The Boltons were sitting at the gate for their flight, having arrived with an extra 15 minutes to spare. Lilliana was talking to Jacob by the window – watching the planes go down the runway – when she felt eyes on her, making her feel anxious. "Jakie, can we go sit with Bria and Troy?" The boy nodded and they walked over to where the juniors were sitting. Lilliana held her arms out to Gabriella, who smiled, lifting the girl onto her lap. The six-year-old leaned up to whisper to her sister. "Jack keeps staring at me and I don't like it."
Gabriella looked across at Jack in her peripheral vision as he stared and hugged the little girl. "Is it making you uncomfortable?"
Lilliana nodded. "Why is he staring at me?"
"I don't know Sweet Girl, we can ask him?" Lilliana shook her head. "I'm sure he'd stop if you asked or if you said it was making you uncomfortable."
Troy interjected, having heard the conversation. "It's alright Lil, I'll ask, that way you and Gabriella don't get in trouble, does that sound better?" Lilliana nodded, quietly thanking him. "It's alright Lil." He looked across to his parents who were sitting a metre away and even he didn't like the way Jack was staring at the two girls. "Dad, is everything ok?"
"Yes why?" He said shortly.
"'Cause you're staring Lilly down and it's kinda making us all uncomfortable."
Jack huffed. "I don't understand why it's so hard for people to accept the name that we gave our daughter." The rest of the group looked at each other confused, even Lucille wasn't understanding what Jack was implying. "Everything around that damn house is Olivia Tompson, Olivia, Olivia, Olivia."
Gabriella spoke up hesitantly. "In our defence, we only knew her as Olivia in that house and we haven't been back there, everyone knew her as Olivia."
"Yeah and how long have you known that she's not Olivia? And yet those two girls are still calling my daughter a name that is not hers, so not only are people disrespecting the name we gave her, now I have to see a god damn reminder of the name given to her by the bastards who stole her." Lilliana tensed at his loud, harsh tone and flinched at his swearing, which Gabriella pulled her closer in an attempt to soothe, which only fuelled Jack's rage. "And you," he directed to Gabriella. "When we came to pick up our daughter, you were still calling her Olivia, while we were there."
Lucille jumped in. "Jack, that's enough."
"I want that stupid bracelet off her Lucille, that is not her name. Olivia does not exist." Lilliana gripped her bracelet tightly and looked up to Gabriella who shook her head.
"Jack you are being ridiculous, you are angry at two little girls who were friends with our daughter for calling her the only name they know her as and you're angry at a sixteen-year-old girl for not calling the little girl who was raised as her sister by a name she had no idea about until the day before. That's a big change and you should respect that." She could still see the anger in his expression. "Look at our children, look at our two little six-year-olds and how they're reacting to your behaviour." Jack softened as he saw Lilliana clinging onto Gabriella and even Jacob was in Troy's arms looking nervous. "Is a bracelet with a name really worth scaring your six-year-olds."
He shook his head and exhaled sharply. "I'm sorry." He looked over at the twins. "I didn't mean to get angry and I'm sorry if I scared you, can Daddy get a hug?" Jacob hesitantly obliged but Lilliana didn't move, burying her head into Gabriella and gripping her neck tightly.
"I'm sorry, she gets clingy after confrontations."
Lucille put her hand out in front of Jack to stop his response, smiling sadly at the teenager. "It's alright Sweetheart, we understand."
As the Boltons slowly went back into conversation, Lilliana whimpered lowly to Gabriella. "Like Papa."
Gabriella sighed, wanting to curse Jack for giving the little girl more anxiety about connecting with the man. "It's alright Liv, he's not like Papa. Jack was just angry that's all, he's not very good at controlling it but you don't have to be scared, he's not like Papa, I promise."
They got home and had a late dinner before it was 8:30 and it was time for the twins to get to bed. Lilliana went to hug her parents good night, quietly saying. "Good night Jack and Lucille."
"Good night Lilly, we love you to the end of the universe." Lilliana stepped back and shook her head. "What's wrong Angel?"
"Only Bria says that."
Jack pushed. "But that was before, now you have Mommy and Daddy so we can share it with Gabriella or it can be something that Mommy and Daddy have with you."
Lucille watched as her daughter shook her head slowly. "It's alright Lilly, we understand that it's a special thing that only you and Gabriella do ok? But we do love you."
Lilliana nodded and she walked with Gabriella out of the room up the stairs before they stopped, Gabriella looking down at her sister. "Do you want Harmony and Cheer Bear tonight?" The little girl grinned, nodding. "Alright, I'm going to talk to Troy for a minute so how about you brush your teeth and get the care bears and come in to say good night to Troy, then we'll go to bed?"
"Ok Bria."
With that, Gabriella knocked on the boy's door, hearing a quiet 'come in.' She walked over and sat on the edge of his bed. "Livie's gonna be in soon to say good night then we're gonna go to bed." He nodded, knowing that she had more to add to her statement. "I just wanted to say thank you for today, it was really hard going back to the house and just remembering how our life was plus adding in whatever upset your dad at the airport but it really helped having you there and made it a bit easier."
Troy took one of her hands in his, squeezing it gently. "I knew it would be hard for you and Lil and I knew that it was harder for you than you were letting on." He kissed the back of her hand. "Besides, you're my girl now, it's my job to be there for you so you don't have to say thank you."
She smiled shyly. "Well thank you anyway." She leaned forward and pecked his lips. "Because I know we'll have a little girl interrupting soon and we can't do that, so I'll say good night now."
He chuckled quietly, returning the gesture. "Sweet dreams Brie."
Sure enough, as predicted, the little girl came through the door just as they put distance between themselves. She looked to Gabriella. "All finished." The teen smiled in response and the six-year-old walked over to her brother, giving him a hug. "Good night Troy."
The boy placed a kiss on the top of her head. "Sweet dreams Lil, I'll see you in the morning." He saw the expectant look from his sister and chuckled. "I know Lil, I was getting there." He looked over at Gabriella with a smirk. "Night Brie."
"Good night Troy."
As Gabriella tucked Lilliana under the covers, there was a soft knock on the door before Lucille opened it. "Can I come in?" Both girls nodded and she walked to stand at the end of the bed. "I'm sorry for Jack's behaviour today. He should know better than to act like that and I know it scared Lilly."
Gabriella nodded, stroking the little girl's hair, missing the wistful gaze of the girl's mother. "It does scare her, it's a big reminder of our life in Denver and confrontation's really not something she deals well with but he's her dad so I know I don't really have any right to comment."
Lucille sighed. "Frankly you've been more of a parent to her in her lifetime than we have." She shook her head. "Regardless of his authority, it was wrong for him to do that and I'm sorry." The girls nodded in response. "Anyway, I'll let you girls go to bed, 'cause I don't want Lilly up this late, good night."
"Good night Lucille." They responded. Gabriella got into bed with her sister after turning off the lights and felt her cuddle closer than normal. She placed a kiss on her forehead. "I know it's been a big day Baby, but it'll get easier." Gabriella quietly sang the little girl somewhere over the rainbow before hugging her closer. "Tomorrow's another day Sweet Girl and I love you every day to the end of the universe. Sweet dreams Livie."
"Sweet dreams Bria, I love you every day to the end of the universe."
