Chapter 8 Late due date
When Kala was just about 36 weeks pregnant she and Michelangelo had the nursery for their child all set up. Michelangelo being the caring and loving husband didn't want Kala to be on her feet so much since the due date was getting closer. "Michelangelo I can handle getting a glass of water by myself" Kala pointed out as she and Michelangelo were in the kitchen. "My beautiful wife and mother of my child you heard what the doctor said. You have to take it easy" replied Michelangelo. "Doctor Rosa doesn't want me to go out and kick bad guy butts with you and the other turtles because that could seriously harm our unborn child which is understandable and the reason why I haven't gone on patrol with you guys since I found out I'm pregnant. She never mentioned not being able to get myself a glass of water" Kala said with a slightly grumpy look on her face. "But thank you for caring so much about my well being. Our baby is lucky to have you as a Dad."
Michelangelo smiled as he handed Kala her water. While Kala was drinking her water the baby started to kick causing Kala some discomfortment. "Honey, are you ok? Is the baby coming?!" Michelangelo questioned as he panicked a bit. "I don't know but damn can this child kick. I believe he or she could be a ninja just like you" Kala stated. The baby started kicking more and without a moment to spare Michelangelo and Kala raced out the door. "Michelangelo you forgot your hat and trench coat!" exclaimed Kala as the soon to be parents were already out the door. Michelangelo ran back and got his trench coat and hat and rushed Kala to the hospital as fast as possible. Kala called their friends and family to meet them at the hospital and as soon as they arrived Doctor Rosa was waiting for them. When Doctor Rosa finished examining Kala she said, "It's false labor. The baby isn't ready to be born yet. Don't worry this happens all the time. Babies sometimes don't come by their due date and pregnant women sometimes experience pain but it's not labor pain. I'm sure your baby will come any day now."
Everyone was a bit disappointed that it was false labor because they were all hoping the baby was coming. Kala and Michelangelo went home and Kala wasn't happy because she thought it was time. A couple of days passed since Kala thought it was time for the baby to be born and she was still pregnant. Kala started getting annoyed that the baby didn't want to come out. One day Michelangelo saw Kala yelling at her pregnant stomach, "GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!" Michelangelo went up to Kala to try to calm her down as he said, "Sweetie I know you're uncomfortable but it's normal for babies to be born at a later time." Kala gave her husband a stare of death as she said, "Do you know how uncomfortable I am?! And you're the one that did this to me! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" Michelangelo didn't know where to put himself. He knew Kala was uncomfortable and had mood swings so he did his best to calm his wife down while not getting upset with Kala.
All of a sudden Kala started to get a bit weepy. "I'm sorry for yelling at you and at our baby. I just want our child to be freaking born already because I have never been this uncomfortable in my life!" Kala cried. Michelangelo wiped away her tears and calmed her down. "I'm not upset with you. I know you want the baby to come as much as I do. Possibly even more since you were screaming at your stomach. If you want we can try looking up ways to get you into labor" Michelangelo suggested as he and Kala started looking up ways to start labor. For more than a week they tried many things such as eating spicy food which didn't work and Michelangelo felt like his mouth was on fire resulting in drinking almost a whole gallon of milk. They also tried long walks drinking tea but nothing helped. Kala even tried doing yoga with Master Splinter and Mona but that didn't help at all.
One day while Michelangelo and Kala were at home Raphael and Mona came to visit them with their baby boy Mason. Mason was happy to see his uncle and auntie and he noticed Kala's stomach pointed and asked, "Baby in tummy?" Kala replied, "Yes sweetie my baby is still in my tummy and it doesn't want to come out yet." Mason pointed to Kala's pregnant belly and said, "Baby come out now and play!" Kala couldn't help but laugh but at the same time was impressed that Raph and Mona's son was talking so much. All of a sudden Kala started to feel cramps and said, "my water just broke. The baby is COMING!" Everyone couldn't believe it and without skipping a beat everyone headed to the hospital. Kala and Michelangelo called all of their friends and family to let them know the baby was on the way.
