When they arrived home on Friday afternoon, Gabriella approached her boyfriend's father with Troy beside her. "Jack, can I talk to you about something?" The man nodded, giving the teenager his full attention. "I was thinking about what you said about doing the interview and I think I want to do it."
"I think that's a great decision, it will make your life a lot easier to get it out in the open and to stop the press from following you around. I can call into a local station and get a time if you like." The girl nodded. "Alright, I'll let you know what they say."
"Thank you."
As his father walked away, Troy placed his hand's on Gabriella's shoulders and squeezed gently. "Are you sure about this? You know you don't have to do it if you aren't comfortable."
The girl leant back into him before sighing. "I don't really want to but I'm more uncomfortable with the idea that these people are going to just keep following me. I'd rather just get the interview over with now."
"That's fair Baby."
Jack had came back to the living room, informing the couple that a journalist would be at the house the next morning to take the interview with Gabriella. The girl sat on the couch that morning between her boyfriend and her sister, fiddling nervously with the bracelet on her wrist. "Are you sure this is ok to wear for the interview."
Troy squeezed her shoulder gently. "You look beautiful Brie, don't worry, it's gonna be fine."
She smiled in return to the boy and felt the little girl hold her hand but before she could overthink too much, they heard a knock on the door and Lucille entered with the news crew behind her. Troy gave her shoulder another squeeze in silent reassurance – knowing he couldn't be too obvious around his mother – before he left the room. Lilliana hugged her sister, whispering in her ear. "I love you Bria, good luck."
Gabriella placed a kiss on the top of her head. "Thanks Little One."
Once the Boltons were out of the room, the journalist introduced himself. "Good morning Gabriella, I'm Andrew Harvey and I'll be conducting the interview today. Thank you for agreeing to meet with us." The girl smiled weakly and nodded in response. "I understand this is a quite uncomfortable situation so how about we start and we'll try to get it over with." Once again the girl nodded so they started the interview. "Alright Gabriella, would you like to tell me what happened to you?"
"I was kidnapped from my parents when I was a toddler and after saving myself and my adopted sister a few months ago, I was kidnapped again by those same people."
"Would you be comfortable giving me the names of the people who kidnapped you?"
Gabriella squeezed her hands together out of view. "David and Vivien Tompson."
"Do you have any understanding on why they kidnapped you either of those times?"
"I was told by Vivien that I was kidnapped the first time because they had been friends with my parents since high school and their jealousy caused them to kidnap me." She paused for a few seconds. "They went to jail when we found out that we'd been kidnapped but they had been bailed out. They were part of a gang, I'm not really sure what but it involved drugs and since David was the leader of the gang, they kidnapped me again as punishment for putting them in jail."
"Well I'm sure you're glad to be back with your family."
"I am, I'm very grateful to the Boltons for taking me in." At Andrew's confused expression, she clarified. "My parents died in a car accident around eight years ago. I'm being fostered by my adopted sister's family."
"That's lovely Gabriella." He looked down at his notes before asking the next question. "You were with David and Vivien for 10 days, correct?" The girl nodded. "What happened to you during that time?"
Gabriella looked down as she answered. "I was um he - David, he physically abused me a lot um I was tied up the whole time I was with them and he punished me." She continued when Andrew pushed further, despite the lump in her throat. "He beat me a lot and he let anyone who came to pick up drugs beat me... he cut open my thighs and he threatened me with a gun and they were mentally abusing me."
"That's devastating Gabriella... When you were finally freed, what injuries had you sustained?"
"I had black eyes and bruises all over my face and stomach, I had a concussion umm I had the open scars on my thighs and rope burn on my 's -that's all -"
Seeing the junior's struggle, Andrew moved on. "I'm sure it must have been difficult in those 10 days, what got you through?"
"I just thought about my family and wanting to get home. I just wanted to see them again and be able to hug my sister again or hang out with the boys, I just wanted my family back."
"You've mentioned your sister a few times, how about we talk about her for a minute?" Seeing the smile that dawned Gabriella's face, he continued. "What's your relationship with your sister?"
"She is my world." Gabriella gushed. "The second I met her, I fell in love with that little girl and she's been my best friend my whole life." The next question asked was how Lilliana was kidnapped. "She was taken when she was a toddler as well by another member of the gang, I was told that he had a grudge and she ended up with me."
"This will be the final question: we hear of hundreds of abduction cases every year, are there any recommendations to parents and kids as safety measures or things to look out for?"
"Umm that's hard, I think to just keep a close eye on your children or your friends and to just be careful umm that's a difficult thing to give an answer to, I think the issue is with the person kidnapping rather than preparing the victims of a bad situation um I don't really know what to say."
"That's fine Gabriella, I want to thank you for your time today, thank you for sharing your story."
"Thank you Mr Harvey."
With that, the interview ended and the news crew left. Lilliana ran to Gabriella, jumping into the girl's arms and holding her tight around her neck. "I'm proud of you Bria."
"Thanks Liv." Gabriella took the moment to hold the little girl tightly in her arms before kissing her temple and placing her back on the ground so she could look at her. "How much did you hear?"
"All of it."
Gabriella sighed. "I'm sorry Baby."
"It's not your fault Bria."
Troy took the moment to pull Gabriella into his arms and kiss her forehead. "You did good Baby, you did real good." She smiled weakly in response as he pulled away before Jacob got her attention.
"Can I have a hug Gabi?"
"Of course you can." She said, pulling the boy into her arms.
Jacob leant up to her ear and whispered. "I love you Gabi."
Gabriella swallowed the lump in her throat at the words and kissed the boy on the top of the head. "I love you too Jakie." When she pulled away, she looked at the three Bolton siblings. "I love you all."
Troy spoke on behalf of himself and the twins. "We love you too Brie."
