Talks and A Concert
A/N: The second chapter of 'My Immortal-Rewrite'. There are two extra scenes. Also, if I do not own the lyrics to 'The Chronicles of Life and Death'.
As I returned to my dorm, I found B'loody Mary, or Mary as we call her sitting on her bed reading a book. At my entrance, she momentarily shifted her attention to me to interrogate me about, you guessed it. About my 'date' with Draco Malfoy to the concert.
"Ebony," she said as a greeting. She put a bookmark on the page she was reading and put it down. "I heard from Willow that you are going to the GC concert with Draco?"
Damn Willow and her gossiping nature. I smiled forcefully and answered her question. "Mary," I greeted her, dipping my head to her as I sat down besides her on her bed. "You must have been misinformed. It is not a date. We're just going as friends." Frankly, I was tired of saying the same thing to all my friends. I had been stopped by Ginny 'Darkness' Weasley, Luna Lovegood and Crabbe and Goyle as well as Diabolo.
Mary sniffed, raising her nose into the air. "Well," she said, with a hint of her old bossy voice, "do you like him or not?"
I felt a rush of annoyance. Why didn't anybody believe me when I told them that I didn't like Draco? But then I thought of his tousled silver hair and how soft it was- don't go there. I sighed. "I do," I admitted.
Mary smiled. "I knew it," she said triumphantly. "I knew it. I knew it. I knew it." She did a little jig in the middle of the room which was kind of unusual for her.
I finally grew so tired of her behavior that I decided to turn the tables on her. "Alright," I interrupted and Mary stopped dancing. "What about your crush on Diabolo Weasley?"
My friend faltered. I smirked. "I got to go," she said hurriedly. "I have to do...stuff. Right, um...stuff." With that she hurried out of the dorm, leaving me alone in the dorm.
"You got to admit it, girl!" I yelled after her. "It's the only way you'll manage to get him to kiss you. Unless you just decide to snog him senseless in the middle of a war in the Chamber of Secrets." But Mary was already long gone. Willow was probably in a broom closet with Dracula 'Neville' Longbottom. They were dating, you see.
The room was frightfully empty. The silence was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. I sighed and laid down. Could I ever be normal?
Draco Malfoy stifled a sigh as he flopped down on his bed. Ignore that. Malfoys do not sigh, nor do they flop down on their beds. Nor do they act lovesick, no matter what Vampire, Diabolo or Dracula say. They're just lying.
"When are you gonna tell her?" asked a voice. Vampire came out of the shadows. He was smiling nostalgically.
"Tell her what?" Draco asked his friend.
"That you love her?" Vampire smiled again. This time, it was bittersweet. At Draco's protest, he smiled. "You know you do."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Vampire said turning to face the window that showed a lovely view of the inside of the Black Lake. "It was never meant to work out."
"If you're sure," said Draco, not sure what his friend meant to say.
"I am," said Vampire. "Besides you've found love now." He turned to switch the radio on. Top of the World by Imagine Dragons played out.
"It's too soon to know," argued Draco.
"Don't you dare," interrupted Harry. "Don't you dare to deny it, Draco. You love her," he added more gently. "And you know what they say," he jerked his head towards the radio. "If you love somebody, better tell them while they're here."
Draco nodded. "And what about you?" he asked his friend. "Have you found somebody?"
There was a pregnant pause. "No," Vampire whispered. "I'm not sure there's somebody out there for me."
"There is," said Draco. "And don't you forget it...Harry."
Vampire jerked. "Who?" he pleaded.
"Darkness for one," said Draco, standing up. "There's a million girls out there who want you, Harry. It's the matter of finding the right one."
"Don't call me Harry," snapped Vampire. "I gave up that name ages ago."
"So you'll desert the name your parents gave you?" asked his blond friend. "Desert their memories? Forget the love they had-have for you?"
Harry sighed. "One day," he promised. "One day, I'll take it back."
"I'll hold you to that," said Draco.
As evening dawned, I got ready for the concert. I dressed in a black floor-length dress with full sleeves. I straightened my hair and painted my nails black. I put on a bit of black eyeliner and slipped on a pair of black lace-up boots. I also put on some dark-purple lipstick. I was ready.
I made my way to the Entrance Hall. Draco was waiting there for me in front of his flying car. He was wearing a t-shirt and black jeans that so nicely outlined his-nope! I'm not going down that road. I bade goodbye to Willow, Dracula, Vampire, Darkness, Mary and Diabolo who were going together.
"Hi Draco!" I greeted him enthusiastically.
"Hi Ebony." he greeted me back. We walked into his flying car and flew to the place with the concert. On the way we talked about everyday things.
"So Draco," I said feeling the leather of the car seat. "Where did you get this car?"
Draco laughed. "Oh, Ebony," he said. "You'd be surprised one can get his hands into when their father is pretty high up in the Ministry."
"Tell me he didn't do anything illegal to get this car," I hissed. Draco just laughed again and I took it as a 'yes'. What am I going to do with him?
We also listened to some Marilyn Manson songs on the we got there, we both hopped out of the car. The place was crowded and we had to shoulder our way in. We went to the mosh pit at the front of the stage and moshed to the music.
"These are the chronicles of life and death and everything between
These are the stories of our lives, as fictional as they may seem
You come in this world
And you go out just the same
Today could be the best day of your life" sang Joel Madden, the lead vocals of the band.
"Joel is hot," I shouted to Draco to be heard by him over the loud noise the audience were making. Upon hearing this, Draco looked like someone had kicked his puppy. "What's wrong?" I asked. Then I caught on and subsequently winced. That must have sounded awful. And absolutely not the thing to say on a not-date with a boy you like. "Hey, it's okay. I don't like him! I just think he's hot," I said. "I'm allowed to appreciate, am I not?" I teased him.
Draco perked up. Upon seeing this, I continued. "I'm not kidding," I said. "Besides I don't even know Joel and he's going out with Hilary Duff. And I am many things, but I'm not one to make a boy or man cheat on somebody for me," I said. That was something I would never do.
The night went on really well after that and Draco and I had a great time. After the concert, we drank some beer (we're of age) and asked Benji and Joel Madden for their autographs and photos with them. We got concert tees. Draco and I made our way back into the Mercedes-Benz, but Draco didn't go back into Hogwarts. Instead he drove the car into the Forbidden Forest!
A/N: Firstly, I know many things have been changed, like the extra conversation with Draco and Vampire. Also, I plan to not end the fic with the words 'abra kedabra'. I want to give it a proper ending. I also want to add that I am not a My Immortal expert, just a person who would like to change it for the better. Also, with Draco calling Vampire 'Harry'...you remember the 'goffickness' from the previous chapter, right? That's gonna be a plot point further on. So, you might get bouts of in-character-ness from the characters. Also, I will not be able to update from 10th to 19th October for personal reasons. This chapter is only a thousand words, but I had little source material, considering this was done with one chapter, unlike the previous one which was done with three.
