Colonnello was not, in fact, surprised to see Skull sitting at the kitchen table. Nor was he surprised by the others obviously hovering. He could see the faint irritation in the Clouds eyes as she sat there.
"Can I go to my room now, Colonnello can tell you about our outing." She groused.
"Were watching a movie tonight, Lacky. It wouldn't be polite to miss it." Reborn snarked with a smirk on his lips.
"Sempai, I didn't stick around for Luce's 'enforced' movie night. What makes you think I'm going to sit around for yours?" She asked with a heavy sigh as if the man should know better.
"Kora, I'm not going to be up for a movie night ether." Colonnello jumped in before Reborn or Fon could say anything. I'm thinking about calling it an early night."
"I have an experiment that can't be left for too much longer. I have no interest in a movie tonight." Verde called from his own spot, a cup of coffee in his hands as he took a sip. His eyes flashing just a bit, and while Colonnello did believe the man had an experiment running, he knew him well enough to know that if it was something that couldn't be left then he would not be in the kitchen.
"Thank you for the meal, Skull." Fon said with a tilt of his head, a fond smile on the man's lips. His eyes held a soft look and Colonnello wondered just when Fon had fallen for their Cloud. He had every intention of getting answers from the man once Skull was out of the room. He had already decided that he wasn't going to let anyone force her into anything. If she was going to let him start over when he didn't deserve it, he would prove that he was worth the risk. He would be a good Rain, even if she decided that he wouldn't be hers.
"I'm going to bed. See you tomorrow." She said with a two-finger salute as she ran from the room. They listened for the thump, thump, thump of Skulls feet on the hardwood of the stairs until there was only silence.
"Did you learn anything today?" Reborn asked, rounding on him once he was assured Skull wasn't coming back in.
"Yea. I learned a bit." He agreed with a nod, as he looked over at Fon. "Did you know Fon is known in town as Skull's stalker?" He inquired and the others stilled. He could see from the aborted movement Viper had made, the way Verde's eyes had gone wide, the slacked jaw look from Lal and the unrestrained amusement from Reborn that they had not in fact known that.
"What…How…just…hu?" Lal asked blinking at him as if he had two heads.
"Oh yea, apparently he was following Skull long before we were cursed." He stated with a large smile that would have been reminiscent of one of Reborn's.
"Something you want to tell us Fon?" Reborn asked with his own chaotic smile on his lips.
"Someone had to make sure she wasn't going to get herself killed." He stated with a serene look on his face as he took a spoonful of the soup, his eyes locked with Reborn's as if in a battle of wills. "She had the questionable habit of going to the Red-Light District and visiting several of the brothels."
"From what I understand Kora, you're the one who had several of the girls throwing themselves at you." He grinned and got a deadpanned look from the Storm.
"Yes, Skull thought I needed some company." His voice was flat as he spoke.
"Didn't cross your mind that she was trying to get away from you Kora?"
"Around the third time of actually following her into the Brothel only for her to have disappeared, it did." He let out a heavy sigh.
"So how often did you stalk the Lackey?" Colonnello asked with a curious look.
"Often enough to be seen as a stalker." Reborn snorted.
"Often enough to know her habits and be able to head her off before she could go down there." Fon agreed with a put upon look on his face.
"Yea, that's what I gathered." Colonnello snickered amused.
"Was their anything else of note that you learned?" Fon asked him looking unimpressed, but it didn't matter that thought of Fon in a brothel was etched into his mind and wasn't leaving any time soon.
"Yea, that place you had me take her too, the Four Champions," he said getting a nod from the Storm.
"They have an odd menu, but their food is very good." Fon stated calmly as he took another bite of his somehow still warm food.
"Well apparently the Lacky gets messages sent to her there." He agreed with a hum.
"Yes, I had noticed that as well." Fon tilted his head just slightly.
"From whom?" Reborn inquired.
"No idea." Colonnello shrugged. "I wasn't about to ask the waiter, he seemed particularly fond of the Lacky. I would even go so far as to say in love with her." His eyes flashed to his Storm in time to see the man tense, his eyes burning brightly with barely withheld fury.
"Was their anything else of note?" Lal asked from her spot, she was taking apart and putting her favorite gun back together. Something she often did to keep her hands busy.
"Yea, one more thing." He agreed with a nod of his head. "Everyone else kept calling her a him. For whatever reason they didn't see Skull as a girl but as a male."
"Impossible." Verde snapped out sitting forward. "Skull hasn't worn her earrings since she took them off."
"Unless whatever mist illusion isn't on the earrings but on something else." Reborn mused as he pulled his fedora over his eyes.
"Mu, it isn't mist flames. I would be able to tell if it was." Viper stated with a shake of their head.
"Don't know what it is, but its fucking unnerving to see this petite girl being called sir and treated as one of the guys." Colonnello said with a shake of his head.
"You're leaving something out, and I want to know what it is." Reborn's voice broke through the silence and Colonnello sighed. He didn't want to break Skull's confidence, but he knew lying to the man wasn't an option ether. Not for the first time he cursed Reborn's ability to read others.
"Skull knew personal information about me Kora, things she should have had no way of knowing." He said keeping his voice steady and his eyes locked with the Sun's.
"There's something else, why don't you want to tell us?" Reborn's voice was silky. Deadly; and it sent a shiver down his spine.
"Skull told me her name." He admitted after a moment and turned in time to see the bowl Fon held in his hands explode.
"Well, what is it?" Viper demanded ignoring the way the table smoked where the juice from the soup hit it. Fon's eyes were barreling into him.
"I can't tell you Kora." He said, raising a hand to stop the coming tirade. "She asked me not to, I won't tell you unless she agrees to it." He stood, leaving the enraged elements behind as he headed up to bed. He knew it wouldn't be the end of this conversation, but maybe he could hold it off until Skull was ready to tell them herself, and silently he hoped that time would come soon. He wasn't sure he would be able to survive Fon in a rage if she didn't.
