Chapter 2

Spider-Man was struggling to breathe.

"I'm Daredevil," said the man. "Now the more important question is, who do you work for?"

"No one, no one, I-I work alone,"

Daredevil didn't believe him so he tightened his grip, "Think very carefully about what you say and try again,"

"Okay, I thought about it," Spider-Man engages his brand new taser webs and shoots Daredevil stunning him and bringing him to his knees, and because of this the billy clubs cable loosens around Spider-Man's neck. By the time he gets out of the cable's grip, Daredevil has recovered from the taser web. The devilish-dressed man retracts his billy club but the web-slinger knocks it out of his hand.

Daredevil charges letting out a loud grunt as he attempts a spin kick on Spider-Man which he skillfully dodges. Daredevil continued his attack while Spidey stayed on the defense evading flying kicks and punches. Spider-Man then saw a small opening, he evades one of his punches and does a skillful back kick on him.

Daredevil was knocked back and growled. Spider-Man didn't want to fight him because he knew that together they could find out what's going on. " Can we just talk like normal human beings?"

"You say you're Spider-Man but I don't believe you,"

"I am! I mean I was after everything that happened with Mysterio I don't work with them anymore!"

Daredevil didn't believe him so he charged at Spider-Man and swung at him with his billy club which he evaded but couldn't evade the second swing. Spider-Man shouted in pain, he thought he could beat this guy but it is going to take time, time they don't have.

Suddenly, a police car drives into the warehouse lights on and everything. Yuri steps out of the car and points her gun, "Stop fighting, now!"

Daredevil attempted to escape but Spider-Man pulled him back with his webs and trapped him.

"Detective what's going on?" asked Spider-Man.

Yuri walked up and realized who the web-slinger was fighting and she stayed aghast as very few members of the force had laid eyes upon Daredevil.

"Da-Daredevil," said Yuri stuttering.

Daredevil's head falls back in annoyance, "Hi,"

Yuri looks back at Spider-Man, "We have an extensive file on him, used to go by 'The Devil of Hell's Kitchen' back when he first put Fisk in jail, but I think he can tell you the rest,"

Spider-Man's lenses shrink as he looks back at Daredevil, "Still need more proof that I'm Spider-Man, or should I web you up some more?"

Daredevil looks over at Spider-Man, "Nah I'm good,"

"Spider-Man," says Yuri as she signals him to walk over to her to talk privately. Spider-Man walks over to Yuri and Daredevil yet again tries to get up to escape but as Spider-Man walks away he webs Daredevil to the wall behind him. Daredevil growls as Spider-Man and Yuri talk,

"You didn't call him, did you? What is this a vigilante get-together?" asked Spider-Man.

"Of course not, I didn't even know he was active no one has seen him for years," said Yuri, "look we need to look into this and he might be the best help you can get."

"You want me to work with that devil-faced psycho?!"

"I can still hear you!" said Daredevil. Spider-Man and Yuri looked very confused as they were standing at least fifteen or twenty feet away and whispering. "Sorry!" said Spider-Man in his usual apologetic awkwardness.

"Okay okay fine I'll talk to him and see what I can find out, but you should probably go before someone sees you talking to us," said Spider-Man as he walked back towards Daredevil.

"I have a bad feeling about this," said Yuri.

Spider-Man's head snapped back at Yuri "Ha! Star Wars reference I love it!"

Yuri rolled her eyes as she got back in her car and drove off.

"So if I let you out of these webs are you gonna start hitting me again?"

Daredevil stayed silent, "I'll take that as a no," said Spider-Man as he let Daredevil out of the webs.

Daredevil gets up and stretches, "So you really are Spider-Man, heard about that thing with Mysterio,"

"Don't tell me you're one of those 'Mysterio was right' guys,"

"Nah I'm usually good at seeing through bullshit like that," said Daredevil, "So what led you here?"

"The detective that was just here gave me a lead on a meeting between a group of guys I've been following, I first saw them trying to steal something hidden in a painting at MoMA before the Black Cat came and did it for them,"

"Oh yeah I've heard of her, she's uh interesting," said Daredevil as he sat down on a crate.

"Yeah, she stole a flash drive,"

"I heard them talking about that before I took them down, I heard them talk about getting it before the Cat got to it," said Daredevil.

"So these guys were probably protecting it," said Spider-Man, "Any idea who they work for?"

"I don't know for sure I'm about 90% sure that they work for one of the old Maggia families,"

"I thought they died out," said Spider-Man, "why do you think its them?"

"They smell like cigars, they ate meatball subs 2 hours ago, and their accents scream mafia, and they never die out they've always been there, anyway I think the drive is one of many that whoever the Cat works for wants and maybe use it as leverage against the Maggia somehow," said Daredevil, "I have no idea why."

"Well let's find out why then, partner," Spider-Man said.

"I work better alone and we are not partners," said Daredevil seriously.

"Coworkers then?"

"I don't need your help to do this, this is my city and I'm going to protect it no matter what!" Daredevil looked frustrated. Spider-Man understood that he would have a better chance of doing this together than separately. The web-slinger knows how he feels, he too used to work alone before the Avengers, and even the other Spider-Mans had a hard time working together.

"Look jokes aside, this is my city too and I'm gonna do whatever it takes, but we can do more good together, to protect our city," said Spider-Man.

Daredevil looks at Spider-Man and smiles, "I didn't know you could form a sentence without a quip," Daredevil stands up, "I'll keep digging and see what I find,"

Spider-Man grabs a notebook and pen from a nearby desk, writes a phone number, and hands it to Daredevil.

"Call me whenever 'Devil of Hell's Kitchen'"

Daredevil starts walking up the stairs, and looks back at Spider-Man, "There it is," once at the window he uses his billy club to attach the cable to the top of the next building.

