Here's a new chapter dedicated to LPsDiamond1 on twitter! I hope you enjoy!

When Regina returned from the front door, she spotted Heidi spying on her from the sofa, watching what she was doing. They'd been playing barbies together when Elsa had knocked on the door, Robin had texted her earlier asking her if she wouldn't mind looking after Elsa's one year old because they had a business meeting in Portland. Seeing as she had the day off from work and the only thing on the agenda was watching Heidi she had agreed, though she might have forgotten to let the little girl know about their plans.

"What is that?" she asked curiously, her blue eyes fixed on the child in her mother's arms.

Regina smiled as she came to sit beside her, showing her the little boy and watching her reaction. "He's a baby Heidi."

Regina held the baby close, rocking him gently in her arms as he made little noises, his tiny fingers wrapped around hers. "What's his name?" the girl asked, peering down at his little face as he scrunched it up in his sleep.

"This is Sven and we're going to take care of him today."

"Where did he come from?" Heidi asked, clearly intrigued as to where this mystery baby had appeared from.

Regina had to admit that he was really cute, she'd missed holding a baby in her arms, it reminded her of when Heidi was little and how she used to never want to put her down. "His mommy is Elsa, you know her, she's one of daddy's friends from work. I said that we could watch him for a little while."

"Okay, does he just sleep?"

"I'm sure he'll wake up soon. How about we let him sleep in his chair whilst we carry on our game?" Regina suggested as she moved back to the door and came back a moment later with the sleeping baby now in a car seat. She carefully placed him on the rug beside where they would be playing, making sure that she could keep an eye on him but not wanting her daughter to be bored or upset by his presence, she knew it must be a little strange having a baby in the house when it was always normally just the two of them in the day time.

It was around half an hour later when the baby's loud screams sounded out through the house, scaring the little girl a little as she moved behind her Regina, hiding as she peered at the red-faced child, his eyes creasing up as he wailed. "What's wrong with the baby?" Heidi asked worriedly, her little eyes widening as she looked up at her mother. Regina could tell that she had been surprised and maybe a little scared by his crying, but Regina knew that there was nothing to be concerned about.

"Nothing is wrong with him sweetie; I think he's probably just hungry that's all."

"I don't cry when I'm hungry," she giggled, "that would be silly."

"You used to cry when you were hungry," Regina chuckled. God she really had, Heidi used to wail whenever she was hungry, maybe not as loud as Sven, but she'd never forget those late-night feeds where she had hardly slept, it had been exhausting.

"Did I?"

"Of course. All babies cry when they're hungry, it's how adults know that they need something. They can't talk yet so it's how they communicate with us."

"Oh. What does he eat?"

"Well, his mommy brought him some milk, so we'll just go warm it up a little," Regina quipped. She'd taken the baby out of the chair and he had stopped crying, now just letting out soft little whimpers. "Do you want to come with me or shall I put you some cartoons on?"

"I'll come with you," Heidi nodded.

"Okay," she smiled at her daughter and replaced Sven back into his chair, before carrying it into the kitchen and putting the carrier down on the playmat that they had for Heidi for whenever she was cooking and the little girl wanted to play nearby. It was away from any of the dangerous kitchen items, located just in the entrance to the kitchen so Regina knew that it was a safe spot. "How about you keep him company whilst I heat the milk for him."

"I can," she smiled kneeling down onto the mat beside the carrier the baby was laid in, "hello baby. Don't cry, my mommy is getting some food," the little girl reassured, she was about to reach out and touch him when he released a loud wail. Regina turned to see Heidi fall back onto her bottom, shuffling away a bit as she stared at him. Her daughter squared herself before moving closer again, peering in at him, "it's okay little baby," she whispered, "don't cry."

Regina tested the milk against her skin, checking to see if it was the right temperature, she could see that her daughter was getting a little worked up by all of the crying coming from the baby so she really wanted to get him to stop. As soon as the milk was just right, she washed her hands in the sink before grabbing the bottle and making her way back over to the children. She scooped up the little boy before walking back into the living room and sitting down on the couch.

Regina held onto the bottle and he latched on without a second thought, she smiled softly as she ran her hand through his short platinum hair. It was almost making her broody for another baby, she hadn't ever really considered it before, but holding him was bringing back memories of Heidi at that age. Speaking of the little girl, she reappeared from the kitchen and dropped down on the floor by Regina's feet, her hand grabbing for one of her dolls and placing another, the one Regina had been playing with before, on her lap, smiling up at her, "can we play again now, please?"

"We will in a little while sweetie, I promise."

"Okay," she nodded, offering her a small smile before turning back to her dolls house and playing on her own.

