Hii...
Been a while again, I know. I did write my first Seddie oneshot, you can find it on my profile if you'd like to read it to.
I'm not gonna promise updating soon anymore cause I just don't know if I can actually do it.
I hope you like this chapter, I added some Seddie moments.
Episode 3: iPrepare
Sam's POV
"Actually, I've got an idea that's great for iCarly and it may also help you with your feelings for Freddie." Carly says after an ad for America Sings has ended.
I sigh and look at her with a look that says 'give it to me'.
"We do a competition like America Sings for like four weeks!" she squeals, the excitement is visibly dripping off of her.
I do the only thing that comes to mind and clap my hand hard against my forehead in a facepalm.
"What?!" Carly yells offended.
"Okay, I won't crush your little dreams totally yet." I say. "Just explain to me how this is supposed to help me with my feelings for Freddie?" I'm barely able to contain barfing when I say 'feelings for Freddie' and keep a bored expression on my face.
"Well," she starts with glistening eyes and a devious smile, "first of all he'll hear you singing. And he won't expect you to be this good and he'll be impressed and maybe start to think of you differently."
"Bu-" I start but get cut off by Carly again. "And secondly! You can use the songs to express your feelings. You're not gonna sing 'Freddie I love you' of course but it's an outlet for your feelings and I think it'll help."
She's out of her mind.
Carly's POV
Sam stares at me dumbfounded after I finished my little speech on why we should do the iCarly singing competition. After a while she speaks.
"Carls…. I. Don't. Sing."
"Pfft, tell that to my shower" I scoff at her. "I know you never sing and I feel like you always try to sing worse than I now know you can whenever you do around me but that was beautiful Sam, really!"
She just stubbornly rolls her eyes at me.
I have an idea. I take my phone and put it on recording audio with my new app. I've gotten into using apps to sing to songs recently and I've gotten really good at using them.
"Would you sing just a small part for me?" I plead to her using my puppy eyes. "I promise I'll show you how good you are!"
She just looks down and plays with a thread on my pillow. Fine, I'll start. And I start singing the same song she sung before.
"Untouchable like a distant diamond sky
I'm reaching out and I just can't tell you why
I'm caught up in you
I'm caught up in you"
She looks up when she realizes I'm singing the same song. Her eyes look guilty and I know she's gonna break soon and sing with me.
"Untouchable, burning brighter than the sun
And when you're close, I feel like coming undone"
After singing two lines together I stop singing and she keeps singing the part until the verse ended, just like in the shower.
"In the middle of the night, when I'm in this dream
It's like a million little stars spelling out your name
You gotta come on, come on
Say that we'll be together
Come on, come on
Little taste of heaven"
She stops singing and looks defeated. I tap on my phone to import the audio to the track and say.
"Just listen Sam."
The song starts playing, a guitar can be heard and slowly other instruments join. Then my voice can be heard singing the first few lines and Sam's voice joining and finishing the song. Sam sits quietly and listens hard. When it ends I look at her for her reaction. It sounded beautifully and also our little duet sounded great.
"What did you do?" she says finally.
"What do you mean?"
"Come on, Shay. You mixed it or auto-tuned it. What kind of app is this?"
"I didn't Sam." I say. "It's just an app that records and puts your voice on the song with all instruments."
I know she still doesn't believe me so I start another recording and sing the first three lines with a really high pitched voice and play it back to her to convince her.
"So…. You're saying I can really sing pretty good?" I can't believe it really worked, she's starting to believe me!
I sigh of relief. "YES! That's what I've been trying to tell you this whole time!"
She sits back, still in disbelief and admits "Well, the part we sung together sounded pretty good."
"Yes, and also the part you sung on your own."
"Okay, apparently I can sing better that anyone thought. But Carls, this is all so new to me. This whole stuff with Freddie and the singing now too. I was just singing that cause I had it stuck in my head when I woke up because of my dream."
"You know what. If loads of people, including Freddie, told you you sound amazing I bet you'd be more confident about singing. So why don't we do a duet for the first round?"
"Fine" she says reluctantly. "But I don't want Freddie to film us, we can do it ourselves too!"
"Sure we can, we'll record everyone's song and just do the beginning of iCarly live. And after the show everyone can vote. And of course we have to talk to Freddie to see if he can make all of this for the next show in two days." I'm in total planning mode.
"Wait – you said you had that song stuck in your head cause of a dream right." I suddenly realise what she said, and also give her no chance to back out again. "What did you dream of?"
