Her mind was failing her. She is usually the first to run into actions. The first to come up with a game plan, but she was stiff. And now she found herself standing in the doorway of her best friend's apartment thinking back to the events that unfolded before her eyes two hours ago.

Her head snapped when she heard Vic yell out, "No Dean Stop" before she could open her mouth there, he was laying on the ground in front of her three officers pinning him down, one kneeling on the top of his back. "Stop you can't do that you are hurting him!" She yelled at the officer that was kneeling on him, "He can't breathe" she said again

She bent down getting as close to Dean as she possibly could. "Don't resist Dean. It will be okay," She said to him hoping that subconsciously he was listening.

She was trying to reason with the officers but they weren't having it. She didn't even realize what happened until she heard the cop say "that's it" and watched as every cop suddenly turned, guns drawn aiming at Robert. Everything went silent in that moment. The only sound that was heard Andy's pleas to her husband. "Robert please, please". Maya knew in that moment those pleas would haunt the entire A shift for the rest of their lives. The hurt in her voice.

"What are you doing? This is my team!"

And she was back. Standing in the doorway. Staring at the shell of a person that she calls her best friend. She looked to Travis who gave her a small nod and she walked over to the side of the apartment where Andy was.

"Hey, Andy. You look like you've done a lot in the past two hours. Maybe we should take a break, go sit outside, maybe go get cleaned up and go to bed." She said softly not wanting to startle or trigger her.

"No, I'm fine. I promised Robert weeks ago I would get rid of all this crap, but with the separation I wasn't here so now's my chance." Andy replied not even bothering to make eye contact.

"Okay, that's fine. Let me help, I'm sure those jeans are not comfortable how about I go to your room and get you some sweats and hoodie, is that okay?" She just wanted to help her friend. She didn't know what to do, she wanted to get the guys back but she couldn't right now. When she saw Andy nod, she went upstairs gesturing for Travis to follow her. The two stood in the doorway of the bedroom.

"I don't even want to think about what might have happened in here," Travis said, making a disgusted face.

"Thanks, I could've done without that visual," She said rolling her eyes and walking in.

"I hate this Trav," She said opening one of the drawers which was thankfully full of hoodies, hoodies which she assumed belonged to Sullivan because they looked huge. "I hate that my two best friends just watched people they love get arrested for being heroes and doing what we do every day." She continued pulling out a hoodie that she has seen Andy wear a couple times. She bent down to another drawer seeing Andy's sweats and leggings. "I hate that there isn't anything I can do for them right now," she pulled out a pair of sweats and leggings thinking maybe Vic would want to change too. "Trav?" She turned around when she didn't hear any response. She saw what looked to be at least 20 envelopes laying out on the bed.

"What are those?" she asked placing the clothes on the bed and picking up an envelope

"They are letters, from Sullivan to Andy. I think she should read them." Travis said.

"Yeah, she probably should. Here take these to Vic and tell Andy there is something up here for her," she said handing Travis the clothes. She took a closer look at the envelopes they were numbered. She took them and started to put them in order. She noticed there was a number missing. "He must've had it with him," she thought to herself. She placed the pile on top of the clothes. She heard the footsteps approaching, coming up the stairs and down the hall.

"Travis said you couldn't find something," Andy said in a monotone voice. She sounded annoyed. As she should be. Maya could only imagine how she would feel if what happened to Robert happened to Carina.

"Um well sort of, I got these sweats for you and this hoodie I've seen you wear a couple times. Travis found these on the bed," she said pointing to the letters. "They are addressed to you, there are a good few of them there, I think you should read them, and cry if you need to cry." she continued.

She saw the tears begin to well in her best friends' eyes. "I'll leave you alone," she said and silently walked back downstairs. Jack and Vic were still in the same position except Vic had changed her clothes. Travis was in the kitchen cooking something.

"I guess I could go through Captain Herrera's stuff," Maya whispered to herself and began going through the boxes separating things into different piles. She didn't throw anything away just made it easier to go through at a later time. She didn't know how long she had been looking at this model fire truck before she was snapped out of her thoughts by yelling and stomping.

God this was a long day. She just wanted everything to go back to the way it was this morning. Maybe she shouldn't have suggested drinking at her apartment. But it doesn't change anything because whether they were at the apartment or not the world is still the same. This, here, what happened today would have happened at any time. She hated this world. She hated this place. She is the Captain, and she wasn't going to let anything happen to her team, she was going to fix this before it destroys her friends.

Got inspired, decided to post it because why starve yall. I see letters -oops