It hadn't gone entirely to plan, Elsa had told her that Sven was a sleepy baby, however that didn't seem to be the case today. After he was fed and burped, Regina assumed that he would drift back off but he hadn't, it seemed he was in a playful mood and unwilling to miss out on any entertainment. She'd had to play with him for a little while, using some of the toys Elsa had put in his bag, his favourite seemed to be a stuffed reindeer plush which he would put in his mouth, chewing on the antler for a while before throwing it at her.

Heidi had entertained the idea of playing with him for a little while before going back to her dolls, then decided that she was going to do some colouring. She sat up to the table doodling whilst Regina watched over Sven, the little boy was sitting on his play mat pushing a ball around. She took her eyes off him for a moment just to check on Heidi, who was drawing very carefully with her tongue sticking out as she concentrated on the picture she was creating.

It seemed that one moment was long enough for the baby to reach out and grasp one of Heidi's dolls before subsequently sucking its hair into his mouth. "No, no, that's not yours mister," Regina tutted, trying to pry the doll from his hands.

"What's he doing… Merida!" Heidi squealed, a look akin to horror written on her face as she saw the once bouncy red curls of her doll now matted and covered in the baby's saliva. Regina cringed as she looked down at the doll, she knew it was one of Heidi's favourites with her often saying she looked like her auntie Zelena. "Oh no."

"It's okay sweetheart, we can wash her hair."

Heidi nodded solemnly as she carefully took the doll from her mother's hands before walking back to the table, holding the toy by its feet at arm's length so that its soggy hair didn't touch her. Regina sighed as she looked down at the little boy who was giggling playfully, his hands reaching out towards the pile of dolls. Shaking her head, she lifted him up, she didn't want any more casualties, she wasn't sure her daughter would forgive her.

"I don't think so."

It took probably another hour for him to fall back to sleep and by that time Regina knew that she had to get started on dinner as Robin would be home soon. Heidi had been quietly colouring since the doll incident, being her usual well-behaved self, but unfortunately, they hadn't had the time to play barbies as she had promised. Regina sighed as she set up the baby monitor and made sure Sven was okay before heading into the kitchen, "well hello there sweetheart."

"Hi," she whispered, not looking up concentrating on whatever she was drawing.

"I'm going to make some supper; would you like to be my assistant?"

"No thank you."

"Oh, okay," Regina smiled softly, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of her daughter's head before opening the fridge and taking out the ingredients. Heidi normally loved helping in the kitchen so she assumed that her colouring must be really important for her to miss out on it. Regina watched her curiously out of the corner of her eye, she kept looking up to watch every now and then before moving her eyes back to her paper.

"It's a shame you don't want to help me in here. I don't think I can make pasta bake without my amazing helper. How will I remember what ingredients I need?"

"Pasta."

"Oh yes, that's one of them."

"Milk and cheese."

"Uh huh, sure you wouldn't like to help?" Regina grinned as she collected the things Heidi had said about, of course, she remembered how to make it, she just enjoyed having her daughter cook with her.

"Maybe I could."

"Really?"

"Yep, make it taste better," she smirked.

"Cheeky madam." She took Heidi's apron from the hook and made her way over ready to put it on her and…

"Wahhhhhh."

The little girls' blue eyes widened as she stared at the monitor on the counter as it screamed and cried. "One minute," Regina sighed, putting the apron down on the table before hurrying back into the sitting room and scooping Sven up, "hey, it's okay. Hush now," she cooed, rocking him gently in her arms. Once she had him back down she headed back into the kitchen only to find that it was missing a certain someone. "Heidi?"

She checked all of the rooms downstairs then hurried up to the first floor, finding that the little girl was sat on her bed with her stuffed elephant in her arms and a picture book on her lap.

"You coming to help?"

"Nuh huh," she shook her head, "stay here."

Regina sighed to herself before leaving the room, she wasn't going to pester her by carrying on asking, if she wanted to stay in her bedroom that was up to her. It was a little strange though, they were usually attached at the hip so it was slightly odd for her to not want to be in the same room as her.

The food was ready just as Robin walked through the door, Elsa following behind him, she thanked Regina and apologised for any problems Sven might have caused before taking her son and heading out. Regina's shoulders sagged in relief, "I almost forgot how hard it is to look after a one-year-old."

"Oh don't," he chuckled, wrapping his arms around her as he nuzzled against her hair, "thank you for doing it though."

"It was okay," she smiled pulling back before pressing a kiss to his lips.

"Someone is missing."

"Yeah, she's been in her bedroom since I started on dinner. I kept visiting her and asking if she wanted to come down, but she didn't."

"Weird."

"I know, she said she was feeling okay but I wonder if she might be coming down with something."

"Does she have a temperature? I hate it when she's sick."

"Not that I could feel no, it's strange really, how about you go get her for lunch, see if you can coax it out of her."

