When Troy and Gabriella walked into school the next morning, Sharpay eagerly approached them - specifically the latter. "I'm gonna do it!" She grinned. "I've made my decision and I'm not backing out."

Troy looked at Gabriella confused but the girl ignored him, responding to her friend. "That's awesome, I hope it goes well for you and I think it will. Do you know when you're going to ask?" The girl shook her head. "Well don't look now but he's at his locker."

The girl's eyes widened before she took a deep breath. "Alright, I'm just gonna do it while I have the nerve."

Gabriella smiled reassuringly. "Good luck Shar."

As the blonde walked towards her crush, Troy leant down to his girlfriend. "What is happening?"

"Shh you'll see."

Sharpay stopped in front of Zeke, the boy yet to notice her presence. "Zeke?"

The boy turned to her with a smile. "Hi Sharpay."

"I wanted to ask you something so I'm just gonna come right out and say it. Would you want to be my date to the homecoming dance?"

"Really?" The boy asked and the blonde nodded, becoming increasingly more nervous, however, the feeling faded as he grinned at her. "I'd love that! I've wanted to ask you for so long but I didn't think you liked me like that."

"You like me?" The girl asked hesitantly and was shocked as Zeke smashed his lips against hers, only pulling apart as they heard a wolf whistle and the uncharacteristic blush returned to Sharpay's cheeks. "I'll take that as a yes then."

"That depends as long as you agree to be my girlfriend?"

"I'd love to." She said, placing a kiss on his cheek.

"Come on, let's go see Troy and Gabriella."

At the mention of the latter's name, Sharpay immediately turned and ran to tackle Gabriella in a hug, the girl only remaining steady by her boyfriend's quick reflexes. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

The girl patted her friend's shoulder before pulling away. "You don't have to thank me, I didn't do anything, that was all you Shar."

"Still, I wouldn't have tried if it wasn't for you."

Troy wrapped his arm around Gabriella. "My girl is ever the matchmaker. Never thought I'd see the day where Zeke and Sharpay are actually dating." Before anything else could be said, the bell rang and the juniors walked off to homeroom.

After the bell rang for lunch, Gabriella left her world history class and walked to her locker. As she went to open the locker, her eyes lit up at the balloons spelling out homecoming and she turned around to look for Troy. Her expression faltered when she noticed the boy in front of her with a smirk. "So I see you found my surprise."

"Why are you doing this Ryan?" She said, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked at the students swarming the halls. "And why in front of everyone?"

The boy only shrugged arrogantly. "What do you say Gabriella? Homecoming?"

She shook her head, despite the large number of people staring at her. "No thank you, I'm going with my friends and I know you're only asking me to bother Troy."

"So what if I am, it's not like he's asked you so?"

"My answer still stands."

Ryan rolled his eyes. "Whatever Montez." He huffed, storming past her and bumping her shoulder.

As the crowd started to disperse, she locked eyes with Troy and saw the anger flood through them as he stormed off to the rooftop. She put her books away, allowing him a few seconds ahead before she followed him up to their secret spot where she sat down quietly beside him, waiting for him to start. When nothing was said, she sighed. "I'm not leaving until we talk, I hope you realise that." Troy didn't acknowledge her statement and she waited a few minutes before exhaling sharply. "Look I don't really understand why you're mad at me, I did everything I should of and I didn't do anything wrong."

Troy sighed before he faced his girlfriend. "You didn't do anything wrong Brie."

"Then why are you mad at me?"

He shook his head. "I'm not mad at you, you did everything I could've possibly asked you to. I'm just- I'm pissed off at Ryan. What right does he have to ask you to homecoming, you're my girl and he shouldn't be asking you."

Placing her hand on one of his wrists, she spoke quietly. "I hate to be the voice of reason here but no one outside of our friends know we're together."

"He still shouldn't have asked you, I told him to back off of you."

Gabriella chose to take a different approach. "But I said no Troy, isn't that what matters?"

Troy slid his hands through his hair and took a deep breath, occupying himself for around seconds before he turned to Gabriella and took her hands in his own. "You're right and I'm sorry for my behaviour, I overreacted."

"Only a little but we talked it out and were able to get through it, as long as we keep our communication open, it's ok." He nodded in response. "Ok, do you want to go to the cafeteria for lunch?"

"Sounds like a plan." Gabriella stood and started walking over towards the stairs, before Troy grabbed her hand and pulled her back to his chest, placing a lasting kiss on her lips that made her breathless. "I love you Baby."

"I love you too."
