Beginning of the Beginning
"What are you doing?" Said a pale skinned girl with long white hair with some done up in a off-center ponytail using a silver tiara, and light blue eyes, with a faint scar going vertically down her left eye and face, she wears a thigh length strapless dress with faint colour graduation from white to light blue at the hem, a small piece of black lace sits in front of her neckline and the hem of her dress is scalloped and stitched to resemble snowflakes, with layers of white tulle under the skirt, she wears a bell-sleeved bolero with a similar colour graduation as her dress from shoulder to wrist overtop, lined in red with a ruffled collar, on the back is the a symbol resembling a multi-pointed snowflake, she also wears a small apple pendant on a silver chain and thin rectangular silver earrings, with white wedge-heeled boots that have a small silver decoration on the top and are lined in red, she also wears a white sash around her waist with a pouches attached to the back.
Hearing this Ruby gets into her hands and exclaims, "Uh, sorry!" "Sorry?! Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?" She yells at Ruby who is holding one of the cases, "Uuhhh..." Ruby intelligently responds. "Give me that! This is Dust- mined and purified from the Schnee quarry!" The girl states after grabbing and opening the case. "Uuuhhhh..." Ruby once again responds, "What are you, brain-dead? Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!" The girl says while holding up a vial of red Dust. "I... I know..." Ruby coughs out. "Are you even listening to me? Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself?!"
Ruby sneezes violently due to the amount of Dust in her face, this causes an explosion of fire, snowflakes, and electricity right onto the girl. The vial she was holding being thrown at the feet of another girl, who is fair-skinned with long black wavy hair and amber eyes, she has a black ribbon tied into a large bow on her head, wears a black buttoned vest with coattails and one silver button on the front, with a white sleeveless high necked crop undershirt underneath, with white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg, emblazoned with YKK, she also wears black low-heeled boots with full stockings with a colour graduation from black to purple at her ankles, with an emblem resembling a white flame on the outside of both her thighs just under her shorts, she also has a black detached sleeve with a silver cuff around her bicep on her left arm, with black ribbons wrapped around both forearms, along with a small, loose, black scarf around her neck and a grey magnetic backpack hidden behind her hair. See the Schnee Dust Company logo on the side as she reads her book and looks over at the scene. "Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!" The girl frustratingly shouts. "I'm really, really sorry!" Ruby embarrassingly apologizes, to which the girl angrily shouts, "Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?"
"Well, I-I..." Ruby tries to say before being interrupted, "This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monster, so... watch where you are going!" the girl rants. "Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!" Ruby snaps. "S-she is actually a-a heiress, she's W-Weiss Schnee, heiress to the S-Schnee Dust Company," Revati stutters out, peeking out from behind a large shrub.
"Finally! Some recognition!" Weiss smugly exclaims. "The same company infamous for its controversial labour forces and questionable business partners," the girl from earlier says while walking up to the pair with the vial. "Wha- How dare- The nerve of- Ugh!" Weiss angrily tries before walking up to the girl and taking the vial from her and walking away while her helpers gather her luggage and follow, while Ruby chuckles. "I promise I'll make this up to you!" Ruby yells to Weiss before sighing, "I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day... So, what's..." she attempts to ask while turning only to see the other girl walking away. At seeing this, Ruby collapses onto her back before saying, "Welcome to Beacon..." Suddenly a shadow appears overtop of her, "Hey... I'm Jaune," a boy with fair skin and medium length, messy, blond hair and dark blue eyes, he wears a black short-sleeved hoodie with detached reddish-orange sleeves, with blue jeans with a white patch on the left knee, with black high top sneakers, white armour is found in the form of diamond-shaped chest piece cut off above the lower abdomen, spaulders, rebracers, and black elbow guards with cords, he also wears two crisscrossed belts on his waist with a pair of small pouches on each, brown wrist-length fingerless gloves with small metal plates on the back, and a sword sheath attached to the waist, who reaches out to pull Ruby up. "Ruby" Ruby introduced herself as he pulled her up, "Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?" Ruby asks.
Inside of one of Beacon's hallways, Ruby and Jaune walking down the hallway while Revati follows behind.
