Meanwhile, in Olbia, Sardinia, a girl with fawn hair, wearing a black hat, and in a black spandex catsuit, was walking down the street. She saw a boy, trying to capture a green bug, a locust. He chased after the bug, but a speeding truck was speeding in his way. The girl cried, "NO! GET BACK, KID!"
She shoved the boy out of the way, but… The boy dodged her and remarked, "I know there was a truck coming. You think I'm stupid?"
The girl stumbled to the road, and then using her reflexes, she grabbed a pole and swung back to the sidewalk, landing on her butt. She moaned, "Ow…"
The driver roared, "Get off the road, you crazy bitch!" And then sped away.
She took off her hat and brushed her hair, "Sheesh… What a false alarm. I'm just glad the kid's safe. But still… What a bogus fall…"
Meet Camie (kay-mee). She's a young girl visiting Italy. However, there's more to Camie, than we already know.
My Hero Academia's Camie Utsushimi
Act V: Episode 11, Chapter 1: Meet Camie!
The Two-Faced Cutie!
Summer 1980
This story is better left told from the beginning…
It was a dark and stormy night, in 1980, both outside and within. In a local prison island, a woman was incarcerated, while pregnant.
The woman screamed, as her water broke. A female guard shouted, "HEY! What's the problem, Prisoner 696?"
The female guards tend to the pregnant woman, as one of the guards was angry, "How the hell did she get pregnant? We're a remote women's prison! No guy can ever enter here."
The second guard, with long black hair in a ponytail, remarked, "Search me. She's here for eight years, for robbery and assault. And it's only two years in, so it doesn't make any sense."
The police chief barked, "You better talk, chickie! Who banged you, and how did it happen? And where's the father of this baby?"
The woman screamed, "The father is dead! Two years ago!" She wailed, as the guards chuckled. But then the lady started to holler in labor pains. After that, she gave birth to a young girl. However…
One guard said, "That was a close call. It's a beautiful girl… only she had her eyes wide open, throughout. And the really uncanny thing is… she hasn't cried at all."
The chief said, as she denied the woman of ever having her daughter, "Look, this is no place for a baby, so she'll have to be adopted. Tell me. Where are you from, anyways?"
The woman gasped and heaved, saying, "Sar… Sar… degnia…" and then she passed out in a death rattle.
The woman died, after giving birth to the girl. In time, the child was taken in by a young village priest, in the small island. Time passed on, and over the years, this young lady gained a reputation for her bashful naivete.
Years later, a young Camie was talking to a frog on the street. She said, "Well, I better get going. So long, Mr. Frog-." She gasped, as a truck almost ran her over.
The driver said, "Oh, it's you. Watch where you're going, next time, Camie."
The rider called, "Just stay off the road, puttana! And don't tattle to the padre!" The truck drove away, as Camie brushed herself off.
Camie moaned, "Sheesh, they were mean. But still, I'm glad it didn't hurt you, Mr. Froggy." The frog was on her lap, as she was relieved that it didn't turn into roadkill.
A girl in blonde hair approached her and said, "You like frogs, huh? I do, too. But bugs, I don't like. Even smelly boys that act high and mighty."
"Oh?" Camie asked.
The girl said, "I just hate anything that isn't beautiful. You from around here?"
Camie said, "Uh, yes… I am." She sat up and said, "Hey, would you like something cold to drink."
"Sure. You're paying, right?"
"Yeah, I do… I guess… Or we can drink at my place. I got some lemonade."
"No, how about Sparkling Water? French Mineral Water. If you have it, of course. You're treating, after all."
After making some friends, the girl named Camie grew up in a weird lifestyle. One night, she wanted to be a sailor, but the priest that adopted her agreed to it, happily, saying that she'd make a perfect mariner. The next day, as the priest was riding in a truck, he saw the girl building a yacht, below in the coast. The driver agreed that the way she was able to make it here so fast was simply impressive. The priest knew that it was time she had a car.
But one night… at the home of the priest, he was building a carport for the girl, he began digging up the floor tiles and underlying concrete.
PING!
He struck something very hard, and dug through the concrete. But suddenly…
"What the?" He found something red, a small patch of cloth from under the concrete.
