Chapter 6 Gender Reveal Party
When Kala was around 18 weeks pregnant Michelangelo went with Kala to her ultrasound appointment to see how the baby was doing. While the soon to be parents were on their way to see Doctor Rosa Michelangelo and Kala were discussing their soon to be baby including the gender. "Michelangelo I've been thinking lately about what you said about having a gender revealing party. I think it would be great that way we'll know what we're having and finally decide what color to paint the baby's room" Kala said to Michelangelo and he replied, "Awwwww babe that's great you want to do this." Kala and Michelangelo arrived at Kala's ultrasound appointment on time and Doctor Rosa checked to see how the baby was doing. "Well your baby is doing well and I can tell you what you're having if you want to know" said Doctor Rosa as she offered to reveal the gender. "Actually my husband and I were discussing having a gender reveal party so if you can please send the results of the gender of our child to this party store that makes those balloons that pop out pink or blue confetti and cakes in pink or blue on the inside that would be wonderful" Kala requested.
Doctor Rosa had no problem with the couple's request as she looked at the monitor and put away the paper in Kala's file saying what the sex of the baby is. As soon as Michelangelo and Kala arrived home they began planning the party. All of their friends and family were invited including Kala parents who were very excited to come to Earth for the party. Kala and Michelangelo even invited Doctor Rosa to the party which she gladly accepted the invitation to. The party was held at Michelangelo and Kala' place and everyone who was invited showed up. Even though the parents didn't know the gender of their child it didn't stop Kala's Mom Sky from knitting baby booties. As the party was going on the box of balloons that Kala and Michelangelo requested was brought to their home.
Michelangelo placed the box of balloons in the living room and had Kala stand next to him as he began speaking, "Dudes and Dudettes thank you for coming to our gender reveal party. It means so much to us that you're all here when we reveal what is the gender of the child my beautiful wife is carrying. Without further ado let's open up the box and see what color balloons come out of it." Kala and Michelangelo were so nervous and excited at the same time because they couldn't wait to find out if they are expecting a boy or a girl. As soon as the couple opened up the box balloons did fly out of it but they were neither pink or blue. The balloons were shaped like hearts that said, "will you marry me?"
Everyone gasped at what happened. "Um Michelangelo are you asking Kala to marry you again?" Splinter asked. "No but I do love my wife and if I was going to ask Kala to marry me all over again I would probably do it this way" answered Michelangelo. Kala was touched by what Michelangelo said that she wasn't too mad that the store where she and Michelangelo requested the balloons from got their order wrong. However that didn't stop Kala from calling the place and making a complaint to the manager resulting in a full refund. "Michelangelo and Kala I'm so sorry about this. If you both want I can check your file and let you know what is the sex of the baby" offered Doctor Rosa.
Kala and Michelangelo thought for a moment about Doctor Rosa's offer but agreed to wait until the baby was born. "I think it would be fine if we wait until the baby is born to know if we have a son or daughter" Michelangelo pointed out. As for the balloons Raphael and Mona's baby boy Mason grabbed one of the balloons and started to play with it. "Awwww Mason likes balloons" said Mona. "That's good because his first birthday is coming up very soon and since our boy was born on Christmas we'll probably have plenty of balloons in both birthday and Christmas colors for his first birthday party which everyone is invited to" Raphael pointed out which everybody accepted. Even though the gender reveal party didn't go as planned everyone still had a good time and the soon to be parents got plenty of presents for their baby.
Author's Note: I bet you all thought you would learn what is the gender of Michelangelo and Kala's unborn child right? Well I decided not to say what the gender is for two reasons. One I'm unable to decide if the baby should be a boy or a girl at the moment or am I? ;-) Two I like leaving my readers in a bit of suspect when characters in my story are about to be parents.
