang Hooty, you really are something!" Eda replied as she and King, looked down and Amity and Luz. They were surrounded in a giant heart shaped crater in the ground.
"King may not know where he came from, but he's learning more and more about himself everyday!"
"Azara, well, she and I are becoming friends, slowly, but surely. Despite the fact that I ate her. Again."
"Eda can become harpy Eda now. She still drinks her elixir but she's accepted the owl beast as apart of her! Its progress!"
"And Luz's new gf showed her tips and tricks to get more information from that old human's diary! They're adorable and deserve all the happiness! I had to promise to never help any ever again but nevertheless I'm a genius!" Hooty finished typing his letter as he banged his head on the typewriter. He took the letter and moved over to the mail box, putting his letter to Lilith into it.
"Everything solved, no more mysteries!" Hooty exclaimed.
"I beg your pardon," A deep voice called out. A giant beast that looked like King, but with wings, approached Hooty. "Will you see that this finds it's way to King Clawthorne?" He laid a black letter down on a rock and walked away. Hooty gasped as he looked down at it. A bug was crawling on the letter.
"OH MY GOSH A BUG!" Hooty shouted, smiling. He swallowed the bug whole, and unfortunately King's letter as well.
"Whoopsy, I hope that was junk mail!"
