"Take me upstairs" she whispered in his ear
And he didn't argue one bit, since the day he saw her in the airport he was instantly attracted to her, it had been a hell of a month trying to keep things professional between them, but tonight he was ready to risk it all. As he carried Andy up the stairs, she began to kiss his neck, making it increasingly hard for him to focus on walking. Despite the distraction he successfully made it to the bedroom where he dropped her on the bed and began taking off her shirt She laid there in her red lacy bra as he began to kiss her body with ever kiss getting closer and closer to her core and prompting Andy to moan a little louder each time. Every moan that escaped drove Sullivan crazy. It wasn't long until Andy had enough of the teasing, and rolled them over so she was now straddling him on the side of the bed. She quickly took off his shirt, breaking their kisses for a brief moment. Andy was drunk, but she was sober enough to know what she was doing, and she was okay with it. She already dismissed the thoughts that told her this was wrong, but she didn't care.
Andy quickly pushed him down so he was laying on the bed, and returned the favor of trailing kisses down his body. She lingered a little when she reached right above the button of his jeans. She began to undo his belt intentionally letting her hand graze his growing erection.
She looked at him as she undid the zipper of his pants, going slowly watching the expression on his face change.
"I don't think it's fair that my pants are gone but yours aren't," Robert said sitting up and grabbing Andy and taking off her pants. He took off his boxers and went to take off her underwear looking up at her for permission. She gave him a slight nod before pulling his face down to kiss him again. He lined himself up with her and they went for hours, at first, they both thought maybe this is just sex but soon they realized this was more.
They both laid breathless in the bed next to each other. Andy crawled over to him laying her head on his chest, looking up and kissing him.
"I like you. I like you more than just casual sex." She had never done that before. She never just openly expressed her feelings.
"I like you too. I feel something when I'm around you that I haven't felt since Claire. I don't just want casual sex; I want you to wake up next to me every single day." Robert said looking down at Andy planting a kiss on her forehead. They laid there in each other's arms for who knows how long until they both fell asleep.
Andy was awakened by her alarm and a blazing headache. She turned to get up but was hindered by a strong heavy arm wrapped around her. Suddenly the events of the night before came flooding in her mind. "Did I just sleep with my instructor?" she said to herself. She must have said it out loud because she heard a deep groggy voice behind her. "Yes," the voice said before the arm pulled her closer into him. Andy couldn't explain it but she felt so safe and so protected from everything in the world, she wanted to lay their forever. She grabbed his hand and brought it closer to her bare chest holding it tight. After a few minutes like that, they both decided it was time to get up and get dressed. They met outside on the sidewalk 30 minutes later and Robert drove them to the training facility like he had been doing for the last month and a half, only this time it was a different routine. He pulled into his parking spot thanks god for tinted windows and pulled Andy in for a kiss before she could get out the car.
"Mmm, what was that for?" Andy said smiling
"I wanted to kiss you one more time before I forcible have to yell at you," he said going in for another kiss.
Andy giggled before getting out of the car and walking off. Robert sat there and watched her as her hips swayed from side to side. He was brought out of his trance when he saw one of the male trainees walk up behind her and slap her ass. He watched as she turned around and slapped him, he quickly got out of the car and ran over.
"What the hell!" Sullivan yelled when he got over there
"She attacked me, sir," the trainee said
"I did not you slapped my ass!" Andy yelled
"I would advise you not to lie to you commanding officer, I saw the whole thing from my car. Both of you my office now!" he yelled the guy walked off, leaving Andy and Robert there, Robert watching the guy angry and Andy just standing there.
"Robert calm down. Killing him won't do anything" Andy said touching his chest briefly.
"Yeah but I can fantasize about it." He said walking off.
After the meeting in his office, Robert had to take a minute to calm down before going back out on the floor. That day at training was long and hard for both him and Andy, but they got through it. When they got home that night, they snuggled on the couch watching really bad chick flicks and eating popcorn. To Andy's surprise, Robert didn't complain about what they were watching, he was into it more than she was.
