T1: Attempted Pie-Jacking.

Elsewhere that same night, in the countryside of Grangeville, Idaho, inside Monica Duff's 19th century Victorian house, in the middle of the night, 10-year old Cameron Duff and his Dalmatian pup, Mickey, were sneaking downstairs to the kitchen to sneak two pieces of Grandma Monica's blackberry pie, with Cameron holding a flashlight that wasn't on. He wore a gray short sleeve shirt, red pajama plaid pants and white socks. After school let out for Thanksgiving break, Cameron's parents took him and Mickey to the airport and boarded the first plane to Grangeville, Idaho to gather at Monica's place with the whole family and spend the holidays together.

Cameron and Mickey made their way through the dark living-room and into the kitchen. They turned around to see if anyone was coming into the kitchen as they backed up further into it. Cameron soon bumped into someone who was standing in front of the refrigerator.

"AH!" Cameron and the mystery person screamed before they and Mickey turned to face each other. Cameron turned on his flashlight and shined it on the figure, revealing them to be his father, Bill Duff, in his blue robe and black house-shoes.

"What on Earth are you doing down here?" Bill asked.

"Oh, um, Mickey and i thought we heard somebody breaking in. What are you doing down here?" Cameron said.

"Uh, the same thing." Bill said.

"Pie's in the fridge." Cameron said.

"Yep." Bill said before he turned back to the fridge, opened it, and got out the blackberry pie, then he closed the door. "Nothing like sneaking a little blackberry pie before Thanksgiving." He said as he carried the pie over to the counter in the middle of the kitchen, with Cameron and Mickey following. He sat the pie down on the counter.

"Shh! Shh!" Cameron said.

"Don't shush me. This is not the first Billy Duff pie-jacking. Son, son, i am 33 years old and i have been jacking pies since i was 5 on Thanksgiving-1996. I got away with that one un-noticed. 1997, I got sloppy. Got busted. 1998, we got a dog named Sparky. From then on, the dog ate the pie." Bill said.

"Hahahahahaha!" Cameron and Bill laughed as they high-fived each other.

The kitchen lights then came on.

"AH!" Cameron and Bill screamed as they and Mickey turned to see 75-year old Monica Duff-Bill's mother-standing in the kitchen entrance in her pink robe and pink house-shoes, clearly having been the one who had turned the lights on. She had blond neck-length messy hair, blue eyes, she was middle-aged, and she was a little heavy-set. She wasn't fat, but she wasn't thin either. Actually, one could say she was a little bit of both. If that was even possible.

"Hey." Cameron greeted with a fake innocent smile on his face.

"So, i guess it's your nose i should've been shoving in the pan." Monica said.

"Well, actually, keeping his nose out of the pan would've been more of a punishment." Cameron said.

"Oh, be quiet, Cam." Bill said. "Mother. My sweet Mommy."

"Ah, save it. I've got a few secrets of my own. I have been stashing away a pie or two ever since i saw the size of your sweet tooth." Said Monica.

"Oh. Grandma Monica, the pie hider." Cameron said.

"And don't you forget it. Now out of here. All three of you. Out of the kitchen. Out." Monica said.

Cameron, Mickey and Bill exited the kitchen and headed back upstairs to bed.

"(Sighs) Boys, i tell ya." Monica said as she went over to the counter in the center of the kitchen. She picked up the pie, carried it over to the fridge, opened it's door, placed the pie back inside, closed the door, walked over to the light-switch on the wall by the exit, turned the kitchen-lights off, then exited the kitchen and headed back upstairs to bed.
