Chapter 4: His Nemesis

Spider-Man swung towards Rockefeller Center he felt like an Avenger like Hawkeye would not need his help but wanted to help any way that he could. Spider-Man arrived on the scene and was observing from the side of the Rockefeller building. He was too late the whole battle had already ended.

"Oh my God the Christmas tree!" said Spider-Man seeing that the famous Christmas tree had fallen over.

"Tracksuit dudes being arrested some of them still passed out, Hawkeye might have done the job for us, speaking of which,"

Spider-Man scanned for Hawkeye and saw him walking away from the scene. "Better follow him,"

Spider-Man followed them back to the apartment they were operating out of they went in and came back out with a one-eyed dog on a leash.

It was dark and Clint walked with the leash as the dog sniffed around and Kate Bishop walked beside him the two still in their outfits.

"Maybe you can spend Christmas with us I mean better than being alone," said Clint.

"Your family wouldn't mind?" asked Kate.

"Laura and the kids are gonna love you," said Clint as he grinned, "let's finish walking him, and then we'll go,"

"Thank you," said Kate smiling as she was very appreciative of Clint and everything he has done for her.

Kate then heard a thud behind them and immediately pulled her bow out and fired an arrow at Spider-Man, which he evaded.

Clint pushed her bow to the side and yelled, "Wait!"

Kate looked at Clint confused, then Spider-Man stepped out of the darkness and Kate finally realized who he is.

"Oh my God, you're Spider-Man I am so sorry," said Kate.

"No, it's okay," Spider-Man said reassuring her, the dog jumped at Spider-Man and licked him across the mask, "Oh hey buddy, hi," he said as he petted him awkwardly.

"Hawkeye sir, um I know we fought each other at the airport but we're cool right?"

Spider-Man extends his hand to Clint who firmly shakes his hand and says, "We saved the world together so yeah we're good, lose the sir call me Clint,"

Clint was puzzled as to why Spider-Man approached him though, "So what are you doing here?"

"I need to know what happened tonight, I was looking into something suspicious that's been going on in the city and it led me to the tracksuit dudes,"

Kate then bursts out, "Hi I'm Kate, Kate Bishop,"

"Spider-Man, nice to meet you," he said.

Clint looked at the two of them and said, "Walk with us,"

The three walked through the city, and Spider-Man said to Clint and Kate, "So what happened?"

Clint then looked at Kate, "Go on tell him what happened,"

"My mom Eleanor is the CEO of Bishop Security, when my dad died she took over the company and also his debts with some dangerous people, After she was threatened by A guy named Armand Duqense III who is my mother's fiance's uncle, and then he was killed. I thought that it was Jack Duqense who is the fiance but it turned out to be my mom and framed him for it,"

"Wow that... that sucks I'm so sorry," said Spider-Man.

"Yeah well it's whatever, anyway that wasn't the only thing my mom framed Jack for there's a company called Sloan Limited that a lot of the tracksuits are on payroll for,"

"I know about Sloan, but how did the whole fight at Rockefeller happen?"

Clint stepped in and explained, "Eleanor tried to step away from doing business with one of those dangerous people and he did not like that, so he sent the tracksuits to kill her,"

"And I fought him but he got away," said Kate.

"So they messed up the Christmas tree?" asked Spider-Man inquisitively.

Kate looked sheepish and looked at Clint.

Clint replied, "No actually that was Kate,"

"Says the guy who was stuck in the tree,"

Clint rolled his eyes.

"So who's the guy at the center of this?" asked Spider-Man.

"They call him Kingpin..."

Meanwhile in Hell's Kitchen...

In a skyscraper overlooking Central Park, three black SUV's pulled up in front of the building, some men were there waiting with a stretcher. It took a few men to put the heavy Kingpin on the stretcher, but eventually, they got him on and wheeled him in. He was unconscious, his white suit covered in scorch marks and his eyes bleeding slowly.

"Francis," said Vanessa.

"Yes ma'am?" Francis replied to his boss.

