Andrea
One second she was laughing, the next she was on the ground, and now she was speechless. She already had a panic attack. And now she was yelling at the cops that just pulled guns on her husband. When those cops drove off they all just stood there.
"I want to go home," she said letting out a sigh
"Okay let's go back to the apartment and then we can figure out a game plan," Maya said
"No." she mumbled
"What was that?" Travis asked
"No, I want to go home. I want to go home," She said again this time you could hear her voice crack.
"It's okay, I'll take you home," Travis said, guiding her and Vic to his car driving to the apartment she shared with her husband. She unlocked the door, took a deep breath and walked over to the living room. She hadn't been here since she dropped him home after his surgery after they decided to separate for 90 days. And now she was back. This wasn't how she wanted to be back. She wanted to walk into the doors of the apartment with him by her side. She wanted to feel him engulf her in a hug trailing kisses from her forehead down her neck making her melt into his warm embrace. She wanted him to be here so she could jump up, wrap her legs around his waist begging him to take her to their bedroom. Her eyes surveyed the downstairs of the apartment. Nothing had changed except the boxes that were once scattered everywhere were now stacked to the side and there was a new picture on the living room table that wasn't there before. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. It was one of the many pictures her father took of them when they got married. This one in particular was of them looking deep into eachothers eyes lovingly.
She knew she couldn't sit down. She knew she couldn't sit a wallow in self pity and sadness she needed to keep moving so she grabbed a box of her fathers things and began going through it. She promised Robert months ago she would go through all this crap but she never did. She just got to work keeping only a few things. Just some pictures of her and Ryan or pictures she found of her and her father. She was surprised when she saw a couple pictures she had taken of Robert and Pruitt on occasions when they went out as a family. She didn't expect him to keep them.
She heard Travis try and talk to her but she wasn't really paying attention. She didn't want their pity. She was grateful that they were all there but she didn't want Travis's pity and she didn't want Maya's pity. So when Maya came over and asked if she wanted clothes to change into she just waved her off giving her the go ahead and went back to sorting through her fathers things.
She was on her fourth box when Travis said that Maya couldn't find something. She was annoyed. It wasn't very difficult to open drawers and pull out sweatpants or a sweater. What could she possibly not have been able to find.
"Travis said you couldn't find something," She said in a monotone voice, letting out a heavy sigh indicating how annoyed she was.
"Um well sort of, I got these sweats for you and this hoodie I've seen you wear a couple times. Travis found these on the bed," Maya said pointing to a pile of envelopes on the bed. "They are addressed to you, there are a good few of them there, I think you should read them, and cry if you need to cry." Maya continued.
Tears started to form in her eyes. "I'll leave you alone," Maya said and silently walked back downstairs. She carefully walked into the bedroom closing the door behind her. She walked over to the bed taking a seat on the edge and grabbed the pile of envelopes looking at each of them. She was very eager to see what they were. She quickly changed into the sweatpants Maya picked out for her and a little smile grew on her face when she saw her best friend had picked one of Roberts sweatshirts for her. She pulled it over her head climbing back into the middle of the bed. She picked up the first envelope. She shifted so her back was leaning against the headboard of the bed. She crossed her legs and carefully opened the envelope, pulling out a folded piece of paper. It was a letter. A letter addressed to her from her husband. She wanted to cry right then, but she didn't. She began to read.
Dear Andy,
I've never been particularly good at expressing my feelings in words. And I know I told you over a year ago that talking to you is easy, but sometimes I still find it difficult. I know what you are thinking, "You can tell me anything Robert, I won't judge you, I'll just listen." Andy, I know you would but you know me. You know the type of person I am.
Anyway, yeah you just dropped me home. And now we have to go 90 days without waking up next to each other and spending every waking hour together. I want to say Thank You. I want to say thank you for never giving up on me even when I pushed you away, even when you had every right to walk out the door of our apartment, when you had every right to look me in the eye, curse me out and never speak to me again.
I would mail this letter to you but I don't want to jeopardize the separation because I will get in the car to go to the post office and then I would probably find myself driving to the station to see you and I wouldn't be able to keep my hands off of you. And although this separation is mainly for my sobriety, I think it will also be good for you.
I want you to spend some time with your friends. Reach out to your family and spend time with them, get to know them again. Show them and your mother the wonderful, amazing, beautiful Woman that I have grown to love. The amazing person that Pruiit raised all by himself. Be the Lieutenant Andrea Herrera that I know you are.
I love you Andy, forever and always.
Love,
Robert
She didn't realise she was crying until she saw the wet spot on the bottom of the paper. She sat there and read about 5 more letters before she walked out the bedroom, envelopes in hand stomping down the stairs.
"We have to get them out" she yelled over and over and over. She began putting on her sneakers that were by the front door where they always were.
"Lets go we have to get them out, they can't stay in there. Let's go, let's go, let's go," she yelled some more. She was confused as to why no one was moving. Why everyone was just staring at her.
"What is the problem?" she inquired after no one moved for about 2 minutes.
"Nothing, it's just you haven't said more than a word since everything happened and now you are screaming." Jack said
"Yeah well I wouldn't be screaming if y'all would get up."
She was going to get her husband back, and this time she was going to get him back for good. This time he wasn't going anywhere, she wouldn't allow it. She was determined to bring everything back to normal. One way or another the sun will shine on Station 19 A-team again.