The priest dug up the debris with his hands, and was shocked. He saw a hand. Carefully, with his pickaxe, he chiseled away the concrete, and then…
He saw a woman's corpse, wearing a red gown, with her mouth stitched shut, and her arms and legs tied. This corpse was Camie's biological mother who died in prison. However, it was pulsating, as if it was still breathing.
"She's alive." He gasped, "But…"
She was paralyzed and unable to speak. Somehow, the woman that was presumed dead, magically came back to life. But something was keeping her tethered to the world of the living. Her lips were stitched up, with string, sewn shut, which prevented her from uttering a single word. She laid buried for years, with her mind vacant of conception of time. Whether by love or hatred, her consciousness was imbued in darkness.
The priest found some hair and gasped, "That…. The hair… It's the same color as…"
A woman appeared in the shadows, and held up the pickaxe. She grinned evilly and swung down onto the priest, killing him.
That night, a horrific fire ravaged the village, strengthened by the night's howling winds. While no cause was found, seven died, while countless others went missing. Among those in the coroner's reports were the village priest and the adopted girl he loved so dearly.
Until today, Camie was still alive… though it is unknown how and why she was alive. She rubbed her hair and said, "I better get going."
"You there!" A fortune teller, cloaked in purple, called to her, "You have had a bad day today, huh? Or am I sensing a rough patch in your life?"
Camie asked, "You mean me? May I help you?"
"Would you be interested in hearing your fortune? I want to help you, milady."
"You're one grody psychic. My life's been nothing but disaster and calamity, today… and the days after are, like, so bad, too."
"I'll give you a special rate. Half off."
"Uh, thanks, but no…"
"Sardinia is the birthplace you live in. Not only that, it has been so long since you came back here."
Camie stopped and asked, "Eh? What are you talking about? I'm actually visiting from out of town. And by the looks of it, I haven't been here in a while. Isn't that super cool? I have traveled around Italy, so-."
"Dear ragazza, you harbor a great secret within you. A shadow in the sun, two sides of a coin. You, child, lead a path with two desimilar lives. Moreover, you take advantage of your secret, which leads you to greater victories, albeit with a tenacious personality."
Camie's eyes flashed, as she asked, "Excuse me?"
The fortune teller said, "Ah, scusi, I spoke out of turn here. Please understand, your face is beguiling for a fortune teller like myself. I will honor myself in telling your fortune. 20, no, ten thousand Lira."
Camie approached him and said, "Sir, I really don't have the time."
"You're searching for somebody." He continued. "The person you're hunting is very important to you. A young boy. You're looking for him, in Sardinia."
"A boy? Is he hot?"
"One sec. The mud on your jumpsuit… I am looking at it. It shows a great deal. The Romani have practiced this divination for millennia. That splatter all over you is a symbol of mankind's fate. The boy. You and the boy will meet, down the road."
"Tell me who he is! I wanna know!"
"NO! It's too uncertain. But he is arriving in Sardinia. You've returned to Sardinia, to find the boy, who has a father which you once vacationed with, fifteen years ago."
"Uh… Me, date an old man?" She chuckled and blushed, "Oh, give me a break… Sorry, sir, but I wouldn't date someone old and saggy like… uh… Well, no offense, fortune dude."
She laughed, as the fortune teller cried, "It's not funny! It is serious, and it is fate! I must read your palm!" He gasped, "How strange… You're so youthful. I cannot put words on it, but I'm baffled."
Camie asked, "Eh? Uh, something wrong, sir?"
He grabbed her hand, as she cried, "HEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
"I must read your palm! My worth as a fortune teller hinges on it! I don't want your money! In fact, I'll pay you! I'll pay you fifty! One hundred Lira! I BEG OF YOU!"
"Please, sir, you're hurting me!"
"I want to know!"
"LET ME GO!"
"SHOW ME YOUR PALMS! I BEG OF YOU!"
Camie's eyes suddenly bulged out, and broke free of his grip. She hollered, "LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH ME!" She clasped the man's neck, and then transitions her voice to a deeper female voice, "SO WHAT IF YOU CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE?! THAT ABILITY WILL BE USELESS TO YOU, ONCE YOU'RE DEAD!"