"Get my husband up here as soon as possible and tell Dr. Rosenberg to be ready to get to work immediately," Vanessa commanded as she looked down upon the city.

The elevator dinged and the men roll out the stretcher to a room set up with medical equipment, Dr. Rosenberg was there waiting with a team of nurses.

"Get him on the bed and connect him to the IV, we need to get him ready to receive the transplant," he said.

One of the men who brought Kingpin to the doctor went up to speak to Vanessa.

"Ma'am Dr. Rosenberg has begun operating on Mr. Fisk and preparing him to receive the transplant, he would like to know when we will receive it,"

Vanessa looked away from the window and at the henchmen, "We will have it soon within the hour,"

Dr. Rosenberg and the nurses worked hard to stabilize the Kingpin as they knew their lives depended on it. After an hour, Vanessa was still waiting at the desk in the penthouse. The old her would have been in the room where the doctor was operating on her husband, but someone has to rule his empire while he is unable. She did care very much for him but prison changed her, made her appreciate Fisk's vision.

The elevator dinged and Vanessa watched as the doors slowly opened, A tall menacing figure in a dark green and purple mechanized suit with a glowing green symbol on the chest walked out, a flowing lightly tattered purple cape followed him, and his mask purple with small glowing green eyes with black surrounding them. The man approached Vanessa and put a small silver suitcase on the desk. Vanessa smiled and pulls the suitcase toward her, unlatched it, and inside are a pair of cybernetic eyeballs, and on the other side of the inside of the case it read Property of Agent Leopold Fitz, and under that the infamous S.H.I.E.L.D. logo.

"Well done, Prowler we've already paid you for the job and an extra five thousand as an advance," said Vanessa as she stood up.

"Five thousand for what?" said the Prowler in a deep voice.

"We have another job we will need you for when we're ready we will send you the details, but for now stay in New York,"

Vanessa waved one of the guards over and he immediately took the case and ran it down to Dr. Rosenberg.

"Incredible what organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, or the Avengers leave behind, you can go Prowler and thank you,"

With that, the Prowler walked into the elevator. In his heads-up display, he was receiving a call which he answered and only said, "Miles I can't talk right now I'll call you later."

A few hours later...

Daredevil groaned as he started waking up, he gasped and tried to sense his surroundings but couldn't as he was still in a lot of pain. He could however sense that Jessica Jones was there in the same room as him tied to a chair like he was. She too was waking up.

"Jessica... Jessica!"

Jessica groaned, "Where are we?"

"We got captured,"

Jessica was now fully awake, "Where's our Spider-friend?"

"He went to investigate that thing in Rockefeller remember,"

"So we're stuck," said Jessica.

The door opened and Tombstone walked in, "So you cats are looking into Sloan Limited why?"

Daredevil and Jessica stay quiet. Tombstone sighs and signals one of his henchmen to punch Daredevil, which he takes and smiles.

"Oh you think this is funny, huh? said Tombstone. He signals to another biker, "Shock her,"

The biker takes out what looks like a high-powered electric baton and hits Jessica with it, and she ground her teeth as it electrocutes her.

"Stop!" said Daredevil.

"Ready to talk, Devil-boy?" said Tombstone.

Daredevil hyperventilated, "I know what you're doing, you're hurting people, you're making a mess in my city, and I'm gonna hurt you,"

Tombstone laughed and grabbed Daredevil by the throat choking him, "You got some balls, Devil-boy, but you can't hurt me, so I'm gonna hurt you,"

Tombstone threw Daredevil and started beating him. Daredevil let out a scream in pain as he could do nothing...

Elsewhere...

Spider-Man tilted his head and laughed, "Kingpin? Never heard of him,"

"Well if you haven't you should look into him, if he's alive he's gonna be everybody's problem,"

"And he is not an easy person to beat,"

"I know I'm working with Daredevil on this but I should call him and tell him," said Spider-Man.

"Daredevil?" said Clint.

"Yeah, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen?" said Spider-Man.

"Does he know you're looking into Sloan?"

