Chapter 2: Realization
Amanda groaned; her head was killing her. She felt as thought she'd been hit by a truck. She sighed as she tried to open her eyes; her eyelids felt so heavy, her vision blurred. As she went to move her arms to rub her eyes and sit up, she was instantly jolted awake in fear as she felt her arms bound. She glanced up to see her arms bound to a bed frame by rough rope. She began to pull at the rope, panicking as she tried to free herself. She felt her wrist becoming chaffed as she shifted, trying to loosen the tie. Someone had bound her wrist far enough apart so they couldn't reach each other and with little slack. She felt sick to her stomach and chills down her spine as she released she was no longer dressed in her dark pants and buttoned down shirt, but in a long spaghetti strapped white chemise. Whoever had her grabbed her had not only bound her to a bed while she was unconscious, but changed her outfit. Her heart pounded in her chest as she looked around the room, trying to assess her surroundings. She had no idea where she was. The room was fairly bare. There were no paintings, no windows, no décor of any kind. She had a small side table next to the bed with a vodka bottle placed on it, and in the corner of the room diagonal to the bed was a table with a laptop set up and a small camera. If Amanda wasn't already feeling nauseous, she was now.
She began to pull again at the rope, trying to break free. Ignoring the burning sensation on her wrists, determined to break free. Her stomach dropped as she heard the door open. She stared at it in horror, waiting to see who was about to come through.
"Took you long enough," a man walked through the door smirking as he saw Amanda conscious.
"Carl?" she said, partly furious but mostly scared. What the hell was happening?
"Miss me?" he questioned as he closed the door and made his way over to her. He grinned as he saw her becoming more and more uncomfortable the closer he got. "Did anyone tell you how beautiful you are?"
"What do you want?" she snapped at him, unwilling to play his games.
"I want my father to be released."
"That isn't going to happen."
"Oh, I think it's going to," he replied as he gently stroked her cheek before placing a hand under her cheek. "You see, once your Captain sees I have something to trade. Well, I'm guessing you're a little valuable."
"Your father is a convicted serial killer; they won't just release him."
"Oh… I think they will," he replied as stared down at her. He began to look her up and down. He could enjoyed the psychological games, the more he caressed her with his eyes the more uncomfortable she became. "They release him, or they'll never see you alive again."
"They won't just release him like that. Even if they were willing to let him go, these things take time, they aren't instant."
"Well, it's a good thing I have things planned in the meanwhile," he smirked as reached out and ran his hand from her neck down towards her breast.
Amanda did her best to maintain a calm demeanour, but on the inside she was terrified. God help her.
Olivia smiled as she had her arm wrapped around Noah who was snuggled into her asleep. He had barely made it through the movie they were watching before she looked down and found him completely passed out. She had initially thought about moving him to his bed, but she didn't want to let him go. It was the first evening they had been together in nearly a week and she wanted the blissful night to end. She sighed as she heard her phone buzz on the coffee table. She slowly untucked her arm from Noah, and rested his head on the pillow before she grabbed her phone. She looked at the caller ID confused, wondering why Amanda's babysitter was calling.
"Hello?" she answered quietly as she made her way from Noah so she wouldn't wake him. She glanced at the clock, it was already past 10pm.
"Hi, Olivia? It's Jenny, Amanda's babysitter."
"Hi Jenny, is everything okay?"
"Yeah," she said hesitantly. "I was just wondering if you heard from Amanda or knew where she was."
"She's not home?" Olivia asked worried.
"No, she called around seven to let me know she was going to pick up food then be home, but she hasn't shown up yet," Jenny replied uneasy. "I've tried to call her several times, I know sometimes something comes up, like she got called into a meeting on her way out to door, but she always calls me back within an hour. I tried to call her number at work too and no one is answering."
"Let me see if I can get a hold of her. Are you okay to stay with Billie and Jesse?"
"Oh yeah, I have no plans I stay overnight if you need, I was just getting worried and thought maybe I should call you."
"Thanks Jenny, I'm glad you did. I'll call once I get in touch with her."
"Thanks Olivia."
Olivia hung up the phone before she began to dial the next person she could think of. She did her best not to worry Carisi when she called him, she was hoping if Amanda hadn't gone home that she'd gone to his place. She'd appreciated when they began a relationship they were quick to inform her of the fact. Amanda had a knack of keeping things private, so Olivia appreciate Carisi's transparency. Unfortunately, Olivia's attempt at keeping a calm voice did nothing to stop Carisi from immediately jumping into panic mode. She tried to settle him, there wasn't any need to get all worked up until they had reason to. Although she seemed to have calm him a bit, it didn't stop her own internal worry that was beginning to stir. She had a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Once she spoke to Fin she had him call Kat. She wanted everyone back at the precinct until they could locate Amanda. Something wasn't right. After the week they'd endured there was no way she went to a bar or off on her own. If she, Fin, nor Carisi had heard from her, it was a problem. She called Lucy immediately and felt fortunate she was able to head over right away. She gently woke Noah to let him know she had to leave and that Lucy was coming over. She helped her groggy son into his bed and kissed him goodnight. She felt fortunate he fell back asleep so easily. Olivia was out the door within fifteen minutes from her call with Lucy, and headed straight for her office – every few minutes redialing Amanda's cell number, getting frustrated each time it went to voicemail.
"Amanda, where are you?" she whispered to herself as she pulled into the precinct parking lot. Something was very very wrong.