"What do you think?" she grumbles softly.
"You dreamed of Freddie? Awhhh I already thought so!" I squeal. Now Sam's cute reaction to Freddie is even better. I should tell her about it.
"What? How?" she looks confused.
"Did you hear Freddie in your dream?"
"Well, yeah. It was very short. I saw a starry night and heard him say my name very clearly and then some stars spelled out his name and the song got stuck in my head cause of that. You know 'a million little stars spelling out your name'" she explains and I'm bursting with excitement.
"Well Mrs. Benson came to get Freddie to some doctor or something and she started yelling his name to get him downstairs and I guess that came through in your dream cause you said his name in your sleep." I explain grinning.
Sam's POV
"I did what?!" I exclaim. How embarrassing is this.
"Relaaaax." Carly tries to calm me. "I already told him it's not weird that you dream of us and his name was called just seconds before."
"He's not gonna forget this Carls! And embarrass me about it!" I fall back into Carly's pillows.
It's all getting too much. This singing stuff, liking the nub and now I even said his name in my sleep.
"Come on Sam." Carly pats my leg reassuringly. "You're friends. And also you did the cutest thing ever." She's about to explode, I can tell. I give her a look to show her she can.
"Freddie was leaving and he said goodbye to me and I got an idea so I went to your head and whispered to you to say goodbye too but you didn't and Freddie wanted to go but then you said the cutest little sleepy 'Goodbye Fweddie' to him and he said goodbye to you too and it was just so cute and now I know you like him it's even cuter and jus-" she rambles and rambles until I shut her up by tossing a pillow against her head.
I laugh hard at her confused face.
"I'm sorry, I know you live for this cute stuff Carls. Meanwhile I can only hope Freddie keeps it to himself." I sigh.
Carly just giggles at my comment and switches the tv channel to show an MMA fight with Shelby is on.
"Great!" I shout when I see the change on tv. "I've had enough girl talk for a while now."
Carly explains that it's best if we shoot our song tonight so we quickly decide on one and Carly starts preparing while I get to watch the fight. After she finished getting herself and the studio ready I let her work on my now dried hair and I do my own make-up. We practise the song one time and work out who sings what. As Carly is much more confidently singing she'll start out and later I'll join and sing a small part alone. We use some of Freddie's equipment to film us singing the song and I triple check that Carly didn't leave any of the footage on his laptop. Carly will edit the video slightly so it's ready for iCarly on Friday. Carly and I also decide to try to get some more people to join the competition so we send out some texts and soon get some excited replies.
It's starting to get dark and we're sitting in the living room, Carly working hard on preparing for next iCarly and me chilling and watching tv. And I'm helping by keeping track of the texts that keep coming in. A rapid knock can be heard on the door and before we even lift our heads it swings open revealing my crush.
"Hey Carls" he says as he walks in and comes close to me. He leans over the backrest of the couch where I'm lying, his face too close to me. I narrow my eyes at him to make sure he doesn't see I'm scared to be this close to him… and his lips.
"Hewwo Sammy" he says in a baby voice. I knew it. I lash out but he dodges and I barely manage to give him a small slap on his face but he laughs it off. Then I shoot Carly a look.
"Guess you know him better…" she mumbles while she has a small smile on her face. Then she turns more towards the couch where Freddie has now also taken a seat next to me and closes her Pearbook.
"Soooo… Freddie" she starts the conversation I wish we would never have with the nub. Carly continues to explain her idea for a singing competition. How we've been working on getting some people to join already and if Freddie would be able to make this happen before the next iCarly in two days. Carly rambles on for a while and since she's already explained it all to me I zone out of the conversation and take a look at Freddie's reactions. His eyes are focussed on Carly and during the talk a small smile breaks through his lips. In a second I flash back to that night on the fire escape, I can't believe I fell for this boy I shared my first kiss with. I blush slightly when I realize what I thought about and focus back to the conversation. I look at my phone and check the new messages as Carly finishes her rambling. Freddie shifts and looks at me with his mouth slightly opened. "And you got Sam to agree to do this already?" he asks unbelievingly. Of course. I'm Sam. Why should I want to sing. Why should I be able to sing the least bit well? Why should Freddie even think of me as anything other than a bully?
"Yes!" Carly replies fast while I keep my eyes focussed on my phone. "So really it's only you we have to get in. Will you do it? And are you able to make it work for next Friday?"