Spider-Man replied, "There's a possibility but I-I don't know-"

"Does he know?" Clint takes a few steps toward Spider-Man.

"He probably does," said Spider-Man.

Clint puts his hand on Spider-Man's shoulder, "Spider-Man, listen to me, Kingpin is no joke, he hates Daredevil and if he knows Daredevil is on him, he will kill him,"

Spider-Man starts to panic, "I need to go find him, you coming?"

Hawkeye sighs, and says, "Kid, I'm retired I only came out of retirement to clean up my mess, my priority is my family. Right now, all I want to do is get home to them and spend my first Christmas in a while with them."

Spider-Man looks away then back at Clint, "I understand, look uh Clint, Merry Christmas,"

"You too,"

The two heroes shake hands, meanwhile, Kate was in disbelief that she got to witness a conversation between two Avengers. Spider-Man was about to swing off when Kate burst out, "I can help you!"

Spider-Man looked at Kate and while skeptical wouldn't mind the help. Clint looked at Kate and simply said, "No,"

"But Clint I can help him,"

"Okay first of all he can handle himself and second of all, you already fought Kingpin and now you wanna fight him again? Hell no, let's go get our stuff together,"

Kate kept arguing as she wanted to see more action after the taste she had just gotten.

Spider-Man just watched the two Hawkeyes bicker for a minute, "Okay gotta go bye!"

Spider-Man swung as fast as he possibly could back to the hardware store in Hell's Kitchen. "I don't think I've ever swung anywhere this fast!" he said as he landed on the rooftop of a building flipping over a wall and jumping across the street to the next building.

He tried calling Daredevil, but the more he swang the longer it toned. He tried calling a good 4 or 5 times but no answer.

After quite possibly some of the fastest swinging he's ever done, Spider-Man arrived at the hardware store, hyperventilating, "Oh my God that was intense!" he said. After sneaking his way in he saw two tracksuit men standing in there surrounded by other passed-out tracksuits, webs, and guns littering the place.

"What a mess bro," said one of the tracksuits, "You know this job is good but when there is mess we have to clean it,"

"Why do you care it pays good no?" said the other tracksuit.

"Yes but I have Maroon 5 concert with my girlfriend and I do not think I make it bro,"

"Ah just shut up and clean bro,"

Spider-Man dropped down, "What's up bro!" he said as he webbed one of the tracksuits hands to the shelf behind them. "By the way, I love Maroon 5."

The other tracksuit raised his gun at Spider-Man but he quickly webbed it out of his hands and webbed his ankles at the same time. He then jumped to the ceiling and attached the web there leaving the tracksuit hanging.

With one of them hanging from the ceiling and the other webbed to the shelf, Spider-Man approached them as the two tried to break free of the webs.

"What is your favorite Maroon 5 song?" said the one on the shelf smiling actually excited to hear the web-slinger's taste in music.

"Oh, I like Payphone, memories, and the one where you tell me where Daredevil and Jessica Jones are,"

"Oh bro they are in trouble, big pale man took them, Tombstone I think his name is,"

"Tombstone? Okay, where?"

"Oh bro they are-" The tracksuit was about to say when the one hanging interrupted him.

"Hey bro! Shut up or we'll be dead,"

"You'll be in jail anyway so might as well tell me and maybe you won't get such a bad sentence,"

"No, we won't talk bro!"

"Okay well you leave me no choice," Spider-Man's eye lenses closed, and looked up.

The tracksuits looked at each other puzzled at what Spider-Man was doing, "What are you doing bro?"

"The spiders," he said.

Now the tracksuits were even more confused, "What? What are you talking about bro?"

"You're making me angry, I'm summoning the spiders, they come to my call, hundreds of them, thousands, and all of them at my command," Spider-Man said obviously bluffing, but the tracksuits looked genuinely concerned.

"Any minute those thousands of spiders will be crawling all over you until you won't be able to breathe, and do you know how?"

The tracksuits looked terrified at the thought of the spiders, "Why?!"

