Hi! So, special message for all u dudes!
For some weird fricking reason, I could not get this chapter to post. The Ao3 and Wattpad guys had this chapter weeks ago, but I just haven't been able to upload it to here.
So I'm super sorry about that! Y'all get chapters closer to each other tho!
I hope u enjoy!
"Clean up?"
Lyra has regained herself enough to speak.
"Wh-What does that mean? Clean-up?"
Imakita rolls her eyes, "What do you think, Lyra?"
"Wh-You mean…You mean, clean-up…him?"
Imakita nods.
"But you can't!" Lyra cries, "You have to help him! He's hurt. We can't clean-up! Mr Pasha, you're a doctor, can't you help him? You have to—"
"Pavel's a nurse."
"So? You can still help him, can't you? We can just call an ambulance. We need to call an ambulance—"
"He's dead," Dory says, "Lyra, he's dead."
"Then we need to call the police! Have you already called them? You can't clean up if the police aren't here. You need to call the police."
"That's not going to happen, Lyra."
"No, you have to call them. They'll sort all this out! You need to call—"
"No, Lyra, we're not calling anyone."
"You have to."
"No. We're not."
"Why? We can't just—"
"If the police come, they'll arrest all of us," Imakita says.
"What? They won't. They'll find the person who did this, and only Dory and Bunny were here so the rest of us are fine—"
"Ok, wow, fuck you," Dory says.
"But you were the only ones here—"
"Anyway, the rest of us aren't fine. You think Pasha'll be fine if Bunny got arrested again?"
"A-Again?"
"Dory's right. It wouldn't be fine for the rest of us at all," Imakita says, "They'll arrest all of us. Won't they, Pavel?"
"Yeah," Pasha pauses, before nodding, "They will."
"But why would they—"
"Do you want to go to prison, Lyra?" Imakita asks, "Do you?"
"How could they arrest all of us? They can't do that. That's not their job. They can't—"
"Oh, they most certainly can. Believe me, they'd do it in a heartbeat."
"No. That can't be right—"
"Lyra. Do you want to go to prison?"
"No, but I don't think they can—"
"What about if they sent you back to your home country? Would you like that too?"
"No! But I just don't—"
"Then I suggest you stop protesting and help us clean this up."
"But—The police can help us," Lyra splutters, "We wouldn't be—"
"She's right, Lyra," Pasha says, "I'm sorry, but unfortunately, some of us have…history and that won't work in our favour here."
"History? Like what?"
"Nothing that—"
"We can talk about it later," Imakita says, "Right now I think we have bigger problems."
"But I—" Lyra gasps, "You—"
"For fuck's sake, Lyra!"
"Don't shout at her," Pasha say, "You can't expect her to just go along with—"
"We don't have the time, Pavel."
"Shouting won't help, will it?"
"We need to hurry up."
"Well making everyone upset isn't going to help!"
"I'm not. I'm just saying—"
"Stop it!" Dory says. He has begun to breathe heavily, clutching his head and heart, blinking at an extraordinary pace, "Stop fighting! I can't take it! Shut up! Stop fighting!"
"Oh, God, Dory," Pasha approaches him, "Oh, sit down, sweetheart. You're getting stressed."
"Because you're shouting!"
"Ok, okay, well I'm not shouting now, am I? Come on, come and sit down. I think you're having a panic attack."
"For god's sake," Imakita sighs.
"It's fine, I'll sort it," Pasha says, "Dory, just sit down and try to breathe slowly, ok?"
"I can't—"
"Ok, ok," Pasha says, "Try and close your eyes for me, ok? I'll get you some water."
"Pavel. We. Don't. Have. Time—"
"We do," Pasha says, going to get a glass of water, "Now, whilst I—Whilst I sort Dory out, why don't we try and form a plan? How exactly are we going to do this?"
"Getting rid of the body seems like a good start, don't you think?"
"Yes. Yes. That would probably be good," Pasha nods, "Oh, God, though, how do we do that?"
"Well, he seems to make good pet food."
"Imakita."
"What? They do seem to be enjoying it. Though I think the kittens have started to get sleepy, poor dears."
"They're eating him," Dory chokes out, "They're eating him. They're evil! That's horrible! Horrible!"
"Dory, drink your water, try to calm down," Pasha says. He looks back to Imakita, "Can't we just take him out and leave him for the ghouls?"
"What?" Lyra shrieks, "Those things? You'd let those things—"
"That's the easiest option," Imakita says, "Yes. That'll have to do. Now…" She pauses.
