After leaving Venice, defeating the Elite Guards, Gundham and Nekomaru, the rest of The NEW Gang arrive at the airport, heading for the Isle of Sardinia, as they are closer to learning of the true identity of The Boss, whom have met Zenjuro Okuma, 15 years ago, before Tanukichi was born.
Upon arrival at Marco Polo International Airport, they found a white aircraft in the hangar. Beth examined the air with her newly-minted Aero-Bunny, her Spirit Caller from Ayame Kajou, looking for any signs of enemies. June uses her powers to examine the ship.
"I'm not detecting any life forms of any kind. We should be good to go." June said.
Kana replied, "Good. It's our plane now. You're to keep everything away from this plane, living or otherwise."
They were to make sure that the enemy cannot ambush them from out of nowhere, even if it takes the form of a cockroach or a gnat.
Kana instructed, "Once we're off the ground, we'll be flying at about 800 kilometers an hour, and at an altitude of 7,000 meters. By then, we'll be able to reach Sardinia. With our speed, at about thousands of miles per hour, no Stand can give chase at us, at that height and speed. So, we're ready?"
The NEW Gang's next stop - Sardinia. And with it, the clue on The Boss's true identity, which is a way to stop her, once and for all. Kana also added that they'll make it to Sardinia in two hours. All the time they got.
Act V: Episode 10, Chapter 3: The Plane Ride from Hell!
The MasterCook!
Emily was viewing the cockpit, as Prog Tech plays the pilot. Mossan said, "Everything's working in steady shape."
Emily said, "Yeah, no one managed to tamper with the controls."
Pets asked, "Wait, are you sure you want Prog Tech to pilot this thing? How do you even know that the pilot took a flight to Sardinia?"
Emily said, "There's a thing called I.N.S. Apparently, you put your destination in the plane's computer, and it automatically takes you there. Once Mossan finds the I.N.S., we'll be good to go."
Pets asked, "How did you know this?"
Emily said, "Saw it in a movie. I'm not into this sort of pilot technology, but this is new to me. I've rode on a plane, but never actually saw the cockpit."
Kana asked, "Well, Mossan, Maynard, how did it go?"
Mossan said, "We're good to go, Kana. But as for taking off, it may take ten minutes."
Tanukichi was seated, until he saw the pant leg of Kana. It had a huge cut on her right calf, but it's not bleeding.
"Kana's right leg… She's injured. But she's not bleeding out. I know she injured it, when she saved me. How can a gash that deep cannot gush out blood? Kana Koumoto's really something."
PING!
Beth called out, "Hey, guys! We got company! Someone's coming this way!"
Nanao was outside, as she spotted a short pudgy man in a white chef's uniform. She walked forward and smiled, "Haaaaaah… What a lovely day."
Nanao asked, "Eh? Who is this? He seems a bit friendly." She called, "Scusi! May I ask for your name?"
The chef grinned, "Hmm… Well, well, you're a pretty little robot girl. It's nice to finally meet you, sexy droid." He brushed his brown hair.
Nanao was disgusted, as she beeped, "Red alert! Enemy approaching! One already knows I am an android."
Kana growled, "Damn! Another of The Boss's guards, I believe?"
Nanao called, "Hold it! I mean you no harm, but if you continue to resist, I will take you down!" She aimed at the chef, as he showed no hesitation. The chef grinned, as he winked to the girls.
Beth asked, "Who the hell is that?"
Pets called, "I don't know… But he knows about the robot. So, that means…"
June said, "We were followed. Nanao, kill him!"
He walked forward, as Nanao said, "I cannot! He's stepping forward, but…"
He grinned, "Well, how about I rub those milky white robot thighs-!"
BANG!
He was shot in the leg, as Nanao cried, "PERVERT!" She barked, as she reloaded, "What part of get lost or get dead do you not understand? Your kind does not belong here, and for treating me like I am your sex doll! Walk away, or I will paint the runway with your blood! I am done being nice to you, because you work for The Boss, YES or NO? But I believe it is YES, because you know who I am! I want your name, and I am giving you two choices: walk away, or be dead. Kana Koumoto gave me orders, and I must obey my orders! Killing you is wrong, but I have no choice!"
The chef was stunned, as he was injured. He summoned his Stand and roared, "Why ya ugly robot gurl! Dare ya try ta shoot me widda wristgun! PARIS HILTON!"
Pets cried, "HE'S A STAND USER! WATCH OUT!"
Nanao prepared, "Fine. Eliminate all enemies! Octo-Eros, attack!"
She fired with her Octo-Eros, and shot bullets at the chef. The chef screamed, as he was killed instantly. Nanao called, "And that was for calling me ugly, sir! Uncouth of you! June Nevins, Tomomi Hetada, he has been neutralized. If he is still breathing, you finish him for me."
