In the Slytherin Dormitory

The sun was up and so was Draco. Actually he couldn't even remember that he slept last night. He was thinking of the plan to make the Gryffindor Princess fall in love with him and he was nowhere. He didn't even bother to go in his room instead he spent the night on the couch. He spent all his eight hours of sleepless night in vain.

"Fuck, I'm stuck in this shitty situation" Draco groaned as he sat up on the couch.

Draco thought that this whole mess was his fault. He shouldn't have accepted the sodding dare. But wait, his pride would have been sacrificed if he did so. After all, he was a Malfoy and Malfoys don't lose against some wankers. So he gave himself a reassuring nod and told himself that he did right by accepting the dare.

And now he has to make the brunette fall in love with him. But the question was how?

It would had been simple as a cake if it was some other girl because most girls are desperate to be Draco's girlfriend. But here the case is quite complicated. That girl wasn't some ordinary girl. She was Gryffindor…heck she was Hermione freaking Granger. And that bloody makes the task most complicated.

She was the girl who was loved by everyone but Draco. She was the girl whose mere existence made Draco's blood boil. She was the girl whom Draco taunted for years. She was a muggle born. After the war, Draco stopped calling muggleborns 'mudblood' but he still thought them as inferior to himself. And last but not least, she had two bodyguards around her everywhere she went – Potter and Weasley.

'Oh this is a fucking nightmare' Draco held his face in his hands.

"I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" Draco glanced up to find Blaise standing in front of him.

"Oh no, I was just thinking about –"

"The dare?" Blaise completed the statement before he could finish.

Draco nodded and sighed.

"You have gotten yourself in a mess, Draco" Blaise said to his friend.

"You think I don't know that? Instead of mocking me, can you be of some help?" Draco looked at his friend with a frown.

"See Draco, Granger isn't any girl. This is going to be tough call. You have to gain her trust first in order to move further" Blaise said with a frown.

Draco scoffed. Trust. Of course, this is mission impossible.

Suddenly Draco thought of something. Oh yes, he figured it out. Trust, yes that's what he has to do.

"Blaise I think I have a plan" Draco beamed at his friend.

Blaise looked at the blonde guy in confusion and eyebrows raised. He knew that whatever Draco was thinking was not at all good.

"And what it is, may I ask?" Blaise asked the guy sitting beside him.

"I have to split my plan into phases to make it work." Draco continued. "Phase one - I have to make her believe that I'm no enemy. Phase two – I have to make her comfortable in my presence. Phase three – She has to think of me as a friend. Phase four – Make her fall in love. Phase five – Ditch her. See, that easy."

Blaise gave him a short smile but he knew that it's easier done than say. Draco was doomed and that was sure. He knew that this wasn't going to end well.

In the Gryffindor Dormitory

Hermione woke up with a smile from the chirping of birds. She had slept well last night. But the smile immediately vanished when she remembered that she had a fight with her room-mates. She didn't have any intension to shout at them.

She headed for the bathroom with hundreds of thoughts in her mind. On the way, she bumped into someone.

She looked up to find Ginny standing in front of her, "Sorry…oh, Ginny"

Hermione expected yelling or atleast a huff but nothing came.

"It's ok, Hermione" Ginny smiled at her.

"Gin, about yesterday….I didn't-" Hermione's words were interrupted by Ginny.

"Hermione, it's not at all your fault. I realized that I shouldn't have asked such question" Ginny continued. "Your outburst was natural. So we all are on good terms?""

"Oh, Gin" Hermione hugged the red-head with tears in her eyes to which the Weasley returned the gesture.

In the Muggle Studies Class

Hermione, with her friends, took her usual seat in the front. The class was about to start and almost everyone was seated. She turned around to look at Theo, who was talking to Blaise about something. She recalled the memories of last night. She noticed that he was looking quite better.

Theo turned around to look at Pansy, who just entered the class, and found Hermione looking at him. He looked in her direction and his lips turned into a smirk.

Hermione noticed Theo smirk and then she realized that she was staring at him. She suddenly turned to face Ginny.

Professor Barbarage entered the class and greeted everyone to which everyone returned the gesture.

"Where's Draco?" Theo asked in a whisper to his friends.

"I don't know" Pansy mouthed and Blaise just shrugged in response.

The professor cleared her throat and everyone looked at her.

"Ok class today we'll discuss about Muggle Literature" She told the students. "So, who has already read Pride and Prejudice?"

Many hands shot up in the air including Hermione and Theo's.

"Very good" She smiled at the number of hands. "And what do you think about the book?""

Some hands were withdrawn and now a few hands were seen in the air.

The Professor looked around at the students who had their hands still raised up. She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by someone.

"May I come in, Professor?" Draco asked standing at the doorway of the class.

Everyone's head shot up in his direction. Hermione rolled her eyes at Draco.

The professor looked at him for a few seconds and then gave a nod.

Draco quickly started marching towards his seat. On the way, he looked at Hermione for a split second, which she didn't even notice. He took his seat beside Theo and exhaled the air out.

"Let's ask our new comer about his views on Pride and Prejudice" The professor looked at Draco. "Mr. Malfoy?"

Draco looked up when his name was called, "Pride and Prejudice?"