"All I'm saying is that motion sickness is a much more common problem then people let on!" Jaune explains to Ruby. "J-Jaune is right ya know, m-many people don't travel on s-ships and boats, so l-lots of people don't even k-know they have motion s-sickness," Revati stutters out in Jaune's defence. "Thank you! Finally someone understands!" Jaune exclaims while turning to Revati, "Y-you're w-welcome, Jaune," Revati nervously says while being stared at. "Look, I'm sorry! Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind," Ruby laughs out, "Oh, yeah? What if I called you Crater Face?" Jaune shoots back. "Hey, that explosion was an accident!" Ruby defends herself.
"Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue- ladies love it!" Jaune confidently states, "Do they?" "R-Really?" Ruby and Revati skeptically ask. "They will! Well, I-I hope that will. My mom always says that... Never mind," Jaune says while Ruby giggles, after which an awkward silence falls with Ruby and Jaune looking at each other, while Revati nervously looks between the two. "So... I got this thing!" Ruby starts before pulling out Crescent Rose, a giant scythe with a rose red frame and black trim, with the blade forged into a crescent shape, and stabbing it into the ground, causing Revati to jump back with a yelp in surprise.
"Whoa! Is that a scythe?" Jaune says while admiring the weapon, "It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby proudly rattled off. "A wha...?" Jaune confusingly asks, with Revati answering him, "I-It's also a g-gun," "Yup!" Ruby confirms while cocking it. "Oh. That's cool!" Jaune exclaims in awe, "So what've you got?" Ruby asks in return. "Oh! I, uh... I got this sword!" Jaune exclaims while pulling out his sword which has a blue handle and golden cross guard and pommel, from its sheath. "Ooooohh!" "Yeah, and I've got a shield, too!" he claims, pulling out his scabbard, raises his arm and it expands into a white shield with golden trim with a golden emblem resembling two crescent moons, with one being smaller than the other, pointed downwards.
"So, what do they do?" Ruby asks as she touches the shield. "The shield gets smaller, so when I get tired of carrying it, I can just... put it away..." Jaune explains as his shield collapses back into its sheath form and then attaches it back onto his belt. "D-doesn't that mean it i-is still the same w-weight as before?" Revati questions, "Yeah, it does..." Jaune responds dejectedly while Ruby giggles.
"How about yours Revati? I'd love it if you'd let me look at it!" Ruby exclaims, slightly startling the boy. "S-sure thing, my weapons are named Ryƫjin, they double as b-both gauntlets and harpoons, with the holes just a-above my knuckles firing flechettes and the bigger s-spike is actually the tip of the spear." Revati stutters out while holding up his arms and subsequently his weapons. "Ooh, so cool!" Ruby squeaks out in excitement. "Y-ya, th-th-thanks!" Revati nervously thanks.
"Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons, sooo... I guess I did go a little overboard when designing it," Ruby says referring back to Crescent Rose, "Wait- you made that?!" Jaune asks in surprise. "Of course! All students at Signal forge their own weapons! Didn't you make yours?" Ruby asks Jaune, who responds, "It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war." "Sounds more like a family heirloom to me!" Ruby laughs out, "Well, I like it! Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days." "Y-ya, I think it's p-pretty cool that ya g-got a piece of history l-like that," Revati praises. "Yeah, the classics..." Jaune says while sheathing his sword.
"So why'd you help me out back there? In the courtyard?" Ruby asks as she continues walking. "Eh, why not? My mom always says, 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet,'" Jaune quotes as he catches up with her, "M-my mother always told m-me that you can't trust s-someone until they show you a-any goodwill, and e-even then..." Revati trails off while looking at Ruby and Jaune warily. "Right... hey, where are we going?" Ruby asks looking around, to which Jaune responds panicked, "Oh, I don't know! I was following you. Y-You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some sort of recognizable landmark? Is uh... is that a 'no'?" "That's a 'no'." Ruby laughs back. "D-Don't worry I got a m-map on me," Revati reassures. "Phew! At least one of us knows where to go," Jaune responds in relief.
[A/N: chapter 2! Just a note here, update time will vary quite a bit, new chapters might take anywhere from a day to a month just because I'm kinda lazy and my brain doesn't like when I focus on the same thing for more than a few hours, and that's when it's interesting enough, in my entire life, I've only been able to focus on the same task for more than 4 hours twice, and that was when I binged RWBY from volume 5-8 last year and in December when I binged all the episodes of Stone Ocean that have been released. So if I haven't updated in a while, just know I haven't abandoned the story, also I'm thinking of doing a story for MHA as well, and maybe one for Stone Ocean when it's finished. Arrivederci!]