"See you around... partner," said Daredevil as he swung down to the street.

Spider-Man kept looking at the window where Daredevil jumped out of. "Okay, good job Pete making friends, I guess,"

Spidey then jumped out of the same window and swung off into the city. "I should make some new gadgets if I'm going up against some old Italian mafia gang and, a really pretty white-haired girl... I mean not pretty, bad very bad person," said Spider-Man to himself.

"Hey what's that?" said Spider-Man as he noticed a blip on his HUD, "Lots of RFID signals coming from the Empire State Building, let me check it out,"

Spider-Man swings to the Empire State Building and the signal gets stronger the closer he gets. Spider-Man swings as high as he could and lands straight on the side of the building. He looks up as the RFID signal is coming from the very top of the building and he is less than halfway up. "Oh my God, that's really high,"

Spider-Man wall runs up the entire building until he reaches the observation deck where he backflips off of the building and webs to the top spire of the building. Hyperventilating from the enormous amount of effort he just made, he looks out to the beautiful New York City below. "Peter 3 was right this is a better view," Spider-Man scanned something stuck to the side of the spire, "That must be it, but are those my webs?" He webbed the object to him. "Oh this is... one of my backpacks from freshman year I must have webbed it up here," he said as he saw some notebooks titled 'Midtown School of Science' along with some prototype web-shooters and some old prototype gadgets. "These were prototypes of an old gadget I designed, maybe I can make some new improved web gadgets with these,"

Spider-Man then puts on the backpack and jumps off the Empire State Building startling people on the observation deck as he dives past. The air rushing past his face as he dives down towards 5th avenue just before hitting the ground he webs and swings extraordinarily high from the momentum of the fall. Spidey heads back towards his apartment to craft his new gear.

The next morning...

Matt Murdock walks down the street in Hell's Kitchen tapping his cane, sporting his non-red regular suit and tie, except for his glasses which are red of course. Matt knew that after what Spider-Man said it's better to have help which is exactly what he was going to get, and he knew he was seeking help from the best. Matt turns and enters a building and walks straight into an elevator. Upon exiting the elevator he walks straight down a hallway approaching a door that read 'Alias Investigations.' Matt knocked but no one answered. He looked confused as he knew someone should be home, so he knocked again but this time a little bit louder. He heard a crash from inside and a loud, annoyed 'Coming!' from inside. When the door opened Matt immediately said "Jessica!"

The woman was indeed Jessica Jones, a private investigator and member of the Defenders. "Holy shit you're alive?" said Jessica as she walked away from the door to grab the bottle of Jack Daniel's that was resting on her desk. Matt walked in and closed the door he sensed that of course, she had been drinking before.

"I mean I knew you were alive after that building fell on you because of course I figured it out but I didn't know if you were alive alive you know?"

"Sorry if I woke you up," Matt sensed the bottle touching her lips as she drank, "Whiskey for breakfast huh? Why am I not surprised? I mean you drank a whole other one last night," said Matt jokingly.

"I forgot how weird you are Murdock ugh,"

"So uh how's a business been?" asked Matt trying to make small talk.

"Well seeing as how I blipped, pretty shit to be honest,"

"Yeah me too," said Matt.

"What do you want Murdock? because I know you didn't come here to catch up,"

"I need your help to look into some criminals I'm tracking,"

"Who?"

"The Maggia seems they're trying to protect some drives of theirs from the Black Cat and she's trying to steal them for someone I don't know who though,"

"Maggia? Black Cat? Jesus Matt, what have you gotten into now?"

"And I'm also working the case with Spider-Man,"

Jessica facepalms and takes another gulp of her whiskey, "Spider-Man?"

"Yeah, it's uh complicated,"

Jessica was frustrated but decided to help anyway, "Alright I'll look into your batshit story,"

"Thank you keep me posted," Matt stepped back and walked out. Hoping to find who is at the center of this conspiracy he figured who it might be, but wanted to find out for sure. Matts's hands gripped his cane angrily as he thought of who it could be...

Meanwhile...

Peter had been studying for the GED test and knew he could ace it no problem as it was easy for someone of his intelligence. He had already registered for a test and was walking through the city. He walked past an MIT registration poster on a bus stop, thinking of his plan to live with Ned and MJ in Boston. No Peter, move on, he thought to himself.

Peter spent a good minute looking at the poster but as soon as he looked away to continue walking, he bumped into someone knocking their laptop and folders out of their hands. "Oh no!" shouted the person.

Before the objects could hit the ground Peter's Spidey sense jolted him to the ground to catch the laptop, then the folders.

Peter stood back up quickly to look at the owner of these objects, holding the laptop and folder securely under his arm. The person in question was a beautiful blonde girl with a black hairband, very well dressed in a lab coat.

"I'm so sorry," said Peter. He looked down on the ground next to her and saw that he had spilled her coffee. Peter was so embarrassed. "Oh my God I-I am so sorry here," he said handing her back her things, "Please let me buy you a new one," he said stutteringly.

"Don't worry it's okay... wow, you have good reflexes," she said impressed.

"Thank you," Peter said surprised, "But please let me buy you a new one I'm so sorry,"

The girl looked at her watch and then back at Peter, she smiled, "Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt."

The two started walking to the nearest coffee shop, Peter, clearly intrigued by her asks nervously, "So uh, what's your name?" The girl was also a bit nervous but she grabbed the name tag on her lab coat, "Oh I'm uh Gwen, Gwen Stacy,"

Peter read the ID badge on her lab coat, it did indeed say Gwen Stacy but in the top left corner, it also read Stark Industries.

To be continued...