Before continuing, Draco made himself in his seat, "Elizabeth Bennet needs to chill"

Everyone gave a slight chuckle at his statement but Hermione narrowed her eyes at him.

Draco continued, "She gave Darcy a way worse time than he deserved"

The professor looked at him in curiosity, "Are you saying that Darcy was not in love with Elizabeth?"

Draco leaned forward in his seat, "Love is just a transaction"

Hermione looked at him with disgust.

"We are all hard-wired to desire. We present the correct set of desirable traits and boom" He continued leaning back in his seat. "We can turn it on and we can turn it off"

Hermione raised her hand as soon as he finished speaking.

"Yess, Miss Granger?" The professor gave her permission to speak.

"I think that it was the most revolutionary feminist novel that I've ever read."

Theo looked at her with amusement and Draco narrowed her eyes at her.

Hermione continued, "That a woman of that era would have the strength to reject Darcy when he treated her poorly"

Draco scoffed, "That's a load"

Hermione turned back to look at him.

"It was Darcy's very attitude that attracted Elizabeth to him" Draco said looking at Hermione.

"Darcy's attitude was rude and mocking and I think he was lucky to be with a woman with as much integrity as Elizabeth"

Draco spoke just as her sentence was completed, "The only reason he even asked her to marry him because she wouldn't stop throwing herself-"

"Throwing herself at him?" Hermione interrupted him. "He was pursuing her-"

"She's clearly not satisfied with her life and is looking for excitement wherever she can get it" This time Draco interrupted her.

Everyone was looking back and forth between Draco and Hermione.

"Well, I think it's obviously all in his head that she had any feelings for him at all"

This time Draco was surprised by her statement.

"'Well" The professor started talking. "There you have it. That's the power of a good book"

Draco was still looking at Hermione in amusement. And Theo was astonished by her statements.

Everyone was looking at Hermione and Draco in disbelief. Both of them were arguing without any insults…..well that was new and on the contrary Pansy was looking at Hermione in disgust.

Professor Barbage talked about the book in detail and then gave a few assignments before the class got over.

Everybody started packing their as soon as the class got over. Hermione stood up to leave but someone called her from the back.

"Hey, Granger" Theo shouted.

Hermione turned back to find Theo coming towards her.

"What happened?" Hermione asked him as he stopped in front of her.

"That…with Draco was awesome"

Hermione blushed a little and said with a slight smirk, "Thank you. I happen to like excelling in everything"

Theo grinned at her, "Of course. I gotta go but don't forget our patrol in the evening"

Hermione nodded and Theo turned back to walk away. He gave a two finger salute and marched away.

"Oh, I see someone has got an admirer" Hermione heard someone say this to her.

She turned back to find Ginny smirking at her.

"No, Ginny. It's nothing" Hermione defended herself.

"Oh I see" Ginny replied still the smirk plastered to her face.

"Listen, we are heads so we just sort of agreed to a truce" Hermione argued back.

Ginny opened her mouth to say something but closed it immediately when she saw the view upon Hermione's shoulder.

Hermione looked at Ginny in confusion and followed her gaze. When she turned around she found Draco standing there. She was surprised to see him there. What in Godric's name was he doing there?

Draco cleared her throat, "Granger, if you don't mind I need a favor"

Hermione widened his eyes too hear the words. She couldn't figure out what did he want from her?

Ginny saw that Hermione wasn't responding so she nudged her at the elbow. Hermione came back from her reverie.

"Oh…of course. How can I help you?" Hermione managed to say.

"I… I need your potions notebook. I'm lagging in the assignments"

"Oh…sure" Hermione said and took out her notebook and handed it to him.

'Oh fuck, what do people say now? Oh yeah…' Draco thought and said, "Thank you"

"Welcome" Hermione said to him.

Draco nodded and turned back and took a step but stooped and then he turned back again.

"And Granger, I understand Darcy was a douchebag but Elizabeth wasn't a saint herself" After saying this, he turned back and walked away.

Hermione took a minute to understand what the hell just happened.

"Wow Hermione, you have got two admirers" Ginny said in a surprised tone.

"What? No! He just wanted my notebook" Hermione said in frustration.

"Ok relax. I won't say a word about this" Ginny put her hands in the air.

Hermione nodded and started walking to her History class which fortunately wasn't with the Slytherins group. Because she couldn't tolerate any more Slytherins in a single day.

In the DADA class

The Slytherins had DADA class with the Hufflepuffs now while the Grffindors had History with the Ravenclaws.

Draco walked inside the class and took his seat beside Blaise.

"So, what do you think?" Blaise asked Draco.

"It's very tough. I have to work real hard" Draco said with a sigh.

"What's very tough?" Theo said from the back.

Both Draco and Blaise didn't see him coming. If Theo got to know about this dare, then he would be hella mad.

"The…the potion's essay" Blaise blurted out. Gosh, he hated lying.

Theo nodded and sat down beside them.

Pansy entered the class and looked at the boys. Theo waved his hand in a gesture to call her but she turned away and sat with Millicent.

"What's up with her?" Theo asked the two boys.

"I don't know" Blaise answered but he probably knew the reason.

"I'll ask her later" Draco answered looking at pansy who was ignoring him.

The professor entered the class and everyone turned their attention to him.
