The world seemed to be fading in and out, one minute there was the usual chaos and the next utters silence. The leap back and forth between the two made the usual chaos even more overwhelming when it returned to flood her ears. Then once she'd readjust, the silence would come. It made her feel uneasy. She assumed this is what everyone else heard everyday, but compared to what she was used to it was like the world was removed altogether.

She was losing her gift.

She knew the rest of the family had to be freaking out too, the weather was more sporadic than normal so her mother must be feeling the affects of whatever was happening. She tried to focus; focus on Mirabel, find Mirabel. Focus. But the moment she honed in on anything, it would sink away or be overpowered. It made her dizzy. With her gift fading, she wasn't sure how she could be helpful. What else was she able to do?

"Our family got a miracle, how do you save a miracle?" came a voice between the static. Bruno? To hear him was nothing new, but he was… talking to someone? Someone else knew? Who was Bruno with? Was he here to fix the prophecy?

The sound bounced in and out again and she lost the connection she had. Without her gift, she felt like she knew nothing. She didn't know where anyone was, she had never wandered before without being bombarded with unwanted voices. Now nothing could find her. She had used to wish for this, but now she felt small. Before she knew too much, now she knew nothing.

She knew Luisa was struggling and she could tell her mother and Camilo were losing their gift too. What about Isabela? With everything going on and her proposal ruined, surely she was miserable. Dolores cursed herself for not thinking to check on her prima sooner. She knew deep down it was because Dolores knew if she had not heard Mirabel's secret moments before dinner, she would have revealed a secret just as damning. She sued to slip into daydreams where she'd reveal her feelings and everything worked out somehow, but she knew they had no real world follow through. But now here she was face to face with a consequence that was possibly meant to be. Was she always meant to play a part in ruining this proposal? She'd be lying if she said she hadn't thought about it before, the thoughts happened without her trying but they made her feel ashamed and sneaky. She never rooted against Isabela, but she was never loud enough to root for herself.

She was somewhat relieved she wasn't the sole reason the proposal as ruined, but she knew she played a role and she needed to make things right. If her gift was fading and her idea of clarity was fading with it, she needed to make amends before it become too late. She need to be honest with Isabela, with herself. Maybe not everything that had been hidden had to be revealed all at once, but she couldn't pile more on top of it and bury it down further. The first step was making sure Isabela was okay. It could take days, maybe weeks for her to recover and be ready to talk about her future, and-

"I never wanted to marry him, I was doing IT for the family!" her gift came shooting back and the words sprang forth crystal clear. There was no misunderstanding her cousin, yet Dolores did not believe it.

After years of guilt and secrets, the answer was so simple! Isabela didn't love Mariano. Isabela didn't love Mariano! Dolores heard Mirabel on the other side of the door, she was safe and sound and found and Isabela didn't love Mariano! No, no; that wasn't what she was here to do. There were several priorities before this. But... Mariano! His nose! His plan! His heart!

His heart.

Isabela wasn't in love with Mariano, but Mariano was in love with Isabela.

Dolores' heart hurt, not in self pity but in sympathy. She knew how deeply he felt everything and watching the proposal he had so carefully planned go anything less than perfect broke her heart in a way that distracted her from the preexistent ache.

There was too much to be concerned about she didn't know where to begin. It didn't feel appropriate or possible to console Mariano, especially since the worst was yet to come, and Mirabel and Isabela were clearly in the middle of something. So where did that leave her? Surely Mirabel wasn't the only one who could help the miracle because Dolores knew she wasn't the one hurting it, at least not the only one. Having these secrets didn't hurt the family exactly, but it put distance between her and Isabela who she had always considered her best friend. Whether Mariano was a part of her future or Isabela's future didn't matter anymore, Dolores knew she couldn't keep being silent. Nothing good had come from it, but nothing bad had come from it. Nothing had come from it. The only thing she had to show from it were secrets, but maybe she could have something more lasting and real.

She had listened long enough, now she had to act.

She went to find Bruno.
