Gabriella woke up Monday morning and was surprised to find that Lilliana wasn't asleep next to her. She checked each of the boys' rooms before going downstairs, only finding Lucille in the kitchen. "Good morning."
"Good morning Gabriella."
"Umm where is everyone?"
"The twins were up early so they decided to go with Jack and Troy in early. I hope it's ok that you'll have to take the bus in, Jack just had some things he needed to organise at the school and Troy said he'd play in the gym with the twins."
"No it's no problem, I was just wondering where everyone was, that's all."
Gabriella continued to get ready before leaving for the bus. As she sat on her way to school, she began to think about her relationship with Troy. She was bothered by the fact that her and Troy had gone further in their physical relationship but he still hadn't asked her to homecoming yet. Even their friends who weren't dating already had homecoming dates despite her and Troy being the only couple in their groups before the promposals began. Gabriella sighed before pushing the thoughts from her mind. She began wondering about that morning. She hadn't even felt Lilliana get up from bed which disturbed her since she was such a light sleeper. She also wondered why nobody thought to wake her up if they were all heading to school early anyway. Troy hadn't mentioned heading to school early the previous night.
When the bus pulled to a stop, she sighed and collected her stuff before getting off and walking to the building. As she headed towards her locker, she noticed the hallway was crowded. Pushing slightly through the people to get through, she was shocked to see the twins running towards her with a bouquet of roses each - one red and one pink – as they tackled her into a hug. When she looked up, she found Troy standing on the other side holding a sign: Flowers are the 2nd most beautiful thing, can I go to homecoming with the 1st? Lilliana pulled Jacob to stand beside her as Gabriella stood up slowly. As soon as she finished reading the sign, she ran straight to the boy and enveloped him in a hug. With his girl in his arms, Troy spun her around as she whispered 'yes' into his ear. When he set her back onto her feet, she placed a chaste kiss on his cheek so they wouldn't get in trouble for PDA. He leant down to whisper in her ear. "I have one more thing, face away from me."
Doing what he said, Gabriella turned away from her boyfriend and could feel him move behind her before she left her hair being moved from her neck. She felt the cool metal touch her skin and looked down at the silver heart with her initial engraved. "Troy, this is beautiful."
"Turn it over." She flipped the heart to see his initial was engraved and smiled softly. "I know we can't make our relationship public yet but I wanted you to have something." Gabriella's heart melted at the gesture and she turned in his arms to hug him. Their moment was interrupted as the twins came running to them, Troy lifting the little boy and Gabriella lifting the little girl. "Thanks for your help guys." The twins grinned in response.
"You kept it a really good secret, I had no idea. I couldn't find anyone this morning."
Lilliana smiled sadly. "Sorry Bria but Troy said he wanted to surprise you."
The bell rang interrupting their conversation – giving them some privacy from the crowd of students that now had to go to homeroom – as Jack approached them. Troy smiled at his father. "Thanks for all the help Dad and getting the twins here."
"No problem Troy, I'm glad it turned out how you wanted... Alright guys, you better head off to homeroom while I take the twins back to school."
The six-year-olds looked at him pleadingly as Jacob begged. "Can we please stay with Troy and Gabi today, please?"
Jack sighed, holding the bridge of his nose. "I'll make you a deal, you can go to homeroom with Troy and Gabriella while I talk to Mr Matsui. If he says yes then you can stay just for today, if not, I'll come get you after homeroom."
The twins nodded but Troy wanted to clarify. "So if you're not outside of Darbus's room after homeroom, we just take them to our next class?" Jack nodded. "Alright cool." As Jack left, the juniors grabbed their books from their lockers before walking to their classroom. "Sorry we're late Ms Darbus."
Ms Darbus looked at the twins confused at their presence but nodded slowly, not wanting to cause a scene in front of the young children. "Please try to be more punctual next time, take your seats." They felt all eyes on them as they took their seats and pulled a twin onto their lap for the progression of the class. When the time was over, they walked outside and didn't find Jack so they took the twins to their classes for the day.
Gabriella and Troy lined up with the twins in the cafeteria line to get their food before heading over to the table to their friends. Sitting down, Jacob sat between Troy and Gabriella while Lilliana was on the girl's lap. Troy addressed the group. "Guys, this is my brother and sister, Jacob and Lilliana. Jakie and Lilly, this is Chad, Taylor, Zeke, Sharpay, Martha, Kelsi and Jason."
Jacob responded on behalf of the twins, seeing his sister was too shy. "It's nice to meet you."
Chad smiled at the six-year-old. "It's nice to meet you too little dude. What are you guys doing here today?"
"Troy wanted us to help him ask Gabi to homecoming and we asked Dad if we could stay with them today."
"You know what homecoming is?" Taylor asked the little boy curiously.
"Not really but Troy said boyfriends ask their girlfriends to go with them and you get dressed up after the championship game."
Gabriella's eyes widened at the statement, quickly responding. "They don't have to be boyfriend and girlfriend Jakie, friends can ask each other to homecoming too."
Troy reached over to gently squeeze her thigh. "It's alright Brie, he knows. I told him while we were in the gym this morning."
The girl turned her attention to Jacob. "And you're ok with this?"
The young boy nodded. "You're nice and we love you, I'm happy you and Troy are together and I know I can't tell Mom."
Gabriella smiled. "As long as you're ok with it."
The juniors spent the rest of their lunchtime with the twins and their friends as the wildcats got to know the six-year-olds better and the juniors enjoyed watching them bond with the young boy and girl.