Beth examined him and said, "Nope, you got him. He's deader than driftwood. I don't see anyone else here with him. So, we're good to go."
June approached him, but Nanao said, "Step away, June Nevins. He's dead. We have to go."
June said, "Yes, I know that. But… It almost seems like we won out of coincidence. We can't be too careful. Don't you think it was too easy? It felt like he wanted us to kill him."
Nanao gasped, "Huh? June Nevins, how can it be easy? It was easy, because I have improved my functions as your ally. Besides, he sucks, and we do not."
All 8 Eros replied, "Yeah! Ya goddamn right!"
June felt his body and said, "No question. He's dead, and he has no pulse. We cannot revive him at all. Even so, why would he appear, out of the blue, and try to attack us?"
Pets called, "Nanao, June, hurry up! We're about to take off!"
Nanao said, "Our plane ride is about to depart. Please hurry."
June headed to the plane, as they took off to the sky.
Up above the skies, everyone was flying to Sardinia. Okuma was by the window, as he was wondering. He said to Kana, "I wonder if my father… no… I wonder if your boss… knew each other in Sardinia. I never knew you'd know something from our past, just to uncover the truth."
Kana said, "Former boss… We're done, with him and his madness." He gasped, as she explained, "Insofar as her machinations go, she's shrewd. Assuming she has predicted our plan, this information is even more vital. I suspect that at the time she met your father, she wasn't yet a mafioso in hiding. NO. She was an ordinary woman. She joined the mafia, sometime later, which means something from her previous life will tell us who she really was, fifteen years ago. At the time, you were only a child. And you were the only person to find that something. Can you think back of anything from your childhood that can remember who she was?"
He said, "No. I was only a child, and never knew about her. Only Sophia Nishikinomiya… but… She told me of a place that my father knew of. Cala di Volpe."
Kana asked, "Cala di Volpe? The Bay of the Fox?"
He said, "Yes. It's a resort on the Costa Smeralda. Sophia told me it was where they met, while he was on vacation. She also told me that he took a holiday on Sardinia, when I was only 2, and my mother watched over me, during that time. He never mentioned her, your ex-boss. But he spoke with a Sardinia dialect. Then she up and vanished. Dad never mentioned it to Mom or me, since; not even her name. It was like he'd forgotten her. That was long before he was arrested by Sophia and the Decency Squad… and way long before I joined the Decency Nation Capital… and quit."
He turned away and sighed, "That's all I know. Beyond that, I am at a loss. Besides, it's just reminiscing about a horrible past, before I met Anna… and Ayame… and before I met you guys."
"You're the only Okuma left that knows the Boss. You threatened your anonymity, which is why she wants to find you and end you." She sighed, "So, Cala di Volpe. Our first lead."
Suddenly, rattling noises were made, as June heard it. It came inside a small white cabinet, as she called, "Nanao… You might wanna get your gun ready."
Nanao asked, "What's wrong?"
June whispered, "Listen." They listened to the sound, as Beth asked, "Eh? What's going on?"
June called, "Just be ready! I don't know what, but-."
Nanao cried, "Hold on! Did you not just say earlier that there was not even a cockroach in this plane?"
"Yeah, I did." June replied, "But…"
Nanao asked, "So, a long-distanced Stand has appeared onboard? June Nevins, that is highly illogical."
June said, "I'm sure it is, but I'm pretty sure that it was something concerning. I'm opening the cabinet. Be ready."
Beth said, "Right… Nanao, trust in June. I don't believe that it's a false alarm."
Nanao asked, "Eh? False alarm? But the plane has no other life force inside."
Beth said, "We can't be too careful. June, open."
June opened the cabinet, and then suddenly, all it was inside was a freezer. June sighed, "Forgive me, guys. I thought for sure it was an enemy."
Nanao gasped, "No, not that! What the hell is this? There are chicken scraps in the freezer, under the ice cubes."
They looked down, and Beth gasped, seeing the bones, "Eugh! I don't think it was chicken!"
Nanao cried, "HUH? Those are… human fingers? And they are fresh from the hand. But where did it come from, and how?"
June said, "I don't know. This doesn't add up. I checked the plane. NO ONE was inside, not even any life energy waves. This plane is empty, before we boarded it."
Nanao analyzed it, "Wait a minute… Those fingers… They are from the pervert from before, the one I killed!" She gasped, "ERROR! Another finger!"
Kana called, "HEY! What's going on, over there? Something I should know?"
They all examined the fridge, as Kana said, "June, are you sure that you detect no life signs inside the plane, before we board it? Nanao examined it and said that there are three severed fingers inside. But now, there are four. How is this happening? Are they not giving energy at all?"
June examined the fingers, "No. They're inanimate. If they were animate, or a form of a Stand or Spirit, then Devil Princess's power wouldn't work. Plant life would never sprout from them."