The training program was winding down, Andy and Robert had been together for a month and a half now and no one from the program found out, which was great.
"What time is your flight tomorrow?" Robert asked her as he helped her pack the last bit of her things
"11 am," she said taking out her outfit to travel. She decided on some leggings and one of Roberts sweaters he told her she could have because it was her favorite color.
"I don't want to leave," she said looking up at him
"Don't you miss your friends back home?"
"Yeah of course I do, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to miss waking up next to my boyfriend every day." She said wrapping her arms around his waist and placing her head on his chest.
"I know me too. I'll come to visit you as soon as I get a week off" he said placing a kiss on her forehead. "we should get some sleep we have to leave early tomorrow"
They both crawled into bed Andy snuggled close to Robert, this was going to be the last time in a while that she got to do that so she was going to take full advantage, and so was he.
The morning came way too fast. They both got up and decided that since they woke up early enough, they could take a shower together without wasting too much time.
They got out and check the clock it was 7:30 and they wanted to get to the airport for 9. They brushed their teeth, Andy was standing in front of the sink, and Robert was right behind her, his front pressed against her back. She laid her head back so it was resting on his chest.
"I'm going to miss spending my mornings like this" Andy finally spoke
"Me too," he said rubbing her back with one hand as he dried his face with the other.
Andy went back into the bedroom and got dressed. Robert stood there leaning in the door frame watching as he put on her black leggings and reached for the sweater.
"Is that my sweater?" he said walking over and wrapping his arms around her from behind
"Yeah…It smells like you so I decided to wear it." Andy said turning around and kissing him.
It was now 8 and Robert took her bags downstairs and placed them in the car, while she looked around the room one last time ensuring she took everything.
She made her way downstairs grabbing her phone and water bottle and headed out the door.
The drive to the airport was like any of their other drives, the music was playing, Andy would sing when a song she recognized came on, and Robert would look at her in awe and amazement.
The time for Andy to board her plane approached too fast. Robert pulled her into a tight hug not willing to let her go. "I love you, be safe," he said. "I know its soon but I love you Andy I do"
"I love you too," Andy said wrapping her arms around his neck and placing a passionate kiss on his lips. "I'll see you soon Montana," she said hugging him again before walking away. Montana was a nickname she picked up for him while she was there. He hated it but that's why she said it so much. She turned around and waved one last time before boarding the plane.
The flight back to Seattle was smooth, Maya was there to pick her up when she got off.
"Nice sweater," she said, "I didn't know you went to Germany," she said
"Huh? What?" Andy looked confused
"The writing on your sweater, is it not German?" Maya said raising her eyebrow
"Oh, right yeah." Andy was spaced out, she missed Robert so much. Suddenly her phone went off
R- I just wanted to make sure you got back safely. I miss you and love you. I'll call you tonight so we can talk, I miss your voice already
Andy smiled at her phone quickly sending a text back.
"Ouu who are you smiling at?" Maya said
"No one" Andy responded a little too quickly for Maya's liking, but she dropped it.
Two months later
It's been about two months since Andy got back, she has been training the crew at station 23 every other shift and they are beginning to improve.
"Herrera a word" Ripley called out to her
"Yes, Chief?" Andy responded
"I wanted to welcome you back and I wanted to let you know that I am promoting you as Captain of station 23," Ripley said and he noticed the sudden change in her face
"23, sir?"
"yes, there is a need at 23 and I think you would be a great fit."
"What about 19? Who is going to be the captain there?"
"I have an old friend who has just been promoted to captain that will be perfect for 19"
"I don't know if I would be able to leave 19, they are my family"
"I'll give you a few days to think about it"
"I can't leave 19," Andy said to Maya
"But you will finally be a captain, and get the promotion you deserve," Maya said
"19 is my family, that is where I grew up, I will gladly train other stations but 19 is where I want to stay," Andy said putting her foot down. Maya knew Andy wanted to be captain so bad, but she knew she wanted to stay at 19. She also knew that once she put her foot down that was it.