"I'll give it my best shot," he chuckled, kissing her temple before moving towards the stairs.

Robin moved up them slowly, he often would play this game with Heidi, normally when he'd been in the studio and was coming up for storytime, it never failed to make her giggle. He edged his way towards her door, walking on his hands and knees as he pushed inside, seeing that Heidi was snuggled under her covers with a princess book on her lap. "Well hello there."

She looked up immediately at the sound of his voice, turning towards him for a brief moment before looking back down at her book again, letting out a little sigh.

"Am I going to have to come get you?" No answer, this was usually the part where she would be laughing and shaking her head at him, but there was nothing, not even a peep. "Heidi."

"I don't want to play."

He scoffed playfully before keeling over as though he was wounded, "my own daughter doesn't want to play."

"No."

He pouted at her and moved a little closer to the edge of the bed, then with lightning speed reached out and grabbed her, pulling her into his arms, "got you now."

"Daddy!" she squealed, letting out a singular burst of laughter before going serious again and dropping her little body against him, her arms wrapping around his neck.

"What's wrong, hey? Mommy said you didn't want to help her in the kitchen."

"I did."

"Why didn't you then?"

Heidi huffed and folded her arms as she looked into his eyes, "I think mommy loves that baby now. Will it have to stay here forever?"

"The baby? Sven?"

"Uh-huh. He ruined my doll."

"Well I'm sure he didn't mean to, he's still only young."

"I know. He won't be staying here will he daddy?"

"No sweetheart, he won't be staying here. In fact, he's already gone."

"He has?" she asked, her face brightening a little at the news, "does that mean that mommy loves me more?"

"Your mommy loves you more than she loves anyone."

"Even you?"

"Ah well, I think we might be tied at the top of the list," he grinned, rubbing his nose gently against hers before tucking a strand of her ebony hair behind her ears. "Do you think maybe we could go downstairs and have some of the dinner mommy made?"

"Okay," she murmured quietly, staying in his arms as he stood up and headed back towards the dining room where their dinner was most likely waiting for them.

Regina smiled as she saw Robin enter the room with Heidi in his arms, she was glad he had managed to coax her out, hopefully, that meant that she wasn't feeling off colour. "Well hello there."

Heidi looked at her but didn't say hi, she simply snuggled further into her father's embrace, ignoring Regina almost completely. "Hey, mommy said hi, aren't you going to say hi back?" Robin asked as he put her down in her usual seat at the dining table.

"Hi," the girl whispered before picking up her fork and taking a bite of the pasta Regina had made without her assistance.

Regina looked at Robin, but he just shrugged before sitting down himself.

The two adults talked about their day over dinner, trying to include Heidi in their conversations but she didn't seem interested in adding anything, she just ate quietly, taking little bits at a time as she slowly worked through her small bowl. Once dinner was over, she asked Robin if he could do bath and bedtime and he nodded, scooping her up and leaving a confused Regina standing in the kitchen wondering what it was that she had done wrong.

She cleared away the mess from the food before locking up downstairs and heading up to her family, poking her head around the corner of Heidi's room to see Robin sat on the bed with her reading one of her books. She stood there for a moment just watching them, Robin looked up and offered her a smile, but the little girl didn't turn away from the book in her lap so Regina reluctantly moved away heading towards the bathroom for a shower of her own.

When she was washed and in her pyjamas she wandered back to Heidi's room just in time to see Robin give her a good night kiss, tucking her in carefully before retreating. Regina then moved to take his place, perching on the edge of the bed, her fingers reaching out to run through Heidi's freshly washed curls. "Is everything okay sweetheart?"

Heidi just nodded, her little nose scrunching up as her eyes began to water, tears running down her cheeks as she cried quietly.

"Baby, come here," she sighed, reaching out for her only to be rejected.

"I don't want a hug."

"Why? You always want my hugs."

"Not today," she whispered, turning away from her and cuddling up to her teddy, pulling her blanket over her head as though it would make her disappear.

Regina was genuinely flabbergasted; she had never had this kind of experience with Heidi and it nearly made her cry. She didn't know what she'd done wrong to be suddenly the villain in the house. "Okay then," she breathed, standing up, rubbing her daughter's back for a short moment before heading for the door, finding Robin stood waiting for her on the landing. "What did I do?" she asked, tears of her own shining in her eyes from the sting of her daughter's rejection.

"Come here," he pulled her into his arms, his fingers stroking softly through her hair as he pressed his lips to her temple, "Heidi told me what was wrong."

"She did? What did she say?"

"I think you had a jealous little madam on your hands today."

"Jealous? Of Sven? Oh dear, I did wonder but I…"

"It's not your fault, I know what babies can be like."