Nanao said, "But I am curious, and also repulsed. Why are there fingers in the plane?"
Kana said, "That's what I like to know. Someone planted these fingers here. But how and who is not of our concern. They have to go."
Beth cried, "WAIT! We can't, while we're airborne! If we open the door, we'll get sucked out like a vacuum!"
Kana summoned Alt R.C. and cried, "Hold on tight to something!" They braced themselves, and Kana opened a portal, sucking the cabinet away. Kana smiled, "Well, the job's done, and nary a soul flung."
They sighed in relief, as Kana called, "Check every crevice on this plane! Make sure there are no more disturbances like before!"
They managed to search the plane, and come up with nothing. As June relaxed, she saw some writing on the plane. It said "Vorrei mangiare una pizza margaerita". ("I would like to eat a margherita pizza".)
June sighed, "Yeah, I could go for pizza, too… But nothing too complicated. I prefer pizza in America, more than Italy, especially Napoli." She relaxed, but saw more writing.
"Cazzo!" "Crepa!" "Devo tagliarhi peli del naso." ("I have to cut nose hair.")
"Nose hair?!" June thought, "What the heck is this, a train station stall? What's with the graffiti? Isn't this some rich guy's plane?"
She gasped, seeing more writing. "Noi vogliamo andare in Sardegna". ("We want to go to Sardinia") She cried, "What the hell is going on here?" She opened a glove compartment, next to her, and more graffiti!
"Potremmo essere diyoroti da un morto. Aiutateci. Quel poveraccio è stato buttato via come uno straccio. Se ne andato imprecando. Proprio l'odio è la sua fonte di energia. È una energia che si genera dopo essere morto. Un'energia che neanche lui stesso aveva mai visto. È gia un morto. Perico non possiamo ucciderlo."
"Il nome del Stand nemico è…" June translated it, "The name of that Stand is… … … Master Cook…" She cried, "Who in the hell wrote this? And when? What would it gain from this?" She saw her name at the bottom and cried, "WHAT?"
Her right hand bulged, as it showed reddish fingers, covered in blood, as she cried, "These fingers! No! It can't be! Kana threw them outside! We didn't touch them! Is this what wrote the graffiti?" She then remembered it was the pervert's doing. She thought, "Impossible! The guy's dead, and so is his Stand! But the Stand is still alive! This is impossible! Merda! It's feeding on my body!" She cried, "DEVIL PRINCESS! HACK OFF MY RIGHT ARM, FAST!"
She swung down, but her right arm flew off, like it was moving on its own. She cried, "WHAT THE-?"
The arm fell, as he was being devoured. She cried, "What the hell? It's feeding on my arm!"
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Nanao shot it off, as she said, "Hey, June Nevins, it would be wise to build a replacement arm."
XXXXX
Minutes later, she replaced her right arm, and Kana said, "What happened?"
June said, "Forget everything you know about Stands." She explained, "It had a mind of its own. We've never seen this before."
"This is madness! If that user is a Stand, then the user is somewhere aboard the plane!"
"No… I know who it is… or was… The chef we met, that's his Stand."
They gasped, as Nanao cried, "But… But the pervert's dead! I shot at him!"
June replied, "I knew there was something about him. He knew he would die, so he set up the whole thing, and let his Stand hunt us down from the skies! I must've got caught by it, when I examined it… Damn it! How did I miss that?" She continued, "His death activated his Stand! It has no user, so it can keep up, while being tethered to a person!"
Beth smiled, "Don't worry, Sis! It's slow, so it has to be dead!"
Nanao beeped, "N-No… It is… feeding…" The others gasped, as Pets cried, "Oh, no! What happened to you?"
"It's feeding… onto me…" she moaned, "We… saved June Nevins' arm, but… this thing was too quick! It got my Eros…"
She collapsed, as Beth cried, "Nanao!" She thought, "Luckily, we were able to have June's right arm replaced… but why on a robot?" She gasped, as she cried, "It got Octo-Eros?!"
Eros 5 cried, "Numbers 2, 3, 7, 9!" Nanao added, "It's… too close! It's deadly!"
Pets cried, "NO! It's got Nanao!" It went close to Pets, as June asked, "Why is it going after Pets? What's going on here?"
Kana called, "NO! Stay back! Don't get too close to it, everyone! It's deadly! STAY BACK!"
Beth called, "HAH! She says not to get close? I don't need to, once I have my secret weapon!"
She summoned Aero-Bunny and fired at the Stand. But Master Cook evaded the bullets, and some absorbed into it. Beth gasped, "Aw, come on!" It chased after her, as June whispered, "No… It moves, upon movement?! It is detecting speed!"
Beth thought, "Dammit! That meat monster of a Stand is going to devour me!" It wrapped around Aero-Bunny, but Beth withdrew it. Only she screamed, as she coughed out a little blood.