Spider-Man squinted and looked at them, "BECAUSE I'M SPIDER-MAN,"

"OKAY OKAY! We'll talk bro we'll talk but please no spiders bro!"

"Yes bro I am so terrified of spiders!"

Spider-Man giggled softly to himself as his mischievous plan worked.

"Check building on Columbus circle!"

"Yes tall one! Very tall one next to Central Park!"

Spider-Man couldn't quite believe that worked, "Okay gents thanks for your cooperation, I called you a ride it'll be the one with the flashing red and blue lights,"

He walked away but turns around looking back at the tracksuits, "Oh, and by the way, spiders are still coming,"

"NO!"

Spider-Man swung off into the night quickly to save Daredevil and Jessica, the tracksuits could still be heard screaming for help at the thought of the imaginary spiders. While he swings to Columbus Circle he dials Yuri.

"Captain Watanabe," said Yuri as she answered the phone.

"Yuri it's Spider-Man, there's an abandoned hardware store on 46th and 11th, you'll find plenty of guys in tracksuits and weird accents and a lot of evidence,"

"I'll send some units there to pick them up, Thanks Spider-Man,"

"Hey Yuri, does the name Tombstone mean anything to you?"

"Yeah, Lonnie Lincoln, fell into an Alchemax chemical plant and got powers, making him lose the color of his skin, but also super strong, and bulletproof skin has a lot of priors but no arrest warrant out for him right now as far as I know,"

"Bulletproof? Lovely," said Spider-Man as he ran across a rooftop and dove off.

"Why do you ask?" said Yuri.

"Well the tracksuits told me that he kidnapped Daredevil, I'm on my way to save him and I'm pretty sure he's working for someone called Kingpin,"

"Kingpin? Please do not tell me Wilson Fisk is at it again," said Yuri frustrated.

"Seems like it, I'll keep you updated almost there," Spider-Man said as he hung up. He dove onto a rooftop near the building the tracksuits talked about.

"Hmm this is it but it looks like it's in its final stages of construction," Spider-Man swung off towards the building.

Meanwhile...

Daredevil groans of pain from all the blows he's taken.

"We could keep doing this all night, I only have time, you're just wasting yours," he said.

Jessica was trying to muster the strength to break out of the binds but Tombstone's men injected her with something that was hindering her powers.

"What did you assholes inject me with?" said Jessica.

Tombstone laughed, "Heroes... you all are so pathetic, such gifts y'all got and y'all don't use it for something that gives you power, wealth, compassion is such a weakness,"

Tombstone walked over to Jessica and grabbed her by the neck, choking her, and lifted her up, "And now that compassion is gonna die with you,"

Daredevil yelled as he tried to break free, but suddenly there was a thud on the window which alerted one of Tombstone's men. The biker walked over to the window to investigate and didn't see anything. Then, Spider-Man came and kicked thug through the window, shattering it. Tombstone released Jessica and looked at Spider-Man who webbed the thug he just kicked and flung him right into Tombstone knocking him down. As Spider-Man webbed the last biker standing, he rushed over and grabbed a knife on a nearby table and cut Daredevil and Jessica free. Daredevil immediately went for his billy club and made sure Spider-Man had Jessica he then limped over to the broken window and jumped out. Spider-Man then carried Jessica out and jumped behind Daredevil.

The three had reached Jessica's apartment with Malcolm already waiting there and left Malcolm tending to her wounds. Spider-Man and Daredevil were then were about to part ways when Spider-Man stopped him, "Hey are you gonna be okay? You're kind of limping,"

Daredevil chuckled, "I've been through worse, so what did you find at Rockefeller?"

"Watch the news later and you can put everything together but there's one thing that they won't say in there,"

Daredevil's smile faded, "What?"

"The guy behind all of this, Sloan, the Tracksuits, Tombstone, its Kingpin,"

Daredevil froze. A mixture of rage, and fear for anyone in Fisk's way. His archenemy, his nemesis, was out again to turn New York upside-down. Spider-Man had never seen anyone so angry, Daredevil ground his teeth clenched his knuckles.

"Fisk..."

To be continued...