"You can't do that," Lyra is saying, "You can't do this, you can't do this—"
"We'll need bin bags," Imakita continues, "Pavel, where are they?"
"In the drawer. Will he fit in the bags though?"
"Well, there's quite a lot of him missing. If it comes to it, we might have to break a few bones."
"No!" Lyra says, "That's awful! You can't! No! No! No!"
"Lyra, sweetheart, come over here," Pasha says, "Come sit with Dory. I'll deal with that."
Lyra doesn't move, still mumbling to herself. Pasha goes uo to her, leading her to Dory.
"Just sit here, both of you," Pasha says, "I won't be long."
Pasha returns to Imakita, helping her pry the animals from Besho.
The cats are easily removed. Plum running off with a shred of flesh in her mouth, the kittens falling asleep almost immediately - their tummies full of Besho.
The dogs are more determined. Opal insisting on taking something with her, and Peach refusing to give up her position with Besho's leg. Pulling Peach off of the leg is one of the fouler things Pasha has done (though that list is increasing at a rapid rate).
Peach only lets up when Besho's leg has been pulled from its socket, and practically dangles from his hip. She sniffs around him again, but soon follows Opal - hoping to snatch whatever she's got.
"Perhaps pet food would've been the easier option," Imakita says.
"Don't joke about that," Pasha says.
"Sorry. They did take quite a lot though, didn't they?"
"I'll have to clean them all up," Pasha says, "Oh, God…"
"Cross that bridge later. Now, I imagine he should fit rather easily in these bags, don't you?"
Imakita's right. Besho's remains fall easily into the bin bags, sealed with a neat tie.
"We can't dump him out there now," Pasha says, "It's after curfew."
"So we'll do it in the morning," Imakita says, "Until then, where to put him? Could we leave it outside?"
"Someone might see it and get suspicious, and I think we've established how appealing animals find him."
"That's true. We need to make sure there's no smell too. Hm."
"Can't you put him in the freezer?" Dory asks, having calmed down now that the animals have been removed.
Pasha hesitates, "I could clear it out, but it's not that big in there."
"And what if it leaks?" Imakita says, "Bunny would go rabid if bits of Besho got in their food."
"Well, I'll clear it out first."
"No, you guys," Dory says, "Not the food freezer. The taxidermy freezer. You still have that, right?"
Pasha stares at him, a nervousness growing in his stomach, "The-The taxidermy—"
"Oh, of course!" Imakita says, "Why, I'd forgotten all about that!"
"It's in Mr Deverill's office, right?" Dory asks, "At least, that's where it was."
Pasha hasn't been in the office for so long, but the freezer is still there. Everything is still there. Pasha hasn't touched any of it.
"Oh, goodness, Pavel," Imakita says, "Tell me you still have it."
Pasha nods.
"Excellent! It's empty, right? Only, I remember Delius saying they had some final project to work on. I wonder, did they finish it?"
He'd tried to finish it, despite Pasha's protests.
'I'll do it. You watch me do this, Pasha.'
'Delius, you need rest. Please, just lie down."
'I can rest when it's done. Let me do this, please, for you and Bibi—"
'I don't want a stuffed animal, Delius! I want my husband to be alive.'
"He didn't finish it," Pasha says, "I don't think it's empty."
"There should be room in there anyway though," Dory continues.
"Ok. Well, Pavel, could you take this in there then? I can start on getting rid of this blood and everything else."
"M-Me?"
"Yes. You."
"Yeah, uh…"
"What?"
"…Uh—"
"I could do it," Dory says, standing up. He's still shaking, still exasperated from his panic attack, "I know where everything is."
"Are you sure?" Pasha asks, "You should sit down—"
"No, it's okay," Dory looks into Pasha's eyes, "I've got it."
"Go on then, quickly," Imakita says, handing Dory the Besho-bag, "Pavel, cleaning supplies?"
"Huh? Oh, they're in the locked cabinet under the sink. I'll get it."
"Lyra, you can help with this. Come on."
"Wh—With what? I'm not cleaning up! Not cleaning up! I want to go home! I—"
"Lyra, why don't you go see if you can help Tsukiyama?" Pasha asks, "Dory might be able to help us down here. You go and help Tsukiyama."
"Pavel—" Imakita says.
"It's fine. Lyra, go on, it's fine," Pasha smiles, "You can go home soon, it's fine."
Lyra stares at him, not moving.
"Go on," Pasha says, "Go upstairs and see Bunny. We'll sort this out. I promise. It's okay."
