When the family had gotten home, Gabriella took her sister up to their room. The girl had calmed down in the car and Jack had sent Jacob up to his room for him to calm himself before he'd be called back down later on to explain himself. Gabriella placed Lilliana on the bed, before exiting the room to grab the first aid kit and returned, fixing up the bloody grazes on her sister's knees. Once her cuts were cleaned and plastered, the girl climbed into her sister's lap, leaning against her shoulder. "Are you ok Liv?" The six-year-old nodded. "Why didn't you tell me that Jakie was being mean to you?"

She shrugged. "I don't know, I didn't want to get him in trouble."

"What has he been doing?"

"He picks on me at school. He trips me over when we line up and he calls me names, saying I'm adopted."

Gabriella shook her head. "He shouldn't do that, was tonight the first time he's physically hurt you?" Lilliana nodded. "Ok thank you for telling me Sweet Girl, and next this happens with Jakie or anyone else, please tell me."

"Ok Bria."

"Ok, how about we go downstairs and maybe we can find out why Jakie's been mean to you?" The girl nodded and they walked down to the living room. Jack called out to his youngest son, the boy walking downstairs and slumping on the single lounge.

Jack started the conversation. "Alright Jakie, you're gonna get the chance to explain yourself now but if you start yelling or anything like what happened at the restaurant, you'll lose your chance." The father gestured for his son to begin.

"I already told you."

"Why do you feel that way, what has happened to make you feel like Lilly's the favourite?"

The boy's eyes narrow. "Because everything's always about Lilly. Every person you talk to, you're always talking about Lilly and they always ask about Lilly. Lilly gets to make all the decisions and pick everything. Everything's about her."

Lucille sighed, "it's not like that Jakie."

"Yes it is, don't lie. You always talk to Lilly first when you pick us up and you always ask what Lilly wants." The boy turned his attention to his dad. "And you're only try and help Lilly, you don't care about me, neither of you do."

"We love you Jakie and we're sorry that we made you feel that way, but you should've talked to us. Why did you take it out on Lilly?"

He turned to the little girl, his voice softened, laced with unshed tears. "She played basketball with Troy. I play with Troy not her."

(Flashback - 1 week earlier)

Gabriella was sitting on the veranda doing her homework while Troy showed Lilliana the treehouse in the backyard. When Gabriella looked up after completing her maths homework, she smiled as she saw Troy showing his sister how to shoot a hoop. When she looked back down, she didn't see Troy whisper to the girl and Lilliana nod with a grin. She only felt hands under arms before being lifted into the air. She squealed, "Troy!" Gripping him tightly, she relaxed slightly as she heard her sister's giggle before he planted her in the centre of the court. She glared at him without any real force. "Was that necessary?"

"Very much Brie." He shot a hoop before turning back to the girls. "Join us for a game?"

"I'd love to.

The two juniors chased the six-year-old around the court, passing the ball between the three of them before the boy lifted his sister onto his shoulders for her to throw the ball into the hoop. When the ball swished through the net, she cheered and Gabriella smiled as she watched Troy spin the little girl. Her eyes strayed to find Jacob standing by the door, she smiled softly. "Jakie, wanna come play?" He shook his head before disappearing back inside. She was somewhat confused at his response but her sister calling to her brought her attention back.

(end flashback)

Troy spoke up to his brother. "But Gabriella offered you to come play."

The boy shook his head. "It's not fair, basketball's our thing, she doesn't even like sports."

Lilliana stood up and walked to her brother, giving him a hug. "I'm sorry Jakie."

Troy watched as his brother's hands tighten and saw the movement in his arms. "Don't you dare push her."

The boy's arms immediately relaxed and he shrugged out of her grip, only for the girl to return to her sister's side. "I don't want you to say sorry. I'm not angry at you."

Troy moved to a place beside Jacob. "Look, I know basketball is our thing and we've always played it together, and you know what, that will always be our thing. I don't play with Lil the way I do with you, we may shoot hoops and run around the court but we don't play ball like we do. You'll always be my little brother Jakie and we'll have heaps of stuff that'll be our things but I've also gotta be a good brother to Lilly as well ok? That doesn't mean I favour her anymore, I love both of you."

Jacob hugged his brother tightly. "I love you too."

"Just talk to me next time ok? You don't need to do anything else to get your point across. Just talk to all of us."

"Ok Troy."