She slammed him onto the brick wall, pinning him. He gasped in horror, as Camie hissed at him, "I see…"
He gasped, "Wha-? What is this power? Your face…"
Camie's voice sounded similar, except… "Seems that you're not a Stand User. You're just a lowly fortune merchant. That's a shame. You like to peddle your talents, like a common beggar. But that justifies everything. You see, indovino, anyone who dares view my true face will result in the last moments of life. In short, once who dares to have knowledge of my true self will suffer their demise. But you have proven yourself to be a fortune teller of the highest caliber. For this, I have a task for you, for my generosity comes with a price." Camie's face is shrouded in black, as she showed a picture of Makoto Naegi, "I'm looking for this boy. The traitor's name is Makoto Naegi. His desire is to reveal my true identity, and he has a mission to find a somewhat friend of mine. Use your divination to reveal his location."
"You want his location? I'm sorry…" He croaked, "But I can't say. You will meet with him, soon enough. He is here in Sardinia. And he's fueled with hope and revenge. I'm certain that you two will cross paths."
Camie let go and sighed, "I see. That will do. Grazie."
The fortune teller grabbed her wrist and was shocked. He bellowed, "Ah! I knew it! I know what your palm reads! I was right about you, and I was right about two sides of a coin! You're of a dual personality! As long as you hold this secret, you plan to live in secrecy will come, and death to others your hands will be heading your way! Yes… this hand! It's a work of art, and a beautiful divination that follows!" He gasped, "But wait, your fortune is wrong! I don't sense your lifeline, anymore!" He looked at the hand, and then his hacked-off left arm, and cackled hysterically, "Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Now I get it! I am holding my own severed hand! How did that happen?"
Camie secretly hacked off the man's arm, and switched her hand with his. The man cackled, as Camie sighed in disgust, "Crimson War Goddess!"
STAB! SMASH!
Crimson War Goddess suddenly appeared, as she was able to kill the fortune teller, in an instant, with one punch. Camie emerged from the alley, as the boy was frightened. She ignored the boy and went to the locust. She kneeled down and said, "Hey, you okay? Sorry… It's not safe here. I'm glad you're not all flat and gross." She returned to her cheerful personality. She continued, "Now, you, like, go on home and fly away from any danger. 'kay?"
It flew away, as Camie smiled. The boy tried to reach her, but… She vanished in thin air. The boy was confused, as he had no idea what he saw. But many believe Camie as for what she actually is.
Camie… is really The Boss.
Moments later, Camie boarded a taxi and stepped in. The driver asked, "Where to, babe?"
Camie said, "To Costa Smeralda, please."
"Certo." And then the taxi drove off to Camie's destination. However, the cab went past a man in spiky hair and a green jacket. It was Makoto Naegi, the last surviving member of La Squadra. He was watching the news, learning of a plane crash in the Thyrennian Sea. He knew what went on.
"They made it… But… I have to beat them to Sardinia, and soon." Naegi exclaimed.
As Camie arrived in Sardinia, she was admiring the view. She held up her broken cellphone and sighed, "Aw..." She asked the driver, "Uh, scusi, do you have a phone I can borrow? I'm expecting a call, but…"
The driver said, "Sorry, Ma'am, I got no phone."
Camie nodded, and then gasped, "OH! Stop here! This is where I get off!"
She arrived at the cliff, near Costa Smeralda. She looked on and said, "That's the building. She told me to meet there." She looked at an envelope with a picture on it and said, "I know it. All I have to do is wait here. The deets I got are to keep an eye on that spot."
She had the photo of Zenjuro Okuma, near the pillar of Costa Smeralda, from 15 years ago.
Costa Smeralda, Sardinia - just over half a century ago, before the beauty of its waters and shores caught the eyes of an Indian magnate, this secluded locale was practically unknown to the outside world.
Camie paid the fare, but was appalled, "Wait a sec! 800 Lira?! It's not enough! That is major high!"
The driver protested, "Were you trying to con me for a free ride?"
"NO! I mean, how can the meter be, like, off, by a digit? That much for a ride to the shore, all for the travels? I can't pay that much bones! It's too much!"
The driver yelled, "Listen, you little puttana. I don't like deadbeat bums that skip out on the cab fare! And besides, it says 800,000 Lira! All I did was take you from Olbia to Costa Smeralda! That, my dear, is a long ride!"
Camie pleaded, "Eight hundred thousand Lira?! Now, wait a minute… I'm not saying you rigged the meter, but that's too much. And besides, I don't even have enough. If I knew this would've happened, I would've splurged for the ride! Why did I spent it all on that kicking Italian Cuisine?"