Kana called, "Okuma, hide in the closet, and hurry!" He dashed off, but the Master Cook chased after him. Okuma stopped and gasped, as Kana screamed, "NO!"
June used her right arm to signal to the Stand. It wrapped around her right arm, and then said, "I understand now. It's movement! If we move fast, it'll strike like a snake! That explains how it chooses us! The more swiftly its target moves, the more it goes after its prey!"
She smashed the window, and severed her right arm off. She thought, "Sorry I had to rebuild my right arm already, but sacrifices must be made!" She cried, "If we get this off my arm, we would make it to Sardinia!"
Kana cried, "NO! WAIT! Your powers recover injuries! How can you do it without both arms?"
June called, "You forget? I quickly recovered my right arm, but it doesn't seem to heal up quickly, than before! And Nanao's offline! So I had no choice!"
"Latch it onto me, June!"
"There's no time!"
"NO, DON'T DO IT!"
SNAP!
June's new right arm snapped off, and the Stand flew away into the blue sky.
Kana closed the portal, as June collapsed in pain. Pets said, "Thank goodness."
Kana nodded, "A noble move… but all for naught." She cried, "OH, GOD! JUNE?"
XXXXX
Minutes passed, as Kana was worried. June has her left arm still, but she was out cold. Kana said, "This can't be. Sardinia is within our reach. Nanao and Beth… They suffered injuries, too… Thank goodness she thought twice. But this isn't happening." She moaned, "All this happened, because of me… Nanao's damaged, and Beth is unconscious. June Nevins, she almost lost her other arm, yet she was always one step ahead. And I ignored every pitfall that came to me…"
Nanao was being fixed up by Pets, while Beth lies on the ground, lifeless. Kana whispered, "I led my team to this plane, and this is what happened. This is my mistake to own."
Okuma said, "Don't say that. No one could've anticipated this. Not even you. June thought hard, and went reckless, and she only used one arm. Being on this plane granted us the opportunity to make it to Sardinia. They can defeat the Stand, if they can."
Kana said, "Well, Maynard will fix them all up, starting with Kashima. They'll be at the turtle."
He asked, "Wait! I want to know. Her arms, they can be replaced, right? Her Devil Princess can do that."
Kana said, "Yes. However, I was careless to think she used her left arm, yet she didn't. Devil Princess can do that, albeit it's not a Stand. But… Devil Princess and Alt R.C. can only actuate their powers with direct contact to their hands. June lost her right hand, but one arm isn't enough. Neither of us have ever suffered damage like this. June Nevins is out of commission, for now, as well as Nanao and Beth. June's already passed out, but it is unclear if she'll recreate a new arm with just her left. Okuma, we're not out of the woods yet, but you should get some rest. I'll bring up the news to Mossan and Maynard, in a moment."
She and Pets went to the cockpit, as Okuma was upset. He sighed, as he said, "I'm traveling to Sardinia, for my own benefit. For mine alone… I have to know the truth, for my father." He moaned, "All of this bloodshed… because I wanted to know… but June and the others. They're not concerned of their own safety. They believe in what is right and just. As I am… I'm not like them… I don't think I am…"
He heard a noise, as he whispered, "What was that?" He looked out the window, and asked, "Why is there a ball out there?"
He grabbed a knife, to protect himself, and walked slowly, "What the-?" He saw through the wing and said, "Nothing…" He sighed in relief, as a blob appeared on the window. He shrieked, as it went through. It devoured the knife, as he thought, "WHAT? What the hell is that thing? How did it survive the flight away? Impossible!"
It was Master Cook! It survived the flight. Okuma said, "Wait! June said that it is attracted to movement! We're on an airplane at high speeds. And it draws on any object to whatever that is the fastest! That explains why it went after the knife!" He saw the Stand, which is a purple and red Crawfish creature, half-crawfish, half-lobster.
"I have to get to the closet now… but slowly…" he thought, as he crept away.
Master Cook bulged, and then went to Okuma, but it went slowly to an unknown object. He thought, "Where is it going?" He saw a small red beanbag, producing a right hand. He whispered, "Wait… Was that a hand? It's… It's pulsating. Was this… June's doing, after she severed her right arm? I can't believe it. She truly is one step ahead of herself! June must've found a way to recreate new limbs, before she fell into unconsciousness! Before she severed her right arm, June infused her power in that small beanbag, and it started to grow her right hand."
He smiled, "That's it! June's not giving up, without a fight! I have to get it for her, but that thing's in the way! How the hell can I do that? I have to get that Stand away from June's hand, and it'll save Nanao and Beth. Even so…" He gagged, "How the hell am I gonna do it, if it tracks movement?"
Tanukichi Okuma's all by his lonesome, as he looks to get June's growing limb back. The only thing in his way was the Stand, Master Cook!
To be continued…