Her eyes are full of hope and Freddie smiles an adorable half smile at her. "Of course I can Carly. Will you give me some singing tips though?" he winks. I would've melted if that smile and wink were directed at me but right now I'm just boiling with jealousy. I try not to let him notice this when he turns to me again. "And I can't wait to hear you singing, Sammy." Great, I can let out my jealous feelings as anger. I scowl at him and plan my attack. Then I leap over to him and tackle him off of the couch. We land on the floor with me on top of him pinning him down at his shoulders. He groans when he hits the ground but after a few seconds of me pinning him down he starts to grin. In the background I hear Carly yelling at me to let go but I hear her laughing through it. Why is he grinning? I feel him wiggling his arms upwards and then I feel him grabbing my waist and tickling me. I can't help it but yelp and start laughing. I try to let go and jump up to escape his tickles but he holds my waist when I try. Cause of my attempt to escape, my sweater jumped up a bit and Freddie got a hold of my bare waist. I feel his fingers tickle my sides and keep laughing like a little kid. But inside I'm going crazy cause of this much close contact with Freddie. Just like my jaw my sides are on fire right now. Everywhere his fingers move feels like a little burn mark is left on my skin and while tickling, his fingers move very fast so I feel like I'm covered in burn marks. After a while he lets me go and I roll off of him. Of course Freddie had also been laughing at me all this time. Guess he won this round. I need to make sure I'm not going soft for him. As Freddie walks to the fridge I look at Carly with big eyes and quickly lift my shirt and take a look at both my sides to see if he actually left any marks. Carly walks up to me and whispers
"You felt the burning again didn't you?"
I just reply with a nod when I see Freddie returning.
"Here you go" he says as he hands me a bottle of peppy cola.
"…thanks" I say softly and smile while I take a sip. I love this about Freddie. We fight all the time but he knows when to stop and doesn't rub his victory in my face. And he gets me a drink.
Freddie's POV
"Well, you guys wanna watch a movie or something?" I ask while I sit down on the couch again.
"I'm kind of busy with putting together the next show." Carly explains. "But if you can choose a movie to watch together without killing each other, you can watch one."
I look over at Sam an raise my eyebrows. Can she withhold from killing me?
"Come on, Carls!" Sam whines. "You're always busy lately."
"We'll have a movie night next Sunday, the webshow will be done by then and I can relax. And I already have a movie picked I wanna watch with you. So be happy today the choice is yours." Carly shuts Sam up.
"Fine.." Sam grumbles and plops down on the couch next to me. I'm always amazed by the fact she has Carly as her best friend and Carly can make her do almost anything.
Sam grabs the remote and starts zapping through the different movies on Zapflix, while Carly silently retreats to her room.
"You know…" I say when Sam has zapped through almost all of the movies already. "We could also start on our next webshow early and record your little song-singing." I tease her.
To my surprise she smirks. "Too bad, Fredbag. Me and Carly already recorded ours before we told you. It was one of my conditions."
"What? Why?!" I'm appalled. She throws me a look.
"You really can't think of a reason why? Come on, Freddie. I thought you were supposed to be the smart one."
I just silently shrug. Why would she not want me to shoot her singing? I'm the best there is. She leans a bit closer to me and quotes me.
"'Hewwo Sammy.'" She says in a high-pitched baby voice. "Come on, you'd kill for any chance to have anything to tease me with. Now the only thing you've got is that I have to sing too. But! So do you, so we're kind of even on that one."
"Ow.." I softly say. I guess she's right. I would tease her. Though I didn't mind our little 'fight' earlier on. It was pretty fun to win for once. But I should let her win more often, that keeps her calmer.
"I'm sorry." I say finally.
Sam looks at me quizzically.
"What… for?" she asks slowly, scrunching her eyebrows together.
"For teasing you with the whole baby talk and calling you Sammy. I know you don't like it and you should know I would never tell anyone else or tease you about it if more people could hear." I say sincere.
"Uhm… okay thanks." She replies quietly.
I take a deep breath. I can't believe I'm willing to risk my life for this.
"Though, don't kill me for saying this…." I start while holding my hands up in surrender before I continue. She looks intrigued and leans closer to hear more.
"You did sound pretty cute when you said bye in your sleep." I blurt all out and prepare for a blow, closing my eyes tightly and shielding my body with my hands. Nothing. I peek out of my eyes and lower my hands so I can see her. She's still in the same position as she was before, leaned slightly closer but her mouth is open in shock.