The driver said, "Oh, I see how it is… Still, you're not willing to pay, because you're stacked! And I don't mean your breasts! I mean what you were peeking in that envelope."
Camie asked, "Eh? The envelope?"
"Yeah! Were you holding out on me, lady? You do have stacks of cash with you, inside that brown envelope!"
"WAIT! I can assure you, it's not-!"
He took the envelope, and took a peek. Camie's eyes went demonic, and shifted back to her true personality - The Boss. She snatched it away from him, and then dug her fingers into his eyes. She roared, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF THERE, STRONZO! THAT'S NOT FOR YOUR EYES TO SEE! OR, ARE YOU WILLING TO LOSE YOUR EYEBALLS? HUH? YOUR DAMN CURIOSITY IS ABOUT TO GET YOU KILLED!"
The driver sobbed and pleaded, "NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? LET ME GO! THAT HURTS! I DIDN'T MEAN TO! PLEASE, HAVE MERCY!"
Camie suddenly let go, and then puckered her lips, "Dooo-lululululululu. Dooo-lululululululu. What was that? Did you hear it, just now? The phone?" She roared, "HEY! Answer the damn question! Was there a phone here?"
The driver cried, "Wait… I don't know what you're-."
"Dooo-lululululululu." Camie chirped, "Do you hear it? Where is it?"
She looked around, whistling, "Dooo-lululululululu." She looked in the cab, as the driver was shocked, "A-HA! So you did have a phone here! What the hell is wrong with you? You accuse me of holding out on you, yet YOU were the one that held me out!"
She snatched the plush cat hanging from the rearview mirror, and continued, "Dooo-lululululululu." She held it like a phone and said, "Boop! Hello? Yes, this is Camie." She gasped, "OH! Boss! Yes, I just arrived! … Yes, the same spot as the photo. I'm right over the coast, as we speak, in wait. … … … Huh? Since he didn't view the photo, he's allowed to live?"
The driver threw Camie's luggage out and cried, "What the-? Screw that bitch! She's insane!" He drove away, as Camie was on the "phone" with The Boss, "Yes… I understand. But I'm pretty sure the driver saw his peeps on something that he's not allowed to view. My apologies, Boss. I've already begun my stakeout on the building."
Camie's eyes bugged out, and suddenly spoke like The Boss, "You're watching a building?! I'd reevaluate the situation, Camie! Look harder, but move slowly. Make no sudden movements. Don't appear flustered. The one who's watching… is YOU, Camie!"
Camie gasped, "ME?! But why? And how?"
"Look closely, to your left… Far away from here, and look carefully."
Camie saw Naegi, who was hiding in the rocks, "WHAT? That's Naegi of the Hitman Squad! That indovino was right, all along!"
"He's certainly a crafty one, I know it. The plane crash tipped him off, somehow. Apparently, he's on his way to find Okuma and the traitors. We'll spare Koumoto and the others, for now. Our first objective is to dispatch Naegi, permanently. Otherwise, he'll be even more trouble for us, once Okuma arrives. Leave the killing blow to me, Camie. I'll handle it. Just make sure you're at an exact distance to Naegi, without knowing your true identity. Even I am unsure what Naegi's abilities are. Lure him within 2 to 3 meters. Once you do, I'll finish him off. This fool must be within Crimson War Goddess's range, in order for me to strike. I leave it to you, Camie. Ciao."
Camie concluded, "Right, I won't let you down, Boss. Boop!" She hung up the phone and prepared. But she rubbed her head and moaned, "Ungh… What happened to me?" She gasped, "OH! That's the least of my worries! I have a direct order from The Boss!" She pondered and whispered, "Wait… What do I have to do? I need to keep an eye on the building… but…" She picked up her luggage and said, "What did she say? Close the gap? NO, she meant go closer. Right. So, all I have to do is-."
"Don't bother." Naegi appeared from behind Camie, "No need for your ambush. I'm one step ahead of you!"
Camie gasped, as Naegi prepared, "So, we meet." Camie leapt forward, but she crashed face-first into the rock, breaking her nose. Naegi moved to the middle, as Camie was in pain.
Naegi said, "Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But still, you're no different."
Camie and Naegi meet face-to-face. But does Naegi know?
To be continued…