"Yes but I promised we'd play dolls and I just didn't get around to it. She's so used to having my undivided attention she must have felt terrible."

"She asked if you loved the baby more than her."

Regina's eyes widened as she stared at him, she felt completely shocked by what he was telling her. Why would Heidi think that? She felt awful that she hadn't noticed sooner that her daughter was distancing herself, she had merely thought she wanted to draw, sure it had been a little odd that she had just taken herself away, but there hadn't been anything to cause her major alarm. "I should have noticed sooner."

"I'm sure you'll be able to win her over quite quickly."

"Yes, well I suppose we start with buying her a new Merida, her current one is covered in baby's spit and has ruined curls."

"How about I order the doll and you go back in there and talk to her?" Robin suggested gently nudging his nose against hers.

"That sounds like a plan," Regina nodded. She slipped back into Heidi's room, sitting down on the bed beside her, "hey, I love you so much you know that, right? You'll always be my favourite person, you and daddy, our little family."

The little girl slowly turned, her blue eyes focused on her mother as she met her gaze, "we were going to play."

"I know," she sighed, "and I am really sorry that we didn't get to do that. The thing is babies are a lot of work and they need a lot of attention, just because I was spending time with Sven today doesn't mean that I didn't want to be with you, I did. Do you really think I want to be changing gross smelly diapers rather than playing dolls with my favourite person in the whole world?" Regina chuckled, her nose screwing up in disgust making a small smile edge onto her daughter's face.

"No."

"Definitely not!"

"Boys are stinky."

"That's very true," she laughed, allowing her daughter to move closer, wrapping her arms around her as they carried on talking. "I love you more than anything, you're my little baby."

"I'm not a baby," she giggled, snuggling in close.

"No, you're growing up way too fast, I wonder if I can cast a spell to keep you young."

"Nooo," she shook her head a big smile on her face, "I want to grow up to be pretty just like you."

"You're already pretty," Regina grinned, her fingers playing with her daughter's hair.

Heidi looked at her for a moment before turning serious, "mommy?"

"Hmm?"

"Will you and daddy get another baby?"

"I don't know sweetie," Regina shook her head. She didn't, strangely it wasn't really something they had talked about, Heidi had been a surprise, an unplanned miracle, but they hadn't talked about expanding their family. If they did have another child she didn't know when that would be, Heidi was almost four, she'd be in Kindergarten next year. Regina told herself she would enrol at the community college to get her degree once Heidi was in school, it wasn't Harvard like she had planned originally, but it was at least something. Where in that would she find time to have another baby? "Not any time soon I don't think."

"If you do, can you make it a girl?"

Regina sniggered and pressed a kiss to her daughter's head, "if I have another baby, I'll try my best to make that happen."

"Good. We don't want a stinky boy in the house."

"What about daddy?"

"He's a man, not a boy, and he isn't stinky. Daddy smells nice."

"He does most of the time," she nodded, smiling down at her daughter. "Can I ask you to do something for me Heidi?"

"What is it?"

"If ever you feel upset or sad about something, you tell me straight away so I can try my best to make it better."

"I will mommy."

"Thank you. Well you, I think it might be bedtime now, don't you? We have a full day of playing ahead of us tomorrow, just us two, no crying babies around."

"Can I sleep in your bed with you and daddy?" she asked, her eyes wide and pleading as she pulled an expression Regina couldn't say no to.

"Oh I suppose so, just for tonight," she scooped her up without warning making her squeal happily as she reached for her dumbo toy and carried him with her to her parent's room. "We have someone joining us in here."

"Do we?"

"Yes! Me," Heidi beamed as Regina lowered her onto the mattress allowing her to crawl up the bed towards her father before dropping down next to him.

"Oh, do I know you?"

"Of course, silly! It's me!"

"I don't know anyone called me."

"It's Heidi!" she giggled, getting under the covers and making herself comfy in the middle of the bed. "I'm sleeping in your bed tonight," the little girl beamed as Regina climbed into bed beside her as Heidi settled down, yawning softly as she rested against Regina. "Mommy said that I'm her favouritest person in the world," she quipped, her eyes flickering as she tried to fight off sleep.

"Oh, did she? Well you're my favourite person in the world too," Robin agreed, stroking over her back lightly as she drifted off.

"Did you order the new doll?" Regina asked, quietly as she looked over to Robin.

"Yep," he smiled, grabbing his iPad from the bedside table and switching on his drawing app.

"What are you up to?"

"Nothing, just wanted to draw something."

Regina rolled her eyes playfully as she picked up her book from the bedside table and started reading from the page she was on, one hand running through her sleeping daughter's hair as she rested the book on her knees. She knew Robin was drawing them but she was used to it, she just kept on reading, basking in the family moment.