*slap* I hear it before I feel the slight sting and warmth in my cheek. She didn't slap me hard. She didn't really mean to hurt me this time. I see her roll her eyes and laugh it off.
"Just be happy I let you get away with just this, Benson." And I am. She didn't mind me calling her cute all that much.
We decide on a movie pretty quickly. We both like horror but Carly can't stand it so we're going with one of those. I just hope my dear little mom won't come in to get me to go home and see me watching such a grown-up movie with the she-devil. I know Sam is far from perfect but in my mother's eyes both Carly, since the accident, and Sam are the worst girls for me to be friends with.
I quickly send my mother a text saying I'm going to watch a movie at the Shays and will be home within two and a half hours while Sam puts on the movie. As the movie is starting I quickly run to the kitchen and pop a bag of popcorn into the microwave, then run back to not miss too much of the beginning of the movie. I lean over the back of the couch while I wait for the popcorn. As the microwave beeps I run back to fetch it. I find a bowl and shake the popcorn out of the bag and throw some spicy flavouring on the popcorn, the way I like it. I also grab two extra bottles of peppy cola and return to the couch. I'm surprised to see Sam put the movie on pause so I wouldn't miss it and is waiting patiently on the couch. I raise my eyebrow and smile at her in thanks while I sit down and put the popcorn between us as she starts the movie.
Pretty soon the movie is pretty gory and scary but Sam and I love the adrenaline rush the scares give us. Some scary movies are so predictable Sam and I just laugh the whole 'horror' movie but this one is actually good and scary and I have to admit some popcorn went flying.
Now we're about halfway through the movie, the empty popcorn bowl has been put on the table and subconsciously Sam and I have shifted closer to the centre of the couch, and thus closer to each other. I can feel the warmth radiating off of her sitting so close to me. I don't mind it though. I take a peek and look down and to the left of me where she is sitting. She's engrossed in the movie and leaning forward to the screen, her legs are pulled up to her chest with her arms wrapped around her legs. Her eyes are wide and her teeth biting her lip slightly. I look back at the movie just in time for the next scare. The screen is dark but out of nowhere a big, white, ghostly face fills the entire screen. It scares me but Sam actually screams and jumps up in the air. She doesn't go far but lands partly on my lap and I quickly grab her so she doesn't fall back. She's sitting sideways on my lap with my hand holding her back, almost bridal style. I look at her face, which I now realize is very close to mine. Her wide eyes sparkle and I notice her bottom lip is now plump cause of her biting it so much. My eyes flickered from her eyes to her lips and back in just a second. I hope she didn't notice it or she may think I'm thinking of kissing her. Although those lips did look inviting. But no, I shouldn't be thinking that. It's just teenage hormones. This all only takes a second or 2 before we both come to our senses and start laughing uncontrollably. Her body is shaking because of the laughter and she puts her head on my shoulder laughing loudly.
"Remember Benson." She says through the laughs. "This doesn't leave this room."
"Trust me, I won't tell a soul." I say while I'm recovering from our laughing fit. We calm down and I turn back to the movie.
"Uhm, Freddie?" she asks softly. I look at her to continue.
"Think you could let me go now? I think I can manage the rest of the movie."
I never realized I held her so tightly and quickly loosen my hand so she can crawl off of me to the spot next to me. I miss the warmth on my body but luckily she keeps sitting close to me so I still feel a bit of warmth radiating from the left of me. We watch the rest of the movie till it ends and after it I announce I have to go before my mom gets worried.
I'm now laying on my bed, thinking about everything that happened today. I can't believe I have to sing on iCarly. I've gotten more comfortable with appearing on screen like in the sketches we do, but still. I'm not the greatest singer. Carly promised me to help me tomorrow though, I hope it works out. And anyway I may not even make it to the next round so there's not too much to worry about. Then my half-conscious mind wanders to Sam. How I tickled her this afternoon after she tackled me. And again when the movie scared her and she basically jumped into my lap. I was amazed at her little waist and how my hands fit so easily around her, especially when she eats that much. Most of all I remember us laughing our heads off. When I was tickling her, her laugh was so contagious and her moves to get away were so funny. And when she jumped into my lap of fright and we both realized that, laughing with Sam felt so amazing. I really feel like we're getting closer as friends. Even doing things together when Carly is too busy with the show. Remembering Sam's laughing face, I smile and drift off to a deep sleep.