"Fine, but are you finally going to tell me who your mystery man is that you have been talking too non stop since you got back from Montana?" Maya said as they walked into the apartment
"I have no idea what you are talking about," Andy said as her phone buzzed indicating she got a text.
"Ouu what did he say?" Maya said trying to peak over into her friend's phone
Andy gently and playfully pushed her away before running to her room to talk to Robert.
Maya was happy for her friend even though she had zero information. Andy was happy and that's all she wanted.
The next shift Andy was at 19 training them when the Chief walked in.
"Herrera, a word," he said walking into the captain's office
"Just keep doing that," she told the rest of the crew before heading in behind the chief
"Have you made your decision?" Ripley asked
"Yes, I did. 19 is my family, 19 is where I grew up, 19 is where I want my career to grow. I appreciate the opportunity and as much as I want to be a captain I cannot leave my family behind. I am willing to go around and train other stations I have no problem with that, but I will continue to do it as a lieutenant of Station 19, nothing more, nothing less. If that is okay with you sir." She said keeping eye contact for as long as she could
"I understand, I know you are capable of rising in the ranks very quickly here at 19, and I look forward to seeing you as a captain one day. I will be back in about 2 hours to introduce you all to the new captain of 19 so spread the word, and make sure you guys look presentable." Ripley said before walking out
Andy let out a sigh of relief. She quickly ran out to the team who was still training like she asked, "Alright guys, we have to cut today short, go shower and change and make sure you are in perfect uniform, the Chief is going to announce the new captain of 19 in 2 hours. Let's make this station as clean as possible"
They all ran off doing their tasks, and in 2 hours they all lined up outside of the barn waiting for the arrival of the chief.
Soon they saw the car pull up, Andy watched as her father stepped forward and she just closed her eyes taking deep breathes.
"I would like to introduce you all to the new Captain of Station 19, Captain Robert Sullivan." As the named rolled off Ripley's tongue Andy's eyes shot up and went wide. She had no words, "Why didn't he tell her." All she could do is stare at him. She was broken away from her trance when Vic nudged her and said, "he is one hot piece of firefighter man candy", Andy just looked at her and smiled.
"How about we go around and do names," Pruitt said
"Sure okay" Robert responded and Pruitt pointed to Ben who was on the end
"Ben Warren, sir," He said extending his hand to shake his new captains
"Travis Montgomery"
"Lieutenant Jack Gibson"
"Dean Miller"
"Maya Bishop"
"Victoria Hughes"
"Lieuten…" Andy started before he cut her off
"Lieutenant Andrea Herrera. We met actually at the training program in Montana." He said shaking her hand, all while keeping intense eye contact which made Andy blush, which didn't go unnoticed by Maya.
Robert resumed his position next to Ripley who continued to talk. Robert kept staring at Andy almost as if he was undressing her with his eyes. When speeches were done, Sullivan stepped forward and asked who the acting captain was. Andy raised her hand, and he gave her the right away to continue to order the crew. She sent them back to their tasks before making her way to the office with Robert following behind her like a puppy.
"Why didn't you tell me you were getting a job here, at my station?" She said closing the blinds
"I wanted to surprise you." He said walking closer to her and grabbing her by her waist. "I missed you so much"
"I missed you too," she said wrapping her arms around his neck, planting a kiss on his lips.
"Now I get to wake up next to you, and see you all the time." He said placing another kiss on her lips, this one became more passionate. So passionate neither heard the knock on the door or the door open behind them.
"What the heck!" Maya shouted, causing the two to pull away from each other like two teenagers in high school caught doing the nasty. "Someone talk now"
"We met at the training program and we just hit it off and it went from there, we are together, we've been together for a few months now," Andy said finding it hard to maintain eye contact with her friend
"Huh, you know you're going to have to tell the team."
"Yeah, I guess we might as well do it now," Andy said looking up at Robert
"Okay sure" They all walked to the beanery and told the team about their relationship. They promised that it wouldn't compromise anything and that they planned on remaining professional. Andy was happy that her friends didn't make a big fuss about it, and most of all she was happy that she had both her family and her boyfriend all in the same room, together.
